The person who called you a people pleaser is... Well let's just say it's evident that they don't realise how much content creators get motivated by genuine feedback and reblogs. So many people choose to migrate to platforms like AO3 because there people can get more comments than on here. Likes don't do anything to motivate us, they're simply numbers. Reblogs (especially with tags or comments) do that because they help us to know what someone liked or even did not like lol. And like you said in your reply to that anon, there's no harm in showing appreciation towards something you like.
