1) the vfx were better than the trailer made it seem

2) unexpectedly the first half of the movie suffered a lot more than the second. I was expecting the plot to be rougher than the romance because of the cast and director but honestly... It was ROUGH. I fully expected isha to be a spy even though i knew they wouldn't do that (and alias good enough to actually hint that if it was the case, though she may have been directed away from it) because that would make more sense to me lol. also having her revealed to have an astra herself later would've been hot BUT we can't have nice things. and like if not that play up the strangeness of their instant connection don't just play it straight. they knew each other for a week lol

3) the dialogue was BAD. Like. BAD. who the hell did they have on the script????

4) honestly the concept fucks and the execution was not nearly as poor as I expected it would be. i am fully looking forward to the next one like i can see myself getting sucked into it as a concept.

Things I learned while re-watching Star Plus Mahabharata (Part 4/many):

1) Finally, Dronacharya is in the picture and he has some major attitude and aukaat. This will spice things up amidst the vanilla, pansy-ass Kurus.

2) Mahabharata is here fulfilling all my brother-in-law angst.

3) Kripa hitting Drona where it hurts..uff.

4) I solved the mystery of why Kripa is motherfucking old, he’s an immortal.

5) Kunti praying to Shiva…if I were Shiva I would be scared and give her what she wants. These Yadavs are not to be taken lightly.

6) Bhishma is not fooled by a single one of his grandsons, is he?

7) I’ve said this before but I love Shakuni’s dramatic ass.

8) Not Ram. Arjun is the best of men. Even as a child, it’s so clear why he was Kunti’s favourite, Drona’s favourite. And Bhishma’s favourite. Arjun is Draupadi’s favourite and Krishna’s favourite. When you’re God’s favourite, you obviously are the best of men.

9) ‘Parth’ is canon eeeeee

10) Yudhisthir trying to teach his brothers to be pansies just like his father taught him. Thank God Kunti and all her Yadav sense was there to knock some sense into them.

11) Poor Bhishma trying to so hard to be human and to care like one and failing mostly. Not everyone has nailed this avatar thing properly.

12) Bhishma reminding Dhritarashtra that he’s not the first blind person in the world lmaoooo

13) Drona appears to be a little extreme but a rational person at the end of the day. How did he end up with the bad guys?

14) Also, his mild obsession with Drupad makes me think that there was more to that story than meets the eye.

15) No wonder Drupad wanted Arjun to be his son-in-law, the one person Drona loved the most.

16) Drona’s statue built by Ekalavya looks a lot more like Kripa.

17) I feel like I should feel bad for Ekalavya as he’s going to become one of the first victims of casteism in India…oh no, wait, he just shot three arrows into a dog’s mouth, he’s dead to me now.

18) What happened with Ekalavya, is so poignant, and a proof of how for millennia we have been complicit in the subjugation of our scheduled castes and tribes - this story really has everything in it. Also A+ 10/10 for the background score.

19) I love Drona. I didn’t think I would this much, but I do. There’s something so otherworldly and primal about him - like Ganga. And the actor, he doesn’t appear to be acting at all. Drona is his role of a lifetime.

20) The reason I love Arjun the most is because of all the qualities we have identified in the best of men - bravery, loyalty, intelligence and ambition - he is a combination of all four.

21) I can just imagine Ganga cackling to herself as she sends this big-ass crocodile to take a chonk out of Drona thinking, ‘this is going to be so much fun’.

22) Karna obviously did not get the memo that Drona is the biggest casteist this side of the Indus because he thinks he’s going to teach him, a Sut kid.

23) I just realised that the actor who played Duryodhan in B R Chopra’s Mahabharat plays Parashuram in Starbharat! Good for you, Puneet Issar!|

24) Goddamit Karna is going to get bitten by that fake looking bug.

25) I was just going to say that Dronacharya probably learned his casteism from Parashuram but it appears that they had to make Parashuram a legit Vishnu avatar. He seems okay. Where did we go wrong, Ram?

26) Aww, even Kakashri Vidur and Drona are friends. What’s the deal with Vidur anyway?

27) Duryodhan and his L’oreal hair.

28) Yudhisthir straight up bungee jumped into the playground bro.

29) My man, Kuntiputra Arjun, maybe just a prince, but he sure is the king of trash talk.

30) They were right. This story really has everything. But most interestingly I like how this story is mostly about selfish parents, even the Gods, wanting to leave a legacy for their children. Ganga wanted Bhishma to be king. Satyavati wanted her sons to be kings. When her sons died without heirs, she wanted her illegitimate son’s bloodlines to inherit the throne. Dhritarashtra wanted Duryodhan to be king. Pandu wanted Yudishthir to be king. Kunti wanted Arjun to survive over her illegitimate firstborn. Duryodhan wanted Lakshman to be king. Subhadra wanted to Abhimanyu, and after him, Parikshit, to be king. Krishna crowned Pradyumna crown prince in the hope that he would be Lord of Dwarka after him. And at the end of the day, the Kauravas and the Pandavas fought the war but the war was won by the Yadavs that played the long game. This story indeed has everything. But in the end when it is being narrated to Janamejaya and Vajranabha, the kings of Hastinapur and Indraprastha respectively, one is the are grandson of Subhadra and the other is the great-grandson of Krishna, and that tells you that men and Gods alike have one and only one primal instinct - to leave behind a legacy for their children.

31) Did they change Kripacharya? Looks like being an immortal is like being an icchadhari naagin.

32) The biggest disservice any retelling of Mahabharat can do is to downplay the relationship between Karna and Duryodhana. Yes, Karna was a social climber and Duryodhana only made friends with him in the hope that he would come in handy against Arjun. But it didn’t start and end there. Karna was loyal and he loved Duryodhan. Duryodhan never begrudged Karna’s low birth and treated him like a friend and equal. Karna was as much a part of his family as any of his brothers. Karna was friends with his wife, was an uncle to his children. That sort of thing is not born from just convenience. People need to stop whitewashing Karna as some guy who was compelled to fight for Duryodhan against his will. What makes Karna’s character so great was the fact that he was so flawed and hitched his ride to the wrong wagon but stuck by it.

33) Duryodhan pointing out that the five Pandavas are not Pandu’s biological children, which is 100% fact but somehow is considered scandalous. Also, how does it even matter? None of them are Shantanu’s bloodline. That died with Bhishma, Chitrangad and Vichitraveerya. They are all sons and grandsons of randos. Important randos but randos.

34) The Pandavas and Kunti always get to me. Is there anything as pure as the love of a single mother and her sons?

35) Arjun so soft. Cries in court.

36) As a person who grew up in a family that loved them only to be estranged as ambitions diverged, I can feel the story of Dhritarashtra, growing up loving Pandu, only to hate his sons. Sometimes, in Indian families, love isn’t enough.

37) How does everyone not immediately shit their pants when Dronacharya stares down at them? That man gives me crazy Vishwamitra vibes.

38) Every time you think you know what the Mahabharat is about, it changes. It goes from being the story of a war between the Pandavas and Kauravas to Bhim and Duryodhan’s enmity to Arjun and Karna’s stand-off to a story of revenge. Drona’s revenge on Drupad. Drupad’s revenge on Drona. Gandhari and Shakuni’s revenge on the Kurus. Draupadi’s revenge on the Kauravas.

Agreed. Naagin 3 is farrrrr better than the chidiya ghar that was Naagin 2 (what I saw of it anyways). 

But, I think nothing can replicate the charm of Naagin 1 for me, Rivanya’s love story was pretty well narrated, simple and sweet. Rithik is one of my fav MLs on ITV. 

Things I like about Naagin 3, whatever I’ve seen of it:

1. Surbhi Jyoti and Anita H. Not just because they are gorgeous, but they are good actors as well. 

Mouni and Adaa were slightly raw, immature (?) with their performance, which was the demand of the role since Shivanya and Shesha were cousins looking for revenge. 

Surbhi and Anita, meanwhile, play more mature naagins as Bela and Vish. Bela is the queen/Naagrani and Vish is her best friend/confidant/partner-in-crime/commander, if you like. The characters require more maturity, and I like how Surbhi and Anita portray them on screen. 

I especially like Anita’s sass at the men, its one of the most attractive aspects of the show, specially her attitude towards Yuvi in the beginning. 

2. Bela’s character is a cut above other naagins, because not only is she here for revenge, she is entrusted with looking after the naagmani (old story) and the naag population. Everyone bows down to her. I like how she’s got this whole ‘superhero’ vibe to her, defeating newer enemies popping out of nowhere. 

Its not just about revenge anymore, but also duties of being a princess, heir to the Naag kingdom, and I really appreciate how Surbhi carries herself as the Naarani. 

Gone are the days of Shivanya’s impassioned hunger for vengeance against her mother’s murderers. Bela is here not just for revenge, but to punish, to put people in line, to protect her throne, and there is a more controlled rage, and a more dignified manner in which Surbhi carries herself as Naagrani. 

3. An unproblematic ML. I think Pearl needs to improve his acting skills, but Mahir as a character is really nice to watch. He is soft, supportive, but also sensible (most of the times), and though a little desperate lol, I like him.

4. Surbhi and Pearl’s chemistry is cute. I won’t say its as great as say Surbhi’s chemistry with KSG, KVB or Shoib, but its interesting enough to watch. 

5. I love, love, love the costumes/sarees that the cast wears, specially Bela and Vish. 

There is this general air of lavishness to an Ekta set, which I like. Balaji has the money and it likes to spend it, and the audience loves to watch. So, thats a win-win. 

Things I don’t like:

1. The pace of the story. It seems to drag at some points, and circle around the same thing so many times...that ugh, that annoys me. 

2. The unnecessary characters who are introduced for filler weeks. I hated that chudail and that bagpiper man (whatever their names were). Ugh, truly hated them, they were so not needed. 

3. Innumerable plug-ins. There was this chain of movie promotions: Veere di Wedding, Laila Majnu, Stree, etc. So unnecessary and annoying. 

4. The lack of gore. I feel the bite is missing. Like Surbhi and Anita are carrying the burden of the naagin killings on their shoulders, the action director/writer of those scenes is not doing his/her job properly. 

I remember how Shivanya and Shesha killed Suri in the temple. I think that was my most favorite kill on Naagin ever. The drama level of that kill, and the execution, nothing comes close to that!! 

I felt none of the succeeding seasons (2 or 3) could replicate the dramatic and slick execution of action/killing scenes, although season 3 is much better. Season 2 was a failure on all accounts. 

Something about the killings in this season, like all the hard work is left to the actors, the lighting is poor and really dark, the sequence of how it plays out is not well thought out, the drama quotient is low, among other things. 

So, yeah this is about it, I think. I still have to catch up on the latest epis, so maybe my opinion might change 🤷‍♀️

A film, whose story is the same as another film “MAATR” starring Raveena Tandon.. ( not many would have seen MAATR, but those who have, shall vouch for this) .. HOWEVER, the treatment of MOM is very different.. How? let me tell u..

1. Excellent background score. - One of A R Rahman’s best till date. It LIFTS the movie to new heights of thrill and depth of emotions. 

2. Well etched out role of Nawaazuddin Siddiqui- He LIVES the role of DK , the detective. 

3. Dialogues: ALL scenes between the heroine and Nawaazuddin are a CUT above the BEST i n every aspect, thanks to the CRISP dialogues. 

3. SREEDEVI: This is her 300th film.. i repeat 300TH FILM !!!! What a huge body of work she has behind her.. And what can 300 films make u ? Watch Sree in this film, and u will get all ur answers. The bubbly MANJU of CHAALBAAZ, the serene and silent CHAANDNI of  CHAANDNI and the passionate NAAGIN of NAGINA gives way to a intelligent, warm mother of 2 beautiful daughters, who can go to ANY extent for her kids. The FULL CIRCLE of human emotions get conveyed thru Sree’s eyes in EVERY FRAME of this film- and THAT forms the SOUL of MOM. 

Easily, one of the best performances by ANY leading lady in Hindi Cinema. 

One can easily forgive errors like casting a competent actor like Akshaye Khanna in one of the not-so-strong roles of his career so far- or also the film getting a bit FILMI in its second half when the revenge saga begins. ( not to tell anything more of the plot here) 

But in ONE word if I want to sum up MOM, that word would be WOW !!!

Naagin 3: Anita Hassanandani and Surbhi Jyoti prove they are the hottest naagins in these NEW photos

Naagin 3 is one of the top-rated television serials currently. The supernatural thriller finds a spot on the top 10 TRP list week after week. The show's leading ladies Anita Hassanandani and Surbhi Jyoti are also one of the most popular faces on the Indian television. In a recent post, both the actresses upped the glam quotient as they posed for the camera. The show's cast are really close to each other and we often come across pictures on social media of the cast spending time with each other.

Anita and Surbhi simultaneously took to Instagram to post a picture of their random photo shoot on the sets of Naagin 3. Looks like the Naagins were having a good time as they also posted a series of videos on their Instagram stories on Tuesday. Anita and Surbhi's co-star Rajat Tokas aka Vikrant clicked their pictures and we have to say that Anita and Surbhi are indeed the hottest naagins. 

Naagin 3 enjoys a huge fan following and has kept their audiences hooked to their supernatural saga. However, reports of the show going off air in February were doing the rounds. But the show has now been extended till May 2019 and will be replaced by another supernatural thriller Kavach 2. The makers of Kavach 2 want their show to begin airing after this year's IPL season comes to an end. The cricket tournament will start from March 23, 2019, and will end by mid-May.
