Brian Laundrie committed suicide, according to an autopsy report.
Brian Laundrie committed suicide, according to an autopsy report. According to an autopsy report issued on Tuesday, Brian Laundrie, whose disappearance prompted a worldwide investigation in September when his girlfriend, Gabby Petito, went missing and was subsequently discovered slain, killed himself. Petito, 22, was found strangled to death on the outskirts of Wyoming's Grand Teton national park, where the couple had been travelling together in a van. Laundrie's remains were discovered in a Florida nature preserve last month, one month after Petito was found strangled to death on the outskirts of Wyoming's Grand Teton national park, where the couple had been travelling together in a van. After returning to his parents' house in Florida alone in early September and then disappearing, the 23-year-old was labelled a person of interest in the investigation. Petito's parents reported her missing three days before Laundrie's family said he left their North Port home with a bag but left his money and cellphone behind. Laundrie's skeleton remains were found in the marshy Myakkahatchee Creek environmental park, and the original coroner's report was ambiguous. After the bones were transferred to a forensic anthropologist, Steven Bertolino, attorney representing Laundrie's parents, said on Tuesday that they had gotten a more thorough report. more about Brian Laundrie : Brian Laundrie search results are updated in real time Human remains were discovered but were not identified. "Chris and Roberta are still grieving the death of their son and hope that these results will provide closure for both families," Bertolino added. Laundrie was never prosecuted in relation to Petito's death, but on September 24, a federal arrest warrant was issued by a Wyoming court after a grand jury indicted him for the unlawful use of a debit card that Petito's family claims was hers. FBI agents have been scrutinising objects discovered near Laundrie's death for evidence, including a water-damaged notepad. The FBI has yet to provide a comment on the investigation's progress. Petito's disappearance, as well as the search for Laundrie, who was documenting the couple's cross-country experiences on social media, drew national attention. Officers in Moab City, Utah, revealed body-cam video of them interacting with the couple after receiving a domestic violence complaint on August 12th. A sobbing Petito is heard in the film confessing the two had battled, with cops finally separating them for the night, with Laundrie fleeing to a hotel. Laundrie is heard telling the cops that they had "a slight skirmish" and that he did not want to pursue a domestic violence prosecution. The officers controversially judged that Petito was the aggressor. He adds, "I'm not going to pursue anything since she's my fiancée, and I love her." "It was simply a quarrel," says the narrator. "I'm sorry it had to come to this." It was the last time Laundrie and Petito were recorded together. The family refused to speak with detectives, according to North Port police investigating Laundrie's disappearance, which Bertolino later claimed was on his advice. There have been no charges filed in this case. Laundrie and Petito met as children on Long Island, New York, and then relocated to North Port, Florida, to live with Laundrie's parents, some 34 miles south of Sarasota. According to their social media accounts, they started their "van life" trip in July and plan to arrive in Oregon by Halloween. from new 24 hour: Brian Laundrie ‘s family won’t aid with FBI search, says Gabby Petito’s attorney. As he pursues Brian Laundrie, Dog the Bounty Hunter is pitching a new reality show, according to a report. Coroner: Gabby Petito died after being suffocated to death. WORLD NEWS
Syria: IS prison break sparks days of clashes (BBC)
“Intense fighting is taking place in north-eastern Syria after Islamic State (IS) fighters tried to break inmates out of a Kurdish-run prison. Kurdish-led forces backed by US air strikes have been battling militants in the city of Hasaka since Thursday. The assault on Ghwayran prison is one of the group's most ambitious since its defeat in Syria nearly three years ago. The overcrowded site houses 3,500 suspected IS members including some of its leaders, a monitoring group says.”
Burkina Faso: Heavy gunfire reported at military base (AP)
“Heavy gunfire rang out at a military base in Burkina Faso’s capital early Sunday, prompting fears that a coup attempt was underway after weeks of growing frustration with the government’s handling of the Islamic insurgency wracking the West African country. The mutinous soldiers seized control of the Lamizana Sangoule military barracks in Ouagadougou, the capital. The government put out a statement acknowledging gunfire in army barracks but denying an army takeover of the country.”
Brussels: Water cannon, tear gas at Covid protests (AP)
“Police fired water cannons and tear gas in Brussels on Sunday to disperse protesters marching against COVID-19 vaccinations and restrictions. The march followed demonstrations in other European capitals on Saturday that also drew thousands of people protesting vaccine passports and other requirements that European governments have imposed in hopes of ending the coronavirus pandemic.”

Opioid Crisis: Youth’s overdose death renews pleas for Narcan in schools (AP)
“The death of a 13-year-old student who apparently overdosed on fentanyl at his Connecticut school has drawn renewed pleas for schools to stock the opioid antidote naloxone, as well as for training of both staffers and children on how to recognize and respond to overdoses. The seventh grader was hospitalized Jan. 13 after falling ill at a Hartford school that did not have naloxone on hand. City officials vowed Wednesday to put the antidote in all city schools, as part of a wider drug use and overdose prevention strategy.”
Taxes: Taxpayers face overloaded IRS as filing season opens Monday (AP)
“An IRS worker shortage, an enormous workload from administering pandemic-related programs and stalled legislation that would have given the agency billions of dollars for more expeditiously processing returns will combine to cause taxpayers pain this filing season. Delays in processing are to be expected -- especially because the IRS says it still is working through 2020 tax returns. During the 2020 budget year, the IRS processed more than 240 million tax returns and issued roughly $736 billion in refunds, including $268 billion in stimulus payments, according to the latest IRS data. In that same time frame, 59.5 million people called or visited an IRS office.”
Gabby Petito: FBI says Brian Laundrie claimed responsibility for Gabby Petito’s death (CNN)
“Before taking his own life, Brian Laundrie wrote in a notebook he was responsible for Gabby Petito's death, according to the FBI. "A review of the notebook revealed written statements by Mr. Laundrie claiming responsibility for Ms. Petito's death," the FBI's Denver Field Office said in a statement released Friday. FBI: Brian Laundrie claimed responsibility for Gabby Petito's death
(CNN)Before taking his own life, Brian Laundrie wrote in a notebook he was responsible for Gabby Petito's death, according to the FBI.
"A review of the notebook revealed written statements by Mr. Laundrie claiming responsibility for Ms. Petito's death," the FBI's Denver Field Office said in a statement released Friday. The notebook was discovered in October, in the same area as Laundrie's remains, in Florida's Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, authorities said. A revolver was found nearby, the FBI stated. Petito's and Laundrie's families have reached an agreement on how the couple's belongings, including a notebook, will be distributed, Laundrie family attorney Steve Bertolino said Friday, about four months after Petito's remains were found in Wyoming. Laundrie had been the subject of a weekslong manhunt when his body was found. His family was informed he shot himself in the head, and his death was ruled a suicide, Bertolino said in November. Bertolino would not say which family will receive the notebook. The Petito family met with the FBI in Tampa, Florida, this week and reached an agreement on distributing her and Laundrie's belongings, he said before the FBI statement was released. The Petitos thanked the FBI for its support, according to a statement from the family's lawyer. "We truly appreciate the FBI's diligent and painstaking efforts in this extremely complicated case. The quality and quantity of the facts and information collected by the FBI leave no doubt (that) Brian Laundrie murdered Gabby," it said. The FBI said Friday its investigation into the death "will be closed in the near future." "All logical investigative steps have been concluded in this case," FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Michael Schneider said. "The investigation did not identify any other individuals other than Brian Laundrie directly involved in the tragic death of Gabby Petito." สล็อต pg
