The horse market in my area is wild. I could buy a halter-broke 10 yr old mustang for $8500. Or a fully-finished and gait-trained 8 yr old Icelandic gelding for $8000. Or an 8 yr old OTTB who has gone over one (1) fence for $20000.

#my two favorite trainers have horses in my theoretical price range right now and i think either one would be perfect for me 🥺#obviously not in the cards right now. but I'm allowed to dream still #anyway i was looking around to see if there were any reasonably priced mustangs around #bc i dream of starting my own but realistically i don't have the facilities or the health even if i have the skills #but i didn't find a single one under $5k #and if I'm gonna have to spend that kinda money AND train it then i at least want it to be gaited #my brain is not being smart tho bc I'm like. well if I'm gonna spend $6k on medical bills this year then i can definitely spend $8k #on a horse #i think the logic is that if I'm spending that much on something I don't want then i should get to spend that much on something i do want #doesn't actually make my bank account reflect that belief tho
