Okay, what we think about Rafe and Nadine relationship? Was it s*xual? Professional? Romantic? I’ve see a lot of back and forth between them. What do you think?

Okay, so I dont know if I really have that much to say for this question. Their relationship is pretty ambiguous throughout the game and, although I have some theories, I couldn't really make big reflections or really bring myself to see much beyond the surface, but I'm gonna try my best with it!

I went into a little research on different forums for this one, mostly on reddit, but just as I suspected, getting into this spaces is diving into a territory where the line between "game analysis" and "misogynistic discourse" is as blurry as it can get. Most of them would refer to Nadine as a gold digger who hooked up with Rafe because she needed his money to keep her army afloat and that is, in my opinion, underestimating Nadine, if not straight up disrespecting her whole character.

So, that said, here are some of my conclusions:

Short answer:

Professional? No doubt.

Sexual? Maybe.

Romantic? I really don't think so.

Nadine and Rafe's relationship, although presented as strictly professional, heavily implies through the whole game that there is something more to it. The way they act around each other, the tension, everything brings us to think there is something there that we, as outsiders, are missing. 

The things is, this said tension, I really can't make out the nature of it.

There is a sort of complicity between them, that could either come from a complicated relationship they have, covered by the professionalism they both hold in their workplace, or by a twisted game of power to determine who is in control in this said "equal" partnership, where they both enjoy their little moments of triumph any time any of then gets the upper hand against the other.

I lean more towards the second option.

For example:

In Scotland, at the end of the cave scene where Nadine and Rafe argue about their disagreements of the methods each of them choose to carry out their search for the treasure, Nadine leaves Rafe completely speechless and then finishes their conversation with a simple "it's not personal" accompanied by an unusually gentle gesture of softly touching his face with her hand and a smile.

Now that gesture, placing her hand on his face so gently, did not come across to me as sweet in any way. It was purely provocative, not in a sexual way, but to show Rafe that she was right, that now she had the upper hand and that she was the one in control of this situation and finished making her point with a self satisfied smile.

Later, reaching the end of the game, when they find Avery's ship and Sam steals one of Rafe boats, they again find themselves in another heated argument: Nadine wants to quit, Rafe wants to keep going.

And here things start to reach its peak:

Nadine tells Rafe he doesn't deserve the treasure, that is a direct punch to Rafe ego, who gets to the point of physically striking her, not only in an anger outburst, but also to assert his dominance over a situation he's losing control of.

Nadine, as expected, strikes back, harder, in an attempt to climb back the step Rafe just pushed her off of. But Rafe had a trick under his sleeve and so Nadine finds herself with the guns of her own soldiers pointed at her head.

Now this takes Nadine by surprise and suddenly, he has the upper hand. Or that's what she lets him believe.

Her final and winning act is betraying Rafe and locking him on that ship to burn with the treasure that cost her her army.

In the end, none of them won. But Rafe is dead and Nadine is alive. It's too late for him, but she still has a chance to make something out of it and regain everything she lost to Avery.

Now their relationship... for me it's not a relationship, it's a competition. Aside from the auction scene, all their interactions denote a certain rivalry. It might have started as a partnership, but this is what you get when you cross two people with different mindsets but same level of pride.

If there was something sexual to it, we'll never know. But this is my analysis based on the things the game canonically shows.

Chloe Frazer is a tease. She’ll take all the time in the world to admire every inch of you before she gets to the point. She enjoys grazing your neck with a flourish of butterfly-light pecks, slowly working her way up to your mouth. And then, she goes all in.

Elena Fisher is gentle, she’s the type of girl to give you a peck on the cheek whenever she walks by. She’ll pepper your lips in a plethora of sweet kisses, or hold your face with tender hands and ghost your lips. She can be an awkward kisser at times, but it’s still nice.

The way Rafe Adler kisses is a reflection of his personality: mean. He devours you as a whole, not wanting to share the rest of you with anyone, or anything else. He’ll grip your waist roughly, leaving bruises for the morning, and holds the back of your head so it pushes into his own.

Nathan Drake can be sloppy about it. He doesn’t care to hide how eager he is to taste your lips. He’ll hold you gently, as careful with your precious body as he would be with something delicate he would find during his travels.

Nadine Ross dives right into it, and she bites. Your kisses are a whirlwind of teeth and tongue, they’re heated and angry, but not without the undertone of a burning passion.

It depends on the person for Sam Drake, if it’s one of his flings, he’s rough and unforgiving, but if it’s someone he genuinely connects with, he’ll put his entire heart into it. He kisses you like it’s going to be the last time he’ll ever do it. He has a thought in the back of his mind at all times that he’ll die, or be taken away on one of his little expeditions, and he wants to adore you while it lasts.

A/n: Last Chapter, but I'll probably make other spinoff Uncharted fanfics! This was so much fun to write! I might also write fanfics for the other three games and for Lost Legacy. Gonna see how college goes next semester. :)

Camila felt the sand between her toes as she walked along the beach. She hummed softly as she listened to the gentle waves crashing on the sand. She stopped and turned to stare out at the ocean. She felt Rafe wrap his arms around her waist as he placed soft kisses on her neck. 

She giggled and looked at him. He looked at her with a smile and gently kissed her lips. She kissed him back for a few moments before pulling away.

“Damien wants to know if he can go play with Cassie.” Rafe told her.

“Babe, Cassie is his cousin, of course he can.” 

“Just wanted to ask you because he’s already there.” 

Camila laughed and shook her head. “They literally live next door.”

Rafe laughed as well as he pulled away and gently grabbed her hands. “You remember when we went on our honeymoon to Fiji?”

“Oh yes, I do.”

Rafe grinned as he swung their hands, walking backwards. “Probably the best trip of my life.”

“Oh so almost getting killed by Avery’s ship wasn’t?” Cami teased.

Rafe rolled his eyes and smiled, before gently twirling his wife before pulling her into his chest. 

“I’m so glad I can run our company online. Makes it so much easier to travel and do what we need to do.”

Camila looked up at her husband and wrapped her arms around his neck. 

“We should go on another trip then.” 

Rafe raised an eyebrow and smirked. “Oh? Where to, my love?”

“You know, Paris would be nice. Especially with the whole family, and the Drakes.”

“Paris would be amazing.”

“Aunt Cami! Uncle Rafe!” Cassie’s voice piped up from a distance.

Camila and Rafe turned towards their niece and saw her and their son sprinting towards them, with Nate and Elena trailing behind.

“Mom and Dad were treasure hunters!!” Cassie beamed.

“Oh yeah?” Cami replied with a smile.

“Uncle Nate said you were one too!” Damien grinned.

The woman chuckled and shook her head. “Your father too.”

“What?! Really??” Cassie and Damien looked at them in awe and surprise.

Nate and Elena caught up to the kids as Camila and Rafe looked at them.

“You kids are something else.” Nate laughed.

“Come on, I think it’s time for you to hear the stories.” Camila hummed as she and Rafe grabbed hands and began walking towards the boat gently rocking by the dock.

Nate and Elena exchanged a glance before looking at the kids following right behind Rafe and Camila. Camila could feel the distance ache of being shot, stabbed, punched, and getting beat up in general during her expeditions with Nate. Their dogs--Vicky, a Labrador Retriever and Gunner, a German Shepherd--hopped into the boat. Nate got behind the wheel and piloted the boat away from the dock.

“What was your favorite expedition?” Cassie asked as Rafe and Cami settled in next to each other.

“I think finding Shambala. That was the trip your father and I really bonded the most on.” Cami said.

“And got betrayed the most.” Nate chimed in with a slight laugh.

Cami laughed and nodded. 

“At one point, we had a huge tank chasing after us. It was honestly just chaos, but when is it ever not chaos?”

Gunner came over and whined, placing his head into Rafe’s lap, and the male rubbed the dog’s head as he listened to his wife tell the story of her and Nate finding Shambala.

“We should go on an expedition!” Damien announced.

All of the adults collectively winced and looked at each other. 

“Is that a good idea?” Elena asked.

“I don't know...” Nate remarked.

"Well, there are some treasures that still have to be found.” Camila suggested, causing her husband to look at her like she was crazy.

“Like what??” Cassie asked.

“The Ark of the Covenant. The Florentine Diamond. The Treasure of San Miguel. Thomas Beale’s Code. Leon Trabuco’s Gold. There are so many.” Camila glanced up at her brother.

“Well...” Nate trailed off, “...let’s think about it.”

“How about the Ark?” Rafe interjected. “Or Beale’s Code?”

Camila grinned and looked at Rafe. “You in?”

Rafe looked at the kids before looking at his wife. “You’re always up for an adventure, aren't you?”

“Fortune favors the bold.” 

Rafe and Camila, along with Cassie and Damien, turned to look at Nate and Elena. 

“What about you two?” Rafe asked. “You two in?”

Nate and Elena looked at each other, and both of their shoulders sagged a bit. Nate looked at his sister and shook his head.

“We’re in.”
