Recently got a new CSP brush set and wanted to test them out by doodling some of the XS cast (and also some of my OCs as well)

It's also an excuse for me to show you guys how I color code them in doodles and small comics in the future lol

finally posting on this blog instead o my main. anyways. for my 2010s AU the backstory for Wuya is a lil bit different but otherwise the same. Gezi is a new character for the AU and more about him and Wuya's backstory under here ...

Wuya is the embodiment of evil and darkness and yadda yadda. but she is only one half of a greater being. she is the yin to the yang of Gezi, who embodies all that is good and kind in the world and bla bla. they used to be one being of balance and harmony, til they were split up due to differing ideals and Wuya falling for Dashi lollll. like they both really like Dashi but Wuya wanted him for selfish reasons and decided to split with Gezi to pursue the monk lol. they DID hit it off but then the balance of the world was all wacky and Dashi was like. ok u gotta stop doing this and she Refused. so like Dashi had to seal both Wuya and Gezi away together to make sure that balance would stay in place. or something. still working on it LOL. but yeah they;re like brother and sister but also the same being and also they want to kill each other violently. Gezi is not 100% in the right ever bc he is more concerned with the "good" side and keeping everyone in check bc he sucks. he takes justice way too seriously and tries to off anything that's "bad" / won't agree with his point of view lol

Chapter 14 of Fragile Things is now live!

wuya has no illusions about his mother. he knows she abandoned him. told him to wait in the woods, somewhere in the physical world. with no way back into the fae realm. too young to really comprehend right away what was happening, or to really understand why. he waited until someone found him, and had he not been found he probably would of withered away and died. guy was probably the fae equivalent of two or three years old when this happened. ( 29-33? )

his fear of abandonment is deep set in who he is. accompanied by this feeling that he doesn't actually belong anywhere. his story, his character- is all just meant to play out next to someone else. in another's shadow.

NRC is the best and worst thing to ever happen to him. as his phobia was really not an issue until he suddenly had friends. wuya does a pretty good job of not showing his insecurities, but over time? yanno,,, some things peek through...

My very first OC! Updated to make sense, lol!

Originally, she was the daughter of Grand Master Dashi and Wuya (my cousin and I were around 8 when we came up with our game) (my cousin's OC was just Grand Master Dashi's son, named Dashi. We were Maria and Dashi Xiaolin, and we were 1,500 and some odd years old, and Maria was Raimundo's gf, and Dashi was Kimiko's bf -it made sense to us because our OCs weren't adults, they were kids like the monks don't ask questions WE WERE EIGHT lol)

This is the current (corrected) Maria Young, daughter of the Evil Heylin Witch, Wuya, and Chase Young (I still haven't worked out exactly how yet. It's MY OC, and I can do what I want!) Dashi still exists to me (I'm not drawing him bc I don't feel like it)(they're adoptive brother and sister now bc story reasons). Story reasons dictate that Dojo was tasked with escorting a 12 year old Maria and a 14 year old Dashi into the future (current Xiaolin Showdown time)

I headcannon that the Xiaolin dragons (with the exception of Omi bc he trained so hard) started to show their powers with the onset of puberty (they are at that age) and along with all that, Maria begins to have trouble with her Heylin magic and lizard transformation (because the Lao Mein Long soup altered Chase's biology and the lizard transformation is now hereditary)

Maria isn't Xiaolin Dragon of anything. She and Dashi are just additions to the team with their own Xiaolin/Heylin powers.

Maria doesn't know who her parents are (she thinks Grand Master Dashi is her dad bc he took her in as an infant) (she was raised in the temple)

Omi's trip to the past is what spurred Grand Master Dashi into deciding to send his kids to the future to help in the battle against Wuya and the growing Heylin forces.

Maria doesn't like Master Monk Guan bc she thinks he's too strict.

Dojo and Master Fung know Maria's heritage. They're waiting for "the right time to tell her".

Maria is trying really hard to conceal her transformation troubles (she's starting to get suspicious). She's afraid the other Monks will think she's Evil and banish her from the temple.

She obviously gets an Evil Arc. Lol

I jumped through so many hoops to export this! Lol... I forgor my login stuff and so don't have Tumblr on iPad so I have to do tricks to get it on my phone... for some reason.

I tried to make her look like her parents. I blended Chase and Wuya's skin tones and got Maria's. Then I picked one eye color, tried to mix the nose, and eye shapes.

I decided to outline Maria's hair in Wuya's hair color and then fill it in with black and finally added Chase's green highlights (I originally didn't think it would work, but I did color picking and comparing and like, a very similar red shows up in Chase's pallet sooooo)

I had shading practice. I tried really hard to make these characters look like they belonged in the same space. I went so far as to redraw Chase and Wuya with my lineart style.

I brought up a picture of Kimiko to try and reference her shapes and look (and outfit).

A few people guessed that RJ and Wuya were going to team up, with a couple even guessing it as soon as he first showed up lol. I was pretty happy that people picked up on that one.

💖 What made you start writing?

man, I can remember the exact moment. I'd never really liked writing, though I did like making up stories, but I hated the physical act of writing since it was difficult for me and I didn't really like the structured writing we had to do for class, even when it was creative writing. But in fifth grade, I had an IEP that allowed me to use the computer for writing assignments. And sometimes when I finished my work early or had extra time after class (I stayed late after school to take a different bus) I'd have time to play around on the computer a bit. So one day I wrote up the first chapter of a story about my OCs (a bunch of crime-fighting fox characters I called the Freedom Foxes. I was 10 years old). I printed it out to show to my friends, and then my teacher asked to see it, so I showed it to her.

It wasn't that she told me it was good, which she did. It was that later that day the principal came by to visit the class and my teacher pulled out my story and showed it to her and went, "Look what Noa wrote! Isn't this great?" and the principal was like "Wow! This is incredible!"

Nobody had ever reacted to something I wrote like that. And it was special to me because this wasn't something I'd written for an assignment. This was something I'd written for myself and my friends, about my own characters, and my teacher thought it was so good that the principal needed to see it. That was the first thing that made me feel like writing could be fun and fulfilling instead of just a chore that I hated to do.

Then the next year I made it to the state level of the local student writing competition with a short story about my cat. And a few years after that I discovered fanfiction. So yep.

It depends, but I usually come up with at least a rough outline. At the very least I have a vague chain of events written down so I know which plot beats I need to hit.

oh im figuring it out now for my 2010s AU... random rambling time ok so. once Wuya is released by Jack Spicer, the whole show starts happening and stuff yknow. but also! Gezi (my OC / Wuya's other half in this AU) is stuck in a puzzle box as well. he can be released later on but that's bc the monks cannot figure out how to open the box Yet. oh and Gezi was imprisoned bc of the law of balance, Dashi knew if there was only good in the world it would be put off balance and the world would end. so he imprisoned both Wuya and Gezi in two different puzzle boxes. Gezi's puzzle box is in the Xiaolin temple while Wuya's was hidden elsewhere. so like. Wuya is released, Jack and the monks fight over shen gong wu, yadda yadda. but uhhh Chase Young has been watching the entire time bc he's waiting for the perfect moment to use and manipulate Omi and also Wuya. he asks Wuya to separate his "shadow" from him aka the last remaining innocence and good in his heart so he has a 0% chance to hesitate ruling the world nd manipulating Omi onto the dark side and whatever. so that's how Shade is introduced, he is basically the Yang to Chase's Yin. he cannot kill Shade because if one of Chase or Shade dies, they both die. so he has to deal with the younger, nicer version of himself. he tries to sway Shade into evil doing tho (he's bad at it) and then ummmmm. oh yeah Wuya and Gezi used to be one being (Tian) but then they split up into two humanoid beings because Tian fell for Dashi lmao. initially Wuya just teased and acted annoying, causing mischief around the temple. but Gezi was very... uptight and mean to Wuya. but they both really cared for Dashi. eventually Wuya goes entirely evil mode, causing mayhem and chaos mainly bc of how cruel Gezi was to her. they are both the same being, half and half, so its basically self hatred (so like it kinda reflects Chase and Shade). anyways Wuya founded the Heylin side to combat Gezi and the Xiaolin in general bc shes so mad. Shes sooo mad at her brother/other half. so like. she's become hateful and angry and betrayed by the Xiaolin. they treated Gezi so well and treated her like dirt. before she is imprisoned by Dashi, she leaves her darkest influence in a mortal i think (probably whoever im going to replace Roy Bean with LOLLL i hate that fucking legume). so her follower / minion / whatever is able to trick Chase Young into drinking that damn soup. so now he has to drink that soup to stay human-looking / keep his sanity. he's immortal and has become the dark prince of the Heylin or whatever. he liked Wuya before she went full evil but even afterwards he was kinda wooed by her raw power. Wuya's stupid boytoy demon minion thing was able to change their shape to trick Chase by posing as Guan and bla bla bla. anyways thats what i have So far... thenks if u read <:)
