The Star Nomad - Animated with After Effects!

I recently finished the online master’s program in art and technology, and I’ve been having fun with with an Adobe software I used for some of my projects called After Effects.

While Disney has long denied WOY its third and final season, my determination to make it a reality persists. Neither Mercury Filmworks nor Boulder Media got the opportunity to animate the Star Nomad, so I thought I’d do it myself.

Using a previous file I made on Illustrator, I took the graphic of the ship, split some of it into layers, saved it as a PDF, imported the PDF into After Effects, and animated components that needed to move to create the illusion of flight.

Definitely a step up from the microgame I made on WarioWare: DIY, which I feel is now outdated, considering Craig McCracken implied that the Skullship wouldn’t be in flight throughout S3. The reason I added text to the video is that I didn’t want other fans to mistake it for the real thing.

Every person who’s ever worked on the show MUST see this.

Send Me a Character!

First impression Loved the guy, he's the king of catchiness in WarioWare. His family is neat too. ...I am confused at child me being obsessed with the guy's levels in both Touched and DIY but NEVER drawing the fellow himself.

Impression now I still love him, but well...it's not a fixation love. He has bigger fans and generally I think of him and them favorably. I like thinking about his chill side these days, which was his mojo back then. But man...me and a friend made cursed memes with him too. We love Jimothy Thang.

Favorite moment Watching his butt groove in Body Rock. Him bonding with the Cat dancers in Smooth Moves. The umbrella in the rain thing is stinking cute. I love it when he's sweet on kitties.

Idea for a story Him offering Ana ear plugs when she gets overstimulated by the club music and crowds. He privately confesses to her that the ear covering he wears are able to reduce noise when needed. He also knows she's not good with headphones, hence the plugs.

Unpopular opinion ...idk. I haven't heard a lot of Jimbit opinions. I do think he should have more fanart, any kind. Maybe he should also have dudes in his posse of ladies. Trying not to stick my nose into y'alls business. Also I vibe with him being trans. It's just not my default thought when it comes to him. This also applies to Penny too.

Favorite relationship Him and Joe make an interesting team. As an ambivert, I can relate to Jimmy coming out of his shell to drag Joe out of...well Joe's shell. Both are naturally shy, but can pull off a huge bravado of a personality when they feel like it. At least...that'll be my explanation on why both of them kinda "swapped" the 'verts. They just have both.

Favorite headcanon He gave the twins the cat plushies seen in Laundry Day the gold microgame version. Dribble might've made them though. Or maybe Jimmy sews...it's a mystery.

I just wanna say, your characterizations of the entire WarioWare crew is absolute Gold! Seriously, anytime I see your drawings, they never fail to brighten my day, and make me feel better if I was feeling down. Also, Wario definitely still has his pet chicken with him and I won’t hear otherwise.

Aww thank you!!  I'm genuinely touched, I love those mega microgames so much so I'm glad you don't think I got their characters twisted.  (I wouldn't have snapped if you told me that but I might have needed a sec to get it together.) I love making what are essentially DIY cutscenes for this game, and wario and his friends are so delightful to write for. Their smooth moves inspire me to move it myself and draw as much of them as I can, so it always makes my day when people tell me that my art brings them joy! Thank you!

OMG, YES?!?!? Gonna add that one to my list of indies sometime! Looks very Psychonauts-esque, too; I know someone who'd love that!

Anyways, yes, I also love WarioWare games, and they have been a part of my life since I was a child. I still play the first one to this day!

And yes, I know, we all want Wario Land to make an official comeback, but WarioWare games also have that unique and quirky charm of utilizing the console's mechanics in its gameplay (or maybe it's just because I'm a chill girl who's always looking on the bright side with two successful Wario-like indies to sustain her for years). When I say that Wario is Nintendo's most experimental character in Mario's extended universe, this is what I mean.

It's shocking to me that with how many microgames that utilize screen-touching/dragging mechanics, there isn't a game app for Android and iOS for people to kill time with on the go... plus, gacha mechanics and in-app purchases! Come on, Nintendo isn't properly channelling Wario's greed with an opportunity like that...

I also wish I had a friend group as extensively quirky as Wario's in real life, too. It's a miracle that someone like him has friends, considering how often his greedy tendencies get in the way of things...

Also, did you know that Louie Zong made a whole album with WarioWare DIY? It's honestly baffling to me that Nintendo didn't called them yet to compose music like what they've done with Toby Fox!

I'll be honest, this was the ONLY good thing that came out of WarioWare DIY, because I'll NEVER forgive the people who've made lewd microgames in it. Like, not to sound like a puritan, but were those folks out of their minds? It's NINTENDO, a company with the reputation of being (mostly) child/family-friendly! Couldn't you have done a separate indie like everyone else nowadays?

Help me decide what to stream for my birthday!

This Saturday I'll be doing a big birthday bash stream, and while I have tons of ideas, I only have so many hours in the day to stream them – and only a week to prepare!

Help me out by picking an option from the poll at the bottom: What would you be most interested in seeing this weekend? Read on and I'll explain our options...

All of my ideas loosely fall into three categories – I could play something multiplayer with friends, I could reminisce on old levels and creations I made long ago, or I could stream something that's a completely new and unique experience. Out of those categories, I've got five standout ideas:

New: Fortune Cookie - If you've ever watched ProtonJon stream, you know what this is. I've collected my entire game library on Backloggery and we'll choose 3-5 random games, then chat votes on which one they want to see. I'll play each game for about half an hour before we pick another set of games for another chat vote. Rinse and repeat! 🥠

Reminisce: WarioWare DIY Showcase - "Showcase" is the WiiWare version of DIY... and I've never played it! This would be a hybrid of new and old, where I'd try out all of the microgames I've never played before, as well as importing and showcasing all of my old microgames from DIY on the DS. Did you know DIY is the game that got me into programming? 👩‍💻

Reminisce: Zeta - At this point I've streamed all of my old Mari0 level packs, except one: Zeta, which was supposed to be the magnum opus of my early Mari0 days. It sits about halfway between New Super Mario World and Retrush in terms of quality, scope, and ideas. Should be a LOT of fun to unpack after ten years~ 🌅

Multiplayer: Tabletop Simulator / Cardé - I made a board game when I was twelve years old that's essentially "extreme chutes and ladders," a race around the board trying to get chain reactions of movement. This would be a hybrid of reminiscing and multiplayer, since I would get to recreate it in Tabletop Simulator... and subject my friends to it! 🎲

Multiplayer: Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed - Transformed is genuinely one of my favorite kart racers of all time, right next to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I've been dying to play it with friends for a while now – it would make for an excellent birthday party game! I'd have to check in on who owns it and wants to play, but otherwise, it'd be the easiest to set up. 🏎️

5. hmmm. its hard to think of my favorites off the top of my head but i really like rainbow juice, the gold version of stumblebot, and poseidon. my least favorite is probably global warning

1. Warioware DIY Showcase- did the 4 main microgame complications no high scores

2. Harvest Moon Friends Of Mineral Town- saw Elli and Anne's black heart events, foraged, played the harvest goddess new years mini game, gave presents to Elli, Anne, and the Harvest Goddess, took care of my puppy, and chopped wood and smashed stones

3. Harvest Moon More Friends of Mineral Town- gave presents to the Harvest Goddess, Cliff and Doctor, foraged and shipped items, and played the Harvest Goddess new years mini game

4. Pokemon Mystery dungeon explorers of the sky- game over on level 5 of mt.bristle

Nintendo Gamecube

1. Super Mario Sunshine- got the second shine in bianca village by beating Petey Pirahnna

2. Luigi's Mansion- beat the boss ghost chauncy the spoiled baby and captured him completing area 1 of the game

3. Paper Mario 2- beat the monsters in and outside of skeonks fortress, intentionally got it wrong, got baraged by clefts, killed them with a pow block, beat a fuzzy, collected tattles for half clefts, clefts, bristles, and fuzzies, and leveled up, chose FP, and saved

4. Warioworld- got an opal in excitement central greenhorn forest and saved

5. Harvest Moon Magical Melody- got the limitation note and the first shipping note, planted some turnips, shipped some ore in the mine, and gave presents to Nina, Joe, and Kurt

Nintendo Gameboy Pocket

1. Pokemon Creepy Black- delivered oaks parcel, beat blue, got some poke balls and antidotes, caught a Rattata and added data for Rattata to the Pokedex

WarioWare Fan Ask Game!

1. What WarioWare games have you played? (And do you have favorites?)

Well it started with WarioWare Touched, which I was very fixated on despite the fact I never drew fanart of it as a child. (This also goes for Trace Memory/Another Code that I also loved. I know, shameful. Was an absolute fanatic for Ouendan/EBA though) Then I got to buy DIY which was a good time but now I am the sads because I cannot find my copy of it. Then years later I played Gold which really blasted the WarioWare fixation, and bought Smooth Moves around that time. Played some Smooth Moves, though I need to complete it. Tried out Snapped. Bought Get it Together and Move It! because of the fixation, and Switch Online let me play Mega Microgames. I just bought Mega Party Games and realized I have no memory card to store the game data on. Drats. Oh and I bought Game & Wario before the eshop closed, but haven't gotten to playing that. So that and Twisted are the only games I haven't touched.

6. Are there any songs from WarioWare you listen to often?

Would you believe me that I sang Body Rock in a public karaoke event? Sorry you ain't gonna see that because I'm not doxxing myself.

Anyways, yes Body Rock is at least a monthly listen. Though due to using Move It! as a exercise tool, I've been subjected to Megagame Muscles on a near daily basis. That is a silly song.

4. Do you have any personal headcanons or interpretations of the characters? (In relation to design, hobbies, connections to other characters, etc)

I have lots from 6-ish years of this fixation. I hope these headcanons are tasty.

Mona's pets do have their own rooms in the mansion. But the twins' animal buddies don't live in their house. They come and go as they please. ...Also Ana was upset with Kat for forgetting Don.

The ninjas in yellow are the twins' ninja classmates. They are a bit bigger than what the game portrays them to be due to sprite limitations, and they are all older than the kindergartners. The yellow uniforms are the unfortunate standard uniform for rookie Iga clan students. Kat and Ana usually don't wear that uniform except for when they are attending ninja classes. The whole Boneheads scenario was in the middle of the night and only the twins had unique outfits at that point. Also the classmates don't exactly like the twins for Kat and Ana are little but excel in ninjutsu. Plus Ana led them to failure in that boneheads thing...I don't think we're gonna be forgetting that but please understand she is still powerful in her own right.

Totally stealing your idea that Mona and Orb are weird besties. It just sounds nice. Mona gets to teach Orb all the strangeness of humanity and Orb gets to share alien stuff sparingly.

Kat and Ana were friends with Ruffington before Lulu came along. They're still friends but Kat gets miffed that Ruffington chose to go with Lulu. Kat and Lulu have stuff to bicker about, which does include the matter of who Ana hangs around with.

Leo is a smidge older than the twins, like he's 6 and they just turned 5. I admit I am fond of the headcanon that Leo crushes on Ana. I just think he doesn't understand those feelings now and absolutely fails in getting those feelings out by being a bully to the twins. He does understand those feelings better as a teen...It's just that Ana doesn't return the feelings due to the bullying, and not having the same lovey feelings towards him. I kinda want to say the situation is similar to how in Spy x Family, Damien has a crush on Anya, doesn't get it, bullies Anya, and Anya's oblivious to his true feelings despite being a mind reader. In this case, Ana ain't a mind reader and I don't like indulging the whole "he bullies you because he likes you" sort of deal.

5-Volt practically has to act as the parent to the youth of WarioWare due to most of them lacking consistently present parental figures. Mona's parents are often working far from home, Ashley's parents practically abandoned her, 18-Volt's mum (and probs dad by extension) are hands off but still loving, and the twins' parents expect too much out of their toddler daughters by having them live on their own and be professional ninjas. But they visit sometime. Most of the time though, it's 5-Volt (and sometimes Crygor, Mantis, and the cabbies) who step up in being the parents for parenting stuff like meetings, signatures, or parent and kid events. Honestly it seem that only 9-Volt and Penny have consistent parenting...but the other kids just like having the WarioWare crew be their family. The whole crew is just a mixed up, loving family.

Dribble is the sort of guy who takes a bath every few days while Spitz, as canon states, bathes twice daily. They do not argue over this. Also Dribble is like in his late 20s-early 30s, while Spitz is around his mid to late 30s. I like joking that Dribble could be 28 because of a video I want to make a WarioWare parody out of. But I have to be mindful of the fact that Dribble did teach Wario how to drive...can an 18 year old teach a 15 year old how to drive? ...actually it's possible: this is the world (next to) where babies can drive violently in go karts.

Omni Nom is a friend of Orbulon, not a pet. They both have something to ride on/in. Alien variety can be weird.

I have headcanons found on the cautiouslittleninja ask blog I occasionally return to. Some of them may be outdated by now though. Highlights that I like include Ana having her own secret spots that only she and her animal friends know about, Ana being noted to have eaten mud (and possibly crayons), and Ana is terrified of the concept of Mario due to Wario's tales. 9-Volt's games are about possibly fictitious (to them) tales, so she can't take his word for what a swell fellow Mario is. Just please note I currently do think Ana is plenty powerful in ninjutsu and stuff, it's just the confidence issues and relying a lot on Kat that's a problem.

In speaking of fanmade Ana stuff, I hope to return to writing more entries for the Ana's Diary thing. Yes she kept a diary after the whole blogging thing in the first game. It's a lot less formal compared to the online diary. Kat probably had a peek in there.

Wario still has Hen and he lets the twins care for her from time to time.

Vanessa and Leo would be a formidable duo due to grudges against some of the WarioWare crew but age differences and snobby attitudes might lead to trouble.

I once thought that Cicada wanted to just focus on regular schooling which was why she vanished between rhythm heaven and move it, but it turns out she was training this whole time. I like thinking she's related to Munchy Monk and stuck with him for training. They used to ride trains together.

I feel like I still have more but at this rate I could be talking too much. I hope these are ok.

I did! I still play warioware diy. Currently i am making a game called "make orbulon burger". But i put it on a shelf to rot and dust so we may never see it again.
