Ning Yun's Students// In context with Jttw version
Firstly, let's go over the timeline-
Ning Yun gets cast down from the celestial realm during Wukong's 500 year imprisonment under the mountain
Ning Yun meets Yao Kang near the end of that imprisonment, basically raising him.
Yao Kang is twenty four when he and Ning Yun come across the "Fellowship of the Scriptures"
Quin Chi is fifteen when Ning Yun and the pilgrims find him and Ning Yun takes him in.
-----------------
Ning Yun's' students are like... his emotionally adopted children. So don't fuck with them.
The reason they stick around here, and not in Ning Yun's OG story, is because here, Ning Yun actually found the value in companionship because of his relationship with Wukong (and the platonic relationship with Nezha, which I will explain later) Whereas, in his OG story, he never had anyone try to bring him out of the archives before he was cast out. Thus, he remained solitary. His students pick up on the solitary nature, and inevitably leave. With Jttw Ning Yun, Yao Kang sees that Ning Yun is... lonely, and thus stays with him as he wanders around and comes across the pilgrims.
Wukong, when he sees Ning Yun again, is excited, then confused when he notices Yao Kang. Basically-
Wukong, jealous monkey mode activated: Who tf is this? 🤨 Ning Yun: *withering glare* My student. Do. Not. Touch. Him. Wukong: Ohhhh- *totally not feeling things at seeing Ning Yun's glare again* Yao Kang: (gif down below as he senses the tension)

OC Bio: Yao Kang
Tumblr media
[Did not expect my poll to get so many votes so quickly avhdva well, time to share more Celestial Archivist lore with Ning Yun's first student]
Name: Yao Kang
Meaning of Name: "Yao" handsome, good-looking, rich, abundant, exuberant (and many more meanings according to internet hhhh). "Kang" healthy, abundant, ginger, or river.
Sex: masculine
Gender: male
Age: 28
Species: human
Class: sorcerer
Title: none
Magic: minor offensive magic, sealing magic, exorcism, protection talismans
Fighting Style: When fighting demons or spirits, he uses his magic. When fighting people? He will use a shortsword. He's skilled in sword and magic (sword and sorcery boyo)
Faction: none
Appearance: messy brown hair (used to be long but he cut it. Why? Cause his long hair kept getting caught on things and so he got too frustrated), dark eyes, and fair skin
Personality: Yao Kang is an energetic person who can be very smart, yet also very dumb in a span of two seconds. Though he does not act very seriously, he does understand the severity of things, and will act accordingly. Despite being an orphan, he does not wallow in the misfortune, much to everyone's surprise.
Backstory: Yao Kang's family were killed when a group of bandits attacked his home town. He, and several others were made orphans in this event. As a result, Yao Kang turned to petty thievery to survive. He would one day run away into the forest and get lost, which is where he'd meet Ning Yun. Ning Yun would sense a strong affinity for magic in Yao Kang, and see promise in him. This would lead to Ning Yun taking Yao Kang under his wing.
Yao Kang would resist this at first, but Ning Yun, seeing the kid all by himself with no one to care for him, would not take no for an answer. Eventually, Yao Kang begrudgingly allows it, and slowly starts to see Ning Yun as a sort of father figure over time.
Fandoms: black myth wukong (obviously. Wherever Ning Yun is, his students are bound to follow)
Ships: none yet
Other Significant People: Ning Yun (his "Shifu" and father figure) Quin Chi (brother in arms) Lai Yan (his student)
Ling Chen (childhood friend whom was also made an orphan during the bandit attack)
