3) A Foreign-Language Movie: Midori

Right, so, I'm not posting the link to the remaster/fancut because 1) I think anyone watching it should do their homework first, 2) due to the transgressive elements I don't want the upload brigaded, and 3) despite all pleading not to, I have no doubt kids read my blog. It's out there, you can find it. IT'S STRONG FUCKING STUFF. Recommended for the Dead Dove: Do Eat crowd (you have to eat it, it's a sideshow!).

I'm gonna be real, this was a 2009 movie I saw in Hawaii off of Netflix......*DVD Netflix*. This came in a little envelope. I watched it. I mailed it back. Good times. Old times. Old old times.

So, like, I remember really liking it, and I checked the wiki and I think the story remains interesting, and the presentation is Special. I suggested it to you in the day and bring it up every now and then. It's kinda pithy, but I respect its moxie and I think you'd enjoy hating it if nothing else.

14) A Fantasy Movie: Puss in Boots: The Last Wish

(Specifically, Dreamworks has surpassed Disney at this point in animation and storytelling, and you can see them gearing up for the Shrek 5 war, but also. It deserves it, is why, goddamn.)

We have this free for the rest of the month (or however long I decide to keep Peacock, I'm binging House), you wanna maybe do this on a weekend? Cool if not! Could be a good birthday watch tbh, hmu, lmk, omgwtfbqqroflcopter. Has an orang kitty ALL THE TIME. Except when not.

18) An Animated Movie: My Neighbors the Yamadas

My Neighbors the Yamadas gets passed by constantly in the Studio Ghibli family. It's not hard to see why, it's completely off-model--the animation is no less beautiful, but it's simple and accessible, and instead of being a fantasy story, it's a series of vignettes around one family.

But it's an extraordinary family! Yamadas bursts with Ghibli charm, and it leaves you with that soul-cleansed feeling afterward, that you've been a part of something worth being part of.

Moum and I watched this together in the day (Netflix DVD era, summer, not college) and it was just...cozy. This is the Ghibli movie for cozy-gamers, and for families. Not "for family entertainment", very often a cold and lousy thing, but for, comma, families.

Also, there's cake!

20) A Musical: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang......?

This is all one movie, Mike. ...apparently.

So, like, I didn't have a lot for musicals. I feel like if anyone, including me, remembers this movie, it's by the Child Catcher, who literally lures children into a truck with candy. That having been said, there's a *lot* more weirdness to this thing I have apparently totally forgotten, plus Dick van Dyke Dick van Dyking it up, so, like, can't go wrong on those parameters.

Plus, Mom was always singing just the one bit of the one song:
