Oh man oh man my major was in spanish literature I love seeing it being talked about
The last ask mentioned Marquez and I just wanna say his other short stories I live and die by!!! Also guillermo del toro also has integrated the magical realism into his films and it's wonderful to see the genre still living
Magical realism is the shit
YEAA!! Ill have to really check out his short stories because ive been getting them recc’d a lot! And YAA i love guillermos movies too, ive seen quite a few like Cronos, Pans Labyrithn, Espinazo del Diablo, Shape of Water, and soo many more. I really love the movies he’s done in spanish, theres so many cool themes explored with children and their autonomy/imagination that is just so awesome. Like in cronos aurora’s relationship with her grandpa *dies* or in espinazo del diablo, all of the lil kids band together to take back their orphanage. Pans labyrinth is probably the one with the most magical realism since theres a whole ass other world that the lil girl travels to multiple times, but its also horrifying.
Sigh. thank u latin america u have given us fa best movies and literature and music ever :,)
