Character Inspiration Tag Game
Tagged by @the-letterbox-archives
I figured I would do Kit because I know you like him a lot!
So actually the very original idea for Untitled 3 was inspired by a completely mediocre anime that will remain nameless because I can't stress enough how totally mid it is. And even watching the audacity of the anime team trying to do a last-minute "no homo" in the final two episodes and completely failing to even stick the landing does not make up for watching the rest of it. In general I can say that what came from here was the idea of two idiot teenage boys (one of whom is a prince) from different worlds who argue constantly, and then it turns out that one of them is actually from that world originally and they have a deeper connection than random chance.
Of course in mine, it's Kit's family who's from that world, not Kit himself.
Otherwise I took a lot of inspiration from various mythology, the idea of them being geas bound due to a blood oath, for instance.
For Kit's personality I mostly just started with what kind of behavior would be the most annoying to Anrikas, and what kind of person Kit would have to be in order to say those things. And of course, what sort of upbringing would lead to that kind of behavior. His personality did evolve a lot throughout the course of writing the first draft though. I can't believe that in my original plans he was the more emotionally stable one, it just doesn't make sense that somebody who acts like him would fill that particular role.
But there is a sneaky Easter egg here.
Actually, Kit's design and partially his family's situation/history was inspired by Illsaide and his mother from Vampire Game, one of my all time favorite manga that nobody else has ever heard of. The whole plot arc about Illsaide, the Sea King, and the Sea King's daughter has lived in my head rent free since 2006 or something, and when I realized I was going to end up writing something similar I couldn't help it hahaha
Anyway, that's the reason that Kit and all of the other seafolk have red hair. Additionally, his design and even some of his behaviors were also modeled on Yuujin from the same manga who I was and still am obsessed with.
Here's an example of him being annoying, I don't have many pics on hand but I DO have this one.
Otherwise when coming up with his race I took a lot of inspiration from myths about sirens and selkies, and also a little bit of unicorn lore from some certain books, for some reason? Not sure how that worked its way in there but it did. There's a teensy bit of inspiration from stuff like Song of the Wanderer and The Last Unicorn. And also legends about the Seelie court and other folklore about being spirited away.
That's basically it though, the rest of it all came about just from writing.

TLDR:
Imma be honest, I’m losing interest in WWE real quick. And, as much as it pains me to say, I’m losing that extreme love for seeing Becky on my screen.
It has absolutely nothing to do with her as a person, or her as an individual character. I 100% adore her, and I wish her a long reign as the RAW women’s champ. I think she’s one of the most real characters, one of the most real people, and seeing her smile on-screen doesn’t do her actual smile any justice. Trust me on that.
I shouldn’t have to lose interest or love in a character on-screen because of their relationship in real life. No one should have to lose interest or love in a character because of that. That’s why we have television programs, and movies; to escape reality. Admittedly, I’ve had my issues with Seth for a bit, however nothing ever negated the fact that I’m happy for them. They deserve it, and you can tell they’ve fallen hard for each other. Good for them, truly. My heart goes out to their real-life relationship.
However, when it’s obvious that a big-name company is diluting Becky’s recent, personal achievements -- when it’s obvious they’re attempting to lessen her star-power as an individual -- it’s something that I can’t ignore. It’s something I shouldn’t have to ignore. It’s something that makes me uncomfortable to watch, primarily because Becky and Seth have accomplished so much in recent months, yet now this is the focus. Their real-life relationship is a kayfabe focus, somehow, someway, all because WWE wants to exploit their joint star-power.
Becky can’t be on screen without Cole mentioning, “Her boyfriend -- Universal champion Seth Rollins,” and the same goes for Seth. It’s not even an Easter egg, or a random name-drop. The first time? Okay. The second time? Fine, it’ll slide. The third? A coincidence. The fourth? I don’t have an excuse. The fifth? Okay, now you’re obsessed.
When I initially complained about Paul Heyman mentioning that Seth’s girlfriend main-evented WM whereas Seth couldn’t get the job done, I obviously didn’t know what I was in for. When I complained about Becky being by Seth’s side when he was pummeled by Brock and had to be taken in an ambulance, I obviously didn’t know what I was in for. I was told those were “subtle” mentions, and that it would subside.
It didn’t.
Before they came out as a couple, their paths never -- okay: very seldom -- crossed. They never interacted. Their arcs had squat to do with love. Now? We have them sitting next to each other before interviews/commercials. We have them passing each other in the hallway. We have their names mentioned every time they’re on screen, or bound to be on screen. We have Lacey getting involved in Seth’s storyline, then Becky and Seth closing out a PPV together all giddy.
Yeah. The same woman who just made history at WM, the same woman who created such a goddamn buzz in the industry that big-name celebs are lining up to hang with her, the same woman who willed her way into this push... she’s now slowly being deduced to who she’s dating.
For all of you who told me I was overreacting, for all of you who tried making this a shipping conspiracy: Do you see what I mean now?
Let me reiterate: I’m happy for Becky and Seth, in real life. I wish them a happy relationship, and long runs with the their titles/the company. I’m not saying that Becky doesn’t deserve to have a personal life/relationship, and that everything should be about work, work, work. It’s important to remember that the top women in the world have men/women by their sides, and that’s what life’s about. Being happy, and having a companion to succeed with.
It’s also important to remember that relationships don’t define a person, nor should they dictate a person’s path in life. Absolutely not.
So, I’m not sure what this lengthy post is saying, exactly, but it’s not good. I can feel my interest and love for Becky’s future in the company slipping away, and I hate that I feel that way. I should be dedicated, right? I should stick by her side no matter what, right?
Unfortunately, sometimes that’s not enough. Call me dramatic, okay, but her story is what got me 100% back into wrestling. It’s what motivated me, and kept me focused on something. Now? I’m terrified to even see her on my screen. I still get heart-eyes, but then there’s that creeping sensation on the back of my tongue. I know what’s bound to happen, or what’s bound to be brought up. I know what it ultimately means, too:
Becky’s relationship with Seth is more important to the WWE than keeping Becky on a solid track of being one of the company’s strongest, most focused women.

@inevitablefan-ne-girl said: I have never had lemon Oreo thins... I'll have to try them. They sound good! I'm obsessed with Double Stuff Oreos!! :)
They’re the most delicious. Regular Lemon Oreos are good, too, but I am really into the cookie-to-filling ratio on the Thins. They’re light, refreshing, and too addictive for me to be allowed to buy on the regular.
@jemmablossom said: Fandom Grandmas + Hufflepuffs unite! They make Lemon Oreo thins? I need these in my life. Lemon flavoured things are amazing. Although I'm not sure they will have them here in the UK. I love that you do improv comedy too, such a fun interest to have.
Yesss I’m obsessed with all things lemon flavored or scented. They’re fairly new, so maybe they’ll come overseas soon!
@catchylove said: oh, the sunrise scene is an excellent choice! it's lovely to see them talking and understanding each other and just clearing the air - beautiful! and improv comedy, that's amazing! one of my high schools had an improv team - it seems so difficult! it's really cool you've got the skills for that!
I love the sunrise scene so much. It’s just so lovely. And improv is fun! It is difficult to do well, and I don’t know that I can claim to do truly it well haha. One of my favorite things about it, actually, is how simple it is-- no script, no props, you can do improv anywhere, even with just a little training. I definitely recommend that anyone who’s ever interested in it take a level 1 class, if nothing else-- it’s so fun, and in level 1, there’s no pressure to do it right. You’re just playing.
@nerdlove4thewin said: I want to see The Big Sick so badly! It looks like such a heartwarming movie :). And I agree with you, I can't choose who my other favorite pos characters are either! They're all so great :)
It is very heartwarming, but also manages to be hilarious. I honestly think it’s one of my favorite movies I’ve seen in recent years. I also love Kumail and Emily so much, and want to support them, so I definitely recommend seeing it while it’s in theaters!
@consoledacup said: I LOVE BRUNCH. My love for it knows no bounds. I don't care how basic it is for me to say that. I love it. Never had lemon oreos -- they actually sound really yummy! That's an interesting thing to say that it depends on the story arc... because I freaking love Daisy this season more than any other season.
Brunch is my favorite food. I can’t get enough brunch. I have an eggs Benedict deficiency and the only thing that can fix it is MORE BRUNCH. Definitely try Lemon Oreos (the regular or Thins) if you find ‘em. And yeah, Daisy has definitely been a favorite of mine-- but there have also been storylines where she bugged me. It just depends!
@the-nerdy-stjarna said: My husband was part of an improv comedy group when we still lived in the States and I took two courses with them. It's so much fun!
That’s awesome! It’s definitely a lot of fun. You should see if you can find an improv scene in Iceland-- I’m sure it’s there! If you do ever go see Icelandic (or English-speaking-but-in-Iceland) improv, please tell me all about it!
