Request: Hajime, Nagito, Shuichi and Kaede giving gifts to GN S/O
I accidentally posted the draft one and lost the ask!!! I'm so sorry TvT but here it is anyways!:)
Tumblr media
Hajime
- Bro is in panic mode while thinking of what he should get you.
- Because he thinks that his gift should be a perfect one just like you.
- He'll go with a cake but he thinks its too common. (But will still get it too anyways.)
- Orange juice boy literally goes to Chiaki and asks her what could be a perfect gift for you since you and Chiaki are close so he thinks that Chiaki will know the perfect gift just for you.
- But he still need to see if it fits his "perfect" gift standard.
- He will then find one but it'll take him hours to find it.
- He invites the class 77-b and will ask them to help him decorate and prepare a surprise for u.
- Ibuki will be the one who'll distract you if you ever wake up.
- Once they're done, Ibuki will lead you downstairs and there you will hear a "surprise"!
- You were in shock though.
- And there you will also see Hajime walking up to you with cake on his hands.
- He'll tell you Happy Birthday and ask you to make a wish and blow the cake.
- He will get his gift right after you make a wish and blow the cake.
- He'll give it to you wrapped nicely and with a flushed face.
- (He totally didn't begged for Chiaki to wrap it up for him cuz he doesn't know how to.)
- He'll tell you to open it when he's not around tho because he'll be super embarrassed if you opened it infront of him. (Because he also placed a love letter inside.)
- He noticed your suprised face and you ask him why he gave you a gift.
- He says "Because you're important to me." with a genuine smile as an answer.
- You appreciate it and told him that you're not used with someone celebrating your bday.
- His face will sadden and he'll be shocked too because how can they not give a care about your birthday??
- Hajime will give you a hug and say sorry and will promise you that this will be the best day in your whole life.
- Actually screw that, he'll make all of your days the best.
- You definitely had the best day in your life.
Nagito
- He found a perfect shop who sells perfect gifts he could think about.
- (He totally didn't used his ultimate luck talent to immediately find a perfect shop.)
- (Cuz he found one immediately just right after he got in the mall.)
- When you wake up, you'll see him preparing foods and you just tilt your head in confusion and ask what is the occasion.
- He'll be shocked at your comment and will tell you that it's your birthday and it should be perfect!!
- He invited all of his friends in Hope's Peak to celebrate.
- But he won't forget to give you your gift first.
- You will just look at him dumbfounded for a few seconds before telling him that he shouldn't have.
- He insist of course and will want you to open it already.
- You're still shocked before hugging him and telling him Thank you's repeatedly.
- You're not used to this so you're really shocked but still grateful because there's finally someone who appreciates you and is willing to celebrate your birthday in the bestest way.
- You had fun with all your friends and with Nagito too ofc!!
Shuichi
- Bro is in panic mode too on what to get you, but he's more calmer than Hajime.
- Will look around the mall while looking for the best gift to give you.
- He will immediately find one.
- The next day, you'll find him and his classmate in the living room , holding balloons and a "Happy Birthday" balloon letters.
- They'll go "Happy Birthday!" Once you go downstairs.
- Your reaction will be "What?".
- You'll ask Shuichi why is everyone here.
- And Shuichi will be like "I also don't know, i only invited Kaede , Maki , K1-B0 , Kaito and Kirumi."
- Turns out, Kokichi invited himself and invited everyone too.
- Shuichi mentally face palmed in which you only chuckled and thanked everyone.
- Shuichi walked up to you and gave you his gift.
- Your eyes widened as tears of joy fell from your eyes.
- Shuichi panicked and asked if you're alright but you only hugged him and thanked him for the gift and the surprise.
- Shuichi hugged you back.
- (Tenko was totally not about to attack Shuichi when she saw you crying.)
- You had the best day ever!!!
Kaede
- She already had a gift for you even before your birthday.
- She couldn't wait to buy a gift so she bought it one month ago.
- She was the one who prepared all the decorations and foods.
- She invited everyone to celebrate your birthday.
- Kaede was the one who woke you up and led you downstairs.
- There you saw a large table filled with food on top of it.
- Kaede held your hand with hers as she walks with you towarcs the crowd.
- Kaede gets the cake from the table and brings it close to you before saying "Happy Birthday".
- You made a wish and everyone clapped their hands and wished you a happy birthday.
- Kaede then gives you a gift from her and told you to open it.
- You gave her a thank you and told her that you were shocked when you saw everyone here.
- You also told her that you weren't used in celebrating your own birthday.
- And she swears that this will be the most perfect birthday out of all birthdays!
AND ADVANCE HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU ANON! GIVING LOTS OF LOVES!! </33

Something that really grates on me about a lot of anti-Koma people is the complete lack of empathy for Nagito in regards to his actions from the Dead Room to the Chapter 5 Trial. Treating it as if it's the single most reprehensible thing any culprit has done over the course of the entire series. When it is pretty much the exact same shit that Asahina was pulling in the first game's fourth trial. But with a far less petty motive. We see how the remaining five survivors react when they discover the truth of the NWP in Chapter 6. They are all on the verge of a breakdown as it all starts to become too much for them, and they only narrowly pull themselves back together to initiate the shutdown. Now imagine how they would react if: 1. All those survivors were isolated from each other when they learned the truth. 2. They were not made aware of the fact that their apparent turn to evil wasn't actually voluntary, and that they too are victims. 3. They did not have the three DR1 survivors and AI Chiaki to offer moral support during these revelations. 4. They were not made aware that any person who dies in the simulation will actually be possessed by Junko's AI in the real world. Because those were the circumstances of Nagito learning the "truth" in Chapter 4! His antis get so worked up over his bitchiness towards Hajime and the others, that they refuse to see just how tragic and pitiable the situation really is. What at first seems like a bizarre and vicious betrayal is actually a young man finally having his spirit broken after a life of endless traumas. Becoming so ashamed and disgusted with himself that the only thing he can think of as a small act of penance is to torture himself to death and get his classmates executed for their crimes. While not realizing that he's inadvertently aiding the same Ultimate Despair he's trying to stop. And it pisses me off when it bleeds over into fanfics too, with most of the cast ostracizing him for it. Because come the fuck on. Characters like Teruteru, Fuyuhiko, and Peko really don't much have a leg to stand on with that, considering their actions would have had essentially the same result if the class trials went their way. Me personally I like to think they'd keep a careful watch on him. But also make clear to him that while they don't condone his actions and think he made a terrible mistake, they're not going to condemn him either. Acknowledging that if they'd been in his position, they don't know what they might have been capable of. Considering how his character grew, I like to think Fuyuhiko would be one of the first people to admit that he'd probably have reacted just the way Monokuma wanted him to if he'd been given that special "prize".
YESS this! this right here omg, i love talking about this.
i think it's really easy for people to treat nagito with a total lack of empathy because of just how far removed nagito is from his own humanity. so a lot of people just put the insane label on him and don't take much of a further look at his actions. but the reality is that every action he's taking holds so much meaning and has never not had a well thought out reason. doesn't make them justifiable, but does offer so much more depth into his character than just being "crazy."
also i agree on the aoi part, i really don't get how people hate nagito for chapter 5 but don't say anything about aoi trying to get her classmates killed in the trial. dont get me wrong, thats not me ragging on her, because i adore aoi. its just the inconsistencies in how people treat characters for their actions that bother me. i think people forget just how much of a stressful situation the cast is in. suddenly waking up where you're not supposed to be, missing memories, knowing your friend or you might die at any moment, not to mention the investigations and trials; thats all pretty fucked up.
and like you said, nagito was ENTIRELY on his own when he learned the truth about everything happening. he was already in a lot of mental distress when the killings started, so the whole "truth" would have just completely broken him. he's been so violently traumatized his entire life, literally everything has been taken for him and supposedly he's going to die from his illness soon since there's nothing left for his luck to take. the only thing he's been able to do is cope through his obsession with hope, (and if we remove the obsession with hope and just focus on the fact that they're inside a simulation and caused the world to end, that's already stressful enough. the main cast BARELY coped even with all the help) so when you take that into account AND that he was actively working against the one thing that could never leave him (hope)- that's pretty fucking destroying! the only way for him to not lose the last thing he had, was to commit suicide in the way he did. which he full heartedly believed was for the greater good.
the sheer mental distress you would have to be under to be totally okay with torturing yourself before committing suicide is, KIND OF A LOT lol. also, props to him for coming up with such an elaborate plan despite the stress he was under. i honestly feel like his death was heavily foreshadowed. the entire game he talks about wanting to be a stepping stone for hope and that he's okay with being killed for it. his entire life has all just been one big tragedy too. the way he died, his motives behind it, and goal to become the ultimate hope; it was honestly a great ending for him. but im not gonna go into depth on that because im already probably getting off topic here whoops
but lets talk about his bitch arc for a second (chapter 4.) people blow it SO out of proportion. nagito was an asshole for one afternoon and was bullying hajime because he's angry he's in love with some loser. its just funny to me how some people make it a huge deal and use it to say nagito hates hajime. in chapter 5 before he dies, he literally shows remorse for his actions and barely anyone talks about it!. i can talk about that a bit more on a different post if someone is curious but im trying not to let this get ungodly long lmao
also yes, the way characters in fanon will be overly critical with nagito. while i do believe they were a littleee bit harsh with him in the game (another thing i could rant about but i'll spare you) i really don't think they would hate him after the simulation. on the final trial with junko, they almost let her win. and when they learn about being remnants and they all wake up, i think they would have come to understand nagito at least a LITTLE bit better. literally none of them are inoccent, so they probably came to realize they weren't all that much better than nagito. while we don't really see nagito interact with the other characters much in the danganronpa 3 hope arc; he looks to be on good terms with the rest of the cast. and just judging by how they all agreed to just live for the future and put the past behind them, i do think they would try their best to give nagito a chance, even if they're a bit weirded out by him. also i totally agree with the fuyuhiko bit! i think he's a very reasonable person that understand morally grey areas, so i like to think he was one of the first to start giving nagito a chance.
okay sorry that this was SO long oh my god. i cannot make myself stop talking sometimes, especially if it's nagito related sdhjfbsdfkhjb. but thanks for the ask because i find discussing this stuff super interesting!!! <3

Megamind Komahina AU (MegaLuck)
I saw this post on Youtube by @/Mcdonalds-Qiqi and I was like I should 100% write about this. And that's what I did. It's not done, like, at all, but it's prob the longest thing I've ever written (6000 words is a lot for me). I rewatched Megamind for it and that was a fun watch and YES this is 100% just Megamind but with Komahina flavouring so have a little taste with some scenes under the cut.
(Also this wasn't gonna be my first writing post but I mean I'm silly at heart sometimes yknow.)
If someone asked Komaeda how he was doing, he’d usually respond with “Fine, but I’m sure my luck will kick in at some point.” Had they asked him now, he’d say, “Ah, I’m fine” and not dwell any further on what would be considered quite an unlucky day. Alas, good luck will surely come out of this, even if his body is used as a vessel to do so.
Falling from a high depth does not feel like flying.
It just feels like falling from a high altitude, and an instinctive part of himself still wants to salvage this, remain alive even after losing essentially everything. He always loses everything in the end, doesn’t he? This is something he’s prepared for his entire life. Yet, of course, it still doesn’t seem to curb that jolt of displeasure that permeates through his body, the uncertainty in knowing that you want to cling and push everything away at the same time just to preserve your… emotions, fickle as they are. [But he’s the reason he’s here, after all].
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
When it came down to it, he was lucky to live, even if that luck is substantiated by losing his parents and meeting the other that had everything given to him on a silver platter.
He and Naegi weren’t in the same class, but whenever his luck struck, Makoto was there to stop it, and everyone blamed him for the bad things that happened. He couldn’t hate them for it either. He blames himself too.
Some people don't really believe in such unseeable forces. Yet how else could he explain a plane going rogue, and being the only living being to see the terrible aftermath of it? Of experiencing being kidnapped, and being able to get out of that? Who else could it be besides Lady Luck?
Yet he is grateful to her. Otherwise, how else would he be rich? Be smart of mind, besides being tainted in health? He should be grateful...
He should be.
But he looks at his arm and only speaks to the metal that is there, the little characters on the screen being his only company. Everyone else stares at the teacher pointing at the board toward something he figured out already, when he last snuck a glance at it anyway. Now, he's left with his familiar position of facing brown wallpaper. It's a very boring brown. It's worse when he has to hear his classmates talking about him. They're all so void of doing anything useful.
"Can we pwease pwease pwease do something?! This is, like, soooo boring!"
The class hushes her, along with her fellow companion on the screen. Indeed, his classmates would be more useful in another way. They're so predictable.
In a quieter tone, the pink-haired girl looks up from the console in her hands to say, "You can go play the quiet game, Junko. That'll surely entertain you, I think." And immediately looks back down. Junko squawks her protests. He wonders if Chiaki is actually playing a game, or if the sprite's just for show.
Nagito hums. The AI instantly blinks at him, crossing her arms. "The fuck? What's got you looking so happy?"
"Hope is going to be plentiful today."
"What the hell's that supposed to mea-"
BOOM!
"OH HELL YEAH!"
"JUNKO!!!"
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
Hajime blearily opens his eyes. Light blinds his vision, and he blinks it away. As it clears, fluffy white hair and pale skin greet him, a white T-shirt hanging loosely off their thin frame. Their long eyelashes frame the entrancing evergreen eyes, with a foggy dreaminess melting into him. Is this an angel?
"Oh, you're awake." The voice says.
Who...? "Leave me alone."
The person steps back. "Sorry, I'm not about to do that when you look that tired. Are you okay? You seem pretty out of it."
He stares outside. There's a beautiful moon out, and again, no stars. Typical. "...It's been a rough day." He cuddles the soft fabric closer. So nice and warm-
Wait... soft fabric?
He immediately looks down to the dark green clothing in his hand.
"Oh, yeah, you started shivering so I just gave you my sweater. You're free to keep it if you want."
His face burns, and he wordlessly tosses the sweater back. "Thanks, but I'm fine. Who are you? I wasn’t expecting to see anyone else besides Touko."
The pale man's smile turns serene. "Ah, I’m new, I started a while back. I’m helping Touko clear out some essentials since the building is getting renovations. It should be happening fairly soon, so let’s get out of here, shall we?"
"Really?" He doesn't recall anything like that happening, but he wouldn't be surprised considering Naegi is...
"Alright, I’ll come with you."
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
"Junko. Where the hell is Komaeda?" Hajime snarls.
Now, Nagito knows he should say something to that, but… He said my name.
"Uh…" He stutters.
"Junko! Don't hurt him!" He hears his own voice say. He looks to his arm, where Junko's sprite sends a cheeky wink. He should probably figure out when she decided to record his voice later...
Unfortunately for him, Hajime only glares at him harder. "I will not fucking hesitate, you bitch! Let him go!"
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
Hajime’s taking quite a while. He doesn’t resent it, he shall wait however long he needs to, but this is a little unusual for him. If anything, Hajime’s quite punctual. He can’t even talk to Junko or Chiaki, since they seem to have closed off their connection with him.
The reporter finally shows up, a little messy. His ahoge is more limp than normal. He swiftly pulls the velvet chair to sit on. "God, sorry I'm late Komaeda." He huffs.
"Oh, it's no worries, Hinata-kun. I understand why you might not have wanted to come for trash like m-"
"No! It's not that!" He's quickly met with. The white-haired man easily smiles. So easy. The frown turns into a pout. "Oh, you're teasing me again."
"Haha, sorry. It's really fun." Hajime opens his mouth to protest. Ah, can't have that. "What happened?" He shoots out.
The other's mouth shuts closed. Olive eyes stare him down warily, and he tilts his head. The look is 100% his we're not done with this topic but I'm dropping it because you really love doing this shit, yet he really just wants to know what has Hajime so disheveled. If someone hurt him-
Hajime immediately dives into what happened within the past few hours, being tossed around by Fragment and how Fragment's his best friend while he's left with dread pooling within him.
"I love him, I do, but right now he really doesn't need these powers. The last thing he needs is another reason to feel perfect for Sonia. I’ve been trying to help him deal with rejection, but this really… really fucked with him. And shit went down."
Why would Fragment attack Hinata-kun, this wasn't meant to happen-
Hajime shuts his eyes. He rubs his temples. "I'd rather not deal with all this. Let's just eat."
He resists the urge to bite his lip. The temptation to comfort is so high, but knowing he was the cause of it...
Furrowed eyes meet his gaze, and soften. He gulps. A tanned hand reaches out, and he reaches out his own-
For his glass.
"To you, Komaeda, for being the not insane part of my life right now." Hajime grins, lifting his cup in the air.
Komaeda chuckles politely. If only you knew.
"I'm always happy to be with you, Hajime."
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
[He's hoping to get lucky one last time.]
“Providing hope… feels pretty good.”

I’m happy you’re liking it so far!! :D (I was going to put the entire dr3 story in one ask but over 2000 words was just too much ! Lol )
So, Saki was going to go with Nagito to the vending machine but remembered there were other things she had to do, so they separated. A flower she was looking for should have been around this fountain area but it’s nowhere to be seen.
She was going to do a double-check, re-looking at her notes to make sure she was in the right area. When she bumped into Hajime! Saki apologized and went to grab the notebook she dropped when Hajime had the same idea.
They just stared at each other awkwardly for a moment before Saki stood up to let him grab it, thanking him. And maybe by random chance, he might be able to help so she asked him if he had seen the flower she was looking for.
So, she showed him a picture and asked! It was a good thing she did because Hajime mentioned that he did see something similar to what she was looking for that was actually at a park nearby! She hugged and thanked him!
Which made Hajime feel so awkward because it came out of nowhere. Then Saki realized she had written the wrong location but she was still grateful for his help regardless.
Chisa showed up and introduced herself since Saki was the last person she was looking for. Chisa noticed Hajime's reserve course outfit and asked him about it. then she had to run after “Ryota” when he tried to escape.
Saki had to write in her notebook while she waited to fix the mistake she made so she went to the right place this time! Hajime mentions that, that Main course student seemed a bit ridiculous because he thought they’d be more like elites and wished he had a talent too. Saki just says that talented or not they’re still human.
And having a talent or being a part of Hope’s Peak might not be everything he thinks it is. Besides he could be anything he wanted to be. He might not be the best to be called an ultimate but still, he had so much freedom. When Chisa comes back, grabbing Saki’s hand and saying bye to Hajime before dragging her away.
Even though Saki wanted to go to the park before she went back to the Main course she just decided to do it tomorrow and gave a wave of goodbye to Hajime!
It’s been a bit since and they’ve had perfect attendance and you know it was fine they haven’t come together as a group but at least some were having fun. Like Akane and Nekomaru even though they were destroying the classroom. She does end up leaving because it was distracting and she can’t focus on her research.
Ryota was also outside the classroom. He talks about having friends or being united as a group doesn’t matter because they’re elites and all they need to do is graduate to succeed in life. While Saki doesn’t completely agree with that she does think that it’d be hard to make friends because being a botanist isn’t that interesting and sometimes it feels like that’s all she’s good for.
Chisa pops up giving her a speech on how she’s sure there are other things that Saki likes to do that can do with the class! But she also doesn’t even know if other people don’t want to hear about her talent because she never even tried to say anything about it! She is way more than just talent and it’s not important to live a happy life.
So this part I did have trouble with because I wasn’t sure how to have Saki bond with her classmates with something that fits her character and also something the rest of the class would do. But I did come up with something so you can tell me what you think!
I haven’t mentioned this yet but Saki has always been a pretty creative person! She loves making things, things like beaded necklaces/bracelets, flower crowns, and sometimes earrings.
The flower choker and leaf hair clip she wears she made herself using real plants! Same with all her flower crowns. So since she likes to do these things maybe her classmates would too. She brought everything she had to the classroom and they were just going to have fun and make whatever they wanted.
I do think it would take some convincing to get everyone on board because it may not sound as fun as it ended up being! But also the way she bonds with Hajime is a bit different mostly because I can’t really imagine them just doing arts and crafts, maybe sometimes.
So instead she bonds by talking! She can tell he’s insecure and she wants to help if she can. One of the chats she had with him was about how she also had high expectations for Hope’s Peak and the people around it. Before she got accepted she was somewhat indifferent toward the school.
Only because she just never assumed she’d get it so she tried to not let it bother her. She thought it’d be a hard-working school with hard-working people! That’d be super stressful and difficult.
Then she did get accepted and she was shocked but honored because to her it seemed like they thought she was good enough to handle it. They wouldn’t have invited her if they didn’t think she could do it, you know? Then she got there and well it wasn’t like that at all, you don’t even have to attend classes as long as you pass the exams. Safe to say she was disappointed.
But also being in the Main course or having a talent didn’t get her to become friends with her classmates. Sure it was the reason she met all of them and even Hajime but 2 months ago she still only hung around with her one friend that she knew before Hope’s Peak but she was the one who tried to make an effort to be friends with them by being herself.
So basically what she’s trying to say she that Hajime probably won’t find the confidence he’s looking for by being a Main Course student or having talent. It all comes from him only.
Saki also officially became the class rep showing how she was willing to defend Hiyoko from Teruteru during the food scene by giving a hard backhand slap to his face. She wasn’t going to accept at first thinking she wasn’t fit for it but everyone’s support made her go for it.
But she was getting closer to her classmates and Hajime having a good time! Hajime was late to their usual hangout spot but he did show up. He couldn’t stay because he had something to take care of but asked Saki to make a bunch of memories for him.
Saki agreed and said that she’d see him tomorrow. Then the school gymnasium had an explosion which led to the suspension of Nagito and Chisa leaving to teach at the Reserve Course for 6 months.
Saki promised to protect her classmates for the time being while Chisa was out but it was kind of a struggle. Part of her felt lonely she’d never been away from Nagito like this basically since they met. Hajime still hasn’t shown up and now Chisa’s gone.
That's soooo interesting having the person you've known practically your whole life be suspended and having to improvise is interesting lol. I enjoy the way she empathizes, obviously, and knows how to articulate the main points better than Chiaki did. I think them getting closer by her talking and giving flower gifts to the class is sweet! I like how much she values consent much like Nagito, I can imagine she was at least slightly influenced by him since cares about it so so much (which GOOD!)

Tumblr media
Thank you, thank you Sparks. It's been a long time coming, but we are finally done with this first arc on this blog. Which means; it's time for our very first:
ARC OVERVIEW!
Now what is an "Arc Overview", I hear you ask. An Arc Overview is where I give you the general rundown of everything in this arc; things I liked doings, things I didn't like, maybe some fun facts of things that didn't make it in, etc. With all of that out of the way, let's take dive i to the "Jabberwock Island Arc Overview"!
....
........
...............
Tumblr media
Really? You all made it and stuck with me through this thing? Seriously? Wow... Thank you all so much. I first want to take this time and just show my gratitude for you all, for being here, supporting me and the story of this blog. It really means a lot to me.
I want to give special attention to @etriansquad-yssey, @dtgvxg, @daebreaker1, @xsuicunex2, @spyrkle4, @overanalyst556, and every anon that has been here since day 1. You all are amazing, and without you this story wouldn't have gone anywhere. So I thank you for all the support you've given me. It truly mean a lot to me in ways words can't even begin to say.
Another shout-out and thank you to is to @ghostshadow-k-r, without they didn't need to draw Kebi sprites for me, but they did, and I am eternally grateful for that. And thanks to you, our little mascot looks even more adorable!
Tumblr media
And it's no secret that I have been inspired by Mod Bubbles, Mod Poi, and Mod Creeper's blogs of ASOOT, NWPM/DTFA, DRSurvivor respectfully, so if they see this I want to thank them again for their hardwork and for inspiring me to pursue a story blog of my own. And one more thank you to Mod Poi as well, I enjoy our talks together and your help. I really appreciate that.
But yeah, hoo wee, onto the actual arc itself. And, I feel it didn't that long at all, I mean time flew by so fast, like-
.....huh? ....Oh, I'm sorry, what? .....It's been long...like a long, long time..... W-Well, okay then....h-how long could it have been...?
Tumblr media
A YEAR?!?!?!!?!?
That's not good.... Uh, heh heh heh......
Well, I'm sorry about that. This arc did take much longer than I was anticipating.... But with work and personal life shenanigans, as well as my mental health states, and sometimes just being not motivated or tired to work on the story did slow it down a bit...
I hope to not have this be the precedent for arcs going forward and will try my best going forward, but I think I can say the next arc won't take as long.... I hope....
Not only helped by times even I was tired of where I was in the story and just wanted to move on to the next beat because it sounded much more fun. Or simply because I forgot what I wanted to do or have characters say in certain moments.
But there was a lot I did like in this arc. I liked writing Hajime and his struggles, and the whole side arc with Mahiru was done well, I liked getting the chance to include Kebi, that was fun, and getting to show off Tenten.
But there are two big elephants we need to address, so let's do it now shall we?
Tumblr media
Ah yes, Nagito Komaeda. Danganronpa's icon and forever meme boi. Who I am sure sparks no discourse whatsoever with his presence.........haaaa...
Writing Nagito has certainly been challenging, as you've seen I'm o the belief that not everyone should have immediately forgiven him and Nagito shouldn't be babied because of his disease and health. He is smart enough to solve the crimes or at the very least, have some suspects in mind when it comes to the class trials so he is very intelligent. And while Nagito has gotten his share of humble pie from the anons, there have also come some toxic fudge as well drizzled in there. I need not go any further for many of you to know what I'm talking about. And maybe I have mistakenly gave the impression that this kind of behavior was allowed because this arc went on for so long, but even so, there have been numerous moments where the line has been crossed.
This arc has been about characters coming to terms with their actions and striving to better somewhat, and they can't get better if they are constantly stepped down on when the attempts are honestly being made. Redemption is not an easy path for those who choose to walk it, but they also shouldn't be deliberately run over either.
But for the most part, it was pretty tame. I mean, could you imagine if there was another character like this who I may have written worse and have constant discourse battles in my ask box about this concept everytime they were on screen? Pfft! Wouldn't that be wild! Ahahaha-
Tumblr media
Oh...it's you...... Heeeeeeeee.........Hiiiiiiiiii.......
Look, I have not hid this. Hiyoko is not my favorite character in this cast. Probably in this whole franchise. But even still, I tried to make do with Hiyoko to the best of my abilities, but as you can see, it didn't bode well with a select few.
"Unsalvageable" Many claimed Hiyoko was unsalvageable, and it's easy to see why. I will admit. I may have gone overboard with the annoying bully part of character, which as you can see brought an onslaught of dicussions and ask from her many fans or "simps" as me and Mod Poi like to address them by. And to think...this would have been so much worse...
I think it's about time I tell you all what I initially had planned for Hiyoko that would make many hate me, huh? So I'm pretty sure after Hajime's therapy and intervention session, we would just time skip to when Mikan wakes up. She has amnesia, can't remember anything, yada yada yada. All that stays the same. Except one thing; Hiyoko's there this time. And she would claim that Mikan is merely faking her amnesia. And so to prove it, Hiyoko would go see Mikan alone, bully her some more like pulling on her hair, hitting her etc, and even trying to kill her as revenge, the same way Mikan did to her. Everyone comes in just in time to stop her, then Mahiru would end her friendship with Hiyoko, and the arc would essentially end the same.
........So you can see why I dropped that, right? I'm going to claim what I rewrote was better, it was still kind of messed up, but I needed Hiyoko to truly awaken, have her eyes opened and truly reflect on what she had done. All Hiyoko does is deflect and dismiss any sort of consequence that comes her way, Hiyoko needed to be face with the reality and to stop living in her own little bubble. That was I was trying to go for with her here. And if I ever did wrong by her, then I apologize and I will try to make her better as the arcs go on.
All in all, writing this blog has been fun, stressful, calming, exhausting, exciting, and frustrating. ...But I loved doing it. And once again, I'm thankful to you all for sticking it with me this far.
I'm going to take a little break to fine tune some parts of the next arc going forward, but I also have some posts planned to stay in touch with you guys. So until then look forward to that, and I will you see you all when we return for the next arc which is...the Future Foundation Arc......
Tumblr media
....oh god.... A-Ahem! See you all then!

Time to go to the aqua zoo! Along with smol snek!!! Who has the most devious of plots. Hehehe.
Another suggestion from @bobasriduur! You got lots of good ideas, my friend. Thank ya for all the help!
And you can send me ideas as well! Just comment down below!
Nagito pet the head of his tiger and plesiosaur plushes in his terrarium with a smile. He tried to make sure that they were always clean and presentable, even though only he and Hajime were going to see them. But he still did it, as he loved his space and possessions to be clean.
He was grateful that Hajime also tried to keep his apartment clean. He wasn’t sure what would have happened if his human was a messy person. Seeing the mess and not being able to clean would have driven him crazy. But he was fortunate, a fact he reminded himself of every day.
Currently, Hajime was on his bed, typing stuff on his laptop. The naga wasn’t sure exactly what he was doing. Could be homework, could be something else. It didn’t matter too much to him, as he was at an angle where he could watch him work. And he could see Hajime’s expression change every so often from the comfort of his terrarium with his stuffed animals. It was wonderful to witness.
But he would admit that he had a bit of a selfish desire. He wanted more; more stuffed animals to fill his area. But he wasn’t exactly sure what he wanted yet, and he didn’t want to drain Hajime’s wallet. So he would have to grow his collection with strategic moves over time.
Luckily for him, a potential opportunity presented itself to him. “Hey, it looks like there’s an aquarium nearby. There’s a sale on tickets. Want to go?”
“An aquarium? That’s like the zoo, right? But just for aquatic animals,” Nagito asked, getting excited. Not just because of the potential of new plushies, of course. He actually was interested in learning more about the world’s species. And anything he did outside the apartment with his human was fantastic.
“Yeah, that’s right. I’m assuming you are on board with this. We can go tomorrow afternoon.” Hajime glanced over top of his laptop to see the naga, a half-smile present.
“Yes! I’m excited to go!” Nagito replied, hugging his tiger’s neck in happiness. Tomorrow, yes, he could wait that long. An adventure awaited, and he looked forward to it.
~~~~~~~~~~
Time passed. And soon, the new day was upon them. Which meant that their plans could commence.
This conclusion was running through Nagito’s mind as he laid coiled around the human’s neck while he traveled to the aquarium. He didn’t bother to try and hide, knowing that he was safe to be out and in sight. And everyone around them were being respectful, with no one trying to approach to ask questions. He watched with observant eyes as Hajime walked, interested in all the sights they passed. But none could compare to the actual aquarium building. Decorations depicting coral reefs and some of its inhabitants were on display, indicating what could be found inside. The walls of the building were also painted with marine life. It was all so colorful. He couldn’t wait to see these animals in real life.
And maybe perhaps get one in stuffed animal form, but that would come later.
For now, he gazed at everything. He hardly registered Hajime presenting the tickets and speaking with the other humans. He was too enraptured with looking at everything.
Then they entered the first room with the giant tank.
Every ounce of air was stolen from his lungs when he first laid eyes upon it. It was so enormous, with all sorts of colorful creatures happily swimming around. So many shapes and sizes. It was nearly impossible to count every individual animal inside. “It’s so beautiful. I could watch this for hours,” Nagito whispered.
Hajime heard him and replied. “I could, too. It’s truly something special.”
The two fell silent as they watched the fish swim around for a good ten minutes. But eventually, Hajime tapped on the green tail. “Hey, there’s more areas we can go see. There’s a lot more animals they have living here.”
Nagito looked up at his human, shocked. “They have more? More than what’s in here?”
Hajime grinned, amused by his reaction. “Oh yeah. There’s a lot more. Let’s go see them.”
And so they left the enormous tank behind to see the others who were in their own enclosures. And Nagito was astounded by every single one. The jellyfish that floated around in their cylindrical tank. The horseshoe crabs that he got to touch. The eels that poked their heads out of their pots to look at him. The turtles, both freshwater and saltwater varieties, and their colorful shells.
But none impressed Nagito more than the octopus. The way it moved and looked were already impressive enough, but it also changed its patterns and colors right before their eyes! He didn’t think that was actually possible! “What an amazing creature. So unique and talented,” he found himself whispering, entranced by the octopus.
He felt Hajime move his head to glance down at him. And he also felt the muscles in his neck move as the human smiled. “It really is. It’s one of my favorite sea creatures.”
“I think it’s mine, too.” Nagito squeezed his coils in excitement at a new thought. “I wonder if they sell stuffed animal versions of the octopi. What colors would they choose to make them?”
Hajime caught on. “I bet you are going to ask me to buy you an octopus plush. Am I right?”
Nagito looked up without an ounce of shame. “We simply must bring home a souvenir to help remind us of our time here! And I choose to get an octopus. Simple as that.”
The brunette rolled his eyes, though he still was smiling. “I swear, you are the most spoiled naga.”
Having just gotten confirmation that he was indeed getting his prize, he thanked the human with a neck hug. “Perhaps I am. But I am nonetheless grateful to my Hajime for his kindness and generosity.”
He wasn’t fooled by the human’s indifferent huff, as he could feel the skin heat up under his touch. “Fine. We can go to the gift shop. But only one thing, got it?”
“Understood.” Nagito rose and gave Hajime’s cheek a nuzzle. “Thank you.”
The human certainly turned red at that, making the people around them grin at the sight. Hajime tried to calm himself down and walk away, ignoring the knowing giggles of the other visitors. He had managed to make the blush mostly disappear by the time they arrived in the gift shop. Several different types of items were for sale including clothing, home and lawn decorations, toys, and books. But Nagito had his sights trained on a specific section. The rows and rows of stuffed animals. And to his delight, there were indeed some octopi for sale.
But then came his dilemma. Which color should he choose? There were so many options, but he was limited to one. So what color did he like the best?
As he agonized, he was barely aware that Hajime was moving, arm stretching to grab something. He didn’t have to wait long until the reason was revealed.
“This one was kinda hidden on top. I wonder why it was in a different area. Oh well, I suppose it doesn’t matter. What do you think?”
And now, before his eyes, was an octopus with rainbow fabric. The colors swirled and mixed perfectly, creating a beautiful pattern. “That’s the one. I shall choose this octopus,” Nagito declared, reaching out to pet the head.
“Alright. It’s yours,” Hajime replied, beginning to head to the register. “You will have to make room for it in your terrarium. Better start planning.”
“Oh, don’t you worry. I already have a plan in mind,” the naga said cheekily. His tail tip swayed with happiness as he watched the rainbow octopus be lowered into a paper bag. Yes, he was pleased with today. New memories and a new friend had been made. He couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.
Tumblr media
Izuru? Wait, what do you mean? What about Hajime?
Tumblr media
Oh...right, you guys don't know yet...
Tumblr media
Kazuichi and I have heard things from Zetsubou...But we don't know the full story.
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
Allow me to explain...
_______________________________________________________
Tumblr media
Are...Are you serious...!?
Tumblr media
Hajime's...gone...?
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
Fuyuhiko and I heard some stuff from Nagito himself, but we didn't think he was actually telling the truth...
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
Personally, I don't think it's too late to find a way to bring Hajime back. His mind and soul has to be in there somewhere.
Tumblr media
But regardless, until we find a way to bring him back, Izuru Kamukura is currently taking control of his body. And thankfully, he has been...mostly cooperative until now.
Tumblr media
Yeah! "Mostly!" He can be such a brat sometimes.
Tumblr media
Well, if Izuru really is here somewhere...then where the heck IS he?
_______________________________________________________
[Somewhere else in the lab]
Tumblr media
Where the heck ARE we!?
Tumblr media
In the factory, close to where I need to be.
*Izuru continues to traverse the hallways of the factory with Chiaki in his shirt pocket. Several Monokuma's and soldiers try to attack him, but they fall before they even have a chance to lunge at him.
Tumblr media
Izuru...I know this is stating the obvious, but you're kind of terrifying.
Tumblr media
And also REALLY annoying! Can you at least give me a hint as to where we're going!?
Tumblr media
You'll see soon enough. Explaining it to you would be a waste of time...
Tumblr media
H-Hey!
Tumblr media
What I mean is it's much better if I show you...
*Izuru expertly navigates the factory until he finally comes across a gigantic iron vault door.
Tumblr media
...Hoooo...
*PANG!* *BOOOOOOOM!*
*He breaks it wide open with a single wave of his hand. The door also destroys the mounted machine guns on the wall.
Tumblr media
...How boring...
Tumblr media
Hang on. Aren't those cannons fully automated? Why didn't they shoot you?
Tumblr media
Because I am capable of completely masking my life signs and presence to the point that even they cannot detect me. I'm just grateful you stayed still and quiet.
Tumblr media
Oh...Yeah...Sorry, I keep forgetting that you're basically God.
Tumblr media
Don't overexxagerate. Now look...
Tumblr media
Huh...?
Tumblr media
H-Huuuh...!?
Tumblr media
Chiaki: W-What is this!?
Izuru: ...
Chiaki: I-In those vats...Are those...PEOPLE!?
Izuru: Do you not remember the sole reason why we invaded this lab in the first place? This is Shirogane's experiment.
Chiaki: Experiment...Wait, you mean-?
Izuru: A poor imitation of the project if I've ever seen one...These must be the Zetsubou soldiers that Shirogane saw fit to..."upgrade."
Chiaki: She's...making them all into Ultimate Hope's...
Izuru: And should she have her way, she'll use this army to ravage the world. The Future Foundation needs to stop that.
Chiaki: This must be the place where Nagito and Ayumu became Ultimate Hope's too...There's so much surgical equipment...and dry blood...
Two Blank Faces: Part 1
*SLAASH!*
Tumblr media
Ok! That should be the last of them!
Tumblr media
Alright! Are you guys ready!
Tumblr media
Charges planted!
Tumblr media
Ready!
Tumblr media
Indubitably!
Tumblr media
Ok, back up! NOW!
Tumblr media
WOOP!
*BOOOOOOOOOM!*
Tumblr media
GAAGGH! AAGḀ̸̀́A̵̳̥̅͋À̵̢̼Ȕ̵̞Ù̸͈̔G̵̻̜͑͘g̵̓͜g̷̮̙̚ġ̵̰g̴̣̯͐g̵̢̺̊h̷̞̑h̷̼̉̚h̶̫̉.̵̡̒.̷̩́̽
*At Mahiru's command, Ibuki flips the switch, and the planted charges detonate, destroying the key functions of the Monokuma production line machine.
Tumblr media
...Did...Did we get it? Is it finally over?
*Kazuichi does a quick inspection.
Tumblr media
Yep. Down and out.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, I was kinda hoping that it'd shut down the already active Monokuma's too, but I guess the network is somewhere else.
Tumblr media
Still, consider this machine trashed!
Tumblr media
Hooo!
*Hiyoko clutches her head and falls to the floor, relieved. She isn't the only one.
Tumblr media
Thank god that's finally over...
Tumblr media
That was way more trouble than it should have been...But we did it!
Tumblr media
Yeah, that was rough though...I can only imagine how you two are feeling...Getting brought back to life and immediately being subjugated like that...I'm sure it's not what you were expecting.
Tumblr media
Heh...Funny...It's EXACTLY what I was expecting...
Tumblr media
I don't mean to burst the bubble of relief, but we shouldn't celebrate just yet. Knowing Zetsubou, there are probably more than one of those machines dotted around the factory.
Tumblr media
As Kazuichi said, shutting this one down didn't deactivate the network. Finding and deactivating that may be the key to stopping these cretins.
Tumblr media
But for now, we should consider this a big victory.
Tumblr media
Yeah...plus, it won't be too hard to take care of the rest of the Monokuma's and soldiers now that one of Zetsubou's heavy hitters is off our backs.
Tumblr media
If you will permit me to state something contentious, we would never have been able to triumph in this battle had Nagito not lent us his aid when he did.
Tumblr media
Hate to admit it, but he's right. He...saved us back there.
Tumblr media
So what, we owe him a favor now?
Tumblr media
We owe him THANKS...if nothing else.
Tumblr media
...Fine...I guess I am pretty grateful...That doesn't mean I forgive him entirely yet.
Tumblr media
That's fine. I know I don't. That said, I hope he's ok. He's kind of our only hope at holding them back.
Tumblr media
Yeah...especially since Izuru is god knows where.
Tumblr media
Yeah, where the hell did Izuru go!? We wouldn't've needed Nagito's help if he had stuck around!
Tumblr media
He also took Chiaki with him, so we're lacking in a GPS that can help us track down any other machines of note.
Hi! Same anon here who asked for the "worst things about being w/ the SDR2 cast" work. I really liked it! Following up on it, may I request what are the best things about being in a relationship with the characters? Thank you!
Glad u enjoyed it :)
The best thing about being with teruteru is how loving he is, despite being a pervert he can really show how much he loves you. Constantly cooking for you, doing small things around the house like cleaning and offering to massage your back when you had a rough day.
Mahiru is perfection, how could I possibly say what the best thing about being with her is? She’s good at taking care of you, she’s protective and loving, she makes you feel cared for as well and constantly makes you feel good about yourself.
Peko makes you feel like you’re the only person in the world. To her, you are. She’s protective of you and tells you how much you mean to her, when she gets the chance.
Ibuki is energetic, yeah shocker right? But she’s energetic in your relationship in many different aspects. She’s eager to see you, try new things with you, she’s excited to do things she wouldn’t even find interesting, so long as she’s with you she’s ecstatic.
Hiyoko notices things about you others don’t. She knows what makes you happy or what may make you uncomfortable even if you’re good at hiding your feelings. She does everything she can to make you comfortable.
Mikan will always be there for you if you ever get sick, or hurt, or if something worse happens. If you get a seizure or have an allergic reaction, she knows what to do. She’s a life saver.
Nekomaru is good at motivating you to do things, especially if you’re trying to stay fit or eat healthier. If you deal with depression, or perhaps you’re trying to find the motivation to do chores, he knows how to help you out of any funk!
Gundham just loves helping you with anything, even things he may not quite understand, he wants to be able to assist you in anything and is a very selfless boyfriend.
Nagito is just nice to talk to, surprisingly enough he can afford to not be creepy and babble about hope. He can have a lot of pleasant conversations with you that just make you feel good.
Chiaki isn’t judgmental in the slightest. She is always somebody you can go to, when you just need somebody to listen to you. Whether it’s about some niche interest or perhaps something you did, you’re always comfortable telling her.
Sonia will protect and defend you to the ends of the earth, whether it’s vocal or physical harm (even if she’s a princess) she plans on protecting you and defending your honor. She makes you feel safe.
Akane is always grateful to have you. She may have a hard time expressing it, since she gets flustered easily at the idea of it. However, she never takes you for granted.
Hajime is willing to try new things, always. He will truly do whatever you want, no matter how insane or on the contrary, how boring it is. He has fun as long as he’s with you.
Souda makes you feel good about yourself with his compliments and doting on you constantly with gifts. It’s just so sweet, even if you’re the type that doesn’t handle things like that very well.
Fuyuhiko is surprisingly considerate of you, whether it’s the small things like making sure to put a new roll of toilet paper or something more serious like being considerate of your feelings, he’s always thinking of you first.
Tumblr media
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu
♥ You had been laying on the blankets, distracted by something, looking down at your screen and craning your neck when he finally came home. Though early in the morning, he wakes up much earlier than you to go off with some early-family-business or whatever he does with Peko and the others.
♥ It gives you an excuse to rummage through his drawers when he's gone.
♥ He walks into the room to see you kicking your legs in the air, laying on your stomach like a high-schooler and wearing his boxers.
♥ "H-Hey!" His cheeks turn pink. You just hum, rolling over and sitting up.
♥ "Yeah?"
♥ His first idea was to say knock that shit off, but he realized you weren't exactly doing anything.
♥ He still grumbles under his breath and goes to change out of his work clothes.
.
Nagito Komaeda
♥ Though his brain often convinces himself that he is unappreciated and disrespected, reality will find itself setting in every once in awhile.
♥ Like when he sees you waking up in the morning, getting out of bed to go to the bathroom. He looks at your form in the light. That was when he realized that you had been sleeping with his boxers - how did he not notice?
♥ He even grabbed the material of the pair he was wearing to make sure you didn't strip him over night.
♥ Are you mocking him? Making fun of his outfit?
♥ No, he decided, you wouldn't do that.
♥ His pale eyes watch you in a silent and analytical air.
♥ When your body disappears he allows himself to smile.
♥ So cute.
.
Hajime Hinata
♥ You didn't really mind that he came home early.
♥ "Uh... what are you doing?" He asked you. All you were doing were the dishes - he should be grateful.
♥ The way you looked at him in confusion baffled him. You had to follow his eyes down.
♥ "Oh," you laugh before turning back around, "I wear them all the time. You haven't noticed?"
♥ He only blinks, whereupon you feel his chest pressing against your back. His body is warm - so much warmer than the temperature inside. "You look good." He had said in a soft voice, one that makes you melt.
.
Gundham Tanaka
♥ [that tiktok audio that's like OH GREAT HEAVENS]
♥ Gundham first of all, didn't even know you knew where his bedroom was (how did you figure it out? he hardly lets you into the house). He also hardly wears underwear so where the fuck did you find a pair?
♥ He will blush when he sees you because oh my god he hasn't worn that pair in years and it just looks so adorable on your body.
♥ "I'll allow it." He mutters to no one. You smile, putting your hands on your hips and striking a pose.
♥ He talks again, "You can consider those a gift."
♥ "Mmmm, you're very considerate." You kiss his cheek.
.
Teruteru Hanamura
♥ He wakes up earlier than you so he can cook you breakfast. It's very very sweet - and it gives you access to his clothes (as if you aren't the one mostly doing laundry anyway).
♥ So when you came out in his boxers, he was over this stove.
♥ "Look, look."
♥ He turns and his eyes go wide almost immediately. He puts his hands on his cheeks and (safely) puts the food aside.
♥ "Oh, my gorgeous honeybee, you look magnificent!"
♥ "I think they look rather nice." You give him a twirl.
♥ He wraps his arms around your center and kisses your neck. "Now you wait here, breakfast will be done as soon as you know it."
♥ "I can't wait." You reply. Your chest feels so light - you love it when he compliments you. He always treats you as if you are the best thing in the world.
.
Twogami
♥ He had brought home dinner, eating it alone while you sleep, sick, in the bedroom. He knew that waking you up meant inviting you to the painful living world, so he decided it would be better to let you have your moment of peace.
♥ He cleaned up the kitchen (procrastinating while also making the environment less stressful for you when you do wake up) before making his way to the bedroom.
♥ The door opens slowly. He had already turned off the hallway light, so no outside temperature could sneak in through the peek.
♥ Though, the moon did a well enough job at illuminating the sky. There must be no clouds tonight.
♥ He sees your legs, bare, and he worries about you being cold until his eyes move up and he sees that you're sporting a pair of his boxers.
♥ He feels a bit off-put at first. For once, he is the one being imitated.
♥ His true feeling is flattery. The idea of you loving him enough to wear his things when you need comfort makes his heart beat a little faster.
.
Kazuichi Souda
♥ Okay but this man doesn't do laundry lmao. So if you really wanted, you could have a collection of his underwear (would he notice?).
♥ Anyway the day was hot - extremely hot, so much hotter than it usually is. Kazuichi ditched the jumper and spent the day walking around the neighborhood in his tank top. This is good news for you because you get to see his biceps all day.
♥ You also took off some layers. Sitting in your pajama shirt and a pair of his boxers, you made the couch your new home and put an ice cube in your mouth.
♥ "Woah!" You heard his voice from the entry way. He had a playful smile, his sharp teeth looking goofy with his child-like eyes. "Looking good!"
♥ "I can say the same thing to you."
♥ He looms over your laid position on the couch, using one hand to hold himself up as he leaned down and kissed you (and yes, his bicep flexed. Ugh).
.
Nekomaru Nidai
♥ After showering, you realized that you didn't have almost any clean clothes left. Blast, the clothes were still in the washer. You're going to have to switch that soon. With a sigh, you went through his side of the closet and put a pair of his underwear on.
♥ You had already forgotten about this, making it your mission to go and do the laundry before it gets moldy.
♥ You are very rudely interrupted by being swooped through the air.
♥ His big hands wrap around your waist from behind and he lifts you up.
♥ "That's my pair!" It's more an announcement of surprise than an accusation.
♥ "Yes it is!" You retort back (trying to hide the sarcastic undertone - not that he'd really pick it up anyway).
♥ He lets out a powerful laugh when he puts you down. "One hell of a morning for you to be looking so good."
♥ You laugh, swatting his arms away. "Let me do laundry before I forget."
Hello. May I request Nagito Hajime and Rantaro with a writer S/O preferably he/him
Lord only knows why this was hard to write. Nagitos kind of sucks but the rest of them are fine
Nagito, Hajime, and Rantaro with the Ultimate Writer S/O
NAGITO KOMAEDA
Tumblr media
You two are an AWFUL matchup, honestly
You have awful self care and he just fully indulges you “because it’s for your ultimate!”
Once you’ve drunk three pots of coffee in three days and gotten 20 minutes of sleep (including the blinking), he gets a tad worried.
But it’s not his place to tell you what to do, considering he’s scum compared to you! And you’re always so grateful to him when he brings you meals….
It takes one of your friends coming over for a check in to force you to take care of yourself, and they lecture Nagito about reminding you that you need to actually do things to survive.
On the positive side, though, he’s like your own personal cheerleader! And he’s always willing to help sort through your fanmail and burn anything creepy.
HAJIME HINATA
Tumblr media
You have the opposite problem. You NEVER want to work. You write in monthly magazines, so ideally, you would have your stories at least rough drafted before telling your publication that you’re ready to go.
But you don’t! You’re just winging it, and once Hajime finds out, he starts helping you with your scheduling. He’s a godsend.
More than once, you’ve had to yell at Nagito for insulting Hajime, saying that he’s only useful for helping an Ultimate reach even higher, so he’s glad Hajime knows his place.
When he said that, you snapped and went for him. Nekomaru had to hold you back.
You complained about it to Hajime, and held his shoulders, looking him right in the eyes as you told him that he was worth ten of half the Ultimates you knew, and way more than Nagito thought.
Suddenly, Hajime started making you lunch. Well, it was cheaper to buy the bigger portions, but they always spoil before he eats them all, so you’re helping him, really. And he’s calling you over to sample something that he made, and while you’re there, he can…. Well, he can beta read for you. You know, if you want. No big deal.
When he offered to beta read for you, the only reason you didn’t propose marriage at that moment was because you didn’t have a ring.
RANTARO AMAMI
Tumblr media
Whenever people ask for details about your ultimate, you try to change the subject. Because, see, while you are the Ultimate Writer, you are, more specifically, the Ultimate Technical Writer.
Fuck knows how you got that title, Hope’s Peak was probably short on Ultimates that year.
It’s not the most glamorous title, but it’s fairly nice, and you like redoing what others have done to be more clear and concise.
You met Rantaro at a book signing, actually- turns out one of his sisters loves coding, and you had been the one to decode the authors insane ramblings into something that’s actually able to be read, so you were up there signing books along with xem.
You two hit it off extremely well, and you accidentally wrote your number down in his sister’s book along with your autograph.
He really enjoys hanging out with you, as you have your life together and organized well. He doesn’t need to worry about taking care of you, as he always does with his sisters. He falls fast, and he falls hard.
I’ve been really into Komahina lately. This started off all lighthearted but then became a bucketload of Komahina hurt/comfort. Just because I think Nagito needs more people to care about him. This is post-hope arc when they are just trying to be normal again. - Circle
Warning: descriptions of injuries (nothing serious but requires stitches), blood, some spoilers for SDR2 game and the anime.
Nagito wasn’t surprised when his bad luck struck that day. He’d been having too much of a good time. He’d come to expect this, to feel a wary tension whenever something nice happened because he knew the bad was now right around the corner.
At least this time the luck had affected himself rather than the other Ultimates. The morning had been so happy and relaxed, the perfect conditions for Nagito to let his guard down. He was so grateful to be invited on the beach trip with Hajime, Fuyuhiko and Kazuichi. They’d acted like it was no big deal, like they had no idea of the gravity their invitation held.
“You want to hang out with a nobody like me? The Ultimates are so generous, I don’t deserve such-” Nagito started, but then Hajime put a hand over his mouth, Kazuichi stuck his fingers in his ears and Fuyuhiko told him to shut the fuck up - but all three did this fondly.
It was easy to grow accustomed to the beach when living on a tropical island, but it seemed especially beautiful that day. Blue sea and white sand shimmered with a special sort of exotic glamour - though perhaps that was down to the three other men laughing along and acting like he was equal to them. It was absurd, really, that these Ultimates should give him any attention. He was about to voice this very thought, but then Hajime took Nagito’s hand without hesitation - without a hint of shame - and the words died away. A strange warm feeling bloomed in his chest, heavy and unfamiliar.
Hajime must’ve sensed he was getting overwhelmed, because he led Nagito back up the beach while Kazuichi and Fuyuhiko went swimming. Or at least Fuyuhiko went swimming; Kazuichi paddled and ran for the shore whenever a strand of seaweed brushed against his leg. Hajime spread their towels out in the shade of a palm tree, lying flat and gesturing for Nagito to do the same. “Come on, get in the shade. I know how easily your skin burns.”
“Don’t you want to swim too, Hajime?” Nagito asked, flopping down. He let his head fall back onto Hajime’s stomach, making his grunt softly.
“No, it’s okay. I could tell you needed some peace and quiet.”
Nagito frowned. Hajime was doing that much more often, seeing through his smiles and cheerful comments to the truth inside. Nagito knew he should be happy, grateful even. Hajime wanted to know him better. Hajime wanted to understand him. So why did it make Nagito feel so raw and vulnerable, like Hajime was scrubbing away a layer of his skin?
“You shouldn’t have to miss time with your friends for someone like me,” Nagito said. “You were nice enough to bring me along. That’s more than enough.”
“What, do you think I’m going to chain you to a tree like a dog while we have fun? I’m not missing out on time with anybody. I’m spending time with you, Nagito. Because I want to. I like to. Right?” Hajime said, his voice exasperated. But then Nagito felt a hand in his hair, clumsy yet gentle, and he knew Hajime wasn’t really upset with him.
Nagito felt the weird feeling come back, itching insistently. He forced himself to give a lighthearted laugh. “You’re so inspiring, Hajime. You have hope for everyone, even miserable wretches like me.”
“Nagito.”
“Yes?”
“Shut up.”
Nagito did as he was told. Hajime started idly fiddling with Nagito’s hair, taking hold of one wild curl and pulling it straight, then letting it bounce back. Nagito wasn’t sure if he liked it or not, nervous giggles tickling the back of his throat. This wasn’t them. They weren’t tender and gentle and soft. They weren’t sweet words and walks on the beach and fingers running through hair. Their relationship was messy. They were angry outbursts and nightmares and holding onto each other too tightly, too long.
Nagito remained tense for a long time, but Hajime didn’t speak again. His hand continued moving through Nagito’s mop of hair until - finally - he felt the man sigh and release the tension in his shoulders. With the warm sun on his face and his head bobbing slowly up and down to the rhythm of Hajime’s breaths, Nagito felt his eyelids droop. And the nightmares didn’t come this time.
Hajime must’ve slept too, because they were both woken by a splash of icy water over their faces. Hajime yelped and sat upright so hastily Nagito tumbled off him onto the sand, spluttering in shock, wet hair plastered to his face.
Fuyuhiko and Kazuichi loomed over them with empty buckets, grinning impishly. Hajime lifted his sopping fringe with one hand to glare at them, and they both burst out laughing.
“You two were sleeping the day away! We didn’t want you getting dehydrated.”
“It was Kazuichi’s idea,” Fuyuhiko said.
“Oh, I don’t doubt it,” Hajime growled.
“It wasn’t! Fuyuhiko started it,” Kazuichi said, but he was giggling like an idiot and it was clear he was lying.
Hajime stumbled to his feet, hauled Nagito up and snatched Kazuichi’s bucket from his hands. “Right, come on, Nagito. Payback.”
Hajime started running to the shoreline, dragging Nagito along. Fuyuhiko made for the sea too, and Kazuichi, who was now without a bucket, ran to the right of the beach, clambering over the slick rocks by the cliffs to hide.
“I’ll go after him,” Nagito told Hajime. “I know there’s only two buckets but I could… throw seaweed at him, I suppose. He seemed afraid of it in the water.”
Hajime snorted. “Yes, do that! That’s hilarious. I’ll get Fuyuhiko.”
“No you fucking won’t!” Fuyuhiko yelled.
So Nagito ran down to the side of the beach too. The damp black rocks appeared every low tide as the sea retreated, leaving behind a selection of tiny pools filled with small fish and anemones and little crabs. The rocks were covered with seaweed and very slippery, and Nagito was barefoot. He should’ve known better - he was used to watching out for potential hazards - but Nagito knew Gundham and Sonia had been down there on several occasions to study the wildlife in the rock pools, and neither of them had been sensibly dressed. Sonia was even in heels, for God’s sake. Surely the rocks couldn’t be that treacherous.
He wasn’t thinking properly. It was just nice to finally be able to act silly and do stupid stuff with people who seemed to want him around, even if they were just being kind. Nagito had never been in a water fight in his life. He was kidding himself he was normal.
So he clambered over the slime-covered rocks with reckless abandon, barely pausing to breathe. He had his eyes on Kazuichi in the distance, and he didn’t notice the small rock pool until he was slipping into it, his right foot sliding over sharp rock and rough barnacles. The pain and the shock of the icy water screamed all the way up his leg and his knees gave way, sending him falling onto his behind in the pool with a splash. He sat still for several seconds, the sole of his foot screaming.
Kazuichi had originally started laughing when he saw Nagito fall, but his expression clouded when Nagito didn’t join in. Usually Nagito smiled after his clumsy moments and said something about his bad luck being a stepping stone for hope later or some similar bullshit. But this time Nagito didn’t smile. He didn’t attempt to get up. He just sat there, face blank.
“Hey,” Kazuichi called, slowly creeping over. He still wasn’t quite sure if this was a trick. He didn’t want to get a face full of seawater. “You alright?”
Nagito didn’t react. He didn’t even blink. Kazuichi moved closer, coming right up to the rock pool and bracing himself. Nagito didn’t try to splash him. He just sat, blank-faced, twirling one finger idly in the water and making pinkish swirls with the… sand? Silt? Kazuichi couldn’t tell what it was floating in the rock pool, but it didn’t look sanitary.
“You should probably get up. That looks pretty dirty,” Kazuichi advised. “And you’re getting your pants wet. What’re you doing anyway? You’re not gonna go weird on me, are you?”
“I… think I may require Mikan, when it’s most suitable for her. I wouldn’t want to bother an Ultimate with my petty issues,” Nagito said calmly.
“What? Why?” Kazuichi said, alarmed. “Did you hurt yourself when you fell?”
As if in answer, Nagito lifted his right leg out of the water. Kazuichi’s eyes went wide when he spotted the huge gash on the sole of Nagito’s foot, gushing blood at a terrifying pace. He looked again at the murky pinkish water and suddenly understood.
“Oh my fucking God! Fuck, shit, what do we do?” Kazuichi cried in a panic. “Don’t just sit there playing around in your blood, you weirdo! Shit, HAJIME!” Kazuichi yelled back down the beach, waving his arms at the two men in the distance like he’d been shipwrecked.
They approached warily, not taking the situation seriously. “This better not be a trick, Kazuichi!”
“I’m not playing the game anymore! Komaeda is bleeding to death over here!”
“What?” Hajime cried, picking up the pace.
“Bleeding to death is rather an exaggeration,” Nagito said. “You’d need to lose thirty to forty percent of the blood in your body to even fall unconscious.”
“I’m not going to ask how the hell you know that,” Kazuichi mumbled.
Hajime and Fuyuhiko climbed over the rocks, staring in horror at the big cut on Nagito’s foot and the rock pool growing cloudy with blood.
“What did you do?!” Fuyuhiko cried. Nagito opened his mouth, but Fuyuhiko was looking at Kazuichi.
“I didn’t do anything!” Kazuichi cried, looking wounded. “I think he slipped or something. I found him just sitting there.”
“It was nobody’s fault but my own,” Nagito said, his voice the calmest among them despite the fact that he was the one gushing blood. “I was tempting my bad luck. I should be thankful I’m not worse off.”
“What’s he on about?” Kazuichi asked Hajime.
“His luck cycle thing.”
“So something bad is gonna happen every time we’re nice to him?” Kazuichi said. “That sucks. Should we like… shove him over first before we invite him somewhere? Will that cancel it out?”
“Kazuichi, stop fucking talking,” Fuyuhiko snapped.
“I didn’t mean a hard shove or anything…”
“Shut up.”
“We need to get him to Mikan,” Hajime said firmly, hooking his hands under Nagito’s arms and carefully hauling him out of the rock pool. “Ugh, you’re all soggy.”
“Yes, that tends to happen when you fall into water, Hajime,” Nagito said, smiling. Not quite a nice and happy smile though.
“You should probably carry him,” Fuyuhiko said. “Otherwise he’ll get sand in the cut. And he can’t hop all the way back. You should keep his leg elevated above his head to reduce the blood flow.”
“How am I meant to do that?” Hajime snapped. “Dangle him upside down from his ankles?”
“I was only trying to help, asshole.”
“You’d all be terrible first responders. We’ve made no progress whatsoever,” Nagito said. Hajime and Fuyuhiko told him to shut up in unison.
Kazuichi was grimacing at the growing pool of blood under Nagito’s foot. “He has a point. He’s bleeding a lot, guys. We should probably do something.”
“He’s on a ton of medication. Lots of them have blood clotting as a side effect, so he has to take blood thinners. That’s why it’s… bad,” Hajime explained. He sighed, scooping Nagito up into his arms, cradling him like a bride.
It was still far too easy to hold him like this; Nagito’s eating habits were pretty disordered. On bad days he wouldn’t eat at all. Hajime had thought it was sheer obstinacy, but when he’d forced Nagito to have lunch it had come back up again so quickly Nagito hadn’t even reached the bathroom in time. They were in Hajime’s cabin too, which made it worse. That was one of the few times Nagito grew visibly angry with him. He was usually so careful to keep a smooth, happy mask, smiling and chuckling when he was nervous or upset or scared. Hajime never pressured him to eat when he said he couldn’t again.
“Is this okay?” Hajime asked, trying to shift his arms to lift Nagito’s injured foot as high as possible.
“Are you going to carry me over the threshold, Hajime?” Nagito said, smiling.
Hajime could feel his cheeks growing warm. Wow, that was not good. He didn’t want to react physically whenever Nagito teased him, or he’d just tease much more. “I’ll drop you in the ocean if you’re not careful.”
“Who says chivalry is dead,” Fuyuhiko muttered dryly. “Now hurry up, we need to get help. Take Nagito back to your cabin, Hajime. Me and Kazuichi will go hunt down Mikan.”
Kazuichi usually moaned if anyone tried to make him dash around in the hot island sun, but he just nodded. “Yeah, we’ll find her. Try not to bleed to death, okay Nagito?”
“I’ll do my best.”
They ran off together, and Hajime carried Nagito across the sand towards the cabins. Nagito had his arms wound around Hajime’s neck, his face peering over his shoulder. “We’re leaving a trail of blood. Like that old fairy story.”
“What?”
“Some children leave a trail so they don’t get lost in the woods. I remember that part, but I can’t think of the title. It was so long ago…”
“Oh, you mean Hansel and Gretel. And they left a trail of breadcrumbs, you weirdo, not blood.”
“And there was a woman in that story who was a cannibal…”
“She was a witch. She was keeping the kids to cook and eat them.” Hajime was starting to think properly about some of the fairy tails they’d all grown up with. They were actually pretty dark when you thought about it. Trust Nagito to bring that to his attention.
“Never mind that. How’re you feeling? You’re bleeding an awful lot. And it must hurt.”
“You don’t need to worry about a nobody li-”
“Nagito, if you don’t give me a real answer I really am going to drop you.”
“No you’re not.” Nagito spoke with such calm confidence that Hajime had to clench his teeth to hold back a snarky retort. Okay, maybe Nagito was correct. Hajime wouldn’t just dump his injured boyfriend on his ass in the sand. But that didn’t make his tone any less annoying.
“Ah, you’re pulling a scary face, Hajime! Are you growing tired of me yet?” Nagito asked, starting to laugh.
Hajime sighed. He’d been hearing that line a lot from Nagito, as long as they’d been dating and well back into their friendship too. Are you tired of me yet? Whenever it was Nagito’s turn to wake gasping from a nightmare, whenever he grew so ill and weak he could barely move and Hajime had to walk him to the bathroom, whenever the phantom pains from a hand no longer there kept them both up at night, he’d start. Ah, I’m such a burden. Why are you here, Hajime? Why do you care about a nobody like me? Aren’t you tired of this? Aren’t you tired of me?
He always kept his voice light and easy, but Hajime sensed there was must be some sort of truth behind the questions. Nobody repeated something over and over like a parrot unless the same thoughts were swirling non-stop in their own heads. Hajime knew Nagito had been alone most of his childhood, forced to take care of his own problems. Now he seemed to baulk at the idea of help or support of any kind, like Hajime was going to play a cruel joke on him and shove him away at the last second.
“I’m growing tired of you saying that,” Hajime said. “Come on, let’s just get inside. And no more woe-is-me speeches, right? I keep telling you, I want to help.”
“You’re so kind, Hajime.”
“I’m not kind. I’m not doing it because I’m kind,” Hajime said irritably. “I’m doing it because I want to. Because I care about you. Okay?”
Nagito didn’t respond, just smiling calmly. Hajime wished he could peer right behind those eyes and see what really went on in Nagito’s head. He sighed and sat on his bed to wait for Mikan. As he was still holding Nagito, he ended up perched on Hajime’s lap, but he didn’t attempt to move. Hajime felt the tight frustration in his chest ease and he carefully wound his arms around Nagito’s skinny waist. Too skinny. Fuck, they needed to find something Nagito could eat even when he felt ill.
“I’m dripping blood on your carpet,” Nagito whispered, his head still resting on Hajime’s shoulder.
“Doesn’t matter right now.” He peered over the side of the bed. “You’re still bleeding a lot. Are you feeling okay? You’ve gone pretty pale.”
“Just a little light-headed, Hajime. Don’t worry about me.”
“Of course I’m worrying about you. Stop testing me, Nagito. I care. I’m not leaving, I’m not annoyed, I’m not sick of you. Please stop it,” Hajime begged.
Nagito went silent again. There was a strange expression on his face, brows furrowed, almost irritated - but before Hajime could question him there was a knock at his cabin door and Fuyuhiko and Kazuichi burst in. They were dragging Mikan between them, one on either side of her like bodyguards.
“We found her!” Kazuichi cried. “Is Komaeda okay? Because we don’t have spare blood if he needs a transfusion or something.”
“Who the fuck has spare blood?” Fuyuhiko snapped. “He’ll be fine. I’ve seen guys bleed way more than that and still live.”
“Well, the peace and quiet in here was nice while it lasted,” Hajime muttered. He smiled at Mikan apologetically. “Sorry for dragging you over here at such short notice, but I think he needs stitches.”
“I don’t want to cause trouble. I would never tear an Ultimate away from their work with my petty desires and-” Nagito’s string of self-deprecation was swiftly cut off as Hajime’s clapped a hand over his mouth.
“Don’t listen to him. Please, can you help him?”
“Of course,” Mikan said. Her smile was nervous, but Hajime didn’t think it was anything they’d done - Mikan always seemed nervous. She’d had the forethought to bring a case of supplies when Fuyuhiko and Kazuichi dragged her across the island, so she knelt on the blood-spattered carpet and took hold of Nagito’s ankle.
“Y-yes, it’s quite a deep gash, but it’s not very serious. You’ll need stitches and you won’t be able to get them wet or put weight on your right foot for at least a week,” she explained, snapping on rubber gloves.
“Looks like Hajime will be doing a lot more carrying then,” Fuyuhiko said.
“Does Peko carry you when you get hurt?” Kazuichi teased, then yelped as Fuyuhiko thumped him hard.
“I’m going to clean the wound. I want you to take a deep breath, Nagito. This will be painful,” Mikan said. Her usually shaky voice seemed much firmer and more assured when she was talking about her medicine. Her clumsy hands grew confident and graceful as she worked, carefully cleaning, stitching and bandaging the wound while gently reminding Nagito when to breathe and warning him when something was going to be painful. She put so much effort into making him as comfortable as possible - an Ultimate trying to help a nobody like him! Nagito wanted to show Mikan how thankful he was, how wonderfully selfless it was to treat him like a worthy patient, like an equal - but his throat ached so badly he could only choke out a “thank you” in an almost inaudible voice.
And it wasn’t just Mikan; Kazuichi and Fuyuhiko stayed too. They peered over Mikan’s shoulder while she worked, having to be reminded several times to back off. Kazuichi pulled faces whenever the wound was revealed and Fuyuhiko teased Nagito for managing to slice his foot so badly in a fall most people could’ve laughed off uninjured, but it was clear they cared too. They did their best to offer help.
“I’ll bring dinner for both of you tonight,” Fuyuhiko said. “Probably best if Nagito rests in the quiet. He might be feeling shitty from the shock.”
“I’ll make you some crutches, Nagito,” Kazuichi promised. “Crutches that work on the sand too so you can still go to the beach with us.”
They were being so nice… and all Nagito wanted to do was shove them out the door. The tightness in his chest was growing worse and worse, like somebody was slowly tightening a belt over his ribs. He was dangerously close to shattering, and that was something he couldn’t do now. He needed them out. They cared too much. He hardly dared blink or speak in case it all came bursting out.
Nagito moved closer to Hajime as Mikan fixed the bandages on his foot, his lips so close they brushed Hajime’s ear. “Make them leave. Please.”
He couldn’t say any more. He wanted to explain, wanted to make Hajime realise how urgent this was, how close he was to being vulnerable around three people he was not ready to open up to in this way. Hell, it was still hard even to show Hajime, the man he literally shared a bed with.
Nagito’s eyes were burning. He felt a surge of panic. Oh God, Hajime, please get them out of here…
Perhaps Hajime heard the strain in Nagito’s whisper, perhaps he felt how tense his body had grown against him, but - miraculously - he seemed to understand. He carefully eased Nagito onto the bed, thanked their friends for their help and reassured everyone Nagito would be okay now, he just needed some rest and some peace. Nagito stopped listened. He was barely blinking. He managed to smile and nod until Hajime had ushered Mikan, Kazuichi and Fuyuhiko to the door, then Nagito rolled over and hastily buried his face in a pillow.
Hajime finally convinced his friends they’d both be fine and closed the door with a sigh of relief. He turned back to the bed, not too surprised to see Nagito lying on his stomach with his face hidden.
Nagito was all mixed up when it came to emotions; bad situations had him laughing and smiling, positive reinforcement had driven him to tears several times now. With Hajime. Nagito refused to cry in public. Sometimes it could be really inconvenient too. Since they’d all woken up and decided to try to undo all the terrible things in their past, everyone was trying to be nicer. And trying to be nicer to Nagito if he was feeling particularly weak or tired or ill that day was fatal. He’d start tugging on Hajime’s hand, gently at first, but the tugging would grow more frantic as he struggled to retain control. Sometimes Hajime had to interrupt people mid-conversation with some silly excuse to save Nagito’s pride. Once he’d run out of ideas and made out to Akane that he had a sudden and urgent need to use the toilet. That had actually made Nagito laugh when he’d calmed down.
It wasn’t ideal, but Hajime couldn’t help being thankful that Nagito trusted him more than anyone else. Trusted Hajime to whisk him away when he needed help, and trusted Hajime to hold him while he wept silently, face hidden in his jacket or covered with his hands - even Hajime didn’t get to see his face when Nagito was in that state.
So Hajime didn’t comment when he saw Nagito soundlessly weeping into his pillow (hopefully Nagito’s pillow anyway. Hajime didn’t want tears and snot on his own pillow). He didn’t ask what was wrong. He simply walked to the foot of the bed and took hold of Nagito’s ankle, examining Mikan’s handiwork. The white bandages were almost the same colour as Nagito’s skin, and his exposed toes were icy cold.
“You should put some socks on,” Hajime noted.
Nagito, predictably, didn’t move, so Hajime grabbed a pair from the dresser. “Are you going to cooperate?”
Nothing. Hajime sighed, sitting on the edge of the bed and grabbing hold of Nagito’s leg. “Honestly, I bet even Sonia never had anybody to put her socks on for her and she’s royalty. Come on, bend your leg. Help me out a bit.” Despite his grumbling, Hajime eased the socks on with scrupulous care, being especially delicate with the injured foot. “There, your majesty. Surely that must feel better.”
Nagito still didn’t make a sound. Hajime moved to stretch out beside him on the bed, a hand resting between his shoulders. “Hey,” Hajime mumbled. “It’s alright. I know it’s hard, but they care about you. It’s not a bad thing.”
“They shouldn’t care. I did terrible things,” Nagito said, his voice so muffled by the pillow it was hard to understand him.
“So did I. So did everybody here. We’re all trying to make up for that.”
“I don’t deserve love.”
“That’s what you tell yourself. It’s not the truth.” Hajime very gently eased Nagito off the pillow into his arms. Nagito immediately hid his face in Hajime’s chest, but he didn’t pull away. He clamped a hand hard over his mouth to keep the sobs inside.
“Don’t,” Hajime said firmly, taking hold of Nagito’s hand and trying to pry the fingers away from his lips. “Stop holding it all in. I think that’s partly why you keep getting overwhelmed so often. You never let go.”
Nagito didn’t give up, wrenching his hand free and slapping it right back across his lips - but not before a single gasping sob had escaped. It was the first time Hajime had ever heard him make a noise while he cried. Nagito screwed up his face immediately, wincing.
“No, that’s good! Fucking fantastic! Jesus Christ, I can’t believe I’m cheering you on for crying, but here we are,” Hajime muttered. He took hold of Nagito’s hand once again and tried to prise it away. “Come on, we’re on the right track. It’s just us here. Our door is locked, nobody expects us at dinner. You’re safe, okay? You’re not a burden. I don’t think any less of you. Please…”
Hajime yanked Nagito’s hand away, keeping hold of the wrist this time. Immediately a loud sob burst out, another chasing on its heels so quickly Nagito barely had time to draw breath. And the floodgates opened. He gasped and wheezed and sobbed, soaking Hajime’s chest with tears and spit and snot, clinging so tightly to Hajime’s arms that his nails left little crescent moon shapes in the skin. And Hajime never complained. He held Nagito tight, whispering encouragement into his hair, warm hands rubbing between Nagito’s shoulder blades - holding him together, anchoring him against the darkness that swirled inside Nagito’s head.
Nagito wasn’t sure how long he spent sobbing desperately into his boyfriend’s chest; it felt like hours. He cried until his head throbbed and his throat ached. He cried for his friends, struggling themselves to shake their pasts as Remnants of Despair. He cried for all the people they hurt and tortured under Junko’s brainwashing. He cried for the parents he could only remember from photographs. He cried for the childhood dog who’d died in his arms. He cried for himself, for his lifetime of loneliness, his bad luck driving people away out of fear. And he cried for Chiaki.
All the while, Hajime held him. Hajime let Nagito drip all over him for an eternity, and when the sobs finally, finally started to fade away, Hajime brought him a bottle of water and held a cold cloth to his puffy eyes, wrapping an arm around him and pulling Nagito against his shoulder. “I learned this from Mahiru. She does this for Hiyoko when she’s been crying. It’s meant to stop your eyes getting all red and sore.”
Nagito nodded, far too emotionally exhausted to speak. He sat helplessly while Hajime fussed over him with tender but clumsy hands, dabbing his face with tissues and smoothing his messy hair off his forehead. Nagito stared blankly ahead - and then felt two warm hands grip his cheeks. He was forced to stare into Hajime’s heterochromic eyes.
“Hey…” Hajime’s soft tone was a complete contrast to his firm stare. “I’m so proud of you, Nagito.”
It almost brought the tears back. Proud of him? For what? For having a tantrum like a baby?
Hajime recognised his expression. “I’m proud of you for feeling. I’m not good at this mushy stuff and I know you’re not either… but it’s just so good to finally see you letting yourself hurt openly like that. I’m really fucking proud of you.”
Nagito’s chest hurt again. He pulled Hajime’s hands away from his cheeks and held them, squeezing as hard as he could manage. It took several tries before he managed to speak, tasting salty tears on his dry lips. “Next time you feel bad,” he whispered, his voice low and hoarse, “I’ll put your socks on for you too.”
Hajime laughed - and Nagito finally found himself smiling again, though his face was still blotchy and tearstained. They’d be okay. They had each other to put their socks on when they were having bad days.
Hello hope you are doing well! 💕 Could I request the DR2 students reaction to the reader (who is like Sally from Sally Face with a prosthetic mask and personality) taking off the mask? of course you don't have to if you don't wanna💖
Ah, yes, it’s been a long time since I played Sally Face. Let’s gooo!!
Tumblr media
Also Shouyo is adorable. 😩😭
Also character limit is 10. But I think I’ll be writing for them all this time. This might be short tho-
Hajime Hinata
Ok but he’s curious?? Because you give off mysterious vibes and he wants to see what’s behind your mask
You barely take off your mask. He attemped to see it when eating, but you hide your face really well
Well, he doesn’t want to pressure you. But if you feel like you can trust him, there’s a chance you might take off your mask.
And when you do, well, let’s say he’ll be silent for a while. He’ll just stare in shock, he doesn’t pity you, he just feels sorry that you have to cover your face with a mask.
He cares more about your personality, so he won’t talk about it at all. He loves you for who you are, not for your face.
Nagito Komaeda
Oh boy. He literally thinks it’s because of his luck. It’s not that he doesn’t care, he’ll keep his distance if you are desperate to hide your face
Though he secretly wants to see...
But again, he’s ok if you don’t want to show your face. He doesn’t want to pressure you
He doesn’t mind your looks, but if you were to take off your mask in front him, by any chance, he’d think very highly of himself
“So this is why... I see,” He wouldn’t say anything that’d make you uncomfortable.
He’d appreciate you for trusting him!!
Byakuya Twogami
He totally understands
He understands the pressure you feel and how desperately you don’t want to be seen by anyone
Well, in the time you two grow closer, he’ll open up to you and tell you about his past,, so you might trust him enough to take off your mask in front of him.
“Y/n, are you sure-” Before he could finish his sentence, you take off your mask and he just stares in awe. He’s surprised
He feels sorry for you that you’ve had to gone something so painful. But he feels reliable because you trust him with that.
Teruteru Hanamura
Oh. He’s really curious of what your face looks like!
Like, he wants to take your mask off so bad, but he can’t bring himself do it because of how you’d react. It can’t be good, right?
He’ll have to learn controlling himself,, because he doesn’t want to be judged by you
So if you take off your mask in front of him, he’ll never forget that day. It’s like the most important moment of his life
“I... Y/n, does it hurt?” He doesn’t really care how you look at all. How you feel is his current concern
Gundham Tanaka
Oh, boy, even though he tries to be seen cool outside, he wants to see what’s behind that face
He thinks you’ve made a pact with a devil and you were cursed in return or something like that- but no worries, mortal, Gundham is here, he’ll get your back.
If you were to take off your mask in front of him, he’d be shocked and close his eyes because he thinks you took it off by not noticing he’s here- he respects your privacy
“It’s ok, you can open your eyes...” You’ll have to assure him more than one times and he’ll finally open his eyes
The sight he is met is surprising, he’s rather amazed that you are so strong
Kazuichi Souda
Someone. Stop. Him
He reaaaally is desperate to see what’s behind that mask
Many attempts of trying to see. He even tried to build something that could see through your mask- but he failed and you and Sonia scolded him for hours
But yeah, he gets it, he’ll stop.
But if you were to show your face to him, I don’t think he’d be creeped out- he’d be just surprised... And shocked? Yeah. He still thinks you’re so pretty. And it’s not only about your looks
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu
He literally thinks you look so cool with that mask of yours. And that attitude of yours. He simps.
He won’t ask you to show your face to him, if you felt like you’d open yourself to him, you would. So he isn’t forcing
But he wouldn’t mind seeing your face at all. I mean, he has imagined how would you look like- And he really wants to see but he is just embarrassed to ask...
As soon as you take off your mask, his eyes grows big and he’s like: hand in marriage
Yep. He thinks you are beautiful, and that’s on periodt.
Nekomaru Nidai
When he first met you, he’d be like “Who are you and what’s up with that mask?” And when you told him about it, he wouldn’t ask twice
Yeaap. Not even caring for your looks. He’d even tell you nice things if you are insecure
Not even asking you to take it off. For once. It’s not that he doesn’t care, if you wanted to take it off, you would, right?
And when you take it off, he’d thank you for trusting him with something so important. He’d also encourage you and support you!!
Also he wants to ask what happened to you in the past but he can’t, so you’ll have to tell him abt it...
Chiaki Nanami
Even though she doesn’t ask you about your looks, she is curious...
You trust her wholeheartedly, and you feel yourself comfortable around her, so you wouldn’t hesitate to take your mask off.
And when you did, she’d just smile softly and would thank you 🥺🥺😭
It feels good to be reliable, doesn’t it, Chiaki?
Also if you feel yourself insecure, she’ll tell you the nicest things, but if you want to change the subject, she won’t bring it up unless you want to talk about it,,
Sonia Nevermind
Ok but she is really?! Curious of your face?!!
She respects your privacy, but she wants to see it!!! Though she knows her limits smh. She a queen
When you take off your mask, you got her screaming. She isn’t scared, she is feeling mixed emotions, like, happy? Because you trust her enough? And more happy? Because she can finally stop imagining your face?
She thinks you’re really cool and strong!!
Also she’ll definitely want to see it some other time but only if you want to.
Akane Owari
This girl isn’t the desperate time but she’ll ask you to show your face. If you say no, it’s a no, she won’t bring it up again unless it’s mentioned or something.
Also if people annoy you, she’ll literally bark at them to make them stop. You’re really grateful.
When you take off your mask for the first time, she wouldn’t be able to speak. You put your mask on and sigh, thinking she finds you ugly.
Bitch, what? 😃 Say that again!!!
“No, no, I was just surprised you did that out of blue! Show me again, Y/n!”
Mikan Tsumuki
Ahhh, she can relate how you are feeling!! Having to hide your face would be such a pain
She understands you so well, she doesn’t want to make you comfortable about it so she doesn’t even talk about it. She just acts like,, your mask doesn’t even exist. Ahh, Mikan, you’re so perfect, just marry me
If you were to show your face to her she’d be so happy!!! Like you trust her enough?! She feels so touched and appreciates your feelings
As soon as she sees your face, she’ll ask if it’s ok to touch, soft touches with your consent, ahhh
She feels sorry that you have to go through something like that, so she’ll do anything to let you know you are loved!!
Peko Pekoyama
She believes it’s her fault for not protecting you. Even though you told her it happened long before you two had met-
It’s not that she wants to be your S/O because she feels herself guilty, she just wants to protect you at all cost
Even though she won’t ask, that doesn’t mean she isn’t curious of your face. Like, she really wants to see
And if you, by any chance, take off your mask in front of her, she won’t even make a sound. She just won’t be able to take her eyes off your face- though she’ll stop if you feel bad
She doesn’t mind your appearance, she thinks you are precious, and she’ll keep loving you
Mahiru Koizumi
As soon as you told her about the accident, she felt so sorry for you
She didn’t want to involve your personal space, so she kept her space. Though she couldn’t help but wonder about your face
She can’t ask you to take your mask off out of blue.. She can’t be that reckless. That’d totally offend you!
She won’t make a move unless it’s your choice to show her. I think she’d be kind of shocked but totally understanding with u!! She thinks you are unfortunate, yet so beautiful
Now she really wants to ask you for a photo after seeing your face.
Hiyoko Saionji
Ok but she wants to see your face but she doesn’t want to be seen desperate
But you can read her by her actions so well, though she refuses it
She thinks you’re the most perfect human on this world, and she means that, so your appearance doesn’t make a big difference, she already loves you, and you know how kind she is towards the ones she loves- (cough, cough, mahiru)
If you take off your mask out of blue, she’d cover her eyes and let out a loud scream. Which you wouldn’t know how to react. “Hiyoko?! What’s wrong, are you scared?”
She just thought your mask dropped and didn’t want to see you by mistake, is all. She’d be kinda shy because of the misunderstanding, and would try to say kind things, shE TRIES
Ibuki Mioda
Omgggg Ibuki stans rise up! This girl loves everrrrything about you! She first thought you wore that mask because you thought it looked cool, and she adored your style!!
She adored you even more after finding out because you think you need to hide your face. And she wanted to see it. By this, I mean she literally begged you to take it off for her! For only one time! “Pleaaseeee, Y/n, I promise I won’t tell anyone!!!”
Even though she sounds reliable, you hesitate but she gives you puppy eyes- THE PUPPY EYES. So you let it slide, Ig.
When you showed her your face, she literally screamed like a fangirl, “Y/n, what the- You’re so cool under the mask!!!”
“You must take it off some more! Your face is beautiful!” Please tell this girl you aren’t wearing the mask because you think you are ugly,, yeah, anyways. She loves when you take off your mask.
Aaaa!! This took me soooo long, I am sorry 😭 Anyways, this is so short I know but it has lots of characters, hope this makes it up hsjghd I hate myself for writing sooo bad 💔 I was really tired today and I tried to write but ended up literally writing bullshit and I was like 💆‍♀️ I promise I’ll get better but progress is taking foreverrrr 😭😭
Could you perhaps do some Hajime x tiny s/o hcs?? He is my comfort character 🥰
Human!Hajime x Borrower!S/O Headcanons!
He’s so grateful to have you as his own, he values every moment you two spend together
Your always with him as he tends to have separation anxiety, your the one thing in his life that’s not boring
Whenever your cold he’ll Let you sleep in his shirt pocket, you sweetly nestling in his body warmth
He will spoil you with little gifts of appreciation, such as a new sewing needle sword or a whole slice of huge bread as a food source
When he first found you, you were close to death, being attacked by a flock of birds; simply mistaken for an insect he immediately scooped you up and quickly brought you inside
He slowly healed and fed you until you can survive on your own, but with all of that time spent with Hajime you feel to safe with him
When he stores S/O he won’t be as gentle as he may seem. It’s because he’s afraid that he will tear you apart, so to get it over with he will waste no time to swallow you. When he DOES take the time to enjoy it, you taste like sweet oranges
You comfort him through his struggles of being an experiment and his identity crisis around Izuru Kamakura, saying he will always be Hajime Hinata and no one else can say so
You once slipped into his backpack to see the place called “school” which Hajime goes to everyday. You got to meet the rest of dr2 crew. Hajime was completely comfortable showing you to Chiaki and Sonia unlike Nagito and Akane who he will NEVER let you meet or see
Overall he’s just a big nervous sweetie who loves to spend time with you!
Hajime is such a good character! I hope you enjoy these headcanons!
A Lapse In Judgement - Part 5
CHAPTER ONE: A Dangrous Present CHAPTER TWO: A Past Forgotten CHAPTER THREE: A Foreshadowing CHAPTER FOUR: One Possible Conclusion CHAPTER FIVE: Untethered
Komaeda Nagito x Ultimate Empath!Reader
Summary: Just a normal day at Hope's Peak Contains: she/her pronouns, gitches, blood and gore, rejection Read on AO3
Tumblr media
“So. Are you doing it today?” Koizumi asks, giving you a knowing smirk from her desk. It is a good ten minutes into lunchtime and the afternoon sun is cascading in through the open window. It’s a beautiful day, and you would usually be outside if you didnt have more important matters to attend to.
You are halfway through sealing a very fancy envelope with a collection of decorative stickers, but you still manage to shoot Koizumi a glare. Pointedly staring at her left cheekbone instead of into her eyes.
She laughs, “hey, no need to get all feisty with me. I’ve just seen you toiling away at that letter for over a week now, I’m glad you’ve finally finished it.”
You hum, peeling a sunflower shaped sticker from a sticker sheet and affixing it over the back flap of the envelope, “I had a lot of things to say, and I’m not a very good writer.”
“You sure as hell aren’t!” Another voice scoffs from behind you, and you turn to see Saionji sitting on her desk, swinging her feet back and forth. She clears her throat, “An except: my cheeks burn, my stomach twists! ” Her interpretation of your work is offensively overacted, she clutches her chest and bats her eyes, “ When your eyes lock with mine my heart flutters, when your lips form the syllables of my name I-“
Koizumi throws a pencil at her, you are eternally grateful.
“You memorised it?” You hiss, clutching the envelope protectively
“Yeah, duh.” Saionji rolls her eyes, “I read it over your shoulder like three days ago, it was so funny I had to write it down.” She smirks, “I already showed it to a buncha people.”
“Ugh, what the hell , Saionji?” You exclaim, pressing more stickers to the front of the envelope as angrily as someone can manage, “it’s very personal!”
Koizumi sighs, “yeah Hiyoko. That was pretty insensitive of you.”
You hear the beginnings of some classic Saionji fake tears, but force yourself to ignore it. Popping the cap off of a sharpie and inking a name on the front of your envelope. You try to write as neatly as possible, but it’s hard when your hands are shaking.
“So. Who’s it for?” Saionji asks, over her crying fit already. She leans in to take a peak and you hide the name with your forearm, glaring at her again, “What are you so embarrassed about? Is it someone gross?!”
You don’t answer, your glare grows deeper, but Saionji ignores it.
“Oh yuck! Is it Souda? Is it Hanamura?????”
Koizumi clicks her tongue, but a playful smile tugs at her lips, “yeah if it’s Hanamura we might have to disown you.”
“It’s not Hanamura.” You mutter, resting your chin on the palm of your hand, “just stop trying to guess. It’s only making me more nervous.”
Sitting up from her desk, Koizumi comes over and rubs your arm encouragingly, “hey, I’m sure whoever it is will say yes. You’re great, and your talent is really cool.”
You avert your eyes, “my talent isn’t cool, everyone thinks I’m weird.”
“Yeah, iunno, Koizumi-chan.” Saionji says, “I get shivers up my spine whenever she looks at me with her creepy eyes.”
You gesture weakly in Saionji’s direction, “see? People don’t like having their emotions read, it’s invasive and gross.”
“Hey.” Koizumi starts, giving you a soft smile, “look at me.”
Your gaze is intently focussed on her right eyebrow when you say, “I am looking at you.”
She laughs, “ No , look at me.” She points to her eyes, “right here.”
You swallow. Since starting high school you made a valiant effort to avoid using your talent, people always thought you were weird and creepy, it was hard to make friends, “Come on.” She says, placing her hand over yours, “You can trust me.” you take a shaky breath, and meet her eyes.
Protectiveness, warmth, friendship
You feel yourself soften a little, and Koizumi smiles, “okay. You get it now? We’re your friends. Hiyoko and I are going down to the cafeteria, you stay up here and do whatever you need to.” She stands upright and heads to the door, Saionji falling into step beside her, “let us know how it goes.”
Saionji sticks her tongue out, but does follow it up with a quick, “good luck!” before following Koizumi out of the classroom.
Now that you are alone, your heart starts to race. The envelope feels heavy and almost frightening in your hands. This crush of yours has lasted almost a year now, and this is going to be your first attempt to actually do something about it, you’ve never done anything like this before in your life.
You take a deep breath, and pull yourself up from your desk. Knees wobbling as you head over to the desk of Nagito Komaeda, and slip the envelope inside. Saionji would have teased you relentlessly if she knew it was him the love letter was for, but people think you are weird, and people think he is weird. Being the two weird kids in class meant that you spent a lot of time together, group projects that no one wanted to chance his luck with, or that no one wanted to spend multiple classes avoiding your line of sight during. He liked your talent, he trusted you to be respectful and careful of his feelings. Also his hair looked soft.
The letter asked him to meet the sender around the back of the gym after last period. It did not mention you by name. Until then, you were just going to spend the rest of your day completely normally. So you gave Komaeda’s desk one final look and headed back out of the classroom to go meet Koizumi in the cafeteria.
“Oh! Hey!”
You look down the hallway and see Hajime Hinata jogging up to you. You don’t know him particularly well, he sits at the front of the class at the desk by the window. The front row has five desks, the others only have four, Hinata’s desk is out of line with the rest of them. Like it was an afterthought.
“Hello.” You reply, keeping your gaze focussed on his nose instead of his eyes, “How are you?”
He gives you an awkward smile and rubs the back of his neck with a hand. You notice that his uniform looks weird on him, but you can’t place why. It fits, but it looks like it is moving and shifting on his body in ways that are unnatural, you don’t point it out, “I left my lunch in my desk. I’m coming back to get it.”
“Ah.” You say, “do you want me to wait for you?”
Before he has time to answer, you see a familiar figure coming down the hall and you instinctively grab Hinata by the wrist and tug him down to hide behind a row of lockers. You are too distracted, and don’t notice that Hinata’s uniform is black now instead of brown.
“What are you doing?!” Hinata hisses. You cup a hand over his mouth and hold completely still as Komaeda walks past the two of you and into the classroom. You notice that his vest is stained with what looks like gravy, luck related incident, you assume.
Once Komaeda isn’t visible anymore, you let go of Hinata and scramble over to the doorway. Peering around the corner as subtly as you can. He’s taken off his blazer and hung it over the back of his chair, and is in the middle of working his vest up over his head.
Hinata comes up behind you, peering around the corner as well, “What is Komaeda doing?”
“I think he has a spare vest in his desk.” You whisper, “you need to be quiet.”
Your heart is racing in your chest, and your fingers tighten around the doorframe. Komaeda lifts the top of his desk, and his brow furrows when he sees the letter. Gently picking it up and turning it around in his hand. At one point he looks around the room and you have to duck behind the door to make sure he doesn’t notice you. You can barely breathe.
“Wait. What did he just grab?” Hinata asks you, as the two of you lean back out. You don’t reply.
“Oh my god…” Hinata hisses playfully, “someone left a love letter in Komaeda’s desk?”
You’re still focussed on Komaeda’s long fingers as they slowly tear open the envelope, you see your sunflower sticker fluttering down to the ground. Biting your lip, hands shaking, trying to gauge any response.
“Oh my god!” Hinata hisses much less playfully, “ you left a love letter in Komaeda’s desk?!”
“Shh!!” You say, motioning for Hinata to zip it, “I’m watching.”
Komaeda’s eyes are wide as he starts reading, you can see his hands are trembling. Something you’ve written halfway down the page shocks him, he has to go back and read it again to confirm he understood it properly.
“Hmm...that was probably the bit I wrote about how nice his hands are.” You whine nervously, “oh god , I’ve made myself seem like a creep haven’t I?” You whisper, turning back to look at Hinata.
“Komaeda is not the sort to get creeped out.” Hinata mumbles, “I didn’t even know you liked him.”
Your other hand wraps around the doorframe as you lean out a little more, trying to get a better view of Komaeda’s face, “that’s the point of a secret.”
“I don’t understand why you didn’t just tell him. You know your talent would answer the question for you if you used it right?”
You huff, “I don’t want to use it. I want to be normal .”
“Ļ̴͕̳̮̏̊̌͝͠ͅi̷͕͋̇̿̈́͐̉̈̒̆͂̆͘̚͜͝k̵̨̹͍̩͂̎͑̔̏͂́̽͛͋̓͝e̶̦̣͎͕̦͈͉͖͆́̈́̈́̋̓̊̕ ̵̛̛̛̟̩̺͉͛̄̉̈́͗̃m̷̢̢͖͇̣̞̱̮̱͕̥͂̌ĕ̷̺̝?̶̡̞̬̲͕̜̩̪̫̥̙̦̮͇̉̈̈́͘̚͝”
You freeze, so does Komaeda. The whole school comes to a standstill, “what do you mean, like you?”
When you turn to look at Hinata again, he is gone. You blink your eyes, maybe he just ran off? Either way, your attention was brought back into the classroom by a gentle gasp.
Komaeda has a hand clapped over his mouth, chest heaving as he finishes reading the letter.
Your heart is racing, your knees are starting to hurt from crouching around the corner. You wonder if he knows that it was you
It was you
It wa̷̢̨̖̪̥̹̤̼̭͚͈͑͆͑͆͐̈̆̂̒̍̿́͝͝s you
It was you
It waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaā̵̡̪̦̰͚̭̩̼͎̪͈͋͛͗̃̕͜͝͝ͅạ̵̭͎̥̱͎̹̭̺̰͎̈́͐̒̕a̴̹̜̟̺̞̓͆͒͗͝ä̵̟̼̟̥͎͔̯̯̜́̌̈́̿a̵̹͖͍̙͇̘͍͕͙̅̅͊̌̈́̒̃ạ̴̢̗͉̘̰͉̺̹͍͛͐̆̊͐͘͘͝ͅä̶̡̮͔̹̩̪́̊͒̉̉̕̕͠ă̶̻̓̍̌̚ḁ̵̢̢̢̧̞̱̥̠͕͚̉̋a̴̠͇̻͉̘̐̿͆̄̀̈̀̅̋̅a̷̢̰̙̦̮̘̲̓͝ͅͅa̷̝͖̜̋̈͛̈́̐͌̾̓̃͘s̷̰̻̼̲͓̮̺͌̑̓̃͒̋̏͆̐͌̌̐ ̵̧̙̹̬̞̦̝̓͗͊͌͠ỹ̷̯̯̃́̃̎͋̈́̏̎o̸̩͉͍̗̯̠̙̬̱̩͔̾̅̊̂̾̿̍̌̓̌͘͝u̶̻̳̪̪̻͕̜͜
“Are you alright?” Sensei Yukizome asks.
You blink. Your eyes feel heavy, your brain feels like static. You’re back in class, sitting at your desk. The rest of 77-B has gone quiet, they’re all watching you intently, “I’m...fine.”
Yukizome cocks her head to the side, brows pulled tight with confusion, “Your head hit the desk pretty hard. Are you sure Tsumiki-san doesnt need to have a look at you?”
Not matter how many times you blink, the world never seems to fully come back into focus. You feel sick to your stomach, “What are we doing again?”
“You’re meant to be writing outlines for your practical exams. Descriptions of your strengths and weaknesses, that sort of thing.” She is starting to look very concerned.
You swallow and look down at your page. It’s completely blank, you haven't written anything this whole time, “I havent started…”
When you look over towards the window, your eyes lock on Hinata. He is wearing a white shirt with a green tie. His uniform is completely gone
(Why ạ̴̢̗͉̘̰͉̺̹͍͛͐̆̊͐͘͘͝ͅre there five desks in the front ro̸̩͉͍̗̯̠̙̬̱̩͔̾̅̊̂̾̿̍̌̓̌͘͝w? Why does our clạ̴̢̗͉̘̰͉̺̹͍͛͐̆̊͐͘͘͝ͅss have an odd number of students when no other do̸̩͉͍̗̯̠̙̬̱̩͔̾̅̊̂̾̿̍̌̓̌͘͝es?)
Your head is pounding, and you can feel a distant tether to someone you cannot see or hear. Aching like a phantom limb. You stand up.
“Something is definitely wrong” Yukizome says, backpeddling from your desk when you suddenly shoot up, “Do you want someone to take you to the sick bay?”
You shake your head, “I’m just going to stand by the window for a second. I’m just feeling a little dizzy.”
She nods slowly, “Alright, but if you don't start feeling better, let me know and i'll call your parents, okay?”
“Sure…”
As you walk over to the window, something makes you glance at Hinata’s paper. Something unspooling the memories in the back of your mind whispers, s̵o̵m̴e̶t̵h̵i̴n̸g̸ ̸i̷s̶ ̵n̴o̸t̸ ̵r̷i̵g̴h̸t̵.̵
Hinata’s paper, which should be a detailed explanation of his talent. Is incomprehensible. A series of jumbled letters and numbers blurring and shifting on the page, like trying to read a book in a dream. Dread seeps inside you, and it becomes a full tidal wave when you look up at the window, and see Hinata is now standing outside. You whirl around and see only the empty space where an extra fifth desk once was, the Hinata inside the classroom is gone.
Ḧ̷̢͓̰̤́̍ḭ̵͎̋̈́̒n̸̩͎͋͐̃̊̑a̸̧͉̻̩͙͗̔̓̚ț̵͎̫͑̈́ḁ̴̛̫̞̫̒ ̴̡͇͙̄̒͛̋w̷̡̮͈̍a̴̧̘͙͌s̷͍̫̫͑̊ ̴̭͎͙̆͑̀͑ņ̷̩̈̌e̸̢̡̧͕͍͆̋̋͊̈v̷̳̼̎̌͐͘ȩ̸̙̱̮͆̂r̸͙̭͔͊̂̈́͘ ̴̧̗̣̠͚̉̏̈́͝͝ẗ̵͍̪́h̵̢̤̏̉ȩ̸̩͔r̴̮͐ē̵̘̰̼̕
Heaving a shaky breath you turn back to the window. You freeze. Eyes locked on the figure lurking down by the tree in the garden, he stands completely still, staring up at you with red eyes that you can feel nothing behind. A maw of darkness chews on you from all sides as your stomach tightens. You’re going to throw up.
The person. (Hinata?) his eyes don’t turn from yours.
nothing nothing nothing nothing
and just before you bend forward and hurl all over your shoes. His eyes blink once . Bored.
There are stories being told behind your closed eyelids. Stories of death and pain. Your eyes are fluttering and spinning but they wont open, you can't open them. Your talent makes you sick, it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts-
“Ah, good. You’re awake”
Komaeda is sitting in a plastic chair to your right. You are covered from your feet to your collarbones in an itchy blanket. The room smells like hand sanitizer.
“Oh.” You whisper, “I’m in the sick bay?”
“Yes. You lost consciousness by the window.” He laughs nervously, “I carried you over. I figured that studying for the practical exam isn't really something I need to worry about. It’s all going to come down to my luck anyway.”
You nod slowly. Still trying to slot the pieces together in your head. What made you pass out again? Dehydration?
The world is swirling, Komaeda reaches a hand out as if to steady you. His face is little more than a blur and you try to grab his hand as a way to ground yourself as the bed below you feels intangible, “Hey…” He whispers, “are you…”
You squeeze your eyes shut, forcing yourself to focus only on the sound of your breathing. When you open your eyes again, Komaeda is still there, but everything else is gone.
“Are you okay?” He asks, his hair is longer and more unruly, the bags under his eyes are deep and purple. The sky behind his head is a shock of red and smoke, “Your hands are shaking.”
When your eyes snap down to where your hands are gripping his. Bile crawls up your throat, your breath is coming quick and sharp. This doesn't make sense, why is this happening? Your head spins and twists and your heart is beating a rapid tattoo in your chest. The hand that should be gripping Komaeda’s, is instead gripping the limp wrist of a woman's hand, a sickening mixture of purple and black blotting its once pale flesh, red fingernails resting on your wrist. Your other hand is gripping a needle and thread, shaking as you are halfway through tugging a length of fishing line through the bleeding stump of Komaeda’s left forearm.
You shriek and scramble backwards, head colliding with what is once again the wall of the school infirmary. Komaeda pulls his hand back, it is his hand again.
“Ah, sorry. I shouldn't have tried to touch you.” He laughs goodnaturedly, “Even someone who confesses their love to me is too disgusted by my filth. I should have known better.” he smiles, “This is why i must decline your affections, you see, for me to dirty you with my touch. It would be a waste.”
You want to comfort him, to pull him into your arms and tell him that his touch does the opposite of disgusting you, but you can't bring yourself to do it. The sound of your heart beating in your ears is thunderous, you can still smell the rotting flesh of the dead woman's hand, still feel the sting of smoke in your eyes.
S̵̟̥̒̕͝o̵̧̯̔͛m̸̢̛͙̈́̋͛͜e̵̛̲͍̰̿̆͜ţ̶̰͐̈͆ͅh̴̟͐̕ḯ̶͓̤̏͝n̶͔͈̼̙͆̑͂̉g̵̩̖̔͊̊ ̸̢͚̆̐ͅi̶̻̋̔̕͝s̶̢̍̚ ̷̧͚̀͌ẁ̵̛̭̬̘̕͝r̶͎̖͈̋̓o̴̯̹̒̈͗̚n̴͙̲̂̽͘g̸͖͍̽̈́ ̷̫̘̠̾̊w̸͎̻̾i̷̳̮̫͊̏̇t̵̛͇̚h̴̤͙͆͗̍ ̷̨͚̹͇̃y̸̲̦̓̉́o̸͚͋̓͊͝ủ̶̹͖̈́.̵͖̔̔͋͘
Then. A realisation.
“Wait. Confess their love to you?”
“The note you left.” His head cocks to the side, “Did you forget? You had written so many kind things about me, I can't even believe half of them.” He sighs and his eyes attempt to meet yours. You stare at his shoulder instead, “I would not want you to waste your affections on me. You can do infinitely better.”
“Are you...rejecting me?”
Komaeda gives you a sad smile. The walls of the sick bay flicker and turn to static behind his head, “Please don’t misunderstand. You are wonderful, that you even confessed to me at all is...outstanding, you have so much to give and you shouldn't waste your love on someone who
His mouth is still moving like he is speaking real words. But all you can hear is that one word repeated over and over and over. Your heart is racing, you have no idea what is happening. Komaeda is just talking like nothing is wrong, the world is turning to glass out of the corner of your eyes. Breaking and reforming again behind your eyelids.
Komaeda disappears, like he was just erased from existence and you suddenly realise that you are crying. One of the tears catches on your finger, and shimmers in ways that are unnatural. What is happening to you?
There’s a creaking noise on the other side of the room and you scramble backwards on the sick bed as the boy who looks like Hinata comes in through the door. He makes no move to approach you, he stands stiffly by the doorway and watches .
You wipe the tears from your face with the back of your hand, “who are you?! What have you done with Hinata?”
“I have done nothing to Hinata. His fracturing was yours and yours alone.” He says. His voice is familiar. It digs its claws deep inside of you.
“His... fracturing? ” A sob hiccups in your throat, “What are you talking about?”
The boy doesn’t answer.
“Can you please leave me alone? ” You sniffle, wiping away more tears, “I’m having a hard enough day as it is.”
“If it brings you comfort, you will ask Komaeda many more times.” The strange boy says, staring off into the middle distance, “he will say yes on the sixth.”
“Wha- He will…?” You whisper, “How do you know?”
His eyes turn to you and you get a crawling feeling under your skin, like he is looking straight through you, “This world is fabricated, but much of it is based in reality.”
“I...what?” You blink up at him, confused, “fabricated? What are you talking about?”
“A defense mechanism. All in your mind.”
You laugh nervously, “this isn’t a very funny joke…”
“I do not joke.” He continues staring, you refuse to meet his eyes, “use your talent. If you are too afraid to believe me.”
You swallow, “I...I can’t .”
“No. You won’t ” he sighs, disappointed, “a waste of potential, predictable. Boring.”
“Fine. If this world isn’t real, how are you here?” You say, “I doubt I would create someone just to ruin my own illusion.”
“I am not from here. I have been sent to help.” His eyes are empty, his expression unchanging, “Your world is crumbling, and you need to leave it.”
“Nothing is crumbling . What is wrong with you?”
“Your denial is wasting our time. Your mind is trying to make assurances where it should not, trying to put together the pieces of three different puzzles all at once and they just don’t fit.” He takes a few steps forward, eyes still boring into you, “This ideal world you have created is not sustainable, cherry picking the good parts of three separate lives does not result in stability. If you don’t leave here, the walls will collapse around you, and you will die in the rubble.” He reaches a hand out to you, “come with me. We’ll untangle the mess of your memories, then tell me how you feel about staying.”
You are hesitant when you take his hand. The moment feels significant, like a leap into the void. You are surprised at how warm his hand is, for some reason you had expected it to be cold. He doesn't lead you anywhere like you were anticipating, instead he presses his other hand on top of yours and closes his eyes.
The smell hits you like a wall. People always say that scent has a strong connection to memory and a fondness you have never known breathes life into your lungs. It smells like autumn, bitter winds and pumpkin spice. Sandalwood, a hint of cinnamon apple and…
“Komaeda?”
His eyes turn to you, his face tight with nervousness.
“Are you okay?”
He giggles nervously, the sound echoing in the empty classroom, “Oh, me? I’m fine! My concern is what will happen to you if someone walks in and sees us like this.”
When Komaeda says like this , he means sitting together on the windowsill. Not exactly scandalous, but his own perpetual self-loathing has morphed it into something downright sinful.
There’s a brisk wind dancing through the autumn leaves outside the window. Red and orange trapezing through the sky. Komaeda has a thick green scarf wrapped around his neck and his nose is turning pink in the cold. He looks adorable.
Your mouth pulls into a firm line and you clutch your hands together in your lap, “You know i'm not trying to hide you from anyone, right?”
“And that is very kind of you. I’m sure no one would judge you poorly for hiding our relationship.” He smiles warmly, “I am human garbage, after all.”
“Komaeda, I want to tell people.” You say, rotating in place to face him more directly, “You think i confessed my feelings for you six times as a joke?”
“I did consider that at first, but the more i think about it…” He averts his eyes, cheeks turning a little pink, “It does seem like your feelings are...genuine. No matter how misguided.”
You huff and leap up from the windowsill, facing Komaeda with your hands on your hips, “You want proof that i'm not ashamed of you? Fine. I’ll do it!”
“Huh?” Komaeda breathes, “You’ll do what ?”
It is with great purpose that you cross the room over to the blackboard. Grabbing a stick of chalk and writing in big looping letters, Nagito Komaeda and I are DATING , underneath you sign it with your name. You are not about to let this be misconstrued. Komaeda is more important to you than the opinions of your classmates, you are willing to let Saionji tease you for months to come if it means he understands just how much you care. You gesture at the blackboard, “Do you get it now?”
He’s just staring at you, one hand cupped over his mouth, eyes glimmering with the beginnings of tears, and something much warmer underneath, “But...but class is going to start again in 10 minutes and everyone will-”
You cut him off, walking back over to the windowsill and cupping his face in both of your hands. Brushing an errant tear away with your thumb, you smile, “I know . That’s kind of the point.”
He gives you a watery smile, reaching his hand up to interlock his fingers with yours where they rest on your cheek. He is shaking, but it's a good kind of nervous, you can feel it behind his eyes, “I don’t deserve you…”
You laugh and press your lips to his tear stained cheek, “Yes you do.”
Then, almost as quickly as it began. The memory fades, behind Komaeda’s head you watch the sun set and rise over and over, faster and faster. Yellow, orange, blue and then purple keeps crossing Komaeda’s face like someone is tipping over a bucket of paint. He’s still smiling up at you, a hopeful expression frozen in time and you realise with horror that you can no longer feel his skin under your hands.
“No…” you whisper, reaching out to run your fingers through his hair only to find it intangible. A sob cuts loose from your throat.
“A good memory.” A voice says from behind you. That boy who looks like Hinata is standing in the doorway. His hair seems longer and darker, the tips are kissing his jawline. You’d almost forgotten he existed, “I decided it best to start simple. Your mind would not have handled something more intense.”
The sun is still rotating outside the window, light cascading through the classroom and then fading into darkness every few seconds. Like a subway train passing by a station.
“Is this the future?” You ask, voice wavering.
“No. It is the past.” He doesn't give you the time to ask anymore questions, though he can tell that you want to, “The next memory will be difficult. I will not ask if you are ready, because you will not be.”
Komaeda fluff alphabet?
//our best hope boy!!
------------------------------------------------
Nagito Komaeda Fluff Alphabet
A ctivities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?
Nagito loves to spend his free time following you around like a lost puppy, finding everything you do so amazing. Though, if you let him choose what you two do that day, he would shyly ask if you two could cuddle. “I know someone like me should touch such a beautiful person like you, but I would like to be selfish...just this once, please.”
B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?
He could never find a flaw in you. You’re absolutely perfect in his eyes. But he loves how well you listen to him and his little hope rants. He finds it so endearing that you like listening to what he has to say.
C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?
Comforting isn’t something he finds easy, but he’ll try his hardest to comfort you. He’d wrap his green jacket around your shoulders, pulling you into his slim chest as he presses small kisses to your tear stained cheeks. Your happiness is so important to him, so he’ll do anything just to see you smile again.
D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?
He dreams to marry his S/O, but he feels like he’s not good enough. He wants to be able to have a very small family, but he feels like his luck would turn on him and he’ll lose everything dear to him. You’d have to reassure him that you’ll never go away.
E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?
He’s extremely passive, letting you be the dominant in the relationship. Everything goes at your pace. If you’re comfortable, that’s when he’s happiest. Sometimes he’ll chip in some ideas on your next date or what not, but he’s not expecting you to listen to someone like him.
F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?
Nagito hates fighting with you and will do everything to avoid it. You two almost never get into arguments, but if they do happen, it’s usually from you telling him off about not appreciating himself more. You’ll have to shower him in the compliments he deserves and he’ll apologize and thank you for your utter kindness.
G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?
He’s unbelievably grateful for you and will constantly tell you so. He’ll tell you how much he appreciates everything you do, even if you just gave him half of your cookie. He loves everything you do for him, and he’ll return the favour as soon as possible.
H onesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?
He’s very open about himself and he has little to nothing to hide from you. He trusts you with his life, so he will tell you everything about himself. He doesn’t expect you to do the same, though. He wants you to be comfortable with him, and he feels like forcing you to open up to him would ruin that.
I nspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?
You’ve helped him out of the self-deprecation habit he had. He does it so much less, and now he’s starting to believe every little compliment you give him. He returns it by giving you even more compliments, and how amazing you truly are.
J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?
As much as he hates it, he’s a bit selfish over you. He gets very jealous very quickly whenever someone flirts with you. He doesn’t do anything directly, but once you two get home, he’d wrap himself around you and press small kisses to your cheek and neck. He’d apologize for being so needy, but he needs to be reassured that you’re only his.
K iss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?
He’s a very gentle kisser, almost like he doesn’t want to ruin your perfect skin. He’d take your chin into his hand, tilting it upwards as he’d press his lips to yours. He gets very shy once he pulls away, apologizing for tainting you with his lips. You’ve have to shut him up by grabbing him by his hair and pulling him down for another kiss.
L ove Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?
He’d be the one to confess to you first, but he’d feel super guilty about it. “Trash like me shouldn’t be able to even think this way about someone as amazing as you...” Just tell him to shut up and accept his confession before he goes on a crazy rant.
M arriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?
Absolutely! But he feels so scared that his luck might mess it up. He already lost the ring twice, so he had to propose as soon as he got the third one. To be honest, he would be the one to elope rather than to have a big wedding. He doesn’t want his luck to mess up such a beautiful day for you.
N icknames - What do they call their s/o?
You’re always going to be his hope. He would also call you by your first name in more intimate moments, but both in private and in public, you’re his darling hope.
O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?
He loves physical affection, so he would wrap you in his arms as he says he loves you over and over again as he peppers your face in soft, fleeting kisses. Tell him you love him too!! He’ll be over the moon!
P DA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?
He doesn’t give a damn on whos watching you two, and to be honest, he wouldn’t notice. He’ll never ever lay a hand on you without your permission, so you would have to initiate public kisses or hugs. He loves them to death though.
Q uirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.
Nagito is fantastic at giving you huge confidence boosts. He’ll compliment you everywhere and anywhere. He’ll tell you that you look stunning right in front of his friends, or how much he loves you when you two are alone. He sees no flaw in his hope.
R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?
He loves cliché, but sometimes it doesn’t work out so well for him. He’d bring you flowers, just for them to die the next day. He tries his hardest to be romantic though, but his luck always gets in the way. But the one thing that never fails, is an at home movie. But sometimes his luck ends up picking out a crappy movie, but it ends up in giggles as you two watch it.
S upport - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?
Absolutely. If you want something, he’s going to do everything to get it for you. He supports all of your goals, no matter how out there they are. He knows that you know what’s best for you. When you do reach your goal, he gets an overwhelming sense of hope and happiness in his soul when he sees you so happy.
T hrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice out your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?
Not entirely. He would do whatever you do, so if you want a bit of thrill in your relationship, he’ll be on board the entire time.
U nderstanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?
Nagito almost knows you too well. He knows when you’re feeling upset or angry, and he would do everything in his power to help you get through it. He’s very empathetic to you, so he lets you rant to him, and he’ll let you in on how he was able to figure out the problem.
V alue - How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?
He values you more than his own life. Nothing in this world can ever be better than you, and he makes it known. His constant self-deprecation rants on how you’re so much better than him, and how you deserve the world is a regular for him.
W ild Card - A random Fluff Headcanon.
When he’s sleepy, he’ll decide that he’ll be a little greedy. He pulls himself into your chest, his cheek resting on your collarbone as he has a small smile on his face. He wouldn’t say much, looking up at you with pure adoration in his eyes.
X OXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?
He adores your affection. Sometimes, he likes to lay his head on your lap as you play with his hair. It makes him fall asleep in no time. Make sure not to move too much, though. He’s a very light sleeper.
Y earning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?
Nagito is very needy, so he would go around Hajime and bother him for the entire time your gone. You’re never off of his mind, nor his conversation. Once you come back, Hajime would be thanking you as Nagito clings himself to you.
Z eal - Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind of?
You’re Nagito’s one and only, he’ll do absolutely anything for you if you asked. You’re his lifeline, you keep him stable.
