Todojima HCs
Pairing: Todoroki x Yuken (High&low: the Worst X)
A/N: Holy fucknuts, I had no idea these would end up being so long. My Todojima brain rot is really starting to show 💀 Also, I know I switch between past and present tense in this, don’t @ me
Thank you times a thousand to @livelaughlovehyunjin for beta-ing this! 💕
Tumblr media
They never agreed to meet, but Todoroki and Yuken crossed paths on the dock at least once a week
Yuken always thought Todoroki was indifferent to his presence, but there was one week in April when Yuken stayed home sick
And Todoroki noticed
He found that, while still relaxing, fishing just wasn’t as nice without Yuken around
Because when Yuken wasn’t there, Todoroki couldn’t glance at him every few minutes to take in his pretty profile
And Yuken couldn’t pretend not to notice
And yet—
Each man had convinced himself that there was no way the other one could ever want to be with him, albeit for very different reasons
Todoroki was certain that Yuken was far out of his league, and Yuken believed that Todoroki wasn’t a romantic person, period
They were both wrong
But what to do? After all, Yuken knew that Todoroki often stared at him and ask him where he was when he was away
But that didn’t mean he had a crush…right?
But Yuken is too curious to ignore it
So he starts pushing boundaries
Each day at the dock, he inches closer to the stoic, black-haired person next to him
Todoroki should warn him to keep his distance, lest their fishing lines get tangled up
But he doesn’t
Instead, Doroki asks Yuken one day if he’s hungry, suggesting they pause fishing to go to a street food vendor
Yuken knows better than to miss an opportunity, so he nods nonchalantly
But his heart is pounding
They eat for about half an hour, then walk along the riverfront until well after dark
It’s the first time Yuken sees Todoroki smile, and he thinks there’s no way this is actually happening he is so cute but then—
Todoroki laughs
Yuken says something offhand, and Doroki actually laughs
At the same time that Yuken is thinking he needs more of a smiling Todoroki in his weekly routine, Doroki is thinking to himself that this is the first time in a long time he’s actually had fun
Their conversations run for hours and it becomes increasingly evident that they’re on the same wavelength about a lot in life
Including not talking about their feelings
Todoroki doesn’t want to, and Yuken doesn’t need to
They communicate by acts of service and physical touch
Todoroki starts bringing Yuken coffee at Housen so he can recharge between practice fights
And Yuken learns how to properly bandage knuckles so that he can help Todoroki patch up after brawls
Thinking, Maybe if I hold eye contact while I do this, he’ll get the hint??
Doroki’s breath hitches in his throat the first time Yuken does this
Not only because he’s not used to someone doing that for him, but because it’s Yuken and he’s so close and is he holding eye contact on purpose??
One thing that the two have in common is that no one expects passion from them
Todoroki is unwavering, relentlessly coolheaded, and Yuken is an easygoing jokester
But they love the same way that they fight— focused and ferocious
Even then, Yuken was taken aback at Todoroki’s eagerness the first time they kissed
Because Yuken may be an expert flirt, but Todoroki is full of pent-up Gay frustration
Yuken was watching Todoroki practice kicks on the punching bag in his homeroom at Oya, and the little voice in his head had started to become an impatient scream
He moved away from the wall and stilled the punching bag as Doroki watched, also moving closer without realizing it
But Yuken doesn’t stop at that, stepping closer and closer until the only thing keeping them from each other is the bag itself
And neither of them is certain what’s happening, but they know they don’t want it to stop
Yuken moves around the bag until he can feel Todoroki’s breath across his lips, and he’s sure that Todoroki can hear his heart pounding
Their lips meet and it’s strange at first; unfamiliar
Yuken pulls away first, but only barely, to look at Doroki and make sure that this is real
And then it clicks into place
And Doroki is pulling Yuken back to him by the back of his neck, kissing him with such urgency that Yuken has to wonder if he thought about doing this
They both did, many times, and by the time it happens, it’s long overdue
And fishing is never quite the same

who likes ocs? i’m putting my esports girls back up here. it’s like a sports anime, but it’s competitive FPS esports and it’s yuri. here’s some bios and oversights (and a couple of them have designs by @angeban) under the cut
[GAME]
An FPS that’s not Overwatch but like I’m taking a good portion of research from competitive Overwatch.
Takes the League of Legends rules of no doubling characters on the field at any time. So like between the two teams, only one could get the Mercy, only one could get the Tracer, etc. Roster has more “filler” than OW or TF2 where everyone has a specific unique thing so that a team isn’t screwed if the other team gets the only AOE healer.
[TEAM]
MC and gf are third-year high schoolers. Members are middle school to young graduates.
Sort of a dark horse team maybe. This is their second season. They played casually all the time, and got a taste of the competitive scene last season, but didn't do well. In their second season, they're Sport Anime Leads and doing well.
Many parents make appearances in this because few things are more satisfying than when you're really into something competitive like this, and your parents try to act interested and don't get all judgmental all the time.
[Ken] (right)
Tumblr media
Main character. Plays a support character, not a tank or DPS or anything more fight-y. Third-year high school.
Because she's the main support, it's on her to organize everyone, which is why she gets the main character role.
She's their ace player because of her knack (sports anime super power) for scarily-accurate estimations of knowing from approximately where the other players are, how long it will take them to reach her, or other locations.
[Yuka] (above, left)
Plays games, but isn't on the team. Ken teaches her how to play better, though she just doesn't have the mind to pick up major competitive gameplay, and likes to watch her gf win. Third-year high school
Mostly they don't play overfortress together, there are many other genres they're more equal in.
Has a vague unnamed (atm) disease that’s been dormant through high school and will naturally flare up again during the competitive season.
[ship - Yuken]
Met as first year middle schoolers, in the hospital. Ken broke her leg or something, Yuka was in for The Anime Disease and was in and out often. They made friends, and through their entire time in high school, Yuka hadn’t been hospitalized (until she goes back for an angst arc). Got together first year of high school (tentative). “New year, new me, new...love”
They are sugary-soft dorks. Yuka often teases Ken for getting worked up over casually-played video games, but doesn’t tease (or look down on her at all) when it comes to the team.
[Sayuri]
Second-year high school. Plays sniper or balanced offensive depending on what they need
Sees herself as The Most Average. Modest, because she believes nothing she does is a big deal. Does exceptionally well in school, but since she has a hard time explaining anything she does to others, she sees everything as coincidences, luck, just average daily events
The one thing she is proud of is her skill in the game, though it takes her a long time to accept that as well. Her best classes are sniper and straightforward offense, the “average casual” classes. The most she’s willing to praise herself is “above average amongst the average.”
In an LDR with a girl on another team (unnamed), longer story there. Short version they didn’t know they were both competitive players, planning to surprise each other by revealing they play competitively, when they met at a tournament. A little angst about that, and about ever playing together again, but the teams agree it’s fine to date as long as they aren’t slipping secrets to each other because they want their friends/teammates to be happy.
Ren’s younger sister. Sometimes kind of fed up with Ren for being...I have to find a word for it. Like, Outward. Extroversion as her everything, dramatic and just about the opposite of Sayuri. Ren isn’t particularly talented in many fields, but she exaggerates every part of it like she is special, and it turns into a little jealousy and a little insecurity. They get along great most of the time, but Sayuri can be a little closed off and doesn’t share too many details of her life that don’t come up organically.
[Miyako]
Second-year high schooler, dating Kei. Small glasses girl. Jack of all trades player, competent with every character on the roster, but lacks team planning skills.
Often confused for being in middle school, or even as the kid sister of another player. This bothers Kei more than herself, since she knows she can outplay almost anyone at the entire venue 1v1. Is often broke because she spends all money earned on video games.
She only joined the team because her mom forced her to get into group activities, because she really, Really prefers to not be around people. She saw a flier for tryouts for this team at school or online or something, and her mom easily caved like, “Okay, it’s not exactly a sport or club, but I’m glad you’re making friends.”
[Kei]
Tollish genki, dating Miyako. Plays heavy tanks and demolition classes. First-year high school. The only child of two adoptive dads who are very proud of their bright ray of sunshine.
Honestly still working her out some to not make her too generic. (Probably not secret angst this time, she has a happy home life and a good family.)
[ship - Miyakei]
Met on the team itself. Kei latched onto Miyako, because she seemed like the wasn’t enjoying herself. Miyako thought Kei would annoy her, but instead, she made her excited in a way that talking to people usually wasn’t, and going to practice was less dread about having to socialize, and instead something to look forward to since it meant she got to see Kei.
[Aiko]
Tumblr media
Some young adult age or another, works part-time and in is college. Plays tanks. Dating Ren.
Prickly tsun to everyone but dere to the gf once she comes around. Ponytail instead of twintails, shorts and rank A thigh highs.
Bounces between part-time jobs, has trouble getting hired (and then getting hours) because she gives off a bad first impression what with the tsun. Self-conscious of the bad impression she leaves on people.
[Ren]
A few years out of high school. Has a part-time job, not in college. Plays support.
Typical mostly femme, like medium femme, not too high to not be a hardcore gamer. Not the type to fluster to useless when a girl flirts back, but does lose it a little if another girl flirts first
Sayuri’s older sister. Very supportive in general. Very excited when her gay sister gets a gay gf. Like “yell heah little sis you’re in the big leagues now! Get in here it is #selfie time #firstgirlfriend #soproud #whenaretheysmooching”
[ship - Renai]
Ran into each other on two different occasions, and Ren hit on Aiko both times (to Aiko’s annoyance). The third time they crossed paths, Ren left her alone, and Aiko shoved her email written on a receipt at her. Ren’s gay enough to be patient with Aiko while she’s still warming up to her.
[Shizuka]
Third-year middle schooler. Plays glass cannon offensive. Short tempered with the high schoolers, tries to be polite with the adults.
Both the youngest and shortest member of the team. Insists she’ll have a growth spurt and be taller than all of them; she will not, nor will she ever grow the Big Tit. Everyone respects her as a gamer, she’s got great reaction time and aim.
Kei tends to tease her for “cringe” and “wow was I that embarrassing when I was young?” Kei is only a year older and is not that different, the adults think it’s funny that she thinks there’s that much of a difference between them.
[Sumiko]
Graduated high school a year previously, going into college. Mains tank, but competent enough in other roles to change.
Tol bishoujo; long, straight hair probably. Never loses her outward chill, and is a very graceful loser, meaning she’s the comforting one whenever the team loses.
In general, a very gentle, soft, caring person, and open to making friends, but intimidating if you don’t know that. Quick to “lose her temper” though, in that she becomes stern (and more intimidating) and will lecture whoever needs a firm talking-to. Those who don’t know her only find her More intimidating when they see her seemingly-coldly talking down to somebody for their own good
