Baseball started in Salinas in 1954 when the Salinas Packers played in Salinas until 1958, they were the Pirates affiliate in 1955 and the Milwaukee Braves affiliate from 1956-1958, Baseball made a return in Salinas in 1963 when the Salinas Mets played there from 1963-64 and became the Salinas Indians in 1965, the second incarnation of the Salinas Packers came in 1973-75 when they were the new affiliate of the California Angels and changed their name to Salinas Angels in 1976-1980. It's easy like Sunday morning... there's a couple of days left in the most extravagant giveaway in the history of caps from @hatclub #MiLBHatclub what does 160 caps of all the MiLB affiliated teams mean for me as a collector? Huge because it will automatically give me a complete set especially when that's how I collect caps and since my MiLB cap collection are old school caps and majority are no longer in existence the new set will give me the up to date complete collection, but again like in any other contest there will be a winner and there will be a loser, as my little nephew would say, "Don't feel bad it's not the end of the world" 🤣 The most important is we all have fun. Anyways, todays cap is... 🥁🥁🥁 1993-2004 Modesto A's Class-A Advanced California League Modesto won a total of 9 League Titles, started as an Independent team in 1946 as the Modesto Reds, not to be confused with the Cincinnati Reds because they were never an affiliate of the Major League club but "Reds" because it was a traditional name for Modesto Baseball who originally played in 1914-15 and reincarnated by the current Modesto club from 1946-1961, the team changed name to Modesto Colts in 1962-1964 when they were an affiliate of the Houston Colt 45's, they went back to being the Modesto Reds in 1966-1974 during that time they were affiliated with the KC A's (1966) and the St. Louis Cardinals (1967-1974), in 1975 they became the Modesto A's when they switched affiliation to the Oakland Athletics, sadly it ended in 2004 and in 2005 with the new affiliation with the Rockies the team changed it's name to Modesto Nuts, because of the several types of nuts that are grown in the region, the Rockies ended their affiliation in 2016 and the Seattle Mariners took over in 2017. Happy #FittedFriday Fam and It's down the stretch time for @hatclub contest #MiLBHatClub and today's post is... 1997 New Britain Rock Cats The Rock Cats were a Double-A team in the Eastern League located at New Britain, CT. The team started as the New Britain Red Sox from 1983-1994 when they were affiliated with the Boston Red Sox and changed name to Hardware City Rock Cats from 1995-1996 when they changed affiliations to the Minnesota Twins, the team change name in 1997 to New Britain Rock Cats, the Twins ended their affiliation in 2014 and the Rockies signed a 2 year deal starting in 2015, the team moved to nearby Hartford before the 2016 season becoming the Hartford Yard Goats. Notable Players that played in New Britain are Big Papi, Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau and Torii Hunter to name a few. It's #ThrowbackThursday and my #MiLBHatClub post. 1995 Wichita Wranglers The Wranglers were a Double-A team in the Texas League located in Wichita, KS and plays at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium (built in 1934), started as the Wichita Pilots in 1987-1988 they were the San Diego Padres affiliate from 1987-1994 and became the Kansas City Royals affiliate from 1995-2007, the team relocated to Springdale, Arkansas in 2008 and became the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. The Wranglers won 3 League Titles (1987, 1992, 1999), in 1995 Johnny Damon won the Player of the Year award and Alex Gordon won it in 2006, Andy Benes was the Pitcher of the Year in 1989. #ThrowbackThursday and today's My #MiLBHatClub post is...🥁🥁🥁 1995-2004 Charleston Alley Cats OG South Atlantic League Class A The history of Professional baseball in Charleston dates back to 1910 and the team known as tge Statesmen and the last team was the Charleston Charlies (1971) who left for Maine in 1983. But in 1987 baseball returned to Charleston, WV after a 3 year absence the new team was first called the Charleston Wheelers and began as a Co-op team of teams like the Dodgers, Whitesox, Cubs, Phillies and Braves, in 1988 it became the cubs affiliate and the Reds from 1990-1998, in 1993 the wheelers were purchased from then owner Dennis Bastien by a conglomerate of owners and the team changed its name to Charleston Alley Cats in 1995 and also switched colors. Today's #MyHatClub is the 1976 Chicago White Sox "Ice Cream Man" ✖ New Era 59Fifty Fitted. The Cap was only worn by the Sox for 7 games back in 1976. The Sox opened the season at home on Sept. 9, 1976 and went on a 7 game road trip with 2 games in Minnesota, 3 games in Boston and 2 against the Yankees in NY, and after a 3-4 road trip the white caps were banned by the American League because they said it was a distraction to hitters. 😁 The White Sox made a fashion splash in 1976 when they wore their infamous big collared V-neck pullover and bermuda short uniforms that will rival Nacho Libre's "Leisure" wear.
