Finally found my copy yesterday of “Witch of Kodakery” by Carole Glauber. The biography of Myra Albert Wiggins 1869-1956 touches on the history of women photographers in the Northwest as well, with just enough about Lily E. White and Sarah H. Ladd to make me plan a visit to the Oregon Historical Society to see more of their work. They would cruise up the Columbia River for weeks on a boat that had a darkroom, and made beautiful photographs. George Eastman purposely advertised to women as he knew they were not welcome in Museums and established Art Salons. Kodak’s 1899 catalog was “The Witchery of Kodakery”. @carole_glauber #writer #historian #women #photographer #photo #history #myrawiggins #lilywhite #sarahladd #northwest #colombia #river #photographers #oregon #washington #portland #seattle https://www.instagram.com/p/B446ClrnO6n/?igshid=i7n2n7kaficv
