J'qupoh is a purring machine! He purrs when he's happy, he purrs when he's healing, he purrs when trying to comfort others or himself.
He also sometimes chirps at people he's close to when greeting them. His tail fluffs up when he's startled or embarrassed.
Naira's tail stands up when she's alert and twitches when she's unsure of something. Also she absolutely tries to start each day with a bit of time to bask in a sunny spot to help her wake up.
VIERA / AU RA / HROTHGAR / MIQO'TE PLAYERS:
what animal mannerisms do your characters have
(if non-kemonomimi characters have some i wanna see those too 👀)
#also i have this mental image now of angry auri fluffing their neck scales like beardies do#not sure if i'll make it canon but I also love the idea of Naira just#starting to have little angy head bobs#when she's frustrated or feeling aggressive#character musings#naira gharl#j'qupoh tia

My other Wol is Naira Gharl, a xaela alchemist who left the Steppe fairly recently with her brothers. I couldn't find a lot about the Gharl, but I went with the ritual with the sacred urns being part of worshiping the earth, and that she left because she believes that to only roam the Steppe is too limiting of their faith, and that there can be no better expression than to travel ALL the lands, and bring back new soil to scatter upon the Steppe, which might as well be as one at this point.
Xaela alchemist 👁👁👁👁👁 Ohooo...
I absolutely love clans lore, you can do so much stuff with clan/xaela lore that's in the game and you can just change and ass flavor to it to make it your own. Xaela will always have my heart!

Sitting here in nostalgia hell thinking about how my old PGMD OCs would fit into FFXIV setting simply because I miss them and I’m currently obsessed lmaooo
I already have Naira as a Xaela Au ra from the Azim Steppe, part of the Gharl clan (the tiny tidbit of clan lore we get for them fits for her with the bonus of Gharl being very similar to Gorral) She still has the bad history with Besnik but uh, things ended earlier and not near as tragically so she’s only bitter about the betrayal, and not the whole. Loss of the baby thing too.
Aubrey would absolutely be an Ishgardian Elezen, son of some minor noble house that is just high enough in society for there to be a good bit of gossip when word gets out he ran off to join his bastard half-breed cousin as an adventurer, completely dropping his training to join the clergy. And then coming back with a foreign commoner that he announces he is formally courting. Likely headed straight to Limsa Lominsa because the Arcanist guild sounds like a good fit to build on the skills he has, and it being a port city means that if he decides the area isn’t a good fit, he has access to many other options.
Oliver would be that bastard half-breed cousin. Lominsan born, and likely only as acceptable as he was amongst Ishgardian “polite” society because it got out he spent a lot of his time before being brought to Ishgard running errands and doing work for a convent (lmao). Aubrey’s father kept him around out of love for his younger sister and a desire to keep some part of her alive, and because his late wife adored her nephew. He would have known the truth about the “convent” and desperately wished the boy had been less an influence on his sickly son (even if Oliver was actually the one tagging along for the ride.)
Maggie and Adri would both definitely be Viera, likely sticking together when Maggie spots this young AF boy dressed in garb like that of the village she left behind so long ago, who is...distressingly naive and about to get scammed out of what little gil he has, and she ends up intervening and then taking him under her wing, maybe even helping him pick out his new name.
Solita is ????? I’m not sure but there’s a part of me that is torn between her being a Raen Au ra for looks alone, moonkeeper miqo’te who was part of a very secluded, now mostly extinct tribe, or possibly part of that one Xaela tribe that worshipped Dalamud. She is still a big sad and might be carrying around her brother and mother’s bones still. Might be extra haunted. Might be dabbling in necromancy.

The moment customize+ is updated it’s all over, I will cease making progress on leveling her because I will be too distracted taking screenshots.
That’s a lie I will need to prioritize getting her drip even more.

Hair’s pulled back, someone is dying and she’s on her way to help. (Which side she’s helping will be decided on arrival.)
There was a thing going around on twitter and Naira took over instead of J’qupoh and I’m glad she did.
Featuring her new horns because I decided she deserved more/bigger.
#ffxiv#au ra#xaela#wol#naira gharl#this is not the kind of look I would normally draw her in but i'm digging it

Ask prompts you reblogged
What is your muse’s love language / how do they show affection?
Soft Headcanons
J'qupoh is all about physical affection and giving gifts. Usually he gifts something handmade or something simple he spotted that made him think of someone. Typically little things like picking up a particular kind of tea that he thinks Y'shtola will like, but every now and then he’ll do something bigger, like the blankets he wove for G’raha and the twins while avoiding sleeping after Endwalker (he’d have made one for every scion if they hadn’t sicced Tataru on him).
Absolutely is in people’s space as often as he can get away with, head bunts and curling his tail around whatever he can reach. Very likely to lean on/ drape himself on friends who sit still long enough, and will snatch people into bear hugs if he thinks he can get away with it. With G’raha he will seek any chance to have an arm at his waist or a chance to sneak a quick kiss or hold his hand.
Naira’s love language is definitely acts of service - clearing out nuisances, whether that be beasts in need of culling or making sure someone’s work is uninterrupted, or making sure her companions are well supplied. Little things to make her loved one’s day a little easier. She spends much of her spare time keeping the Scions well stocked on curatives and experimenting with more potent concotions that she eventually starts shoving at them before she leaves again - she’ll claim it’s just to further her studies, but it’s absolutely because she wants to have some way to help while she’s not around.
She’s not nearly as free with physical affection as J’qupoh, but with those she’s particularly close to (so at this point basically her brothers, Alphinaud and Alisaie, Tataru, and maybe Urianger and Y’shtola) she will occasionally try to rub her horns against them (but probably catch herself with the non-auri and fling herself away very abruptly out of embarrassment) or just kind of draping her tail on people.

Does your muse want to have children, would they make a good parent?
J'qupoh is kind of torn on this - on the one hand he does like children and is good with them, and would probably make a pretty good dad (he basically raised his sister)...but he's also nowhere near ready to really settle down, and does NOT want to do what his mother did and drag any children he might have on the road just so he can keep adventuring. Also, as much as his social circle has grown and he likes spending time with the family he's found in the scions... if he does settle down, he'd prefer to be somewhere out in the middle of nowhere, and again, he doesn't want to do that to a kid.
Honestly I think he'd be happiest as the honorary uncle that just keeps kidnapping all his friends' kids to spoil them rotten, take them on mini "adventures", and send them home with SO MANY toys and treats.
Naira ABSOLUTELY wants to be a mother, and even has possible names picked out already. But she's definitely waiting until she returns to the Steppe long term - she wants her child to know her homeland beyond stories, even if she does take to wandering again. I'm not 100% sure on how she'd be as a mother, other than that she'd likely be torn between being completely wrapped around their little fingers and trying very hard to be strict, and probably failing miserably. In her clan she was pretty much known for being grumpy with most of the adults but very willing to sit through and answer as many questions a little kid can throw her way without too much protest, even if they were slowing down her work. And 100% willing to help out any of the new mothers who needed a break.
This Warrior of Light's greatest weakness is definitely a cute baby.

Anonymous Coward asked: What are your WoLs ambitions?
Before becoming an adventurer J'qupoh's only real goals were to travel as far as he could, mostly sightseeing and finding lesser known places where his Echo might pick up on lost stories, and maybe help people along the way. After Endwalker, he's desperately wanting to do more of just the travelling part of those plans, though the taste he got of treasure hunting ESPECIALLY appealed to him. He just wants to vibe on the road with one or two people and his chocobo, maybe get some money to help furnish that apartment in Ishgard he's probably just going to let his sister stay in.
Naira left the Steppe for two reasons: curiosity about alchemy fueled by the tomes she got from a foreign trader that had passed through Reunion years ago, and for religious reasons. The Gharl bring urns with soil from the place they last migrated from, which they spread when they settle somewhere new for the season. I HC this is a form of worship of the earth that gave them life - with them having more emphasis on this than worship of Azim or Nhaama. Naira and her brothers believed that to only travel the steppe was far too limiting, and what better way to worship the earth is there than to try to learn of all the lands, and not just that which gave birth to their people? Why not bring back fresh soil to enrich that which, in the centuries her people have traveled and scattered again and again, may well all be one soil at this
So basically Naira wants to bring back new things to the Steppe - in the form of both knowledge and bits of distant lands
