I'm glad totk has no connection to the previous ganon (oot-onwards) because it would totally ruin him as a character.

Honestly I consider totk ganondorf separate even from botw, because I do love the idea of botw ganon being a completely self-dehumanized, seething, eldritch representation of this ageless grudge no one has any context for anymore, so he might as well be understood as a natural disaster or a vicious plague. I find this incredibly juicy!! Buuuut to me it only works within the context of a dozen other games building the ground up for this goopy, demonic, hateful incarnation with too many limbs and far too many angry eyes.

If you decide to connect BotW Ganon to TotK Ganondorf however.... like. I'm sorry, but. Sir, you are not this angry. You have zero reason to be anywhere near this level of rancor. You haven't even been stabbed, ever!!!! You never had your wish ripped out from under you!!!! You have never been forced to rot away in the void while fully aware of every agonizing second for centuries, not even a single time!!!! And honestly TotK Ganondorf does kind of feel like a toddler, gleeful to discover his own capacity for destruction for the first time. Which. I guess that could have been, something? I don't know, to me it's still pretty stupid and inconsistent honestly. But either way, that is not Dislocated Screeching Essence of a Mad Pig material.

TotK Ganondorf has no grudge, and as far as we know (which is insane!!!! this guy's core characterization is envy, yet he doesn't have this corrosive toxic energy at all in totk!!! he's far too happy to be here and break stuff just because, and like sir you are a grown man you've been a king for decades what are you so giddy aboutttt), the worse he had to suffer through in totk, as far as the game tells us, was a temporary humiliation. Which could absolutely be motivating for sure, but it feels very human and political and measured. Not "I will shred my own skin and forget my own name and suffer death a thousand times over just to show you all the depths of my hate" levels of fury. Again, to remove our familiarity to the character as players cheapens decades of buildup, and!!!!!!! anyway. Anyway.

Here’s a set of characters I created a few years ago for a small kingdom I made!

It’s a coastal kingdom which is famous for its large colosseum!

King Carrion

He/They

Seventh in line for the throne, Carrion was a mistreated, sickly prince (so much so that his family literally named him something that means carcass 💀). Looked down upon constantly, this guy wasn’t really guaranteed any future of any kind.

When a pandemic swept through his kingdom, however, he found himself as the only survivor due to living in a separate place (due to being ostracized) which saved his life. Now finding himself as the ruler of his small nation, he tries his best to keep his kingdom afloat despite being very unqualified for the task…

His face (along with parts of his body) is disfigured from abuse and mistreatment. He hides it behind a mask/prosthetic.

He’s incredibly shy and self-deprecating, but he is trying his best for his people.

Tries to keep up airs of a “competent and mysterious” ruler, but he’s really having a panic attack on the inside lol

Collected his guards with the help of Nexus. Honestly is like one of those dads that gets bullied by his kids

Nexus (guy with large star blast on his face)

He/Him

A skeleton of unknown origin. He applied to be a knight at an early age and worked his way up to be King Carrion’s personal guard. A extremely skilled and capable knight despite his origins and disability.

His right arm is actually missing! He doesn’t talk about how he lost it often.

A super chill guy, almost like nothing bugs him at all.

He doesn’t tend to have any presence whenever in a room full of people, and kind of doesn’t speak much unless spoken to.

Married his war buddy for tax benefits

Genuinely cares for Carrion despite everything the king has been through. Very loyal to him.

Neutral towards the other guards, but likes to mess with Soup a little lmao

Soup

He/They

A descendant of a sub species of skeletons that originate in one of the most unloveable, hostile places on the continent. Built to survive and adapt, these people were referred to as “the warrior tribes”, known for their immense strength, keen instincts, and violent behavior.

Works as one of King Carrion’s Guard, has a special role as a “Royal Executioner”

Part-Time works at the colosseum as a gladiator (although he dresses closer to a show pony 💀)

Currently in a situationship /lh

Annoyed with Nexus but he’s his superior sooooooo

Trains Caviar but also just likes fighting them lol

Steals Muffin’s food 60% of the time

Caviar

She/They/It

A young sea beast that has the capability to shape shift into a massive leviathan, known for causing typhoons and sinking countless of ships.

Works as one of King Carrion’s guard, usually works as a speedy alternative to sea travel.

Was mistaken as a merfolk by an underground business and was taken from her mother. She later bonded with a few other kidnapped children at their facility located in the middle of the ocean. She ended up single-handedly destroying half of the compound, and escaping with most of the other children to the nearest kingdom (which happened to be Carrion’s kingdom).

Loves to swim around and eat lots of fish, as well as caviar (lmao)

Likes to bug Muffin for snacks

Play fights with Soup lots

A living suit of armor. Well, more technically, he’s a spirit that inhabits a suit of armor (kind of similar to/inspired by Mad Dummy in Undertale)

Works as one of King Carrion’s guard, less so actually doing his job and more so being a glorified cook.

A gentle giant, would rather not want to fight and instead resolve things peacefully

Who's your favorite warrior cat?

Ohhh god I have a few that fluctuate so I'll give you my fav from each arc! Under the cut cause this is going to get long.

TPB: Whitestorm

Whitestorm had been my all time fav cat for a while until I started rereading the series and realized I really like other cats too lol. His friendship with Tigerstar is so interesting and tragic in a way that Dark and Long's can't since they were childhood friends. Whitestorm grew up with Tigerstar who wasn't always the piece of shit he is. Watching from the sidelines as his friend chooses a new friend group and goes down a dark path must suck. And then Tigerclaw attacks Bluestar and not only does he have to deal with his grief, but Bluestar's as well. They even both die in the same battle. Amazing character. Highly recommend this MAP if you haven't seen it.

TNP: Crowfeather

OUGHHHHH CROWFEATHER HATERS FUCK OFF /j you are fine but God I love him. This arc also was my fav before I read TBC. Found family is so beautiful and the traveling group from this book makes me so happy. Crowfeather especially. I love reserved guy who is forced into a found family dynamic that he would do anything for. His relationship with Feathertail is cute as shit and then naming himself after her is 🥺🥺🥺. I'm not a fan of LeafCrow, but looking at them from the lens of rebound that he gets in too deep with is dramatic and really engaging for me. I love his relationship with Breezepelt after they reconcile. I wish he was still friendly to Bramblestar and Squirrelflight tho.

POT: Lionblaze

No. I'm not kidding. I fucking love Lionblaze. Sorry. He's the most relatable character out of the three to me. He feels like a monster. He hurts everyone around him and is so scared of continuing to do so. His relationship with Heathertail was cute until he hurt her, and after that he was scared. Ashfur being such an awful mentor to him probably didn't help at all especially since he had Tigerstar mentoring him at night. When he does find out who his parents actually are, I like how Lionblaze's relationship with them ended up best. His relationship with even Crowfeather is nice. I don't understand people who say he's boring. He's loyal, he's been through a lot, and he stands up for what he believes.

OOTS: Ivypool

This one is hard because I don't actually feel that strongly about a lot of the characters in this arc despite liking the arc itself quite a lot. I chose Ivypool because, again, most relatable. I do really like her spy thing with the Dark Forest. I like anything to do with the Dark Forest tho lol. Her jealousy of Dovewing hits pretty hard too. Other than that idk. I don't really have a lot to say about her.

DOTC: River Ripple/Riverstar

I don't have a ton to say about him either. I think he's the most reasonable of the leaders. He also was there before the mountain cats so I feel less weird about him starting a group in the forest. His super edition was interesting for sure, I like his relationships with Night and Arch. I also really enjoyed his interactions with Gray Wing. I think meditation should have been something that passed down in RiverClan but fuck me I guess.

AVOS: Needletail

She is a contender for top fav character. She's just like me for real. Everything about her is perfect. She's the rebellious little bitch apprentice that makes friends with the anxious goody two paws medicine cat apprentice on the journey she invited herself on. She's so funny. Her relationship with Alderheart is the cutest ever and they are probably my fav non canon ship. I mean. She and him are basically Violetshine and Twigbranch's parents idc what you say. And then the whole thing with Darktail's Kin. Fuckkk she was played so bad. When she changed her mind about it it was basically already too late for her, but she still did everything she could including giving her life to save everyone else. I love that trope. Selfish to gives their life for the ones they unconsciously have come to love? Best ever. Please watch this MAP if you haven't it hurts.

TBC: Rootspring

My fav arc. And this man. Fuck. I love a lot of characters a lot in this arc (Ashfur, Snowtuft, Juniperclaw) but they don't come close to Rootspring. I kin him a lot too. His whole thing with accepting his ghost sight and his closeness with Tree is awesome. His thing with Bramblestar is cute. I was unsure how I'd feel about him and Bristlefrost but by the end of the arc they became my fav canon ship. His crush on her and how all the fucking clans tease him about it is hilarious. Give the little guy a break lol. His friendship with Shadowsight is cute too. He just has a lot of interesting relationships which is kinda rare in warriors. And then everything in the Dark Forest is why this arc is so good but good lord. The end after Bristlefrost dies forever and Rootspring is still looking for her in StarClan when he knows she won't be there. That she won't be anywhere forever. That was the first time warriors made me shed tears in a LONG time. I think one reason I love him so much is that in warriors death is never the end of a character or their relationships. For Rootspring it is. It's like real life. And so he mourns like we mourn. Knowing there is nothing left. And it's heart wrenching.

ASC: Nightheart(?)

So I'm only halfway through this arc. I can't say for sure who my fav is yet. In fact I'm still fixated on the last arc so idk how much I even care about any of these characters but at least I can relate to Nightheart's family drama in a way. I'll update you all when I finish the arc maybe if you remind me.

I don't Mordred understands that his role in this mission is nothing more than just ensuring they get the crystal via manipulating Morgana with his existence. Very sick game Alvarr is playing. But Mordred could also be in the know. Hmmm.... we'll see.

Merlin IS very smart, he understands people, but most of all he understands magic users and what they need to do to survive, even if it means sacrificing yourself for others to survive.

Ough, that braid and that green dress. Morgana is just stunning.

Love the difference between Merlin apologising to Arthur n him just walking away, and then Uther being very harsh to Arthur for the same reason. Something something if Arthur can, he'll bear the burden/blame of others since he already feels responsible for a whole kingdom even as a prince, so what's more of that weight on his shoulders right? Technically, the fault is Merlin's but if Arthur can help it, Uther will never know it. He cares so much for Merlin.

Oof, the mix of anger/fear/apprehension on Gwen's face with "My Lady." i bet it doesn't happen often when Gwen is reminded that Morgana is a lady and has the power to fucking execute her at will, she's that powerful. It must be so scary when she gets reminded of that. Of course, she knows Morgana would never; but what if?

The difference between Morgana's pristine tall white horse and Merlin's smaller black horse. Love that. Loveeeee it.

Oof. The fact that Morgana balks at Alvarr and his strategy of just. Killing anyone at Uther's side, even innocents. Like, she just cannot understand that, but!! She's at her most vulnerable at this time. Right now, she's not sure what's right or wrong. She doesn't know if what she thinks it's the right thing to do anymore, if it's what's needed for magic to be free, for her to be free of this fear and be herself. Is cruelty the answer? Is she being too merciful? I wonder if these are thoughts that she's having, knowing that what feels right is that she doesn't want to kill civilians, just bring Uther down. But what if her approach is wrong, and they fail, and it makes it all worse? What is there cannot be any "half measures"?

"I dont want to be alone anymore." THIS!!!! This is what leads to Morgana becoming what she becomes in season 3. Ultimately, she feels so alone. What other friends she has besides Gwen? Arthur? And now those two are poisoned because of her secret. She doesn't know if she can trust them fully anymore. She was already bitter, and full of hatred for Uther, and she was already capable of being ruthless and brave. But this? Being alone? This is what sets her off at her path. Even if she has allies, in the end she will always feel isolated, separated, alone. Even with Morgause. The second she gets into the mindset of "I have nothing of value to lose." She goes down Uther's path. The second she convinces herself that everyone either wants her dead or gone or whatever, she's on Uther's path. And Morgause doesn't count; she helps with this actually. Because Morgause is also very isolated and alone, but still puts herself in a certain distance with Morgana. Yes, they're sisters, they're High Priestesses. But they know their roles are much grander than themselves. Morgause even makes Morgana sacrifice her for their shared goal. The connection she has with Morgause only intensifies this idea that Morgana does not need others, she has a purpose outside of herself, and nothing else matters. This is what leads her down Uther's path. And once you start self-destructing, you realize how easy it is; and how much harder it becomes to put yourself back together again.

EWWWW THEY ALMOST KISSED!!! Another proof that Morgana is just so desperate for connection. First sign she sees of pure acceptance without fear she wants to dive right into that "safety". Ugh. Hate Alvarr and his manipulation.

OOP??? I FORGOT HOW HARD SHE WENT IN THIS SCENE HOLY SHIT???? This was, lowkey, Morgana sealing her fate. She was just so done with being passive and just taking the luxury of being Uther's ward. She saw what Alvarr and the druids and anyone with magic has had to do to survive and to end this reign of terror and she got so sick of just being on the side-lines. No wonder it was so easy for her to just betray them past this point. To her, she was already alienated from Uther and Camelot and everything it stands for. Alvarr being sentenced to death, not even telling the whole truth of her aiding him, radicalized her here. The title of this episode makes so much sense, this is Morgana getting more and more cold and ruthless towards Camelot whether before she just hated it and suffered under it. Go off queen.

OUGHHHH NOW THAT BROKE UTHER'S HEART, DAMN!!! She fully just. resigned from this family (I don't think she's fully processed that this means resigning from Arthur as well, she's just so focused on Uther).

Damn what a good ass episode bro. This is really where we see Morgana become herself, I guess; or the hateful, ruthless version of her. It is both sad but so freeing to see. But I do think she only really wanted Uther to be gone, her hatred for Arthur and Merlin came later, through Morgause and her manipulation, but also their own actions.

Mochi mochi mochi mochi I’m in such a tcd scar brain mood today I am just. THINKING about him. Rotating him in my mind. Silly little guy with a literal horror story as a majority of his early life. This guy Experienced The Terrors and then repressed them so deeply that he hasn’t told a single soul about what he’s gone through (except Grian in the secret husbands au ig), and then gets confused when he accidentally lets something really specific slip out and gets really concerned and bewildered stares from his fellow hermits. Grggrhrrhrghrhrhhr I’m just thinking about him so much.

Guy gets questions about how he managed to get so good with a bow and arrow, and all he does is just quietly mumble something about “needing to shoot a lot of things as a teenager” before changing the subject completely before anyone else can respond.

He still gets really nervous around zombies sometimes and has DEFINTELY freaked out on other hermits before about avoiding getting scratched or bitten.

Rgehdjtrjff he is just so interesting to me. Man has some serious issues and absolutely NOBODY is aware of them at all. (Besides Grian)

Unfortunately I do not have my collab partner on this one cause he's busy so you get my unfiltered thoughts 💪

I'll go up until weirdmageddon (calling it normageddon for now) cause that should be it's whole entire post, and also some more details will be with the mystery twins, not too much to miss ofc!!

Warning for torture and stuff, proooobably should've done that with the other post and stuff but I was tired 🤷‍♀️

Also Bill will be addressed as Will Cypher only right before he meets the mystery twins. Keeping some stuff from the original au but still with my spin, ya feel?

So Billy! Little guy. Totally not an interdimensional freak yuh huh. Born with his defect (I hc it to be his eye being in the middle) that ostracized him from society. Parents tried to give him help and restrict his vision of beyond the 2D world, but he wanted more. In an attempt of freeing his world from their limited vision, he ended up destroying Euclydia in a massacre. Only thing left was a single speck that he keeps under his hat wink wink

Now when meeting the henchmaniacs, they don't go the full mile and instead do petty theft and trickster stuff. Bill isn't as much of a crazed lunatic like in canon so his actions are more subdued.

Parties are still a big interest for him ofc, just....a little less arson. Now the nightmare realm is still receding in itself, so Bill still has the motive to make the portal cause he hears the prophecy of merging the realms.

He still goes to Earth and Gravity Falls. Prophecy is still considered deadly as yes, merging the realms is still very very deadly. Bill doesn't know this yet (tho even if he did he probably wouldn't care)

The Silas Birchtree stuff still happens, but the cult stuff kinda happens on its own without Bill forcing a cult to be made. It kinda just happens and he's like "aight"

Now this goes up until he's summoned to Gravity Falls by Ford. He can tell the scientist has potential and could make the portal for him, so they make their deal. Bill asking for the portal while Ford asks for power and knowledge in return.

Bill stands by, giving direct orders of what's needed for the portal yadda yadda. But it gets interesting once he notes that McGucket is having second thoughts (Fidds will also have a post cause he's very important in normageddon)

Bill constantly nags Ford, giving (mostly) empty threats to harm him. He gives him dreams of power when the man does manage to get sleep. Bill has a very distant understanding of how humans work here, due to possessing a corpse from his previous work and he himself doesn't really need to fill needs like humans.

Once McGucket is thrown into the portal all bets are off with Ford. Initially Bill appreciates the quick disposal of an interruption, but he reminds Ford the portal needs to be built. Constantly.

Ford is fed up with the nagging, he takes to letting his frustrations out on Bill. Bill doesn't bother giving the dreams anymore to Ford, just bugging the man whenever he's awake. Ford doesn't have a stable sleep schedule anyway after McGucket.

Eventually, Ford asks about possession due to him being a demon. Bill takes him up on the offer, but quickly regrets it as Ford is extremely hungry and sleep deprived. The hell is dizziness to him? Why does it suck so much?

Ford tells him he'd like to research him for the journal. Since Bill doesn't have a physical form, Ford takes to studying him while he's asleep or in the mind scape with Bill in his body.

He tests the limits of Bill with electro shocks, acid, nuclear waste. He blasts loud synthesized music while Bill is in his body and gaslights him for research.

They don't go out partying or for karaoke like the journal states. In this I imagine the journal is filled with scientific jargon on Bill and his limits. Ford is testing what limits a demon has since he isn't human.

Bill can't do anything about it, because Ford asked for knowledge in the deal. Unlike canon, Bill has to stick to deals and unless the deal breaks or Ford dies, he's stuck.

And he really wants this portal to work.

Soon Stan is brought in as the next assistant, and Bill gets a break from all the torture. He retreats to the mindscape to watch from a distance, hoping Ford doesn't get interrupted from work.

Unfortunately, Stanley leaves the project and Ford tries to go solo. When Bill tells him one more time with the threat of taking his eyes, Ford focuses more on torturing him. In the mindscape an altercation came up that ended with Bill's hat crushed, and the speck of his dimension used as leverage.

Needless to say he goes silent.

His color becomes more desaturated the more time goes on, less articulate and chatty. Ford is still working on the portal from the side, so he can't call off the deal. Ford falls in and out of sleep in free time, with Bill trying to possess him and actually get Ford to call off the deal. Even if it'll stall the merge, he could always try far far in the future, when Ford is dead.

Unfortunately it doesn't work, nightmares don't work either, as Ford just pushes back harder and digs up trauma of Euclydia.

Bill can try to get Ford to fall off the water tower all he wants, but when the body he's piloting is operating off of gallons off coffee and loud music it's hard to get a grip on reality.

Soon enough Mrs. Gleeful comes into the picture, and another break is given to Bill. As much as the years that pass by should seem like seconds to him, every second with Ford feels like years.

Bill can only watch from the mindscape as Ford uses the memory gun on Mrs. Gleeful, treating her like some machine that just needs a good reboot.

When Stanley finally confronts Ford, Bill thought he'd finally get a reprieve. Ford would call off the project since he has no materials, and he'd grow bored.

Unfortunately that's very much the opposite. Ford is locked in the bunker and tied to Bill, since he has to fill his end of the deal still. The shapeshifter talks circles around Ford, filling his head with ideas. Ford tortures Bill in his body, sometimes even forgoing pain meds for his eye so Bill can feel the pain.

Bill is forced to still give visions when Ford sleeps, and it only makes him more insane. His ego already growing to new heights as Bill can only watch.

Sometimes he tries to talk to the shapeshifter in the mindscape to get him to kill Ford, but they both know Ford could deal with them in a heartbeat.

When Bill is alone with himself, he thinks of forgoing his identity, changing his name and packing his bags to run off to some far away dimension.

Eventually some kids summon him in 2012. The pines twins.

Art I did of Will. His bowtie is skewed and his hat is still crushed. His cane is more than a prop sometimes. He's also fully blue now. Depressed and irritated with everything.

In the heat of the moment he tells the Mason kid he'll call him Dipper if they call him Will.

The new deal is to get inside of the head of a one Bud Gleeful for the deed to a shack. The same shack Ford had. He knows the twins are probably gonna just take back the shack anyway, but as long as it's not Ford's he doesn't care.

He takes the deal, going through memories and occasionally seeing Mrs. Gleeful. He feels a little bad for the guy, thinking his wife went missing when she's actually in the same town but practically lobotomized.

He almost succeeds, when Gideon and Pacifica steal back the code. The twins call the deal off, and he lets the anger get to him. Years of repressed anger at Ford will do that to ya.

Eventually when it's all over, the twins offer him to make it up to them with a deal. Accompany them to steal back a journal. Hey, if he's away from Ford, he'll take it. Plus they're kids, they probably just need a bodyguard.

They do not need a bodyguard.

I am telling you now, he is NOT a slave like in the original au. That kinda irks me a little, plus the twins are kids so why would they need a slave?

So Will is glorified butler right now. Used as a footrest or something to get drinks. They don't even bother to talk to him like a person.

He had hope in shooting star, seeing as she had a bit more empathy than her brother. But she uses him as a table for arts and crafts or a mannequin for sweaters.

So he's fed up with the pines family. Hell they didn't even tell Stanley! Will has half a mind to torment the guy to free him. He's the one that locked sixer away!

When the events of sock opera arrive, the twins ask him to retrieve the journal from Gideon. In an attempt to get it, he makes a hurried deal for a vessel to let Gideon get the code to a laptop. Seems to be McGucket's by the make of it.

He throws the laptop out of the window, being reminded of Ford after a comment from Gideon about the pines twins.

Luckily Gideon's body is more maintained than Ford, and Will can almost walk down the stairs without tripping!

Gideon pleads with him from the mindscape, saying how much the pines have been a nuisance. They have a talk before going to Pacifica's pageant (I should make a post more in depth about the kids on their own huh 🤷‍♀️)

They come to an agreement about the pines, and he makes a deal with Gideon to help him against them for the future.

He doesn't give the journal to the twins, Mabel and Pacifica fight on stage, Dipper does some backstage tricks. But they make it out okay. Oh also instead of "Bipper" it's Wideon. Widdle Wideon!!! (Very proud of that)

He joins the Gleeful's side after the events of it, sometimes asking Gideon to burn that journal of his.

Anyway!! That's where I'll leave it until the normageddon post. Still gotta get all my refs made and stuff before I can do that. I'm pretty happy with where I have it rn. Leaving Bill a little more in character than just a sad boy who's enslaved.
