Snakes are symbolic beings. They connect to the fluidity of feminine energy and are also seen as a bridge between the conscious and unconscious mind because they can slither on land and swim in watery depths. Water is a known symbol of the unconscious. Of course, there is the negative association l to snakes as well, such as in the story of Adam and Eve when the devil desguises himself as a snake. Frankly, I don't believe in any devil. I do however believe snakes, as well as women, have been misunderstood and treated as conniving or somehow evil in the past (and still now 😕). Bringing the snake into the light feels like a symbolic step of bringing feminine power into the light. I've had many dreams about snakes, eels and other slithery creatures. They are always comforting, beautiful dreams connected to freedom of spirit and body. I'd like to get a tattoo of one, one day, but the process is still new in my mind. Drawing this being was a calming and thoughtful experience. She is actually on white paper but I like how she looks under this filter.
