Hi I can't get the idea of Cotesia molting out of my head— the particular notion that comes to mind is her skin growing harder and growing to look a little more like her kin as the time to split off the old shell comes. Maybe it's gotta be peeled to keep up the human appearance... (Maybe Cotesia will trust someone to help with it?)

I imagine Millicent would be the one to help her, after much consternation on Cotesia's part, desperately not wishing to give up the facade (even though Cotesia knows Millicent knows she is not human) until she finally is just So either in pain and/or immobilized by being trapped in her own skin. There might not be much Millicent can do perse, but Millicent is, if nothing else, very stubborn and unwilling to just let Cotesia curl up and die like that. Cotesia can't really shed without destroying the human simulacrum entirely so being forced to resign to the fact her human body, and all its given her, was finite and temporary--as ephemeral as the rest of her was--is indeed terrifying.
