another thing headcannon about george from merlin

so the ONE episode he was in was bc merlin wasn't there for an extended period of time and someone had to take care of king arthur.

since the servants all know merlin is the only one the king doesn't hate being woken up by, they all draw straws and see who gets the honorable but terrible position of tending to the king.

george happens to be the unlucky one of the day, and is prepared to meet his fate, and starts walking to the kings chambers but is stopped by a group of servants looking for him

they hand him merlins clothes

to dress up in and pretend to be merlin

to trick the king's mind into not hating whoever wakes him up bc its in fact not merlin

and thats my theory of why george looked like merlin in that one episode
