The other person is correct. You sound kinda pretencious and like you don't get how fanfics work. Try to make something instead of trying to drag talented artists for being fun and successful.
bruh...
i literally write fanfic. all the time. and a lot of it is fluff, or it wouldn't be five volumes.
#i'm going to assume good faith because i'm nice like that#i love fluff! i love nice lighthearted affairs!#my favorite short fics are all cute hurt/comfort fics!#but those short fluff fics... actually understand the characters and make interesting observations about them and#DON'T make people bullied for liking snakes make friends with their bullies over a snake!#again i do not want to make this A Thing! i'm just a weird internet stranger and i only talk about morningmark because people make#it A Thing. like i have zero platform i don't pose any threat to your favorite artist don't worry about it just let me be Wrong on the#Internet in peace#my main deal isn't even the owl house i think the owl house is amazing and addressed every single issue i would have written a fic about#perfectly#god tier show#i do weird rewrites of stories no one but me cared about! i'm just sitting here queerly being a precious little boy. you wouldn't send weir#anon hate to a precious baby boy would you?#to reiterate my main gripe with morningmark is that all his examinations of characters is surface level. i'm NOT saying he's a bad artist o#morally wrong or not funny. i just don't like it. claim it's jealousy all you want or maybe i'm just a hater. who knows

I got some points taken off for grammar and I didn’t fix all of it here fair warning
Luz and Breaking Expectations
I think the biggest theme of the Owl house as a show is breaking expectations! From breaking societal expectations of neurotypicality or heteronormativity, to breaking the expectations the show itself sets up, Like Luz learning to do magic without the required biology. There are so many examples of Breaking expectations in Luzs arc but honestly if I sat here and typed them all out I think we’d both be here for days. So I'm only going to go over the biggest examples of this, but first some context!
Luz is a character from the 2020 show the owl house. Now despite it being a cartoon the owl house and shows like it have a lot of depth even if they're usually 2D.
Luz Noceda is a very multifaceted character.
Luz and first Impressions
Her first introduction gives the impression of a typical Disney TVa female Heroine, Optimistic to a fault naïve and the weird girl. however this impression is just that a first impression, A faulty representation of her character based off of a few factors.
Luz at first seems to be yet another example of the not like the other girls trope. In the first episode its made clear that she is “weird” The event setting of the show being her almost being sent to a summer camp to help rein in her creativity. However the reason luz is sent isn't because she's “too creative” Its more that her creativity drove her to bring snakes to school for a book report. The Camp was to help ground her.
Luz isn't chosen by destiny or some greater force to do anything. While I do like the chosen one trope I always found it takes something away from the character. Being the chosen one takes away from a character's agency. While it gives a simple answer to the question of what is my future, More times than not it gives a character a goal that isn't their own. Every step they take towards that goal, consciously or otherwise, feels disconnected from the character's Character.
While the idea of Luz being the chosen one is presented, there is a whole episode of time spent exploring the idea of the chosen one by the end however it becomes clear she is not any kind of chosen one, just a normal teenager with weird interests and hobbies .
speaking of being different,
Luz and neurodiversity.
Luz is canonically Neurodiverse which is amazing! Characters who are canonically neurodiverse are quite rare. That being said, I think that the themes of neurodiversity go deeper than the surface level.
See, Luz is in a world not really built for her, being human and unable to biologically use magic.
When she discovers the glyph system, a system of magic based around using symbols to command magic she finds a work around however, never is it implied that Luz’s magic is somehow less valid then natural magic. While her method to success is completely unorthodox she is not treated by the narrative as a lesser witch. I'm writing from my own experience here but I think that it’s a really good positive representation of what it's like to be ND. The thing is the world is in many ways built for Neurotypical people.
It’s not “if you try hard enough you can be just like everyone else” Instead The Message we needed was “accept your limits, you can't do everything and that doesn't make you any less valid than anyone else” Its a message a lot of people who are different need but it hits hard for me especially.
School and the world i guess, assumes everyone can do everything those who can't are called Lazy or stupid sometimes both. It's nice for someone to say “its okay you don't have to be perfect” Sincerely for once.
Luz is one of the first canonically sapphic main Disney characters. As the protagonist of the show that is a big deal! It's not even like Luz blushed at one girl and one guy and the crew went “HEY LOOK REPRESENTATION!!!“ no The amazing team behind the owl house went further,Luz Is canonically bisexual and likes another girl! Its even a plot point that has Multiple episodes dedicated to it And Spoilers!! The girl, named Amity, ends up being her girlfriend. Let me say that again! One of Disney Tvas biggest shows has A bisexual main character who ends up in a Sapphic relationship! As a LGBT kid myself, this means so so much to me! When I was younger There was next to nothing, I mean sure we had relationships that were heavily implied,or even lightly implied but aside from say Steven Universe, there was nothing. And i, a Queer kid raised in a environment that didn't even acknowledge those feelings,When i began to have feelings for the people i did, I never expressed them because i wasn't allowed to feel what i did. then i saw someone like me for the first time. They weren't bad or evil, just normal and so was there love, they didn't become canonically a couple until the end of the show. And knowing that Luz and Amity can and probably will be that much sooner for young queer kids now, means a lot to me. Plus Luz and Amity are a really cute couple.
… Why does this matter?
I think fiction is more validating then people give it credit for. Being yourself is more complicated then a lot of people think, Especially for the “other”. Other gender, sexuality, race whatever. It's hard to be who you are if you never see anyone like you or anyone deviate from the norm. Even if she's not necessarily “real” Luz is that for a lot of people, Someone who’s different in a way she has no control over and its not bad. Let me say that again, It's Not bad. There is no conflict over her being different no campy be yourself or don't be cruel based on factors someone cant control messages while both are important its so nice just to see Luz be allowed to Be.
so often those narratives put blame on the other for not “Standing up for themselves” Or Not being able to show someone the light. ITs frustrating at times, And Luz is one the first protagonists I've seen. That isn't like that. she's just Luz, labels aside above all she's Luz, and I think that's pretty cool.
Oh fuck I forgot about the Luz essay I wrote for shcool till just now
#long post#my essays#luz the owl house#also there’s some spelling mistakes because I wrote this at midnight in a frenzy the night before
