Hey! Just wanted to say i love your fics and your words and i would read literally anything written by you even if it's not from the fandom im in. Speaking of, if you have published works(non fanfic?) written by you i would love to read them too, or the ones to be published in the future, it would be nice if you could let know when you publish?:))

Thank you so much! I'm definitely trying to publish (had an agent... lost an agent... looking for an agent again) but it's slow going and I've had no luck so far. I've always been worried about connecting my online identity to my professional one since you hear about authors being harassed for problematic stuff they've written, but times are changing re: how fanfic is perceived by the public and I really would like to be able to share if anything happens—mostly because of nice people like you who are rooting for me and would (hopefully) enjoy my original work. I've also played with the idea of self-publishing shorter form stuff under a pseudonym. I'll try to let you know if I land on anything or if anything happens. In the meantime I'm extremely grateful for your enthusiasm!

I have to admit that when I crawled out of the woodwork to post a League of Legends fic for characters that have never interacted in canon I ping ponged between laughing and wincing for the people who are subscribed to my ao3. Absolutely no one was waiting for that fic to happen. Thank you for rejoicing at my continued existence regardless! 🙈😂

Will you be finishing your Star Wars fic on AO3? It truly has been enjoyed by so many people. Especially those of us still salty about how the sequel trilogy ended.

Hey! Thank you so much, I really appreciate that. I'm definitely one of the salty people! Unfortunately the conclusion—which I'd hoped would enliven me to finish—sort of sucked all the wind out of my sails. The Last Jedi made me think I loved Star Wars for a few years but now I think I might just love Rian Johnson movies. That's not really to blame the conclusion for my unfinished fic... I just should never ever start multichapters while burning for something because eventually I run out of steam, and I hate disappointing people.

I don't think I'll ever finish Nemesis, or my two other unfinished multichapters for different fandoms. I'm really sorry about this. If it helps any I have an unfinished reylo beach volleyball AU (lol) that I have spared you from by not posting chapter one of the twoshot before it was finished. SO I HAVE RESTRAINT SOMETIMES... just not all the time.

So: no, unless something strange and wonderful happens. I'd love to have the time and energy for this, but it seems incredibly unlikely T_T Please love yourself and read other, better fics. Or imagine the ending you want! You deserve the SW conclusion of your dreams.

hi!! how are you?

Hello!! I've been scrolling through asks—mostly nice ones about fics and my writing—wondering how to answer them! Ever since I became aware I'd accumulated a lot of unanswered asks I've felt bad about not replying, but the longer you go saying nothing the harder it becomes to say something, since a pithy "thank you that's very nice" doesn't feel worth the wait... Tumblr doesn't help by not having timestamps, so I have no idea how late to the party I am. Which is to say, thank you for asking! Haha.

I'm doing pretty well, persistent world politics dread notwithstanding. For the past few years I've been focused on original writing, and it's going a lot better than it used to for lots of different reasons. How I felt while writing fic is a good guide for me; I used to write original like it was my cross to bear, and I had to learn to have fun with it instead. I still struggle to find that balance a bit, but I have lots of support from the people around me... many of whom I met right here!

Despite squirreling away some of my favourite people to live in my group chats and heart forever, I definitely miss being active in fandom. I miss you guys! I loved seeing all the creativity and feeling like part of a community. I had an amazing time while active. I think the "you ship/write/enjoy X so you must [deeply personal judgment]" attitude has become a bit too dominant for me to find the same outlet I once did, but mostly it just got easier to be myself privately. I'm naturally low energy... I need to conserve that little bit I have for actually doing stuff instead of wondering whether what I like makes me a bad person.

So that's where I'm at! I've been loving KJ Charles books (fave so far = The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting) and I space them out with other books so I won't run out too quickly. Mr. Fanmoments and our feline child are both doing well. c: Hope this overly long reply finds you and everyone reading well too!

That’s a lie, but it’s a lie watching Kaze makes you want to tell... Running anime was amazing! It took me a while to warm to it (the ensemble feel + not knowing Kakeru’s backstory made it hard for my usual main character stan preferences to kick in, which confused my feelings) but now I love it all the more for all the wonderful character dynamics. Kakeru’s blossoming nerd friendship with Prince, Musa and Shindou being more precious than precious, Yuki using his math skills to inspire, HAIJI AS AN ENTITY/FORCE OF NATURE...! 💘

Naturally I ended up shipping Kakehai. Who wouldn’t? 😄 Someone in our group chat recced this sexy but also VERY CUTE kakehai fic and I read it while I was out. 💕 I’m flattered you recognised me in the comments. Thank you so much for your kind words!

Every time I rewatch yoi I find new things to love about it. The gender fuckery, the interactions, imagining things from Viktor's perspective... It feels like there's something for everyone and it's such a passion project that it makes me really excited about storytelling in general 😭 I love to see stories with adults who are still confused by their place in things and learning/experiencing new things 💕

Novel? 👀👀👀

Yes! I have several novels in various states of done-ness (with form rejections for most and a personalised rejection letter for one—I’VE MADE IT!! kind of) but for the past year I’ve been working on a collaborative science fiction romance with @suggestivescribe. We started it last November as a National Novel Writing Month experiment and by the first half of 2018 we had a 200k word first draft and the dawning realisation that it needed to be two books rather than one. So we’ve edited the first half into one book and will have to edit the second half next! While shopping the first one out.

It’s set in our solar system about two centuries into the future, decades after a plague of extraterrestrial parasites has taken over most of humanity and all of Earth. A fleet of ships is headed back for another attempt to take Earth back, and the story revolves around two best friends on board one of the ships. Soldier trainee bestie has just failed his trial to get into the front lines (a fighting force that protects the fleet) and scientist bestie fucks up in her first onscreen moments by interviewing an infected person with such pizzazz she’s suspected of being a species traitor. Some elite soldiers enter the picture... hilarity trouble ensues... AND PEOPLE GROW AS PEOPLE WHILE FIGHTING ALIENS!! #inspirational

Mainly it’s an occasionally tragic romance/action/found family romp, and over the year of working on it (and through way-too-intense conversations with my beloved, hardass partner) I’ve rediscovered my love of original writing 😭 Which had been kind of lacking for a while. I even have playlists for the four main characters on spotify, and pinterest boards for my girls Sam (elite soldier) and Cass (scientist/human disaster). The romances in it are M/M and F/F, and romance publishing companies tend to favour M/F and M/M, but I was gonna die if I had to content myself with only ever writing M/F or M/M so we took the plunge anyway. 

Thank you for allowing me to ramble; I’m sure this is more than you asked for but I can’t help myself when it comes to my book baby with Scribe 😅 I still love fanfic and don’t intend to ever stop writing it, but now I get to have fun with my own babes as well :3c

A: How did you come up with the title to [insert fic]?

“Because people aren’t liquids they look for ways to flow” started off being called “because people aren’t liquids they look for ways to flow(bio)” but @reallycorking and @ellessey-writes (rightly) told me it was… maybe a bit inside-jokey. So I dialed myself down. (Only a little though.)

B: Any of your stories inspired by personal experience?

ONLY KIND OF… It’s more like, my personal experience dealing with and being a human comes through in stories.

O: How do you begin a story–with the plot, or the characters?

I’m working on changing how I work actually! I think I tend to start with a plot and then find characters for it in my original work, but this means that I end up with characters tailor-made to experience the plot rather than characters who are... well, characters. They turn out too much like me: too introspective, too aware/accepting of others, don’t really rush into things. It’s terrible protagonists central! So now I’m trying to make characters AND a plot and then fit them together, and in a lot of ways the worse they “fit” the better.

For fic it’s mainly “I want to see X type of interaction for this pairing” and then I write whatever I need to to get there 🙏
