The application of tried and true methods from a hundred years ago are hard to find in modern agriculture. We have had to adapt to changing demands and a progressing world. The innovations in agriculture allow us to feed and clothe more people than ever before and I’m thankful that we have such technology at our fingertips. But there will always be a place for tradition and nod to the past. I believe that as we go forward, we can look back with pride at our rich history. #mdita #mydayintexasag #texasagriculturematters (at Plains, Texas)

People say the cowboy is a dying breed. Well, they must have never been in West Texas because cowboys are alive and well! I’ve spent my whole life working on these crews, and to photograph these guys is such an honor. Each spring, all the cattle are gathered and the calves are worked. Some ranchers have adopted a system of chutes and alleys, but out here on the Llano Estacado, you can’t get any more efficient than dragging calves to the fire! #mdita #mydayintexasag #texasagriculturematters #igtexas (at Plains, Texas)

Coolest. Photoshoot. Ever. Texas farmers and ranchers often rely on other industries and occupations to help keep Texas agriculture a major player on the world stage. Last fall, I had the unique opportunity to photograph one of these industries. Father and son duo, Phillip and Cameron Kitten of Slaton, Texas, are spray plane pilots that area farmers rely on year round. Its men and women like these that help sustain Texas agriculture and our way of life. #mdita #mydayintexasag #texasagriculturematters #igtexas (at Slaton, Texas)
