finally doing a pinned!! 📍
You can call me Sylvie! Or "that one guy who really likes dragonspyre", whatever you can come up with. Drake or Draco are cool too.
Any pronouns r fine, no specific preference. Gender isn't real.
This is one of my many sideblogs I keep my interests to, so if I have a long period of inactivity on here that probably means my hyperfixation has swapped! I'll be back one day though - consider that a threat.
dms and asks are always open even if you just wanna chat!! i'll try to get to them asap, feel free to tag me in things and toss ask games into my askbox, don't be afraid about spamming as I love seeing numbers get big
I have a strangely large collection of pets so if you need a lend for your tome or need a pet body, feel free to hmu!
i have some pets with damage/resist talents i'd be happy to lend if you need to work on a "proper meta" pet! (balance, death and storm atm - working on the other schools slowly)
if you get stuck on any bosses i’d be happy to try and help, i have two maxes so let me know if you'd rather i play support or hit for you
this will be updated as I think of more things to add!
─ ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ ──── 🐉 ─── ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ ──
tag guide:
#questlog ;; posts i make as part of my questing experience on any of my wizards
#oc: [name] ;; replacing [name] with the characters name, mostly just a collection tag for that specific oc
#offtopic ;; self-explanatory, not usually wiz related
─ ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ ──── 🐉 ─── ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ ──
Under the read more is my ingame character list if you wanna ask me about them! I just put the quick jist of information. I have a document that goes more in-depth about their personality, backstory and appearance + various trivia alongside more wiz and pirate related characters etc that reside in the same universe. (If you wish to see the document... you must answer my riddles three...)
In-game character list:
Wizard101
⚖️ Alicia DragonHeart, Sorcerer - main!
Lady of the Falling Sky / Divine Paradox
Any Pronouns
Formerly human, now full Draconian/Dragon Titan on account of The Curse and untrained polymorphing.
💀 Destiny NightStalker, Necromancer
Phantom's Menace / Undead Executioner
Token Transmasc, he/they/it
It's hard to tell whether he's human, part undead or potentially a wraith but one thing for sure is despite all odds he's still kicking.
⛈️ Rika TempestSurge, Diviner - current questing character in Mirage
Stormbreaker / Champion of Stars and Tides
She/they/it/xe
Kraken
🍀 Sierra LifeBloom, Theurgist
Ward against Blight / Scion of Bartleby
She/they/fae
Forest Fairy
Raised by polyamorous female dryads deep in the Avalon forest
🔥 Kestrel SunPyre, Pyromancer
Fire Starter / Harbringer of Daylight
She/they
Might be part cat? Thinking about it
Adopted by middle-class Marleybonians dogs
❄️ Holly GrimTundra, Thaumaturge
Valiant of the Sunless Shrine
She/they
⚠️ Morgan LegendHunter, Conjurer - I plan to quest on them when the Krokotopia graphic revamp hits live
Victor of Kan Davasi / Cipher of Lost Glyphs
Three-eyed Cyclops
They/them. Gets called "she" or "he" rather often and typically just responds with a tired sigh.
Pirate101
Cecilia Silver, Witchdoctor - main
Has the same first name as my Sorcerer in-game, but lore and character-wise I refer to her as Cecilia to help separate them
She/xe/they
Merciless Faith, Swashbuckler
She/they
Two-faced Harmony, Buccaneer
He/she
My Privateer and Musketeer will be added whenever I get around to making them, which might be a while since I don't play pirate as much as I do wiz and typically only play during the free weeks. I can only afford one membership at a time because of the ridiculous prices :(

OBDSTAR DC706 Unbiased Customer Reviews
As we know, OBDSTAR DC706 ECU programmer is designed for vehicle ECM, TCM and body/other system for ECU flasher. It can read ECU info, R/W Eeprom/Dflash/Pflash/MAP, reset ECU (Virgin), calibrate mileage, read IMMO pincode, and recover ECU, etc via OBD and bench. What is the actual use effect? Let’s see the related customer reviews.
Review 1:
Tool arrived. All work fine!!! Cadillac 6L45 TCM clone ok. GM Acdelco E39a clone ok.
Review 2:
GM TCM T87 and T87 you can do it yourself, full reading and writing. That was only available for flex, B-flash. Now i finished it with dc706. Amazing!
Review 3:
The DC706 is a good tool especially for the money. It is a bit clunky to work with the files. Otherwise, it’s a very formidable tool. We use it often on the DPS6 Ford TCMs as it is easy to connect when working mobile.
Review 4:
9GV OBDSTAR reading fine with everything included nothing separate!!! Very good device!
Review 5:
Audi Temic VL381 0AW gearbox clone ok. The dc706 obdstar did it perfectly. Not everything is flex or dim. And not fc200 either.
Review 6:
Fiat IAW 9gv is done, same as IO terminal without opening it. Amazing!
Review 7:
OBDSTAR DC706 is a good tool for PSA whatever.
Review 8:
The first test was a Guzzi miu g4 motorcycle engine control module on bench.
Review 9:
DC706 for the win on 2016 Chevrolet Colorado BCM. D70F3558/24c66.
Review 10:
Tested on DQ250 02E year 2016, two DQ200 2010 and 2012.
All works perfect, highly recommended!
Review 11:
I picked up this tool a few weeks ago and have spent some time testing its capabilities. The DC706 is a tablet based ECM, TCM, and BCM cloning tool, advertised as being able to read and write memory areas (eeprom, D-Flash, P-Flash) of supported control units, as well as some pin code extraction, all through OBD or bench mode (mostly bench).
The tool this most closely resembles is IO Terminal. I am not labeling this as comparison because I have never used IO Terminal, nor do I wish to open a debate on who cracks or pirates who's software, that's above my pay grade. I'll stop short of calling this a review, because I haven't fixed any cars with it yet, I've only tested it on various modules.
I had been considering the purchase of IO Terminal for some time for in house use. As an independent repair facility, where I see the benefit of this type of tool would mostly be on the GM global A stuff, TCM's in particular. As we all know, GM's transmissions are a weak link. One of the running jokes in the shop when a 6L80 equipped GM is towed into the shop… is it here for its 100,000 mile transmission replacement? Thus far we have been able to sell a factory or Jasper remanufactured transmission only requiring SPS2 programming. But as these vehicles age I envision used replacements will become an option for some based upon financial means and vehicle depreciation. Also in today's world of hit and miss module availability, this type of tool can provide another option. Tooling and software from Kess V2, Flex, PCMflash and the like are not financially practical for sporadic in house use, and I'm not likely to market module cloning as a sublet service anytime soon. The cost of IO terminal hardware and the various software packages can add up and has kept me on the fence about purchasing it, unsure of the return on investment.
I saw this dc706 ecu tool from OBDStar and it seemed intriguing. OBDStar makes some immobilizer and odometer correction tools, as well as motorcycle and marine scan tools. This new tool offered from OBDStar and has been on the market for about 6 months.
Checking the module coverage list it was pretty much identical to IO Terminal. The price point was good at about $1,400 for the full software version (ECM, TCM, and Body/other) plus another $100 for their P003 adapter for certain modules. It seems like the subscription fee will be a couple of hundred dollars a year to keep it current. So I decided to roll the dice and give it a try.
The first thing I noticed after activation of the tool was a version update that now includes ZF 8HP TCM's on all makes, including Dodge and GPEC-4 PCM's in boot mode. In addition, I turned the tool on a few days ago to discover another update that amongst other things included GPEC-2, 2A, and 3 PCM's. It's encouraging to see regular updates and expanded coverage.
I gathered a bunch of modules to test: E39A and E92 GM PCM's, 2 FCA RF Hubs, a Ford continental BCM, a GM Bosch BCM, and a GPEC-2 PCM. Guide and pin out diagrams are clear and accurate. Performed all reading and writing on all of these modules easily and successfully. VIN's were visible on eeprom and d-flash sectors, as well as pin codes.
Deciphering some of the verbage while using can be a challenge, but already having Chinese tablet based scan tools from Launch, Autel, and Topdon, I consider Chinenglish a second language. An example of this in photo number 2 while reading a GM Bosch BCM in bench mode, it gave me pause when I first saw it, but I speculate it was telling me not to wake up the BCM with ignition source voltage during read and write operations. I proceeded and successfully read and write the BCM.
No tool like OBDSTAR DC706 ECU tool perfect, I'm sure holes and flaws will be discovered, but at this point my confidence level is pretty high. I just hope it comes through when I need to use it “for real”.
I wanted to share this for those who maybe in a similar situation, it may be worth considering this tool.
Thanks to all customers’ feedback above!

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Pre-Orders
So Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is coming out in November, and for those who like Pokemon, and its all super confusing, there are multiple options for a pre-order, but instead of like, 3 or 4 different options, there are like, 2 options and the rest are essentially useless
Ignore the fact that its the double pack, its essentially the same with the normal games, also just so you know, the special flying terrestrial type pikachu inst a pre-order bonus, its an early buyer bonus
This is the pre-order bonus for the Pokemon center, not even the first place you would get sent to if you clicked on the "pre-order" button on the promotional website for the game it fucking self, its stupid, what you get for pre-ordering it here, you get a bag that is currently out of season, like bro, Pokemon Sun and Moon called, and they want their bag back... this is the version I ordered, I like the bag, and i dont want any of the other bonuses
This is what you get for buying Pokemon scarlet and/or violet digitally, the reason on why i added "And/Or" is because they don't list this on the god damn website, and the online Nintendo-shop for the duel pack! All thats listed is "You will get 200 Pokeballs and a special pikachu!" but this could be just the bonus for getting the duel pack, but still, its confusing, but lets say who ever pre-orders this is new to Pokemon, and they need a kick start to start the game... Why would they pre-order a game series that they have never played. Even if you are a parent, you will not keep up to date with Nintendo news unless you are also active in Nintendo games. I do not get this, so overall, this pre-order sucks, and I would personally say that this is one of the best ones.
Here is the amazon pre-order, the one that the internet flamed to all hell and back for a good while. I'm pretty sure if you use Tumblr or R/Tumblr, you've seen these 23 items be compared to loose change, lint, and string respectively, which makes sense, as within an hour into the game, 20 of those items becomes worthless, as you will be getting a better option fairly quickly, which is after you beat the first gym, and if you are pre-ordering the game, its expected you have some skills at Pokemon that isn't "Hey, this move did not deal any damage, but played an animation of arrows going down on the enemy... I'm going to do it again". This is an insult.
OK, so you know on how I said that there was only 2 good options... I was wrong, as this is a genuinely decent option, and an amazing incentive for Pokemon fans to buy at game-stop, and to be honest, this was a great contender, but in the end, you will see these pins on eBay at a reasonable price within a month, so I stuck with the Pokemon center
Hey look, its best-buy's pre-order bonus... This bonus is only useful to one section of the fan-base... competitive players, as they could genuinely use these berries maybe in comp, or for Ev training, or whatever, but to anyone else, this deal sucks, when was the last time you used berries in a Pokemon game besides sword and shields camp mini-game. Its a thoughtful idea, but in my opinion, these are also common berries, so you will get these early on in the game, and they sell for like, 60g.
Now, these are all the pre-order bonuses... IN AMERICA. Thats right, everywhere else is getting diffrent pre-order bonuses, and I'm not putting all the images in here, but there is apparently a little stand you could get featuring the 3 starters, other parts of the world is getting a steel casing for the 2 games in the duel pack, (and maybe in the normal packs, altho idk about this part) some is giving out a new Pokemon card not revolving around the new Pokemons, but having them guest star along side Pokemon like pikachu, one gives you a "BALLS" pack, which gives you a set of balls, like 1 luxury, 1 friend, etc, and one pack will give you the friendship pack which has "10 friend balls, 1 soothing bell" and not to mention,
ONE PLACE IS GETTING GOD FUCKING DAMN ART BOOKS FOR FUCKING PRE-ORDERING THE DOUBLE PACKS
and well you see, that is why i think Nintendo hates America, as we are getting nothing, and everywhere else is getting god-like gifts... maybe its all the pirating their games that makes them hate us...(This is a joke BTW)
So anyways, there is one more option you could have for getting Pokemon scarlet and violet... Its getting the new special edition OLED switch, which will not give you the new Pokemon games... and is also only available in Europe right now
So anyways, I have no idea how to end this off so Imma just going to say something about this thing that I currently have, its not going to be used that much, I just wanted to rant about Pokemon and I feel like having a space would be nice to rant on.

What's The Best Golf Rangefinder?
Times have moved on swiftly for the reason that mathematically testing days and years where we paced off yardages. As for the opposite drawbacks, we found that the slope characteristic might not be authorized for some tournaments so this could be a significant deal-breaker for some golfers. Moreover the essential ones, it is best to think about ones which have superior options just like the Jolt Expertise, ESP.
Small, lightweight gadget additionally features 6x magnification and a 24-mm objective. The Pinseeker JOLT know-how ensures that customers know that they have shot' the pin accurately thus giving them confidence in their chosen distance. Rangefinders are also known as distance finders , are your irreplaceable best buddy on the market at the golf course.
You'd anticipate the perfect golf rangefinder to supply tremendous accuracy, and the X2 has lots with a range of 5 - 1300 yards and accuracy ranging to ½ a yard. Supply precise measurements: The invention of laser golf rangefinder has paved the way in which for taking part in better golf video games in that it provides increased accuracy in relation to measuring distance, a company that evaluates golf rangefinders.
Whether you're an novice or professional, these golf laser rangefinders will undoubtedly meet your wants. That's the place we are available. Our research team took on the green conducting 20 golf rangefinder evaluations. However if you want to use the rangefinder for different out of doors actions like looking, 1,000 yards is likely to be an amazing function to have.
youtube
Rangefinders claim to be able to shoot a thousand yards however it's not lifelike since the magnification is not robust enough for you to see a target that far. Acquire knowledge of the yardage for any membership: Some golf players find the rangefinder to have very helpful help notably after they should do a challenging golf shot, for example in front of a bunker or over the water.
My identify is Barney, and I wish to share with you what I have realized about golf rangefinders. These brands not only produce the most rangefinders however consultants and players seem to agree that they have one of the best out there.
Battery Life: Golf rangefinders run on batteries. You've the flexibility to range to any goal and get distances yourself, within, give or take, one yard accuracy with most typical laser rangefinders. There are rangefinders, which have the flexibility to close down this function in a match.
It is also one of the extra reasonably priced rangefinders which you can use not solely on the golf course but also open air, like if you find yourself hunting. With its 6x magnification, the rangefinder will make it lots straightforward for you to find the target that you simply wish to measure.
The Bushnell Tour V4 Shift is Bushnell's response to the 2016 USGA and R&A local rule change that allows rangefinders with Slope to be used as long as Slope mode is disabled. Once you are comfy with utilizing your rangefinder, you must be capable to receive a distance to the pin or another object in just a matter of seconds.
Now that you understand how to decide on one of the best golf rangefinder for you, you have to go a step forward and know how to choose the perfect golf rangefinder. For leisure golfers, there's loads of worth in a slope feature (it also has the potential to maneuver them alongside for the rest of us).
The GX-5i3 of Leupold has a function referred to as True Golf Range (TGR), which is essentially the brand's own tackle slope expertise. The Leupold GX-4i2 laser rangefinder has a spread of as much as 700 yards and is accurate inside 0.5 yards. All rangefinder units use high-frequency lasers to supply line-of-sight yardage to the pin or target.
There are basically two forms of rangefinders accessible available in the market, GPS guided and laser golf rangefinders. The pinseek function isn't great however is extra correct than using a GPS and eyeballing it. The pricing of a rangefinder will depend on brand, fashions and options.
You probably have ever planned your trip beforehand on Bing maps or utilizing the dashboard pc in your automobile, you will simply see how comparable the GPS-based rangefinder is in its principle of operation. Routinely, the distances learn out begin streaming in on the laser LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY display.
When you get used to utilizing a golf rangefinder you will by no means go back to the times of guessing ever again. It is without doubt one of the recommended golf rangefinders of 2018. The TecTecTec VPRO500 Golf Rangefinder ensures the golf course is something you sit up for.
Those options GPS-operated rangefinders have, such as terrain and look from above, are something you have to be accustomed to before you play that or one other gap, while weather advice is something that you most likely already know, for example, considering current wind speed and route with a purpose to calculate proper direction of a shot in addition to energy and spin.
Having a rangefinder additionally helps forestall taking a very long time to make choices which means people won't be piling up behind you waiting so that you can finish the hole. You'll be able to strive with the Bushnell Tour Z6, one of many cheap fashions of the golf rangefinder.
Dimension of System - You want your laser rangefinder to be the best size for what you want. Listed below are some of the elements to think about when buying the best golf rangefinder. It does what it's meant to do. Studying via different Nikon rangefinder evaluations, there are complaints in regards to the units lack of slope readings and its lack of others bells and whistles.
Certain, you're going to use your rangefinder to acquire yardages to the flag, but you are able to do far more than that with your laser. You may be allowed to hold only USGA accepted rangefinders for various golf excursions. At this low worth, you'll forgo added features, and due to this fact this specific Simmons golf rangefinder is finest for beginners.
Gauging The Distance Is Faster: As in comparison with a GPS rangefinder, the golf rangefinder can easily gauge the exact distance to any standing obstacle in a golf course. It will do distance as well as anything we've got mentioned right here (and they're all great options with high quality efficiency) in addition to having some really sensible options for all times on the course.
GPS devices also have more options and capabilities than what a laser unit can provide. Not many people wish to spend tons of time having to manually do the calculations necessary to measure distances. Secondly, the GPS units take out all the aiming and measuring work by supplying you with an up to date distance to the outlet from anywhere on the tee you are standing.

XILS-lab updates ultimate matrix modular soft synth with welcomed fanciful features added to XILS 4 v1.5
XILS-lab updates ultimate matrix modular soft synth with welcomed fanciful features added to XILS 4 v1.5
XILS-lab updates ultimate matrix modular soft synth with welcomed fanciful features added to XILS 4 v1.5 “My favourite analogue synth is probably the VCS3, so when I heard that a company was releasing a software version I was quite cautious; today, XILS 4 is one of my favourite plug-ins! Working with it gives me the same excitement as the original hardware, plus there are lots of extra features, since it is basically two VCS3s with an interconnected sequencer. The sound is great, and it is one of the best soft synths on the market for experimenting with new ways of creating sounds!” - Jean-Michel Jarre (award-winning composer, performer, and record producer), April 2015 GRENOBLE, FRANCE: audio software company XILS-lab is proud to announce availability of XILS 4 v1.5 — a major update to its self-styled ultimate matrix modular soft synth, effectively emulating a conceptual ‘blend’ of the legendary VCS4, a ‘dual VCS3’ analogue matrix modular synthesizer prototyped by British trailblazing entity EMS (Electronic Music Studios) back in 1969 but never commercially released, with pioneering British synthesist Tim Blake’s so-called ‘Crystal Machine’ (comprising two EMS Synthi AKS analogue matrix modular synthesizers with hard sync between their oscillators, one connected to the keyboard and the other connected to the sequencer) — with welcomed additional fanciful features including a powerful preset manager in a single window and new effects with semi-modular routing, as of November 30… Historically, XILS-lab’s self-styled ultimate matrix modular soft synth creatively combines two XILS 3 soft synths; indeed, its earlier, critically-acclaimed release represents an authentic-sounding software recreation of the groundbreaking late-Sixties-vintage EMS VCS3 analogue matrix modular synthesizer, scaled up to also emulate EMS’ early-Seventies-vintage Synthi Sequencer 256, but boasting even more matrix connections than the original hardware that inspired it! In order to gain an appreciation of the sheer scope of XILS 4, understanding the origins of its smaller software sibling is in order; so let us journey, briefly, back in time, then... to 1969.
The British-built EMS VCS3 — or Electronic Music Studios Voltage Controlled Studio #3 to give it its full appellation (also affectionately known as ‘The Putney’ — after company founder Peter Zinovieff’s original pioneering electronic music studio location in the leafy London suburb — and, somewhat confusingly, ‘The Synthi’ — after its later SYNTHI VCS3 II incarnation) — made musical history upon its 1969 introduction as the first commercially portable synthesizer available anywhere in the world. Its innovative modular matrix-based patchboard dispensed with the telephone exchange-like cabling of other (much larger) modular systems in favour of making connections with (removable) coloured pins, so it could be comfortably housed in a small wooden (solid afrormosia) cabinet. Clearly distinctive in both its physics laboratory test equipment-lookalike looks and strange-sounding sound effects, the VCS3 quickly found favour with the more experimental leading lights of the day, including the BBC Radiophonic Workshop (think Dr Who), Brian Eno (with Roxy Music), Jean-Michel Jarre, and Pink Floyd, to name but a few first-generation famous users. Ultimately, thanks to Peter Zinovieff’s visionary synth wizardry, patch-building became a whole lot easier with more inputs and outputs to boot, and no more roadies (necessarily) needed! Needless to say, time and tide waits for no man (and no synth), so technology’s inexorable march onwards inevitably saw the venerable VCS3 washed away as a wave of powerful programmable American analogue polysynths took hold, opening the technological floodgates to the tsunami of more mainstream (and affordable) digital developments that ultimately changed the course of music making forever.
Fortunately for some, what goes around often comes around; today those strange sounds are sought after again and new VCS3s are available to custom order from a former EMS employee — albeit at a premium price tag with a predictably distant delivery date; mere musical mortals, meanwhile, have XILS-lab to thank for its cost-conscious and award-winning XILS 3 soft synth successfully taking the emulated essence of the late-Sixties-vintage VCS3 and associated early-Seventies-vintage Synthi Sequencer 256, transporting them to modern-day DAW-driven workflow with all the recallable benefits that brings with it. It is little wonder that XILS 3 proved popular with both first-time buyers beginning an intriguingly in-depth journey into the wonderful world of modular synthesis and also seasoned synthesists, such as renowned sound designer Richard Devine and original VCS3 aficionado Tim Blake (Hawkwind), as well as Peter Zinovieff himself, who kindly commented, “A great step forward!” Fast-forwarding to today, thanks to constructive conversations with both Peter Zinovieff about EMS’ fabled fusion of two VCS3s to produce the prototyped VCS4 and pioneering British synthesist Tim Blake about his so-called ‘Crystal Machine’ (comprising two EMS Synthi AKS analogue matrix modular synthesizers, with hard sync between their oscillators, one connected to the keyboard and the other connected to the sequencer), which resulted in XILS-lab’s self-styled XILS 4 ultimate matrix modular soft synth — subsequently reaping the benefits of a high-profile namecheck by French electronic music pioneer par excellence Jean-Michel Jarre as one of his favourite plug-ins, XILS 4 v1.5 takes that conceptual ‘blend’ to its current contemporary conclusion, courtesy of the New Preset Manager (NPM) being implemented alongside an additional natural-sounding reverb, new effects with semi-modular routing, second independent keyboard, and self-explanatory BAL L-R (balance between left and right synthesizer module) knob.
Needless to say, that NPM implementation is a major step forward in the evolution of XILS 4, allowing users to easily and speedily perform different tasks with welcomed visual feedback — for example, locate and load the most suitable preset in seconds via a multi-criteria search engine, save/save as presets with (user-generated) tags, batch-tag multiple selections of presets, export/import multiple selections of presets, and select view (such as showing only favourite presets or hiding unwanted presets). In adding a natural-sounding reverb to XILS 4 v1.5, XILS-lab also took the opportunity to totally revamp its Effects Block, so users can now route any effect in any order, and also choose to process only the left or right synthesizer module with any available effect; in short, while previous versions offered only one instance of fixed effect routing, now dozens of possibilities are available — adding reverb on the chorus (or vice versa) or processing the left synthesizer module with reverb and the right synthesizer module with delay and phaser, for example. Elsewhere, the second keyboard opens up XILS 4 to the possibilities of split patches or layering the two synth engines to only one part of the keyboard.
Accomplished additions apart, XILS 4’s (online-viewable) full feature list is impressive as it comes — cue 12 aliasing-free oscillators, grouped in six pairs across two synthesizer modules, with wave shaping and hard sync, plus two additional noise generators, and two (virtual) analogue multimode filters, each with non-linear and zero-delay behaviour and three different (12/18/24 dB) modes... just for starters. Simply said, those already fanciful features really represent only the tip of the inspirational iceberg, so-to-speak... just ask Jean-Michel Jarre about its pin matrix magic, for what it’s worth! With up to 1,140 simultaneous connections per patch, perhaps it is all the more understandable that he said, “... it is one of the best soft synths on the market for experimenting with new ways of creating sounds!” XILS 4 v1.5 is available to purchase as a USB eLicenser or iLok (1 and 2 dongle hardware or software) protected plug-in at an introductory promo price of €99.00 EUR until December 10, 2018 — rising thereafter to an MSRP of €179.00 EUR — from XILS-lab here: https://www.xils-lab.com/products/xils-4-p-148.html (Note that XILS 4 v1.5 is free for owners of all earlier versions of XILS 4.) XILS 4 v1.5 can be directly downloaded as a multi-format (AAX, AU, RTAS, VST), 32- and 64-bit soft synth and virtual effects plug-in for Mac (OS X 10.7 and later) and Windows (XP, 7, 8, 10) from here: https://www.xils-lab.com/products/xils-4-p-148/download.html

Tesla needs a perfect year. That won't be easy
New Post has been published on https://appradab.com/tesla-needs-a-perfect-year-that-wont-be-easy/
Tesla needs a perfect year. That won't be easy
But in order to justify its sky-high stock price, the automaker will need to overcome a growing list of challenges.
What’s happening: A global chip shortage is snarling production, while the business environment in China, a crucial market, remains fraught. Competitors are gaining ground and Tesla faces a safety investigation tied to a fatal crash in Texas.
Shares are down 2% in premarket trading.
Some Wall Street analysts still see a solid case for Tesla’s stock, which is trading at more than 1,100 times its earnings, according to data from Refinitiv.
“While the company is still far from the sort of scale to justify its stock price … production has exploded, and the company expects further expansion with the 2021 completion of its Berlin and Texas factories,” Bespoke Investment Group told clients.
But a closer look at the company’s financial results show that a big reason the company had a strong start to the year is because of its sale of regulatory credits, which brought in $518 million in revenue, and bitcoin holdings.
Tesla invested $1.5 billion in bitcoin last quarter while the cryptocurrency was soaring. Zachary Kirkhorn, the automaker’s “master of coin” (okay, chief financial officer), said the company later sold 10% of its position, resulting in a $101 million profit. That’s nearly a quarter of the $438 million Tesla earned when results are adjusted for stricter accounting standards.
And while there’s no denying that the company’s car sales could continue to boom this year, there are, as ever, a long list of risks.
CEO Elon Musk, whose official title is now “Technoking,” told investors Monday that the chip shortage was “a huge problem” for Tesla, and that it was battling “some of the most difficult supply chain challenges that we’ve ever experienced.”
Musk said the company should be able to stick to its target for better than 50% growth in sales this year, which would take sales over the 750,000 mark.
To reach that target, the company needs to continue to see strong demand in China, the world’s biggest market. But it faces potential issues there from both consumers and Beijing.
Last week, Tesla’s booth at the Shanghai Auto Show was briefly besieged by protesters complaining about problems with its cars. The episode comes after Tesla was summoned by regulators in February to discuss the quality of its Shanghai-made vehicles. The following month, reports surfaced that the country’s military had banned its vehicles from entering its complexes over concerns that cameras onboard could be used for spying.
Chinese authorities aren’t the only ones putting Tesla under the microscope. The company is also working with US safety investigators after two passengers were killed in a crash of a Tesla Model S outside Houston.
These challenges come as Tesla faces increasingly fierce competition from upstart rivals like Rivian, as well as traditional automakers like Volkswagen and General Motors that are ramping up their electric vehicle offerings.
Tesla could still rise above the fray — and Bespoke Investment Group notes that the company’s stock is often divorced from its financial performance anyways. But the path ahead for Tesla and its Technoking looks tricky.
Wall Street’s Archegos losses just topped $10 billion
Losses caused by the collapse of US hedge fund Archegos are piling up, my Appradab Business colleague Charles Riley reports.
The latest: Swiss bank UBS (UBS) revealed on Tuesday that it lost $774 million from last month’s implosion of Archegos Capital Management, a bigger hit than many analysts expected. The announcement came as Japan’s Nomura (NMR) said it would book losses of $2.9 billion from Archegos, a sharp increase from its initial estimate of $2 billion.
Global banks have now disclosed losses of at least $10.4 billion from the failure of Archegos, a New York-based family office that managed the fortune of investor Bill Hwang. Some smaller banks may also have been hit, and the fallout has taken the shine off an otherwise strong earnings season for global banks.
Credit Suisse (CS) has been rocked hardest. The Swiss bank said last week that the collapse will cost it a total of $5.5 billion, and it has announced the departure of its top investment banker and chief risk officer. Other members of the executive board will not receive bonuses for 2020.
Morgan Stanley (MS) suffered a $911 million loss, and Japanese lender Mitsubishi UFJ Securities is expecting to lose roughly $300 million.
Remember: Archegos used borrowed money to build massive positions in stocks including media companies ViacomCBS (VIACA) and Discovery, and was unable to pay back its lenders when share prices dropped. The resulting damage to banks has raised concerns about the dangers of leverage and led to calls for tighter regulation.
Is the $2 trillion company club about to expand?
Apple (AAPL) is the only American firm to reach a $2 trillion market value. But it could soon have a lot more company in that elite club, my Appradab Business colleague Paul R. La Monica reports.
Microsoft is worth just under $2 trillion. Amazon has a market capitalization of $1.7 trillion, and Google owner Alphabet is worth about $1.5 trillion.
Tech stocks have come roaring back in recent weeks, helping to push these Nasdaq stalwarts near record highs.
In fact, tech’s Magnificent Seven — Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Alphabet, Microsoft and Tesla— are now collectively worth about $9.3 trillion. That’s a quarter of the S&P 500’s total market value of $37.5 trillion.
“The earnings expectations for the S&P 500 are through the roof for this year as investors expect this great recovery, and tech is a big part of that,” said Daniel Morgan, senior portfolio manager with Synovus Trust Company. “These companies are just so dominant.”
Morgan noted that while some of the tech leaders of the 1990s, such as IBM, Oracle and Cisco, eventually began to post slower earnings and sales growth, that doesn’t appear to be happening with the current industry leaders.
“They are high-growth companies but also defensive because they could still do well if the reopening of the economy doesn’t go smoothly after Covid,” said Chris Gaffney, president of world markets at TIAA Bank. “Some consumer behavior changes during the pandemic may be permanent.”
Up next
3M (MMM), Eli Lilly (LLY), Invesco, GE (GE), Hasbro (HAS), JetBlue (JBLU), Raytheon (RTN) and UPS (UPS) report results before US markets open. Google owner Alphabet (GOOGL), Capital One (COF), FireEye (FEYE), Microsoft (MSFT), Mondelez (MDLZ), Pinterest (PINS), Starbucks (SBUX) and Visa (V) follow after the close.
Also today: US consumer confidence data for April posts at 10 a.m. ET.
Coming tomorrow: Investors will comb through the Federal Reserve’s latest policy announcement for any signs of concern about inflation.

Signing out is especially important if you're using a shared computer (for example, at a library or office) because it prevents others from viewing your emails.
To sign in:
Create Gmail Account
Go to www.gmail.com.
Type your user name (your email address) and password, then click Next.

To add a contact:
Click the Google apps button.
Click the Contacts button in the drop-down menu.
Your contacts screen will appear. Click the Add new contact button in the lower-right corner.
Enter the contact information, then click Save.
To edit a contact:
In the Google apps drop-down menu, select Contacts.
Locate the contact you want to edit, then click Edit Contact.

By default, when you send an email to a new address, Gmail adds the address to your contacts. You can then go to your contacts to edit the person's information as needed.
Importing mail and contacts
You may already have a contact list from another email address, and it would be a lot of work to re-enter all of this information manually. Gmail allows you to import your contacts from another email account, and you can even import all of your email messages from that account. Several email providers are supported, including Yahoo!, Hotmail, and AOL.
To add other accounts:
Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the page, then select Settings.
Go to Accounts and click Add a mail account. You can then follow the instructions on the screen to import your mail.

How can I add a live tile to my Windows start menu?

EasyMail can show you previews of your mail inbox in your Windows Start Menu. To do so you have to pin the LiveTile of EasyMail to your start menu. The easiest way to do this is via the EasyMail app settings:

In the EasyMail app settings please select the “Integration” section
Click “Pin to Start Menu” to pin the tile to the start menu
In the Windows Start menu right click on the “EasyMail” tile

You can use your purchases on up to 10 Windows devices. However, your licenses are bound to your Microsoft account. This means you must be logged in with the same Microsoft account on every device where you want to use the license.
No. Your licenses are bound to your Microsoft account. This means EasyMail will recognize your license after a reinstall. However, you have to make sure that you are still logged in with the same Microsoft account into Windows.
Windows Hello is part of EasyMail Plus. What is Windows Hello?
Windows Hello is a more personal way to sign in to your Windows 10 devices with just a look or a touch. EasyMail Plus also supports Windows Hello. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17215/windows-10-what-is-hello
I purchased the ad free version but now I see ads again. What is going on?
In very rare case it can happen that EasyMail may experiences problems with the activation of the app. This can happen when you are not logged in the Windows Store or if your Windows Store cache is corrupted.
Please make sure you are logged in the Windows Store. If this is the case please try to reset the cache of your Windows Store. This can easily be done with WSreset.exe. More info can be found here:
https://www.cnet.com/how-to/clear-the-store-cache-in-windows-10/
After the reset please restart the EasyMail app and click on the “Make Ad Free” button below the ad. This will reload the licenses and app activation should now succeed.
To logout from an account in EasyMail, please click on your avatar in the top-right corner. This will open a dropdown menu. Please click now on the “logout” button. This will log you out from all of your accounts in EasyMail.
Hint: Unfortunately, it is not possible to logout from one account only. If you want to stay in with some accounts, please follow the logout procedure written above. After the logout please just log in again with the accounts which should remain.
How do I disable autocorrect or spell checking in EasyMail?
Spell checking and autocorrect are global Windows 10 features. You can disable this feature in the Windows settings. To do so follow these steps:
Open the Windows “Start” menu and select “Settings”
In the Windows Settings select “Devices”
Choose “Typing” in the left pane
Under “Autocorrect misspelled words” set the toggle to “Off”
Hint: If you want to disable spell checking as well, set also the toggle under “Highlight misspelled words” in step 4 to “Off”
How can I change the language of the autocorrect function?
Spell checking and autocorrect are global Windows 10 features. To change the language of theses features you must add a second language to Windows itself. To do so follow these steps:
Open the Windows “Start” menu and select “Settings”
In the Windows Settings select “Time & Language”
Choose “Region & Language” in the left pane
Click “Add a language” and select the language you want to have
Click on your old language and make sure it is still set as default (Windows display language). This is important as your new language is only for typing
Click on the new language and go to “Options”
Remove the keyboard and add the keyboard type of your PC
Now you can use the language selector (Microsoft call it ‘Input Indicator’) on the right-hand side of the Windows taskbar to switch between the language you want to type in (or use Windows Key + Space Bar to switch language instead). Spell check whilst typing in EasyMail and other Windows Store apps will be for the language you have selected in the taskbar.
The printing of attachments is currently not directly supported by EasyMail. To print an attachment, please download the attachment. After download completion open the file. Here you will be able to print it.

The Ultimate Construction Holiday Gift Guide 2020
Another year is about ready to wrap up as the holiday season is upon us. It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but it can be stressful for those in your life that are hard to buy for, especially those in the construction trades. Our goal is to make that process easier for you or your loved one with our top picks for gifts every year!
For more gift ideas, be sure to check out our Ultimate Construction Holiday Gift Guides from 2017, 2018, and 2019 or our past Father's Day Gift Guides from 2018, 2019, and 2020.
I’ve been lucky enough to be able to use many of the tools on this list throughout the year and there are others on the list that I’d love to try because they have been highly regarded in reviews. It should be assumed that the tool manufacturers have given us these tools for free to test out, but none of them have paid to be a part of this gift guide. All tools on this list have been chosen by me, because I think they would be great gifts.
This post contains affiliate links, which earn us a small commission for the things that you buy. The prices in the links are exactly the same as they would be normally!

Zenith Industries ZN700001 Trim Puller Buy on Amazon
Trim Puller Multi-Tool
If you’ve ever had to pull baseboard, crown molding, or other trim work, you know it’s pretty easy to either damage the trim or the wall behind it in the process. I picked up a Trim Puller recently and it makes saving trim extremely easy and greatly reduces damage to the wall. Just line it up with the joint of the trim against the wall, hit the back of it with a hammer and the trim pops loose.
Vaughan & Bushnell 4300 Dalluge Da Bar By Dalluge Nail Puller, 12" Buy on Amazon
Vaughan & Bushnell 4300 Dalluge Da Bar Nail Puller
Whether your building new or demolishing existing, chances are you’ll need to pull a nail somewhere. The DA Bar was another one of my recent purchases and its beauty is the ability to dig its claws into wood to expose sunken nails and the leverage it provides to pull it out. The nail puller comes in 8”, 10”, 11”, and 12” sizes.
Spring Tools PM407 Nail Set and Hinge Pin Tool Buy on Amazon
Spring Tools PM407 Nail Set and Hinge Pin Tool
Removing hinge pins on doors are annoying and using a screw driver can cause damage to the finish on the hinge. Spring Tools not only has a spring loaded hinge pin remover, but also a nail set for those pesky nails that refuse to be driven flush to the surface. Both of these have come in extremely handy for me recently and it’s also another tool that I’ve purchased.
Starrett ProSite Miter Saw Protractor Buy on Amazon
Starrett ProSite Miter Saw Protractor
As every contractor knows, wall corners are rarely ever 90 degrees. The Starrett Miter Saw Protractor, another one of my recent purchases, is a low tech way of finding the exact angle of the cut that you need, whether it’s joining 2 pieces together or making a single cut. This simple tool takes a lot of frustration out of the finishing process.
Malco MSHXLC 6-inch Reversible and Cleanable 1/4-inch and 5/16-inch Magnetic Hex Driver (1-pack) Buy on Amazon
Malco MSHXLC 6-inch Reversible and Cleanable 1/4-inch and 5/16-inch Magnetic Hex Driver
¼” and 5/16” hex head fasteners are extremely common on jobsites and this magnetic driver bit combines those two sizes into one. This bit is a favorite of technicians in the HVAC-R trades, but most will find it to be pretty handy to have for a variety of tasks.
Klein Tools Digital Circuit Breaker Finder with GFCI Outlet Tester ET310 Klein Tools
Klein Tools Digital Circuit Breaker Finder
If your house is like mine, the labeling system inside your circuit breaker box is an absolute mess, which makes it extremely difficult to find the correct breaker to turn off when needed. The Klein Tools Digital Circuit Breaker finder is a 2-in-1 tool that not only can confirm that your outlets have been properly wired, but it can also help you easily locate the correct breaker an outlet is wired to. Simply plug the outlet tester into an outlet, bring the receiver wand to your breaker panel, and run the receiver down each breaker until the light indicates that the correct breaker has been found. Of course, you should ALWAYS double check that power has been turned off to whatever electrical system you need to work on before beginning.

Milwaukee Top-Off 175W Power Supply
Preorder on Ohio Power Tool
Milwaukee Top-Off Power Supply
For those in the industry that need to change their electronic devices, like laptops or tablets, this is a fantastic mobile option. It provides 175W of power off of a Milwaukee M18 battery pack and, other than charging electronics, it can also power box fans and TVs, making it an option for tailgating purposes. The Top-Off features (3) different charging ports: (1) AC 120V outlet, (1) USB-C Power Delivery (PD) port, and (1) USB-A port, and all 3 can be used at the same time.
The Top-Off was just recently announced at Milwaukee’s online product showcase, PIPELINE, and is currently available for pre-order with the hope they’ll be shipped before Christmas.
ISOtunes LINK Bluetooth Hearing Protection: OSHA Compliant Noise Isolation Earmuff Headphones, 14+ Hour Battery Life, Included Rechargeable Lithium Ion or AAA batteries, 23dB NRR, 85dB Safe Max Volume Buy on Amazon
Isotunes Link Earmuff Headphones
I’ve included some version of Isotunes on nearly every one of my gift guides, because they offer a rugged product with sound dampening technology. Last year, the brand released a rechargeable, cord free version of their ear buds, but this year, they have released their first set of earmuffs, by popular request of their customers. The Isotunes Link headphones reduce noise by 24 decibels, have an IPX4 rating for water and sweat resistance, provide 14+ hours of runtime on the included lithium-ion rechargeable battery, or 28+ hours with 3- AAA batteries.
BOSCH GLM400CL Blaze Outdoor 400 ft Bluetooth Connected Laser Measure with Camera & Lithium-Ion Battery C & J Direct GmbH & Co. KG
Bosch GLM400CL Outdoor Laser Measure
The Bosch GLM400CL is the coolest laser I’ve ever used, because it solves a laser measure’s biggest problem: sunlight. With the use of a built-in camera and on-screen crosshairs, this measure lets users measure up to 400 feet away without the need to see where the laser is pointing. This laser will set you back around $300, so if you don’t want to spend that kind of cash, Bosch makes plenty of other great laser measures that won’t break the bank. Their GLM30 model has a 100’ range and can be found for around $70 currently.
TRUEWERK Men's Work Pants - T2 WerkPant Technical Workwear, 32W X 32L Wolf Grey Buy on Amazon
Truewerk Work Pants
Truewerk makes some seriously comfortable work pants. You may like your jeans, but your jeans aren’t water repellent, stain and wind resistant while also being breathable and stretchable for increased mobility.
The T3 Werkpants are made for the colder months, as they are fleece lined for additional insulation. I’ve been wearing mine for a couple weeks and they truly do make a difference.
For warmer climates, the T2 Werkpants are not lined, but have all of the same features as the T3. For even warmer climates, the T1 Werkpants are even thinner and more breathable than the T2. I have all 3 versions, most of which I have purchased myself and they’re quickly becoming my favorite pants for not only working, but for a casual look when I leave the house.
Milwaukee 2951-20 M12 Lithium-Ion Cordless Jobsite Radio/Bluetooth Speaker with Built-In Charger (Tool Only) Buy on Amazon
Milwaukee M12 Cordless Bluetooth/AM/FM Jobsite Radio with Charger
If you’re on a jobsite that allows music, this compact 12V battery-powered radio from Milwaukee is an easy-to-transport and easy to use radio and Bluetooth speaker. You’re not going to be blown away by the volume it puts out, but that’s probably for the best, as contractors need to be aware of their surroundings on a jobsite. It connects very easily on the Bluetooth setting and I’ve been pleased with the sound quality and runtime from a 2.0ah battery. It can also be plugged in for infinite runtime and for battery charging.
Dewalt DWST08400 ToughSystem 2.0 Extra Large Toolbox Buy on Amazon
DeWalt Toughsystem 2.0
Modular tool storage can make anyone in construction more efficient, as it helps them stay organized, while also making it much easier to get all of the tools they need on and off the jobsite. DeWalt has recently updated their popular rugged storage solution, Toughsystem, with an updated version called Toughsystem 2.0. It features and easier to use, one-handed latching system, upgraded latches and wheels, the ability to connect new half-width cases, and add interior trays for the deeper boxes.
The Toughsystem 2.0 is also reverse compatible with the original version, other than a few exceptions, but the updates make this storage system much easier to use and more versatile.
Werner Leansafe X3
Buy at Home Depot
LEANSAFE X3 6 ft. Fiberglass Professional 3-in-1 Multi-Purpose Ladder
Ladders are one of the most dangerous tools on any jobsite and much of that can be attributed to using the wrong type of ladder for the task. The good news is that Werner has solved that problem for many different situations with the Leansafe X3. Not only can this ladder be safely used as a step/a-frame ladder, it’s also designed to be leaned against a wall (something that most tradesmen do with other stepladders, but aren’t supposed to), and the back of the ladder can be extended vertically to transform the ladder into a straight ladder, giving the user several additional feet of climbing height.
This Type 1AA ladder has a load capacity of 375 pounds, making it super sturdy to go along with its versatility.
MILWAUKEE HYDROBREAK RAINSHELL JACKET Buy on Amazon
Milwaukee HYDROBREAK Layer Rain Shell Jacket
Fall, winter and spring can come with some pretty cold and rainy days, so it’s important to keep yourself or the contractor in your life dry and warm on those days. I’ve been wearing this Milwaukee Hydrobreak jacket for over a year and it’s my go-to for days I have to be in a wet environment. It’s thin enough to not make you uncomfortable on warmer days, but also provides wind resistance to match the water resistance if you want to wear a thermal layer underneath on colder days. Combine it with a base layer of a Milwaukee M12 heated jacket for maximum warmth.
Helly Hansen Women’s Luna Winter Jacket
buy at helly hansen
Helly Hansen Luna Women’s Winter Jacket
For the female contractors working in cold climates, this new Helly Hansen Luna Winter Jacket is a high-quality, lightweight, waterproof, and windproof jacket perfect for the jobsite. Like many brands have discovered recently, you can’t just shrink down a men’s version of workwear and call it a women’s size, it has to be completely redesigned to meet the needs of the women wearing them, which is exactly what Helly Hansen has done with the Luna collection.
DEWALT 20V Max XR Cordless Router, Brushless, Tool Only (DCW600B), Black-v186, Mini-v186 Buy on Amazon
DeWalt 20-Volt MAX XR Lithium-Ion Cordless Brushless Router
A few different cordless trim routers have hit the market in recent months and I picked up the DeWalt version a few weeks ago and have been extremely pleased with it. It’s powerful, quiet, and smooth, making it easy to control while adding those finishing touches to your trimwork. It also has plenty of power to cut out windows and doors in plywood for framers.
Keen Utility Men's Chicago 6” Composite Toe Waterproof Metatarsal Guard Work Boot Construction, Tobacco/Black, 11 Buy on Amazon
Keen Utility Chicago Work Boot
Heading into the cold and wet months of the year, it’s extremely important to find a work boot that is not only comfortable to work in, but also waterproof. Keen Utility recently released a new boot called the Chicago, which features their KEEN.dry waterproofing membrane and a cushioned midsole for added comfort. The 6” boot comes in a variety of different versions, including a soft-toe, carbon fiber toe, a metatarsal guard, a women’s version, an Electro static dissipative (ESD) version, and even a low-top oxford version.
Milwaukee Gen 2 Rocket Tower Light/Charger
Buy at Home Depot
Milwaukee M18 Cordless ROCKET LED Stand Light/Charger
Days are much shorter in the later months of the year, making it extremely important to have a good lighting solution on the jobsite. No one matches the collection of lighting solutions that Milwaukee has and one of their latest releases is the upgraded LED Rocket Light/Charger.
With an output of 6,000 lumens on high, this light can be set up and extended to 7’ high in a matter of seconds. The max height helps reduce shadows and its 3 heads can all be angled separately to provide both ambient and task lighting. The onboard changer can also charge M18 batteries while plugged into an extension cord. I’ve had this Rocket light for a few weeks and, if you only need one light that can pretty much do it all, this is a great place to start, but you’ll have to pay for all of those features.

Annotated edition, Week in Ethereum News, March 21, 2020 issue
Shill alert: Gitcoin’s 250k in matching grants is live. My grant is here. If you give because you particularly want the annotated edition to continue, could you add .11 to whatever you give? eg, 1.11 DAI or .11 ETH or .01011 ETH. The previous round went great but tracking what people like is hard.
The $250k includes $100k for tech, 50k for media, and 100k for public health, mostly related to covid. I’m curious as to how this goes - I find it very hard to evaluate the public health proposals, whereas Eth proposals are easy for me to evaluate. I mostly know the people, I know the ideas, etc. None of that is true for the public health category. There’s an opportunity for someone knowledgeable to (anonmously?) evaluate all the applicants and shape what gets funded.
Eth1
Latest core devs call. Tim Beiko’s notes.
Discussions (non-exhaustive list) about EIP inclusions in next hard fork: eip2537 (BLS12-381 curve precompile) final, so we can have eth2 light clients on eth1. eip2456 timestamp for scheduling instead of block number, eip2542 vs ungas, eip2046 reducing gas cost for static calls, and eip1962 generalized precompile
Geth v1.9.12 – eth_call no longer defaults to first account
Merry Go Round – an idea for syncing state, a la Bittorrent
Lots of talk in the core devs call about all the different EIPs being evaluated for the next fork.
In some ways this week is a synopsis of what’s happening at the protocol layer: people are working on the things for the next fork and arguing over what should go in, as well as what is ready to go in. The Geth team are chugging along keeping the majority of the network humming, and there is research and ideas being passed around about how to get the current Ethereum mainnet to be stateless.
Vitalik’s long-term roadmap below also does a good job of explaining the main things being worked on in eth1. I wasn’t exactly sure where to put it, probably incorrectly chose to put it in eth2 since so many things are long-term.
One interesting thing to note is that this is Vitalik’s “personal” vision. Of course most of it is not controversial, but he just did this by himself. Does it mean that it is Ethereum’s roadmap? No. It means that Vitalik came up with it at some point and decided to publish it - it does not necessarily reflect what everyone thinks. He didn’t build consensus, he just published what he was seeing on the day he wrote it down.
I noticed plenty of misinformation about Vitalik’s roadmap, as if none of this will happen for a decade. Quite the opposite is true: the top 2/3 of the page is being worked on right now. The Beacon Chain of eth2 is still set to launch in the next few months.
The bottom third of the graphic is much more speculative. Polynomial commitments instead of state roots? That just got published last week, that’s likely years away. When CBC Casper? I’m not sure but it’s not soon and the transition is far from clear - to me, anyway. Perhaps Vlad would give you a different answer.

Prysmatic client update – stable testnet for a month (but to be rebooted to current spec), surround vote slashing

State transition in Eth2 explainer from Nethermind’s Sly Gryphon
How Eth2 improves on Eth1’s weaknesses from Prysmatic’s Ivan Martinez
Gitcoin playlist of short eth2 explainer videos
I know probably no one else sees the order of things when I try to order things properly. So here’s who it went: Danny’s update was high-level. Ben’s was a bit more in the weeds. Even further into the weeds is client update and “run your own testnet node.” Then we got into Vitalik’s roadmap, which bridged the current eth2 with the future work. So then we got writeups of research like eth1/eth2 merge, hardening timestaps, before getting into a few explainers that were a bit more for broader audience.
The ordering flowed perfectly in my mind, but probably only in mine!

How do we better onboard newcomers to Ethereum?
Custom text records on ENS
Onboarding newcomers is something I’ve been thinking about lately, and was tangential to my EthCC talk, which that post references. Community has decentralized, which is good, but also poses some challenges. A good portion of people who think of themselves as “Eth community” get their news from publications which are outright clickbait or have historically not done a very good job at ascertaining facts. Still churning over this one, should probably turn some of my talk into a series of blog posts myself.
Someone at EthCC told me that they summarized my talk as “Make r/ethereum great again,” which is fair. Yet while I continue to put a decent amount of time into r/ethereum, it’s not crystal clear whether we should try to revive it to be the main community discussion point. For one thing, the existing rule is that it’s English-only, which feels unfair, but perhaps necessary for moderation purposes. Can Reddit be the main ecosystem gathering point? Do we need new tools? Should they be web3-friendly sites, or should we keep Reddit as something that new people can find?

NYT’s Nathaniel Popper reports on how the lead dev of Venezuela’s Petro scam got screwed
The NYT on how the Venezuelan kleptocrats screwed the dev is the epitome of something-we-all-saw-coming, which you already knew if you’ve read the newsletter for a long time. I got criticism from a bunch of different corners (”oh that’s because you’re an American,” “you can’t say that, people will think it represents us,” etc) for calling the Petro a scam when it was announced, and I ignored it. I don’t know why you got into this space, but I didn’t get into it to help kleptocrat leftist authoritarians.
Meanwhile, lots of cool stuff in SNARKs, including in Livepeer about how they might be able to detect improper transcoding.
Finally, Cristian Espinoza translated last week’s annotated edition into Spanish, which to my knowledge is the first time that the annotated edition has been translated. Very cool, and support his Gitcoin grant for more translations!
I’ll add the #mostclicked here. Amusingly I had some maxis spreading more lies about me this week because my tweets auto-delete. So here’s a screenshot since that’s more durable than linking to a tweet

Switch Starter Kit
The Nintendo Switch has been off to a great start, and while a great many of it’s hit games (Breath of the Wild, ARMS, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and the newly-released Splatoon 2) are sure to be on most everyone’s list of must-haves for the console, I’d like to take a look at some lesser-known titles that have engaged me just as much in my time with it. Most of these are multiplatform and can be found elsewhere, sure, but if you’ve just gotten a Switch and want to know what else you can get on it, look no further!
Right off the bat, some of the best indie platformers of the last few years have received ports to the Switch. If you’re a fan of the various Shovel Knight campaigns or the Shantae series, you’re in luck. All three of Shovel Knight’s campaigns are available here, as well as Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. Those have gotten enough wide-spread praise though, so I see no reason to go on about them too much. They’re on Switch too. Buy ‘em if you want.
Fans of the F-Zero franchise…might not be getting a new game anytime soon, but Shin’en Multimedia have delivered on something that comes close to scratching that itch. The Wii and Wii U received futuristic racers in the form of Fast Racing League and later Fast Racing Neo, and the Switch also gets in on the action with Fast RMX. An update/expansion to Fast Racing Neo, it’s got some new tracks and vehicles, alongside some updates to visuals and performance (which is saying something, as the game is honestly pretty gorgeous already). If you missed out on it on the Wii U, give this remix a shot!
The good folks at Inti Creates have also graced the system (alongside the 3DS, in some cases) with some interesting games in the forms of Blaster Master Zero and Mighty Gunvolt Burst. The former is a reboot of the beloved classic, switching between control of your mighty ATV and on-foot sections using a wide-variety of weapons. The game captures an old-school feel and can get pretty challenging (well, provided you beat the game and then go to the unlockable hard mode), and it was overall…a blast. Sorry. As for Mighty Gunvolt Burst, it has the distinction of being the first good game starring Mighty No. 9’s Beck. A crossover of sorts with the Azure Striker Gunvolt series, it’s an old-school platformer with plenty of jumping and shooting. If you were let down by Mighty No. 9, this might take the sting out a bit.
Snake Pass…is admittedly the one game on this list I’m not a huge fan of, but I respect what it sets out to do. You control Noodle, a cute little snake that has to navigate stages as only a snake can. A platformer in a very strange sense, you really just control his head, steering his long body and slowly making your way through a stage, various collectibles along the way egging you on to be more daring. But of course as a snake, Noodle has to be careful when navigating stages, gradually coiling around structures and making sure he has a good grip before going on. The controls might take a bit of getting used to, but they feel quite realistic overall. If you’ve been dying to play a game where you control a snake with a fair degree of authenticity, this might be for you.
Snipperclips: Cut it Out Together was a launch title for the Switch, and received a fair bit of recognition, but I feel I can’t leave it out of this post, and it deserves a spot on any Switch owner’s shelf (or in their SD card, as it were). You and another player take control of Snip and Clip, two little cuties who can overlap their bodies and then “snip” parts of them off (don’t worry, they grow back) to make into a variety of shapes. Players have to work together to solve puzzles and challenges, and it might be a little goofy, but it’s undoubtedly fun. From correctly matching a particular shape to playing basketball or popping balloons, Snipperclips is a good time…but one that really does require a friend. You CAN play a good deal of it by yourself, taking turns controlling Snip and Clip, but it’s just not the same.
Capcom and Konami also churned out some interesting exclusives for the system that deserve at least some spotlight. While Super Bomberman R was a launch title, it tended to get lost in the Breath of the Wild hype, so it’s important to mention that it was indeed a great Bomberman title! A charming little story mode, the chaotic multiplayer the series has been known for and the chance to play as a Pyramid Head or Belmont…what more could you need? As for Capcom, while it’s no Street Fighter V, Switch owners DID get Ultra Street Fighter II: The New Challengers. An updated version of the classic, there were a few new bells and whistles added, like redrawn HD-sprites as an option, as well as two “new” characters: Violent Ken and Evil Ryu. Certainly worth a look for fans of either franchise, though maybe not at their current price point…
Teleportation in games is usually tricky to pull off without breaking the game’s balance, but Mr. Shifty is a rare example of getting it right. Playing as the titular…hero, your goal is simple: storm a supervillain’s ridiculously tall skyscraper and stop his evil plot, taking down anyone in your way with your teleporting (shifting) power. Players can only go a few feet in front of themselves, but the top-down perspective leads to some fun bits where you plan your assault on the opposition, dancing around them with no way to pin you down. It’s immensely satisfying when it works, but the Switch version does have some issues. I’ve had it crash on me a few times, and the frame rate isn’t stable a lot of the time, though a patch did ease the issues a fair bit. A game worth checking out no matter the platform though.
And lastly, at least for what’s out at the time of writing, I’ve happened upon Implosion: Never Lose Hope. Now, this has been out on mobile for quite a while now, but it’s making it’s console debut on Switch, so that’s something, right? A neat little hack-and-slash, it’s got robot suits taking down mutants with ridiculous-looking sword combos and special attacks, and while it’s not all that deep, it’s fun enough for what it is. There’s a level-up and customization system too that adds a bit more complexity to the game, and with three distinct characters to play as, it’s a fun time overall.
And that’ll do it. While certainly not EVERY game worth getting on the Switch, these are a great foundation to start your Switch gaming library and hopefully many more will be on the way soon. On the go or in your home, these games can help hold your attention in-between matches in ARMS or Splatoon 2 and tide you over until Super Mario Odyssey releases. Happy gaming!
Until next time.

BuiLD A *QUALiTY* Audio DigiTizER FOR yOur AmigA foR unDER $20 !!!
First off, here is the correct parts list. DON'T use the other ones below from the original articles!!! They are WRONG!!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 ADC0804 A/D Convertor 1 LM386N Audio Amp 1 100K Trim Pot 1 .1uF Capacitor 1 10uF Electrolytic Capacitor 1 47pf Disk Capacitor 1 10K Resistor 1 DB25 Male connector 1 Female RCA or Mini jack ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I built mine on a piece of perf board 2" x 3.5" in size. Drill holes for the RCA jack and the 100K pot shaft. Make all the solder connections as shown in the schematic I drew. I take no responsibility for any problems caused by or resulting from this schematic. I drew it exactly the way that I have mine wired up, and it worked fine! I suggest using sockets for the 2 IC's as the ADC0804 cost ~$12.00 !! Pick a good layout before doing the project because you can get this thing really small if you try hard. I made the mistake of laying mine out poorly, and ended up having to cross over the 8 data lines from the A/D to the DB25!! Think ahead and save yourself some trouble.
I have used the digitizer with AGMSRecordSound/Playsound, MED 3.21, AniMan, and VCLI4. It has worked great with all of them. The quality of the samples it takes can be very good. One thing that I have noticed is that electric guitars and high pitched rapid sounds tend to sound very scratchy, but this is pretty common on digitizers. For $4.95, Radio Shack also sells a cheepo-microphone. If you are just in this to play around with VCLI and AniMan, then this is the perfect thing to get.
Future Possibilities:
In an attempt to alleviate some of the scratchiness, I might attempt some sort of filter subcircuit. According to my boss (an EE) this should take care of the problem, and reduce some clipping at high volume levels.
Alright, here is the original documentation. Use it more as a guide as to what can be done with this project. DON'T USE THEIR PARTS LISTS!!!!!!
If you have any problems, I can be reached at
[email protected] (summer time only!!!!) [email protected] (rest of the year!!!!)
Good luck!!!!

************************ READ AT YOUR OWN RISK ************************** ORIGINAL DOCS
NOTE: Although I re-typed these instructions off of paper, I take no credit for the contents of this file. I typed exactly what I read off the paper and only made cosmetic changes to the look of the text file. Meaning, I only made it look better. I did not, to the best of my knowledge, change any of the wording or directions that follow. I also re-drew the schematics off paper using Deluxe Paint. Use a IFF picture viewer to see this picture, contained in the file called Schematic. Again, I only made a few cosmetic changes to the look of the schematic. I can not be sure that I didn't change something along the way of typing or drawing it on the computer. For this reason I must say that I can take no responsibility for any damage that may come to your computer system from using this device. Use at your own risk!
OK, now that that is out of the way, let me say this. I am very impressed with samples I've heard from this audio digitizer. It can be built for $15 to $20 dollars and consists of 9 parts! You can make a PC board for it or simply wire everything together. It will work with Perfect Sound, Audio Master II, and several other audio digitizing programs on the market. The sound quality is as good as any comercial devices I've heard samples from. It uses the same audio to digital conversion chip that the Perfect Sound digitizer uses. The only drawback to this device is that it can not sample in sterio. By this I mean that it can only sample one channel at a time, the left or right channel. This is not a problem, as a program like Perfect Sound will let you get around this. To create a sterio sample you need only to do a little more work. First sample the left channel, then the right channel, and then choose the menu command to create sterio. The software will then splice the two together to create sterio! I'd say this is a minor price to pay for saving $80 on the price of a sterio digitizer.
I was told to try Jamaco Electronics at 1-415-592-8097 for the rest of these parts, but I'm sure a lot of other places also carry them. There are a lot of different types of plugs you can use in place of the RCA type. Simply choose the type you want and if it will be male or female. Most people will use a female RCA plug. Get one that rack-mounts. I also picked up a small plastic box with IC project-board, 8 screws, 4 rubber feet, 2 label panels, all included in one package (Part 270-291a). It measures 3 7/16"x2 5/16"x1 3/16" and cost me $4.49. There are several small PC boards and cases at Radio Shack that will work fine. Just remember to think small. This layout doesn't need much room. I plan to melt (I always use a screwdriver to melt my holes instead of drill them.) two holes into this case. One will be in the middle-rear side of the box for the RCA plug. The next will be on top of the box for the pot. I also plan to cut a hole, using a hot exact'o knife, into the front of the box for the printer port connector. One hole will be melted on each side of this for two screws to hold the printer connector in place. A few labels, here and there, and we're all done. There are many ways one could go about building a case for this. I just thought I'd give some people an idea.
Before you digitize something your going to want to set your input level. If the input level is too high or low, the recording results will not be as good as they should be. To do this via Perfect Sound:
1. Choose "View Signal Levels" under the "Digitize" menu option. 2. Look at the "L" (Left channel.) or "R" (Right channel.) display at the bottom of the screen. Three numbers will be shown. The first is the smallest value ever digitized, the next is the highest ever digitized, and the last number is the current value. If your input level is too high ,then the smallest value will stay at 0 and highest value will be around 255. If your input level is at too low a level, the values will change only a little. 3. Adjust the volume of your output device and the pot on the digitizer until you get the right readings.
Now your ready to digitize. Changing the sample rate will alter the quality of the recording. A high sample rate will give a good recording, but eats up memory a lot faster than a lower sample rate. Certain samples will sound fine at a low rate of 8000, or less. While other samples will require a sample rate of 10000, or more. Play around until you find the best setting for what your doing.
Hope I've helped made the project a little easier for some of you. What follows is the original instructions.
You can reach me on CA-AUG at 216-292-4404.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a simple two chip audio digitizer for the Amiga (Specifically the 500, but the DB25 pinouts can be changed for the other models.). The parts list is:
Qty Item/Desc Value ----------------------------------- 1 Resistor 1K 1 Pot 100K 3 Capacitors .1uF,47pF,10uF 1 Mini Plug or RCA Plug 1 Connector DB25 1 A/D Converter ADC0804 (HeathKit usually has these.) 1 Audio Amp LM386N (Radio Shack)
This circuit will work with the program from the Perfect Sound digitizer with one small exception- it won't digitize in stereo.
All the Vcc's (Pin 20 on the ADC0804 and pin 6 on the LM386N) can be powered from the printer port (at least it is working for mine with no power supply problems!).
Use the monitor signal level option in the Perfect Sound program to adjust the pot to the correct level (NOTE: If the circuit is hooked to a line level- e.g. to the Audio-Out of a VCR or sterio- the pot should be turned WAY down. Just listen to the "monitor" and you'll see what I mean.).
I do have this circuit built and running on my Amiga so I know it works. I just hope you can read the diagram!
Jamie C.MUELLER (GEnie)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The digitizer plans were made to connect to an A500 parallel port. However, this will not work on the A1000 without some changes.
If you have an A1000:
Pin 10 (ACK*) is the same on both the A500 and A1000. Pin 2 to 9 (Data bits) don't change either. Pin 14 in the A500 is +5V (100 mA). Use pin 23 on the A1000 for this. Pins 17 to 25 on the A500 are signal to ground. Use pin 14 on the A1000 for this.

Welcome to my Gold Rush review!
Basically, Gold Rush is a brand new training course that has launched on Sep 7th by Jonny Rose & Sasha Ilic.
As its claim on the sales page, see how they use this free platform to rake in $176 every day into their accounts. 9 out of 10 people are digging out new commissions every day!
Okay now let’s jump into my Gold Rush review to see if it’s scam or legit!
#1. What Is Gold Rush?
The first thing I want to say is that this is not a SCAM!

And there is literally no competition for their attention, so you can start reaching them in any niche you want, while everyone is competing on Facebook & Google.
Also, instead of doing like most marketers do and that is launch unreliable products that have no overall success.
The Gold Rush team are taking a completely different route.
They have not 1 but 5 over-the-shoulder case studies from once complete newbies and now experienced marketers that are generating over $176 per day using this exact Gold Rush method.
#3. How Does Gold Rush Work?
In the members area, you get access to the exact way Jonny & other leading internet marketers run a 4-figure per month online business.
Gold Rush contains 1 hour of over-the-shoulder training and 5 video case studies from leading internet marketers who’ve made four-figures in the past month with Snapchat.
So, just watch all the instruction videos and you can actually set up the entire system in under 15 minutes, and start making money right away.
If you’re still confused, you can watch the quick video below for more details…

Animal Crossing’s Nook Miles Tickets have become a bizarre trading currency • Eurogamer.net
Something I suspect Nintendo never imagined when developing Animal Crossing: New Horizons was that Nook Miles Tickets – the coupons which can be used to visit mysterious deserted islands – would become a form of virtual currency. In the Animal Crossing trading community, large numbers of Nook Miles Tickets (abbreviated to NMT) are currently changing hands, and the whole thing feels rather weird. And, as ever, we’re at the point where people are selling them in bulk for real money.
NMT, for those who need a briefing, can be bought in-game with Nook Miles: points which are earned by completing various tasks such as planting flowers, fishing, or chopping trees. Once you’ve completed most of the game’s major milestones, you can still earn them from Nook Miles Plus – a rolling list of challenges, which places some limits on the rate at which you can earn them. These Nook Miles can then be spent on a limited selection of items and recipes, along with tickets to visit mystery islands. But given it takes a while to properly “clear” a Nook Miles island, and the rewards for doing so are often quite low, why are NMT suddenly in such high demand?
If only these grew on trees.
There are a couple of explanations here, but it seems the main factor driving demand is villagers. On Twitter, Reddit and other social media platforms, the Animal Crossing community has developed a number of favourite villagers – such as dapper cat Raymond or wannabe popstar Audie – and everyone wants them on their island. There’s a slang term for this: dreamies, short for dream villagers, and some sites have even created tier listings to rank their popularity. And price.
NMT are essentially lottery tickets to find new villagers on desert islands, and as such, it’s possible to burn through a whole bunch of them when looking for your desired character (particularly considering there are over 400 villagers in New Horizons). On the other end of this, there’s also a lot of people willing to splash NMT on their favourite villager without the painful process of searching dozens of islands. See where this is going?
Finally got Raymond after 255+ NMT! :’) from r/AnimalCrossing
On Discord servers, it’s easy to spot this NMT-villager trading cycle in action, with less popular villagers being sold for between 20-40 NMT, and community favourites like Raymond fetching prices of over 800 NMT. Raymond, specifically, seems to have become some sort of Animal Crossing status symbol as the number one desired villager. Some traders have even developed offer systems whereby players can either bid NMT for a villager, or buy them outright for a steep NMT price.
It’s possible to transfer villagers when they’re at a stage known as ‘in boxes’. Buyers visit an island and talk to the villager to convince them to move back to their island.
Although villager trading forms the core of the NMT economy, the coupons are now being used as currency to buy items on trading sites such as Nookazon, or as I discovered, as an entry fee to sell turnips for a high price. Last Saturday, in my desperation to sell my stocks of turnips before they spoiled the next day, I hit up the trading site Turnip Exchange, where players can open up their islands to the public to sell their turnips. While some kind-hearted folk open up their islands for free (or non-compulsory “tips”), many ask for an entry fee of either Bells, rare items or NMT, ranging from 2 to 20 NMT per trip. It was a similar scene inside the Animal Crossing trading Discords, and as it was the last possible chance to sell turnips, traders were definitely feeling opportunistic – with some asking for as many as 30 NMT for a visit. I opted for selling my turnips for a lower price at a friend’s place.
If you think about it, they’re charging a transaction fee for people exchanging turnips for bells, like a bank. I guess they are visiting a foreign island.
NMT entry fees are also being charged for another form of trading called item cataloguing (or touch trading). This is the process by which the seller drops a rare item on the floor, the buyer picks it up, and then returns the item to the seller. They can then use their Nook Stop machine back at their own island to order the item. So, to be clear, you don’t actually acquire the item – you just unlock the option to buy it.
If you were wondering what stops people just stealing items, you can disconnect the session by putting your Switch on sleep mode, which returns the island to the state it was in before the session began.
There’s a practical element to using NMT as currency, as the game’s actual in-game currency is difficult to move in large amounts. Once a player’s wallet has 99.99k Bells, they stack as 99k each in the player inventory – which can fill up surprisingly fast if you’re wanting to transfer as much as 8m for a villager. NMT, meanwhile, stack 10 at a time – but their perceived value is much higher than a 99k Bell stack, meaning you don’t need to carry as many between islands for trades (with 40 inventory slots and the wallet, you can carry about 4.06m Bells at a time). Bells are also fairly easy to produce thanks to the in-game Stalk Market mechanic, meaning their trading value is reduced. If you’ve ever seen photos of Germans wheeling barrels of Marks around to buy bread during the hyperinflation crisis of the 1920s, it’s a similar situation with Bells. But with less severe consequences.
It’s currently quite difficult to pin down the exact value of NMT, as traders often decide an item or villager’s value on a whim, meaning the exchange rate is constantly in flux. A recent thread on The Bell Tree trading forum currently estimates one NMT as being equivalent to 200k Bells, although some are still buying for 250k. On Nookazon, NMT are currently being listed for around 100k-200k Bells per ticket. So even at their current lowest price, an inventory full of NMT would equate to 40m Bells, ten times the amount an inventory full of Bells would get you – something that’s pretty useful for traders.
If you try to sell a NMT at Nook’s Cranny, however, you’ll only get 10k from Timmy and Tommy. They must be making a fortune selling these onto the market.
And aside from all this, there’s also just the classic currency belief system at play: once people decided NMT had value, people started collecting and trading them for other items – and things escalated to the point we’re at today. Some have speculated that duping is being used to produce hundreds of tickets, but a more likely explanation is people have simply traded their way into acquiring stacks of NMT in order to buy their dream villagers and items, thus producing those ridiculous prices. Will we see further NMT inflation? With so many moving parts to the Animal Crossing trading economy, it’s hard to say.
Of course, if you want to skip the entire in-game grind with real money, it seems that’s now an option. Sensing demand for NMT, dozens of listings have appeared on eBay offering both Bells and Nook Miles tickets for real-world cash, and people seem to be buying them. I guess the tickets could be useful for item trading, but honestly, it’s probably easier just to buy an amiibo if you want a specific villager. Unless you want Raymond, which will set you back £35 for a trade, apparently.
The whole trading economy seems to be getting steadily greedier, and it feels like the community has somehow managed to build its own microtransaction system where there was none: with NMT as a premium currency, and a loot box at the core in the form of Nook Miles Islands. And while villager trading was certainly present in previous games such as New Leaf, the addition of NMT – along with a lot of probably bored people sat inside during lockdown – appears to have pushed trading to new heights. Aside from trading for real-world money, it seems fairly harmless, if a little disturbing given the entire thing is built around trading villagers… and somewhat exploitative of people’s desire to have their favourite character. With this new-found knowledge of Audie’s worth, I hope I won’t start looking at her differently.
