So I’m terms of playing in the actual party 24/7, it’s Astarion. Stealth, pick pocketing, amazing banter, will never not be in the party.

In terms of making sure I recruit them because I love them to death, it’s Halsin. I love him so much but after 5 runs I genuinely cannot make a build for him where he is super useful in battle, but I will never not recruit (or romance) him. I did keep him in the party at all times when I did the solo romance but I could never get him to be super strong. I love druids, I just don’t know how to make a good druid build though.
