Happy birthday, Namjoonie-ah
I was thinking about what I could gift you for this birthday. Honestly, I thought of a drawing. But I’ve never been the best drawer. On the other hand, I wrote my first novel when I was fourteen. So here it goes.
Hi, Nam. First of all, congratulations on your 25th birthday! This is literally the first quarter of your life, and look at all the things you have achieved! And I’m not talking about prizes, or breaking records. No, today I want to tell you how much of an influence you have become for normal people. People like me. Army, in general.
Let me tell you how did I started 2019: this year founded myself alone. My group of friends left me behind, I lose my job, I started my last semester on college. I was exactly on a checkpoint. Those are scary, aren’t they? The rest of your life is literally in front of your eyes and it goes farther than the horizon, everything has changed and you don’t have a plan. You have no idea of what to do next. What are the steps? Where are the instructions? Who should I talk next? Which path should I go?
I was terrified. And I felt I had nothing that led me forward. Obviously that wasn’t true, (you never walk alone, remember?) my family and some sporadic friends were there for me. My career was there for me. I had the chance to start over and I wasn’t seeing it.
I also think it was scary because, until I found myself alone, I didn’t knew I was living for others. So I have to face myself, forgive me for everything wrong I’ve done, start loving the unique parts of me and start to build myself as a person. I bet you know how painful all this process is.
And then, a friend ask me if I had ever listened to BTS. I said no (I know you’re the most famous band at the moment but I seriously didn’t heard you coincidently) and I was totally on denial to listen to a new band. She insisted. I kept saying no. We both studied animation and film direction, so she said “fine, don’t listen to them. Watch them” and led me to Mic Drop’s MV.
Well, that was such an experience.
Your energy was… so pure, so intense. Each of you had a particular way of expressing, a way of moving, a way you interacted with the cinematography. It was like nothing I seen before. And I was shocked. Like, wow, those guys can make music, and dance, and rap, and EVERYTHING. So I was impressed, but not yet so into BTS. I listened to other songs, cool.
Immediately after that, PERSONA came out.
I’m saying this with a hand in my heart: I never, ever felt so identified with a song’s lyrics. Not only about who the hell we are, but also about how that question will never be fully answered. How we create a bunch of ourselves for each people, but each of these selves, at the end of the day, are part of us. RM couldn’t have existed if Rap Monster wasn’t there first, as my nickname could have existed if I never moved to a new city. What I mean is, I felt understood. I remember thinking “this person knows how I feel. This person know who I am. Esta persona sabe quién soy.”
So I wondered who the person behind those lyrics was. And I met Kim Namjoon. A boy so humble, creative, honest, and different of everything I saw before, that I felt a lot of joy. “He’s like me”. You were, literally, a hand in the darkness who pushed me away of it. But you (and the rest of the members) never let my hand go. I felt like someone was walking aside me, someone who understands the difficulties of wondering what our identity is. What’s our business here? Why are alive? What have we came to do here? Well, BTS showed me a bit of that. But the one who showed me a direction the most was you, Namjoon.
This is so cringe to write, because I can tell I know a bit of who you are, but you have no idea of who is writing this letter. So I’m going to show you what did BTS made in my life:
I started dancing classes because of Jimin and Hoseok (not you here, I’m sorry xD), I met a bunch of new people who were Armys as well, I started writing again!!! I didn’t wrote for a year. BTS showed me a bunch of new concepts and now there’s an entire new series written under the lyrics of The Truth Untold. Just written, I’m on process of getting financial support. But!! Still!!
You guys inspired me. Like, yes, it is possible to live after what we love doing. And also, how we can make art based on different feelings, situations, circumstances, concepts. But from all the members, I have to specially thank you, Namu. You helped me out of this crisis, you made my days brighter, and you even updated a picture the day of my birthday xDD. You taught me that even though the route is full of fog, is the strength of love (the people you love, the ones that love you, the things you love doing) the one that will lead you.
You made me fall in love with BTS.
Thank you for showing me the path into what I want and love, that is writing and directing.
I hope someday I could met you, give you this letter in person and make sure you read it. And I’d love to thank you face to face. I’m just an ordinary army, but, as myself, there’s a bunch of other persons who were inspired by you and whose path were defined by you.
Thank you for your existence.
Happy 25th birthday. Thank you. From the top of my heart.
MENDU.

Deep-CEE: The AI deep studying device serving to astronomers discover deep area

The novel deep studying device Deep-CEE has been developed to hurry up the method of discovering galaxy clusters corresponding to this one, and… view more Credit score: NASA/ESA Galaxy clusters are a few of the most huge buildings within the cosmos, however regardless of being hundreds of thousands of lightyears throughout, they’ll nonetheless be exhausting to identify. Researchers at Lancaster College have turned to synthetic intelligence for help, growing “Deep-CEE” (Deep Studying for Galaxy Cluster Extraction and Analysis), a novel deep studying method to hurry up the method of discovering them. Matthew Chan, a PhD scholar at Lancaster College, is presenting this work on the Royal Astronomical Society’s Nationwide Astronomy assembly on Four July at 3:45pm within the Machine Studying in Astrophysics session. Most galaxies within the universe reside in low-density environments often called “the sector”, or in small teams, just like the one which incorporates our Milky Method and Andromeda. Galaxy clusters are rarer, however they symbolize probably the most excessive environments that galaxies can reside in and learning them will help us higher perceive darkish matter and darkish power. Throughout 1950s the pioneer of galaxy cluster-finding, astronomer George Abell, spent a few years trying to find galaxy clusters by eye, utilizing a magnifying lens and photographic plates to find them. Abell manually analysed round 2,000 photographic plates, on the lookout for visible signatures the of galaxy clusters, and detailing the astronomical coordinates of the dense areas of galaxies. His work resulted within the ‘Abell catalogue’ of galaxy clusters discovered within the northern hemisphere. Deep-CEE builds on Abell’s strategy for figuring out galaxy clusters however replaces the astronomer with an AI mannequin that has been skilled to “look” at color pictures and determine galaxy clusters. It’s a state-of-the-art mannequin based mostly on neural networks, that are designed to imitate the way in which a human mind learns to recognise objects by activating particular neurons when visualizing distinctive patterns and hues. Chan skilled the AI by repeatedly exhibiting it examples of recognized, labelled, objects in pictures till the algorithm is ready to be taught to affiliate objects by itself. Then ran a pilot research to check the algorithm’s potential to determine and classify galaxy clusters in pictures that comprise many different astronomical objects. “We have now efficiently utilized Deep-CEE to the Sloan Digital Sky Survey” says Chan, “finally, we’ll run our mannequin on revolutionary surveys such because the Massive Synoptic Survey telescope (LSST) that can probe wider and deeper into areas of the Universe by no means earlier than explored. New state-of-the-art telescopes have enabled astronomers to watch wider and deeper than ever earlier than, corresponding to learning the large-scale construction of the universe and mapping its huge undiscovered content material. By automating the invention course of, scientists can shortly scan units of pictures, and return exact predictions with minimal human interplay. This can be important for analysing information in future. The upcoming LSST sky survey (as a consequence of come on-line in 2021) will picture the skies of your complete southern hemisphere, producing an estimated 15 TB of information each night time. “Knowledge mining methods corresponding to deep studying will assist us to analyse the big outputs of contemporary telescopes” says Dr John Stott (Chan’s PhD supervisor). “We count on our methodology to seek out 1000’s of clusters by no means seen earlier than by science”. Chan will current the findings of his paper “Fishing for galaxy clusters with “Deep-CEE” neural nets” on Four July at 3:45pm within the ‘Machine Studying in Astrophysics’ session. Shelby County Holds Annual “Taste of Adoption” Event
This week, the Shelby County region hosted their annual National Adoption Month event, “A Taste of Adoption.” They were able to successfully gather more than 60 community members for an informative program surrounding the joys, challenges and procedures of fostering with a highlight on adopting. Representatives from the Orphan Ministry at Bellevue Baptist Church, TN Kids Belong, immigration attorneys and actual adoptive families were on hand to provide various perspectives.
Each child highlighted at the event was given an information sheet two months prior. The agencies took those sheets and designed a table around all of the youth’s favorite things. Along with their favorite things, each child was asked what their favorite food was. There was a spread that included everything from popcorn to hot wings. There were jersey subs, pizza, nachos and banana pudding cups. The mission was to show that our children available for adoption are just like any others. They like many of the same things as any other child their age. During the program, video profiles of each child were shown and a DCS or agency staff member was available throughout the evening to answer one-on-one questions.
