"I bet you I can skip this rock over the entire width of of this stream. If I win, you have to give me a kiss."
Tumblr media
“Oh? Do I now?” Lips curve into a smile at his boast, though in truth, she’s a little…excited? It’s rare for them to have a quiet moment such as this, and thus there are still many things new to her–skipping rocks being one of them. “I think that’s a bet I don’t mind taking.”
She leans forward eagerly as he inspects the ground, picking up a smooth, flat stone. He turns it over in his hand before nodding, evidently satisfied. He shoots her an easy grin before he turns his attention back to the stream, pulling his hand back and letting the stone fly. Ruya watches it go, sailing through the air and back downwards, where it hits the water with a PLUNK!
“…” She’s left waiting for an encore that never comes, as the stone sinks to the bottom of the stream immediately. Oh, Gods, she can’t help it–laughter bubbles up from her chest and spills forth, and she needs to take a moment to catch her breath again.
Poor Chrom is red in the face, utterly embarrassed by his failure. Well, she can’t blame him. She stands from the log where she’d been sitting and comes to his side.
“Hm, well, I guess that means I won,” she muses, stifling another giggle. “A pity–I was rather hoping you’d win this one.”

"Qiu'xi! What are you doing over here by yourself?"
Tumblr media
THE SECOND they hear Uncle Chrom call their name,  Qiu’xi twists away,  trying to hide the knit in their hands.  They hadn’t finished it on time,  but to their luck,  Uncle Chrom had been far too buy for the Yuletide season,  and only now does he seek them out.  Sadly,  it still wasn’t done.  They were too picky,  trying to perfect a fanciful knit,  befit of the king  (  who they’d always called Uncle,  before they even understood royalty.  )
TRYING to hide the scarf,  they tell him,  ❛  I’m trying to kn--  to make something!  You can’t look!  ❜

Chrom & Tempest’s Relationship @nagahearted
Alright so as with all these metas I’ve written/am planning on writing, this info will affect interactions that are assumed to take place in Tempest’s main verse, unless there’s some sort of conflict (i.e - I’m interacting with a different Chrom, a Chrom-specific child that isn’t Tempest’s or a Lucina with a preferred other mother, stuff like that).
It also, uh... causes a fairly important section of Awakening’s plotline to be... sort of canon divergent too, but uh. We’ll get to that when it comes up I don’t wanna spoil it.
Anyways alright here we go.
Tempest is recruited very early on during the first war with Plegia - before the Shepherds have successfully won the tournament for Khan Flavia. It’s on their way to Regna Ferox that they stumble upon a village near the border of Ylisse and Ferox, separated from Plegia only by an inland sea. It’s being attacked by a group of Risen, all of which are being fended off by what looks to be one dark mage - that would be Tempest.
When Chrom and co. approach her she almost takes Chrom head off with a spell because he surprised her and she thought it was just another Risen. Upon the clarification that they are not, however, she does apologize, but follows it up with telling them to leave if they’re not going to help, as they’re only serving to distract her. They agree to help, much to her surprise, and when the battle is over they ask her to join their group, having been impressed by her skills and in need of as many helping hands as possible. As luck would have she was impressed by them as well, and agrees to tag along - although she does state that if something better turns up, she’ll leave as it suits her - no guarantees on her staying forever.
From this point onwards, plot proceeds as regular - they head to Ferox, win the full ruling for Flavia and secure an alliance, go back to Ylisse, rescue Maribelle, all that jazz. Over the course of time all this takes place during, Tempest and Chrom gradually grow closer - Chrom attempting to coax Tempest into actually maybe becoming friends with everyone, since she stays pretty much closed off from the group out of a desire to not form attachments, while Tempest takes a great liking to flirting with and teasing him whenever the opportunity strikes - she takes great pleasure in making him blush and splutter, she finds. This leads to them becoming friends (much to Tempest’s surprise, honestly) and eventually starts to lead to them developing feelings for each other as well - something Tempest refuses to acknowledge and sits in outright denial of for the longest time.
Eventually, though, things come to a head and they end up sleeping together. It’s after this that Tempest realizes the true depths of her feelings for Chrom, and to be honest it terrifies her - she doesn’t have a good history with love, it’s not something that’s done her any favours in the past. This realization causes her to start to pull away from him a little bit, though she tries to hide it (albeit not very successfully).
It is during this time where she pulls away, also, that Tempest discovers she is pregnant.
Shortly after this is the ambush attempt on the Shepherds when they’re escorting Emmeryn to the Eastern Palace. While that is successfully stopped, with Emmeryn returning to Ylisstol while the rest head to Ferox to make their request for reinforcements, suspicions among the group begin to mount, especially to those who seem distant or are not known very well by the others - especially Tempest, with how withdrawn she’s been ever since the incident with Chrom (in her defense, she’s... trying to figure out a lot of things, there are a lot of things she has to figure out how to tell/talk to Chrom about...). But they’ve already been betrayed once, by someone who had been a trusted friend to the royal family for years - who’s to say they wouldn’t be betrayed again by someone they knew even less well?
As it so happens, another ambush does occur while they’re on the way to Ferox. There is no tip off that anyone betrayed them and set them up for it this time (and in fact, no one did - this group had been relying off of the same information passed on by the Hierarch, with orders to intercept them should the first group fail). While no one says anything outright, suspicion is thrown Tempest’s way, and it leads to the core group of Shepherds having a meeting later that night after they’ve made camp, to discuss the situation and what to do with any potential traitors.
Seeing as Tempest is one of the ones under suspicion, she is not informed of this meeting, and unfortunately for her she decides that it’s probably about time she told Chrom about everything and they talked things through. She gets to his tent just in time to hear someone accuse her for setting them up for the ambush, and turns around and leaves almost immediately, before she even has a chance to hear Chrom leap to her defense (which he does).
Taking advantage of the fact that they’re all busy pointing fingers and unaware of the fact that they were just overheard, Tempest makes a rather hasty, snap-judgement decision to leave, without telling anyone. She packs her things and darts off into the night, heading back to Plegia, to a small village deep in the desert. She remains there for the remainder of the war with Plegia, hearing news of the Exalt’s death and eventually Gangrel’s as well, and it is here that she eventually gives birth to Lucina. She spends the next two years in this village, living among the locals and raising her daughter. Meanwhile, back in Ylisse, Chrom, having been distraught when it was discovered Tempest fled, remains unmarried.
When the first of Valm’s fleet steps foot in Port Ferox, it doesn’t take long for word to spread, and it does reach Tempest’s ears. It takes her a sleepless night or two to decide on what to do, but eventually she does come to a decision; leaving Lucina in the care of an older Plegian couple she trusts in the village, she makes her way back to Ylisse, intent on offering up her services as a sorceress to help in the war effort, for she knows that should Valm successfully invade, there will be no safe haven for she and Lucina to stay in any longer.
It’s safe to say that her reunion with Chrom is... incredibly tense and awkward. She’s hiding the fact that they have a child together, he feels betrayed and hurt by her having left without a word, and it’s been two years for all those feelings to be left to sit and fester. For quite a long while they go out of their way to avoid each other, only interacting as is necessary for official duties and such.
Of course, this.... becomes a problem when they’re ambushed on Carrion Isle and it’s revealed that ‘Marth’ is actually Lucina from the future. Chrom has no idea Lucina even exists, remember, but it doesn’t take long for the full truth of the matter to come out - that she is indeed Chrom and Tempest’s daughter, from a future where Tempest didn’t leave and she was raised in Ylisstol with both parents, rather than in a desert village with only her mother.
Things are kind of... even worse, after that. While they don’t have an outright fight, Chrom does confront Tempest on the matter, and she does tell him the truth of it all, and things seem to become even more tense between them, if that was even possible. Matters are definitely not helped when the rest of the future children start to appear and Leilani appears with them, also claiming to be their daughter - a story which both Lucina and the brand over Leilani’s heart confirm.
It’s safe to assume that they try to keep the exact particulars concerning Lucina and Leilani’s origins relatively hush-hush, as well, though. It’s not hard for the others to draw assumptions, of course, concerning the girls appearances and the rest of the future children in tow, but the only one who is told of the full situation by default would be Robin. Others will have to be discussed on how much they know, although it is safe to assume suspicion by default.
It’s safe to say that for a little while Leilani and Lucina are concerned about this time’s Leilani even having a chance to exist, as their parents are on less than good terms and the chances of them getting back together seem incredibly slim. This leads to them trying to bridge the gap between the two, with varying rates of success (read - very little or none at all).
Eventually, though, the rift does begin to mend little by little. Something that helps immensely with this happens at one point when the Shepherds have returned to Ylisse and are making their way back to the capital - Tempest asks Robin if they can stop at a certain village nearby, as they need to rest and resupply, and now would be as good a time as any. It’s agreed to with little hesitation - and as it turns out, the village they arrive at is the self same one Tempest had been living in - where she’d left this timelines Lucina. It is for this reason mainly that she suggested they stop, and she takes Chrom to meet their daughter for the first time while the rest of the Shepherds are preoccupied elsewhere.
Aaaand this is what we’ve got for now. At some point, the pair does eventually fully make up and get together, although tbh Via and I haven’t gone into to much detail about how/when/why it happens, we just... know that it does.
SO yeah. The main things this affects are which of the Shepherds will know Tempest and when - going by in-game chapters, she leaves shortly after the events of Chapter 7, before Chapter 8 starts, and doesn’t come back until after the two year skip, shortly after the events of Chapter 12 - meaning characters recruited in between that time will not know her or of her past history with the Shepherds. It also means that Chrom doesn’t automarry any of his options or the village maiden, nor is there a lil baby Lucina left in Ylisstol when the war starts - instead she’s two and in Plegia and no one knows about her until the ambush on Carrion Isle.
I think that’s it tbh? If I realize I forgot something I’ll edit/reblog it later.

Robin Weaver, the Risen
Plot Generated Here
A Fantasy Novel by Lenora Love
Tumblr media
In a tent there lived a violent, handsome Risen named Robin Weaver. Not a cursed grand, passionate tent, filled with maps and a magical smell, nor yet a cold, wild, old-fashioned tent with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a Risen-tent, and that means warmth.
One day, after a troubling visit from the dragon Chrom Ylisse, Robin leaves her tent and sets out in search of three silver swords. A quest undertaken in the company of trolls, goblins and dirty witches.
In the search for the dragon-guarded swords, Robin Weaver surprises even herself with her intelligence and skill as a strategist.
During her travels, Robin rescues a tome, an heirloom belonging to Chrom. But when Chrom refuses to try drinking, their friendship is over.
However, Chrom is wounded at the Battle of Ylisse-Plegia War and the two reconcile just before Robin engages in some serious drinking.
Robin accepts one of the three silver swords and returns home to her tent a very wealthy Risen.

“Is it that bad?” She thought it turned out rather well, for the first time she’s cooked without Rajya watching over her shoulder. It isn’t something she gets to practice much–her duties as tactician won’t allow it–but there’s something soothing about the act of cooking, and she’d been excited to show off her new skill to her first (and dearest) friend. “I even made sure to triple-check the instructions…”

“Oh, Chrom! I-- Pardon me, I didn’t see you there.” And what, pray tell, has Robin’s royal patron found his tactician in the midst of?
Shortly before breakfast’s formal end, he’d excused himself and departed the mess tent while smuggling a tied kerchief-full of leftovers under his coat. He’s been caught, now, hand-feeding them to a family of strays-- one tortoiseshell mother cat and her kittens; no fewer than four, in assorted colors. This is a rare show of tenderness from the ranks of the Shepherd’s most standoffish, and he seems almost embarrassed by it (though he makes no move to move away from the mewling furballs still crowded around his ankles).    @nagahearted // sc.

Chrom & Cordelia’s Relationship @nagahearted
this is just a repost of their ship meta from the old blog tbh - i haven't changed anything except maybe cleaning it up and reworking some wording tbh. under a cut bc it’s ginormous, as usual.
Chrom and Cordelia first met just after the latter had been recruited as a Pegasus Knight in training - she was 15, he 16. Their first meeting consisted of Chrom finding her in the training yard running through drills & then offering to spar with her. Cordelia, thinking he was just another recruit like herself (his brand was covered and she’d never seen him before then, and neither of them made to introduce themselves before the fight began), accepted.
They were pretty evenly matched for the most part, but eventually Chrom got the upper hand and won. Frederick showed up then and basically ousted Chrom as the prince. It was then that they finally got around to introducing themselves.
Over the course of the next year sparring would become somewhat of a regular occurrence for them. If one of them happened to be in the training yard when the other showed up, they’d face off for a few rounds, occasionally breaking it up with idle small talk and getting to know each other somewhat. It was over this period of time that Cordelia first began to develop feelings for Chrom - but at this point it was basically just school-girl-crush level and she enjoyed spending time with him, nothing more.
Fast forward to the end of that year. Bandits are coming into Ylisse more and more often, the recruits are still hazing Cordelia pretty badly, and her father’s just passed away. She gets the bright idea to go and deal with one particular group of thugs near Ylisstol - two birds with one stone, in that if she’s successful then the other knights won’t have grounds to mock her anymore, and perhaps she can release some of the pent up frustration that’s been building.
But of course that was a bad idea. She sneaks out in the middle of the night to go deal with the bandits and at first it’s going pretty well - up until an archer clips one of her pegasus’ wings with an arrow. She’s grounded and things turn for the worse pretty quickly; her lance is broken and she’s about to be struck down
Enter Chrom just in the nick of time - he’d seen her leave and followed her. He blocks the attack long enough for Cordelia to shake off the shock and pick up a stray weapon from the ground and together they manage to drive the bandits off.
Needless to say Chrom is pissed afterwards though. Things between them are incredibly tense after that and Cordelia starts to go out of her way to avoid him. With determinedly trying to avoid someone, however, comes a certain amount of having to watch that someone and memorize their frequent routes so you know what places to avoid and when. Watching him from afar like that, coupled with the feelings she’d already begun to hold for him and her shock that he had saved her life, that he’d seen her leave and cared enough (or at least had been curious enough) to follow after her culminates everything to a tipping point and she begins to fall in love with him in earnest.
This only causes her to want to avoid him more, truthfully - after what happened she’s thoroughly convinced he’ll never see her as anything more than a reckless, foolish failure of a pegasus knight, and being around him now hurts too much because of how much she convinces herself her feelings can never be returned. She hopes, that with distance and time, they’ll just… disappear.
As luck would have it (or maybe not?), her training and duties leave her with less and less free time, and likewise he gets busier as time goes on as well. Even after Cordelia is appointed to the Queen’s Guard and her proximity to him becomes closer out of necessity, she barely sees him aside from passing by in the halls.
Skip ahead to in-game events, Cordelia’s recruitment chapter. She’d been reassigned to her old unit to help out with maintaining the border while Phila and the others moved Emmeryn the the Eastern Palace. That fails ofc, and when arrangements are made to take Emmeryn back to the capital, Phila orders Cordelia to stay with the Shepherds and help them out.
That was literally like... the last thing Cordelia wanted tbh. She’d been hoping to accompany Phila and the Exalt back to Ylisstol, as was her intended duty - Phila’s orders make tha impossible though, and she has no choice but to agree; she can only hope that her duties never overlap with Chrom’s.
But of course they overlap. Through some odd twist of fate she and Chrom get paired up frequently on the battlefield and countryside patrols throughout the course of the war and slowly but surely the awkwardness that was between them ever since The Incident starts to fade away and a mutual attraction starts to grow in it’s place
Winter comes and they’re out on what’s supposed to be a routine patrol of the countryside when a freak blizzard hits. they’re forced to stay at an inn for several days - unfortunately there’s only one room left, with one bed, and they’re forced to share
well… sort of. they argue for a good while about who gets the bed, who sleeps on the floor, etc, until finally reaching an impasse and agreeing to simply share the bed and keep to their sides. despite the attraction that’s been building between them and cordelia’s newfound ease in being around chrom, things seem as awkward as ever before - in part because The Incident is still weighing pretty heavily over the both of them and they haven’t had a chance to discuss the original rift in their early friendship since it first occurrence
over the days that they’re stuck at the inn, however, the subject does come up and they talk through it and actually put the situation fully behind them. this marks a dramatic shift in their relationship, and the distance that was between them continues to close more and more. sharing the bed at the inn brings about an almost easy sort of intimacy, surprisingly enough, and they end up fooling around more than once before the storm lets up - nothing ever gets past really heated kissing, though.
eventually the storm subsides and a group of the shepherds manages to track them down and bring them back to the garrison and from that point on chrom and cordelia’s relationship has sort of… permanently changed. there’s a new sort of awkwardness surrounding their interactions - not a bad one, but it’s definitely awkward all the same.
Fast forward to the end of the war with Plegia. Chrom and Cordi have grown closer together still and by this point Chrom is fully intent on asking her to marry him. He’s actually about to do so (think of the automarriage scene), but unfortunately the chance is ripped away from him. A stray surviving archer from the Plegian army had managed to go unnoticed in the aftermath of the battle and thought to try and shoot Chrom down from behind - just as he’s talking to Cordelia and about to pop the question
Cordelia sees the archer but it’s too late for both of them to dodge the arrow - acting on instinct she shoves him out of the way and takes the arrow in his stead. it lands dead center in her chest and she collapses.
Honestly Cordi only just barely survives the arrow wound. It just barely missed her heart, puncturing a lung instead, and if it hadn’t been for quick action from Libra, Lissa and Maribelle, Cordelia likely would have died. As it is, she spends about a week afterwards in a sort of coma as she’s recovering from the wound.
This is about as far as we’ve gotten, tbh. some stuff during/after cordi’s recovery has been plotted, but not to full extent, and at some point chrom does ask cordi to marry him but via won’t fuckin tell me anything >_>
