starting a baseless rumour that kathleen dudman, this lady, a.k.a ace’s grandma,

is the descendant of the clara splinter that was sundvik’s daughter (one of ace’s ancestors had to be related to the sundviks in order for fenric’s curse to work, right?)

not that it affects the story in any way at all, but isn’t it fun to think about? name of the doctor shows clara echoes popping up throughout many of his classic adventures and making pivotal decisions that affect his future. why not this one then

tl;dr one of the myriad clara oswalds scattered throughout history became ace mcshane’s great-great-grandmother. according to what source? according to my cringefail brain :)

No, please, Jenny!” Vastra’s cries carried in the ruins of the gigantic TARDIS on Trenzalore, and when Strax turned on her and tried to attack her, the gun slipped into her hand so fast, she could barely register her finger pulling the trigger until Strax had turned into a fine mist. “NO!” she cried again, her very soul ripping apart.

Jenny was gone.

Vastra had turned her back, explained – always busy explaining, it would kill her one day – and Jenny had vanished.

Time rewritten.

Each victory the Doctor had ever had…

“There must be a reason I have not died yet! I have to go back and save her!” Before River could protest, Vastra grabbed for the device on River’s wrist and strapped the Vortex Manipulator to her own wrist. She remembered the date, time, and location like the back of her hand, each and every encounter and memory still so clear. Oh, her childhood had gone, a gaping hole between her hatching and stepping into her role as a Seeker of Truths, but what did that matter in the face of the possibility of saving Jenny?

Vastra goes back in time to fix Jenny's timeline the Great Intelligence has twisted, while she herself is losing her memories one by one, dying slowly.

Does anyone else wish the war doctor had been played by Richard E. Grant?

Don’t get me wrong John hurt was fantastic and who wouldn’t want to see such an amazing and renowned actor as John hurt play the Doctor…

Buuuuuut it would also have been really cool to see scream of the shalka canonised and the fact that the shalka doctor would have been ‘the one who broke the promise’ explains why it was never referenced before. plus with derek Jacobi playing the master it would slot into canon so nicely too.

And even though he was cast as Simeon and the great intelligence I feel like it could still work. Like he jumped into the doctors timeline too but we never see any replica’s of him like Clara (unless every great intelligence we’ve seen before was a copy including Simeon too but like…that would be way too confusing a time loop tbh) so the doctor taking the face of Simeon could just be described as the residual presence of the great intelligence in his timeline (also if there is a gi clone for every Clara copy like the episode implies, shouldn’t we have seen him in asylum of the daleks?)

Me and the wooden cybermen have such a love hate relationship. I hate their design and then find them kinda appealing and then find them appalling. I think a lot about the fact that the Doctor's real name is some deep unknowable awful secret, but he's got a granddaughter called Susan and a brother called Irving. There's a real Aerith and Bob situation going on in that family.

Retcon idea: What if the place Clara ends up in "Name of the Doctor", said to be the Doctor's timestream, is actually The Edge (from "Power of the Doctor") but it's all dark and spookier and collapsing in on itself due to the timeline being messed with thanks to the Great Intelligence? The 'Doctors' we see running past Clara in the shrouded gloomscape are actually ghosts/guardians of the Edge desperately trying to flee.

Ohhh interesting, interesting! That's actually a pretty fun idea and adds quite a bit to the physicalization of the Doctor's timeline.

The Great Intelligence is basically jumping into the Doctor's essence to cause havoc and so all the Guardians are trying to do what they can, but of course, they're nothing but memories so they can't do much. It would also explain seeing the War Doctor as, regardless of how the Doctor and myself feel about his existence, he is an incarnation and would therefore be among the ghosts/Guardians of the Edge!
