Reading journal 3 and seeing the relationship that Ford had with Shifty (the shapeshifter) made me think of an idea that involves Ford's partner with this creature.

I imagine that Reader follows the investigation of this creature very closely, but unlike Ford and McGucket, Reader treats Shifty in a similar way to a human baby, even playing games with him and trying to teach him to speak (reader was very excited hearing him speak even if his first words were "beans").

At some point Reader would try to teach him to read and write, first with the name Ford, then McGucket and then Reader, but something quite funny and cute at the same time happens when he tries to write their name, and it is that shifty writes "dear" instead of reader's name.

Ford laughs and corrects him by telling him that Dear is not Reader's name, The creature proceeds to write "honey" with all the confidence in the world, When Ford corrects him again, Shifty is very confused and begins to write several words, all of them being nicknames that Ford calls his partner (sweetie, darling, my love, sweetheart, etc.).

The poor creature is so confused that they decide to leave him alone and agree with him so he doesn't get stressed😅

BONUS:

Imagine that when Dipper, Mabel, Wendy and Soos go to the bunker, Reader decides to accompany them and that when they meet Shifty, Reader goes into angry mother/father/parent mode and Shifty, very afraid, tries to tell Reader that he was just joking while he is dragged by the ear (or whatever his ear is) by reader like a child being scolded by his mother after doing a prank.

leyendo el diario 3 y viendo la relacion que tenia ford con formy(el cambiaformas) me hizo pensar en una idea que involucra a la pareja de ford con esta criatura.

me imagino que lecto@ sigue muy de cerca la investigación de esta criatura, pero a diferencia de ford y mcgucket, trata a shifty de forma similar a un bebe humano, llegando a hacer juegos con el y tratando se enseñarle a hablar(se emocionó mucho al oirle hablar incluso si sus primeras palarbas fueron "frijoles").

en algún momento lector@ trataria de enseñarle a leer y escribir, primero con el nombre de ford, luego mcgucket y luego el de lector@, pero pasa algo bastante gracioso y tierno a la vez cuando trata de escribir su nombre, y es que shifty escribe "cariño" en vez del nombre de lector@.

ford se rie y le corrije diciéndole que cariño no es el nombre de lector@, la criatura procede a escribir "dulzura" con toda la seguridad del mundo, cuando ford le vuelve a corregir shifty esta muy confundido y empieza a escribir varias palabras, todas siendo apodos por los que ford llama a su pareja(tesoro, querid@, mi amor, corazon, etc).

la pobre criatura queda tan confundida que deciden dejarlo en paz y darle la razon para que no se estrese😅

imagina que cuando dipper, mabel, wendy y soos van al bunker lector@ decida acompañarlos y que cuando se encuentran con shifty reader se pone modo madre/padre enojad@ y Formy con mucho miedo trata de decirle a reader que solo estaba bromeando mientras es arrastrado por la oreja(o lo que sea su oreja) por lector@ como un niño siendo regañado por su madre tras hacer una travesura.

i know Miguel O'Hara seems like the kind of guy to mind his business, but you know how you get a hundred times more comfortable when you meet someone from your culture? sure, he may be reserved and intimidating when seeing him for the first time and his stoic expression doesn't exactly help either. but as soon as he listens to someone speaking spanish in nueva york, its instantly captures his attention.

thats what happened today. miguel needed some time, away from his job at alchemax and definitely a break from being spiderman, and ended up taking a quick drink at this bar. he was just mulling over this week, how long and frankly overwhelming it has been to the point where this is the first time he has spared some time in a while.

however, his thoughts were soon interrupted. it wasn't like the bar was empty, there were clients and conversations filling the silence along with the clinks and clanks of their drinks, but those weren't the sounds that made him snap out of his mind.

what did were a few words. their language specifically.

honestly, people tended to tell these comments to his face, telling him compliments that instantly revealed their intentions as soon as they tried to touch his arm and flash him some flirty eyes. that usually turned miguel off, quickly shaking off any advancements in favor of his other responsibilities.

but there was something about hearing them in his language, the one he was used to hearing at home when younger (much harsher at that) or when it just slipped out of him here and there.

and more and more words you were probably oblivious to the fact that he was not only listening in but also understanding perfectly. it was an honest confidence boost if he was being honest. Someone gushing over him at a bar? In Spanish no less? It was new, almost innocent if it weren't for how explicit you were being about how attractive you found him, but endearing nonetheless.

listening in wouldn't do much harm, Miguel thought to himself, slightly adjusting himself in his seat to get a glimpse of you, immediately feeling that giddiness from seeing you talk your friend's ear off over some stranger.

it was that after a few minutes, he heard some laughter from your table.

taking a last sip of his beer after paying the bartender, Miguel stood up from his seat, heading over to the table that had him so intrigued today. he had to admit, it felt a little silly to act all tough and confident when he rarely sets time apart for stuff like this. but when your eyes meet his and he sees that hint of red in your cheeks, he didn't felt so alone in his silliness as he remembers your words.

if you werent going to make a move out of fear of feeling stupid, then he wouldn't be stupid to let either of you walk away from a chance.

miguel clears his throat, interrupting the conversation between you and your friend as he slips a napkin your way, nodding at both you and your friend before leaving.

as he heads to the door, he hears your friend start laughing, making him turn his head back to see you shaking your head over your hands, hiding your face. though he could the hint of red had reached your ears. your friend tells you to look up once more, meeting miguel's eyes once more, prompting him to smile at you and hint back at the napkin.

you looked down at the napkin, feeling your heart race once more, not believing the fool you made of yourself regardless. while yes, he did leave his name and number written down for you, it wasn't enough to let you know he had heard your interest in him. no, he had to let you know he was just as much a Spanish speaker as you.

safe to say that you two eventually got the chance to go on a date once your embarrassment passed. after all, it wasn't that common to find someone who spoke the same language as you in nueva york and miguel wouldn't let that chance slip away, especially after you sounded so pretty gushing over him.

Miscellaneous rival cast headcanons | XY

a lot of my headcanons are based on a mix of fanon, manga, anime, pokemon masters, and main game elements put into a blender

calem and serena are 18! not as much a headcanon and more implied canon, they can’t be older than 19 because they are clearly still teenagers but they can’t be younger than 18 because emma (who is canonically 16) makes remarks about them being old. 16 and 17 are too close for that to be the case, so they are at least 18!

shauna is 17, as well as tierno.

trevor is 15 being the youngest, though the smartest and most reliable member of the group.

calem and serena are both trans (calem FTM, serena MTF) serena transitioned before moving to vaniville and helped calem transition with the help from her experience in fashion when he came out.

serena is the protagonist, while calem is the rival as that’s how it’s set in masters.

serena is childhood friends with shauna, and trevor. while calem is childhood friends with serena and tierno, the friend group formed over several years of naturally growing together before they all set off on a journey together

shauna is the type of girl who is a little crush crazy, always hopping from one guy to the next to fawn over. she pretty much instantly fell head over heels for calem when they met (based on her dialogue during the firework show) however, her crushing for calem ends up back firing because of how often calem and serena are near each other; growing into another crush on serena at the same time. hijinks ensue.

grace considers calem to be like one of her own, he’s always welcome in their home no matter what. she occasionally refers to him as her son in law.

serena and calem have insane romantic tension they are utterly oblivious to but everyone is painfully aware of, including shauna who is stewing in very complicated jealousy.

tierno is calem’s closest friend other than serena, anything he can’t bring up to serena for one reason or another gets told to tierno.

tierno is really good at reading people, he pays attention by second nature and despite coming off as rather unserious he has a way of calming people.

tierno had a crush on serena at some point after meeting and has asked her out on three occasions, all being declined. he’s a good sport about it and isn’t afraid to play it for laughs

trevor is very sick and tired of his friends reckless shenanigans, tierno and calem especially.

trevor is the team mom here, he didn’t agree to it but he is.

shauna is a little slow on the uptick, but a big gossip. which means everyone else is a gossip by proxy.

going off of Y’s habit in the manga of being too shameless for her own good with getting dressed in semi public places, serena has the same habit. you get used to it after a while.

despite seemingly having her head in the clouds, shauna will bitch you out if prompted.

serena’s mom, grace, is a single mom. serena is the product of a fling during grace’s younger years as a rhyhorn racer, which is why she’s so overbearing about serena’s future, she wants her to have a good life to overcompensate for that fact.

trevor lives with his grandparents in santalune, his parents work overseas.

tierno lives with his parents in aquacorde town, as does shauna

I have so many pairings, though! I couldn't possibly share my thoughts on all of them in a single post, so I'll limit myself to three here.

When they were children, Green told anyone who would listen he was going to marry Leaf when they were grown up.

But now that they are grown up, or throughout the events of FireRed and LeafGreen and a little beyond that, he vehemently denies ever uttering such a thing.

Leaf doesn't demand he stay true to his childhood promise, but it does deeply sadden her how different his treatment of her is now compared to when they were smaller.

Silver never calls anyone by their actual name. Instead, he gives everybody he comes across some derogatory moniker. Kotone is referred to exclusively as 'pigtails' (and Hikari is 'sockhead' to him after he encounters her much later at the Battle Zone).

So when Silver finally calls Kotone by her name, it's an important step in their relationship! I can't envision him ever using terms of affection, so the simple act of saying her name and the tone it's said in holds a significant weight between the two.

I've pondered about a scenario that takes place shortly after X and Y's postgame where Serena invites Calem to a formal event, a Lapras Conservation Charity Gala, as her plus one.

Her father isn't exactly pleased to receive the news his precious daughter has selected a boy to accompany her.

And Calem knows nothing about ballroom dancing! Thankfully, his friend Tierno does, and is more than willing to teach him. Yes, he could certainly ask Serena to instruct him instead, but he wants to impress her with his smooth moves at the gala~.

WHAT?! CALEM AS THE PROTAGONIST OF X AND Y IN THIS AU INSTEAD OF SERENA?! WHAT IS THIS FOUL MAGIC?! In all seriousness, here's Calem for the kaijumorpha au!

Calem was what one would consider an oddity amongst both humans and even other fellow kaijumorphs. Born from an romance between a regular human woman and a (now deceased) natural-born Therus father, Calem's very birth was considered something as an omen and a warning by Kalos' legendary duo themselves. Despite this, however, Calem had managed to gain a few friends along his pokemon journey in Kalos. Including a were-vulture named Serena, two demihumans named Shauna and Tierno, and a human named Trevor. And on their pokemon adventure, they would eventually cross paths with team flare and stop the end of the world...

So this was a design I've had floating around for a bit. I kinda had Calem as this megakaiju centaur in my head being in the AU for quite some time. Now originally, back when the idea for this 'verse's name was the "infiniverse", Calem had gained this for after getting hit by the ultimate weapon's power and mutating into what he looks like here. but i decided against it and went on with Calem being a human/therus hybrid when I began to build up upon this au with power kieran and the Paldea pack (name for the three rivals, plus the protagonists', group name in the au).

Now as stated, the centaur part of Calem's design is based on the mega kaiju from pacific rim's un-made sequel. Another major insp for calem being a centaur was because of Juno Song's Monochrome DX with lyrics Jumpscare showing Calem and Serena failing (or living eternally for Calem's case)
