MysMe Characters in a Zombie Apocalypse Headcanons

Here I go again. I like zombie moves/shows and mysme so I figured I wanna combine them. 

All the headcanons under the cut because this became long! 

Yoosung

Scared boy ™

Yet shows strength when he has to protect you

Cries as he runs away from zombies

Also cries and/or gags when he sees the gory stuff

Builds contraptions to keep zombies out of your camp / hide-out

Which never rly work... but it’s the thought that counts

Always compares every situation to video games he played 

And can sometimes even come up with useful plans due to his experience with post apocalypse setting video games

But whines a lot about how “this is way harder than it looked like in xx game”

Ready to die for you and thus ends up doing unnecessary dangerous stuff, so the group has to often stop him to do the dumb thing.

“I’m not a child anymore I WANT to protect MC TOO!”

Weapon of choice: a sword like his favorite video game character even if he’s clumsy in using it. So he ends up reaching for a simple gun when he finds himself in a dire situation. 

Knows recipes of post apocalypse type foods and cooks for the group.

If you’re bitten by a zombie he falls into complete denial and firmly believes you won’t turn because he can’t accept you leaving him like that. 

Jaehee

You didn’t expect it but she suddenly turns into a very capable apocalypse warrior

When she doesn’t kick ass, she researches about the outbreak and comes up with theories to potentially one day find a cure

Keeps the group organized even in chaotic times

Always able to come up with plans when the group finds itself in dangerous situations

Call herself your sidekick but it feels more like you’re her sidekick

Doesn’t trust any new people at all, if someone wants to join your group they have to get through Jaehee first (and most times don’t manage to do that.) 

Scavengers from outside groups always underestimate her and then end up getting their ass kicked. 

Keeps an organized list of how many zombies and how many people (in self defense) she has killed. She feels guilty for the people side of the list, even if it was in self defense every time. 

Makes you feel the most safe when you are on errand runs together.

She sees and hears EVERYTHING so no zombies or people can approach you unnoticed. She’s just always really alert.

Weapon of choice: her own martial arts skills and if necessary uses a machete to assist her.

Always tired, yet always on top of her game when the situation requires it. 

If you’re bitten she wants to make the last moments for you as comfortable as humanly possible, while she closely stays by your side. She’ll act tough to not show her own pain and will not show you her tears because she wants you to see her strong in your last moments to make you feel at peace with leaving her behind. 

Jumin

Leader of the group even though he never signed up for this

The group just suddenly decided he would be the most level headed for that position and for Jumin it would be too much trouble to decline

Negotiates with other groups you meet on the road and often gets some good trades for supplies done

Surprisingly is a good fighter when he has to put down a zombie or two

Really knows how to shoot a gun and land a head shot after the other for some reason ( he probably had private shooting classes before the apocalypse for fun) 

Sighs yet composed when blood gets on his fresh white shirt

Where does he get all these clean white shirts from? 

Way too clean for someone who lives in a world that ended.

If he has to kill other people who seem to be a danger to your group he will do so without hesitation and zero regret, they had it coming. 

Weapon of choice: a simple yet powerful handgun

Sometimes makes questionable choices and tries to control the group too much to keep track of everyone. 

He means it well for everyone’s safety but it can be too much.

But when you tell him he does things wrong he gets soft and is willing to listen to you when you advice him on doing things differently.

This is making you somewhat of the right hand of the leader. 

If you’re bitten he gets too emotional about it to asses the situation and you end up being the one comforting him because he loses his fucking mind. 

Zen

Looks bomb even after 5 days on the road without a shower

Still somehow manages to hold a somewhat proper meal plan

And gets enough sleep cos “his skin needs it”

Protects you always! And never lets you out of sight if he can avoid it.

Gets way too comfortable with shady strangers you meet on the road

But if someone of these strangers becomes a danger to you, doesn’t think twice before cutting their throat

On supply runs he brings back shampoo, beer and magazines instead of things like canned food and water

He avoids fighting whenever he can to keep his hands clean, but if he has to do it, he’s very capable and smooth

Weapon of choice: a katana 

Looks like a beautiful warrior when he fights

His long hair gets in the way sometimes and can cause zombies grabbing at it but he WON’T cut it EVER. Sacrifices are to be made in the name of beauty. 

The members of your group all somehow rely on Zen for emotional support in rough times because he knows just the things to say to make everyone feel better and never stops being positive even after the world was literally ending.  

Nothing seen of this positivity however, when it’s about Jumin. 

Yes, he is not okay with Jumin being the leader but also doesn’t do anything about it, even if it causes him to nag sometimes.

If you’re bitten he will blame himself forever for not protecting you better and go on a rampage to kill every zombie within a 10 mile radius to let out his frustration. One of them hurt you, so all of them must die. 

Seven

Runner of the group, meaning he does most of the supply runs, goes out to clear roads and check locations and safety thereof 

Somehow became always that guy of the group everyone looks at when they discuss about needing a member to do something that’s ridiculously reckless. Because “its Seven, he’ll manage.”

And will do everything the group asks from him, because what does he have to lose?

Most reckless of the bunch but also luckiest of the bunch, always gets away completely unharmed no matter what dumb risky thing he does. 

Still you worry about him a lot for his lack of self-preservation, but don’t tell him you do or he’ll get mad at you. 

Boy knows all the little secret pathways, hideouts and escape routes.

Also comes up with clever inventions he can make out of random junk he finds. It really helps out the group

Zombie puns all day everyday “ Zombodie had to do it.”  “That’s a no-brainer” “You undead all your good work” “Don’t outbreak my heart.” 

Tries to avoid killing or fighting off zombies to save his energy for other things. He’s more into being stealthy when he has to get shit done. 

But when he has to, he will be pretty good in getting rid of a handful zombies.. :

Weapon of choice: a wooden baseball bat with nails sticking out of it.

He likes it, it makes him look badass

Tries hard to avoid getting emotionally attached to you or anyone in the group because you all could die at any moment and there’s no point.

But slips into caring too much about you and the group anyway 

If you’re bitten he will have an emotional break first but then quickly start to think of ways to save you, no matter how. And if he has to chop off the infected body part to see if it works he will do so. 

Saeran [ Unknown ]

Not part of your group but always knows where you all are and what you are doing.

Instead belongs to this other surviving group that ordered him to keep an eye on yours.

Comes out of nowhere when you’re in a situation where you can’t defend yourself from a group of zombies to save your ass.

But will be gone again before you can even thank him. He only did it because he needs you alive anyway.

At least that’s what he tells himself. Although he starts caring for you for some reason. 

And really wants to bring you back to join his own group instead of sticking with the RFA.

You get very interested in this masked stranger but your questions remain unanswered because he keeps his distance to continue to watch from afar. 

Casually uses zombie blood, skin and guts to camouflage himself when he has to walk through herds of them. 

He is a skilled assassin who was trained to get the job done.

Weapon of choice: a simple hand knife in close range and a full-on automatic rifle for when it’s about killing many zombies at once.

Will use either of the weapons not only on zombies but on other humans, with the same lack of hesitation, if they piss him off.

Biggest kill count of them all. 

If you’re bitten he won’t even think twice before grabbing a sharp tool to chop off your infected body part if it’s in a location that can be removed. If it’s not he might wait for you to turn and keep you as a zombie pet. 

V

The original leader of the group who mysteriously vanished about 10 days into the outbreak.

It’s because he’s been infiltrating the other mysterious group to gain information on them just to find out his ex is the leader of this other group.

Thus is stuck between two groups and because of that became a solo-surviver without really a group to belong to.

Elegant fighter. Will knock down 5 zombies gracefully without a single drop of sweat.

Sometimes picks up helpless stranded survivors on the streets and allows them to travel with him and protect them until he finds them a save community to join.

Weapon of choice: a makeshift wooden spear with a blunt end for humans and a pointy end for zombies.

Pacifist who will never kill another human, even if they tried to kill him first.

But never hesitates even a second before killing a zombie.

Probably saved your ass from the distance a few times without you knowing.

Leaves water and food on your hideout doorstep in secret when he knows your group is low on supplies because he never stops taking care of all of you from the shadows. 

If you’re bitten he will be by your side and do everything in his power to make your last moments comfortable. Unable to end your pain while you’re still alive and yourself, he will wait for you to turn before he can eventually kill you. 

Rika

Leader of this other group and still goes by the name savior.

Her group has a questionable pyramid scheme: They are basically a apocalyptic cult who believes that this end of the world is a sign for them to build their new society.

Somehow mastered to build the most powerful survival group in a safe locations with strong walls.

Is interested to bring in people of your group if they are useful to her.

Especially interested in Seven, since he got the brains she could need to further build up her own little society behind her walls.

And will sacrifice everything for her cause, especially the lives of people working for her.

Uses force to make people stay and work for her. Will kill her own “believers” and turn them into zombies if they astray from the beliefs she forced onto them, then have them in cages within their walls to show them off to the other members her community as an example of what happens when you go against the grain. 

Especially uses Saeran as her most active tool in whatever mission she plans.  

Weapon of choice: Her charm and manipulation tactics.  

Legit thinks life after the outbreak is better than before and the apocalypse is somehow a gateway to paradise. 

If you get bitten she locks you up to see the process of a human turning as a sort of experiment.

For @mysmeweek2020 ‘s Day 1 prompt: Anniversary! The moment I saw the prompt list, I couldn’t help myself. I just started binge writing and here we are! You can also find this on my ao3, where I have an extra/bonus scene it you want to check it out!

Summary: It’s an even bigger RFA party this year, and as proud as Areum feels for the accomplishment, she’s feeling a little lonely without Jihyun at her side. Not to mention it was their anniversary tomorrow, and from the looks of things, Jihyun’s forgotten. But like the true friend he is, Jumin notices and comes to the rescue.

Song While Writing: That Kind Of Love - MAX 

A/N: Basically, this was meant to be centered on Jihyun and my OC. But then once I got to Jumin’s parts, I couldn’t help myself and I just wrote Jumin being his sweet self. Anyone who says Jumin wouldn’t be like a good big brother to MC when not in his route can come and FIGHT ME. Anyway, just a little info. I have a different OC for each route. Areum Song is the OC I use for Jihyun/V’s route. Other OCs may appear, but for this work, Areum takes on the MC’s role. Also, I have no idea how to write a decent summary, please forgive me;;

It was bright in the ballroom, in more ways than one. An upbeat tune echoes through the halls as people, dressed to the nines, dance across the ballroom floor. Areum feels her heart swell with happiness. It’s been six years, but it never fails to make her smile to see people of different backgrounds, all smiling and laughing, gathered together for a good cause.

It feels like a celebration of life.

Despite the happiness in her heart, she felt a sense of loneliness. It was thirty minutes to midnight now, which means in a couple of minutes, it will have been six years since she and Jihyun truly got together. Six years since they began their journey of loving each other as they loved themselves, since the beginning of the happiest days of her life.

But Jihyun wasn’t beside her today.

The thing about the RFA parties, as fun as it is to plan and attend them, is that they tend to make each member too busy to stop and have a chat with each other. Everyone is either attending to a guest, or off with someone from the staff to ensure that the party is going accordingly. From where she’s standing, Areum can see Jihyun talking with Chairman Han.

A tiny voice in her head wonders if perhaps Jihyun had forgotten that tomorrow was their anniversary. She tries to dismiss the thought. Jihyun was the type of guy to remember all their milestones. He takes note of them all. Usually he made preparations for their anniversary and would give Areum a rundown of the plans the day before in case she wanted to do something different. She never does. All she wants is to spend the day with Jihyun, after all.

But today, he went on as though it was a regular day. Areum shouldn’t mind. She really shouldn’t, but the thought keeps crossing her mind. This RFA party turned out bigger than all their previous ones, so everyone has been extra busy. Even the messenger was rarely visited. It was only natural that they would forget some things due to all the extra things they had to deal with.

“You look deep in thought.”

Areum nearly drops the champagne flute in her hand. She turns to find Jumin trying to suppress a smile.

“Geez, you scared me.” Areum breathes, placing her free hand on her chest.

“Sorry,” Jumin says, though he looks too amused to seem like he really means it. “You were here all by yourself and you looked like you could use some company.”

Areum smiles. For all the jokes the other members made about Jumin being weird, he was actually very sweet and caring. Next to Jihyun, she found his presence to be the most comfortable.

“I’m fine. Just thinking about how busy this party in particular is.”

Jumin hums. They remain quiet for a bit, watching the people at the party laugh and enjoy themselves. Areum thought she saw Luciel sneaking around with something that looks suspiciously like Elizabeth the 3rd hidden in his coat, but she dismisses the idea. Elizabeth the 3rd wasn’t even at the party, so it was impossible for Luciel to have her in his coat.

“How are things between you and Jihyun?” Jumin asks, breaking their peaceful silence. “It’ll be six years for you two tomorrow, if I remember correctly.”

“That’s right,” Areum chirps. The thought of Jihyun makes her heart feel at ease, but remembering that he was too busy at the moment wiped that feeling away quickly. Remembering that Jumin was still waiting for an answer, she clears her throat. “We’re doing alright. We have nothing big planned for tomorrow, but I don’t really mind.”

She meant that last part. Just spending the day with Jihyun makes it special enough for her.

“I...I don’t want to sound presumptuous, but you don’t seem so excited.”

Sharp as always, Jumin, Areum thinks. Or maybe I’m just really obvious.

Either way, Jumin has picked up on her lack of enthusiasm. She thinks it might be okay to tell Jumin. After all, he’s Jihyun’s closest friend and someone that Areum trusts and has become fond of. But even she thinks that her behavior is irrational, what good would telling Jumin do? Besides, he might tell Jihyun, and the last thing Areum wants is to add her feeling clingy to his already busy night.

“It’s nothing,” she lies. It wasn’t that big a deal, she could handle feeling a little lonely and keep it to herself. Except that Jumin was looking at her with that calculating gaze, and sooner or later he’ll figure it out. It would be better if she just told him, rather than make him feel bad with her lying.

“Actually,” she sighs. “Well...you have to promise you won’t tell Jihyun, first.”

Jumin raises a brow. “I’m sorry, but that’ll have to depend on the gravity of what you’re about to tell me. I can’t keep that promise if it risks you and Jihyun.”

“Don’t worry,” Areum says with a smile. Jumin really is a sweet and loyal friend, and she truly can’t help but be grateful to have someone like him in her life. “It’s really nothing like that. I just…”

Jumin offers her his arm, which she takes almost immediately. About two years ago, Jumin had taken on the habit of offering her his arm when he knew she needed comfort. He would then lead her somewhere to sit down and let her take a deep breath or two before consoling her or hearing her out. Jihyun had said that Jumin didn’t just allow anyone physical touch, and Areum felt so honored that Jumin allowed her such a thing.

Once he had her seated at an empty table, he sat across from her and waited until she was ready to talk.

“I feel a little embarrassed to say this but...I’m feeling...lonely.”

Jumin nods, assuring her that he’s listening. Areum takes this as a sign to elaborate.

“Jihyun and I usually have a plan for our anniversary. It’s not always something big, but he likes to make a to-do list, of sorts, and he usually lets me in on what he has in mind a day before. But with how busy we’ve all been with this party, I feel like he’s forgotten about tomorrow. And I know it sounds sad and even a little pathetic, but I’m a little upset that he’s forgotten.”

Areum fiddles with her fingers. It’s not like it’s the first time she’s confided in Jumin, but she didn’t like feeling like this. She knows Jihyun cares, but all her thoughts just twist that around.

“It’s such a small thing,” she says, a weak laugh leaving her lips. “I’m worried over something so small, and the more I think about it the more it makes me crazy but I just can’t get past the thought. I love Jihyun with all my heart, and if he asked, I’d be ready to spend the rest of my life with him! But I don’t want him to see me as clingy and always in need of his attention—”

“Alright,” Jumin interrupts. He looks at her with calculating eyes once more, and Areum quiets down. If anything, Jumin was like an older brother to her, being someone who could calm and silence her with a single look. She actually does tell him pretty often that she thought of him as such, but Jumin always thinks it’s a joke. “You’re overthinking again.”

“I know,” Areum sighs, closing her eyes.

“Just take a deep breath, first. Do the Four-Seven-Eight technique.”

Areum does as she’s instructed. Closing her eyes, she takes a deep breath for four seconds, holds it for seven, and breathes out for eight. She repeats it four more times before she feels her head clear. Her negative thoughts were still there, but they no longer sounded as loud as before.

“Feeling better?”

Areum smiles and opens her eyes. She nods at Jumin.

“Good.” A small smile on his lips, Jumin stands up and offers her his hand once more. “Now, how about a little distraction? Would you care to dance?”

Areum hadn’t even noticed the music shift in the room. They were now slow and sweet, and more couples seemed to have made their way to the ballroom floor. She thinks she even spots Jaehee dancing with Zen.

“Sure,” she says, taking his hand and getting up. “But I must warn you now, I’m not very good at dancing.”

“Nonsense.” Jumin leads her to the dance floor. He has her place her free hand on his shoulder, but keeps the other in his hand. “Jihyun has told me you’re very light on your feet when he dances with you.”

Areum feels her face heat up. Technically, they did dance at social events, but it was all slow dancing. The kind where you had each other's arms wrapped around the other’s body and you swayed to the slow rhythm of the music, like in high school dances in the movies. But when they were home alone and Jihyun played the sweet music he loved to listen to late at night, they would perform a more elaborate dance.

Jihyun would take her by the hand, leading her to the clearest area of whatever room they started in. Then he’d pull her into his arms, position them as though they were a couple of ballroom dancers, and move. They would attempt to dance like professionals, with lifts and swings and the very light step sequences, but they always ended up improvising and laughing. All the same, they would dance around the house, flitting from room to room.

It always ended the same way. With Jihyun twirling Areum and then dipping her as far as he can without them both crashing to the floor. They’d be breathless and alone, smiling at each other with pure love and adoration, then their lips would meet for a sweet kiss. She didn’t mind Jihyun telling Jumin, but it was such an intimate thing they shared that she hadn’t realized she never really let anyone in on it.

“Of course, he’d say that,” Areum laughs, trying to lose the heat in her face. “But you’ll be sorry for believing him when I end up stepping on your Verragamo shoes.”

Jumin huffs a laugh at that, but pulls her into a slow dance anyway. You’re both quiet for the most part, just listening to the music.

“It’s not pathetic, you know,” Jumin says, breaking the silence. “Wanting him to remember your anniversary. It’s meant to be a day of celebration.”

Jumin is always serious, or rather, always appears as such. But there’s a certain gleam in his eye as he’s speaking to Areum that she just can’t seem to place. It makes her want to hear all that he has to say.

“Six years ago, V came home as Kim Jihyun, a man that finally felt comfortable enough to love himself and thus confident enough to love another person as they are. Six years ago, you two took each other’s hands and became a couple, one that built each other up and would support each other’s growth in a way that inspired others to do the same. Six years ago, the RFA was changed from a simple charity association with secrets, to a family that vowed to spread good in the world through lawful means.

“But most of all, six years ago today, you and Jihyun embraced each other and started a life full of love. And that alone is a cause for celebration.” The song changes and Jumin gives Areum an experimental twirl. It’s angled a little awkwardly and it’s slow, so she doesn’t end up tripping all over herself in her surprise, but it makes her smile. “You’re not pathetic for wanting your beloved to remember the day on which you celebrate your love.”

There’s a reason Jumin was the one that Areum came to for advice. Sure, he was blunt half the time, and he couldn’t always relate to her problems, but he always did have her best interests at heart. He was always willing to listen and ready to give her his honest thoughts.

“Thanks, Jumin.” She smiles. His words didn’t make the negative energy she had disappear completely, but Areum felt as though a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders.

“Of course,” Jumin is quick to reply. He opens his mouth to say something more, but appears to hesitate, a very un-Jumin like move. Areum was going to say as much, but it seems that he had already decided to speak. “Anything for my little sister.”

Areum lights up and a wide smile spreads across her face.

“Aw, Jumin you think of me as your little sister?”

“Can’t I do that?” he asks, but she sees the tips of his ears darken with a blush. “You’ve become such a big part of my life, and you’re always calling me your older brother. So I figured I can treat you as one.”

“No, you can. You absolutely can,” Areum laughs and leans her head on his shoulder for a moment. Lifting her head up, she smiles brightly at him. “Thanks, big brother. I’m really glad.”

Jumin sends her one of his rare, genuine smiles. The ones he reserves for his most precious friends.

“You’re welcome, always.” They dance in silence for a bit, but Jumin has more to say. “Also, don’t worry too much about him forgetting.”

It’s Areum’s turn to raise a brow. She asks what he means, but all she sees is a telltale gleam in his eyes. She tries to question him some more, but his head snaps away from her gaze and turns irritated.

“Luciel, what do you think you are doing with Elizabeth the 3rd?”

Areum glances behind her to see Luciel on the dance floor with Elizabeth in his arms. He was holding her tight to his chest and spinning around, as though he were dancing with her. Luciel hears Jumin and laughs a little before running off with the persian cat.

“Areum, I apologize, but I need to go—”

“No, it’s alright,” Areum laughs. She lets go of his hand and shoulder, and gestures to his cat. “Go get ‘em.”

Jumin throws her a quick smile before dashing after Luciel. Areum laughs some more. She should have known better than to doubt Luciel. Of course he’d find a way to sneak Elizabeth in. Oh, she felt bad for Jumin, but it was always funny to watch him chase Luciel off because of Elizabeth the 3rd.

“There you are.”

Upon hearing the voice, Areum immediately feels at ease. She allows Jihyun to wrap his arms around her waist from behind her and relishes in being held by his strong arms.

“I’ve been looking all over for you.”

“You have?” Areum twists around to face him. She wraps her arms around his torso, and places her chin on his chest to look up into his eyes—his beautiful, mint eyes that just seemed bright with all the lights.

“Of course. I got a little busy talking to Jumin’s father about sponsors, but I had to get to you before midnight.”

“Midnight?”

Jihyun smiles.

“What, did you forget? Tomorrow’s our anniversary.”

Mystic Messenger Part 8 - V Route

Omggg playing this again just brings back all the memories! Yoosung with his annoying suspicion of V and obsession with Rika… Zen’s hilarious narcissistic personality; I loved it when he said if the heroine looks at his photo she better wear sunglasses because he’s too stunning LMAO😂 he always makes me crack up. And omg, Jumin has his own book of quotes hahahaha, that is so funny!! Jaehee slaving away as usual and V hiding things as always. Ray looks exactly like Saeran so I guess it’s him but does he have the same role in this alternate story? I’m kinda into the premise that Zen and them are “A.Is” and this is a “game” that the heroine is testing out. This heroine as usual is so easy to bait and kidnap lolol. But Jumin’s lines man, “I was born splendid” HAHAHA, you can see why Zen is so frustrated with him all the time hahahaha.

Sometimes Yoosung just aggravates me for his strong emotions and naivety. V is definitely wrong for hiding for what really happened to Rika and keeping secrets without asking for help from anyone especially Jumin. But Yoosung constantly blames V for not protecting Rika properly and that’s just really terrible. He’s already feeling like crap over the fact that he wasn’t able to help her and never even knew that things would turn out like this and maybe you can blame him for saying or doing the wrong things but you can’t deny the fact that V loves Rika and always tried his best to help her. Yoosung constantly doubting him due to his ignorance really makes me angry because he’s merely projecting the fact that he couldn’t do anything for Rika onto someone that might have been able to do something for Rika, completely ignoring the fact that V is a person too and that Rika isn’t necessarily a perfect person! He’s so hostile to V that it’s just aggravating. Rika is her own person and she makes her own decisions! You can’t blame V for that!

V and Jumin’s first meeting is hilarious. He crashed his toy car (that’s equipped with an airbag) into V’s house’s wall and then called to ask how much compensation for that would cost typically hahahaha. Such a calm little boy! Little Jumin is so cute hahaha. But I guess it is understandable from Yoosung’s point of view. He’s much closer to Rika than to V and he believes that he understands Rika well, so from his perspective, what he saw and felt of her was who she was and what she showed meant that she wasn’t the type to suicide so it’s hard for him to swallow, especially with the lack of evidence besides V’s testimony. I guess if you think about it like that, alongside with the fact that Yoosung is an emotional person, you can see why he acts the way he does. I just feel bad for V. I guess I wonder (like Jumin does) whether I’m just on V’s side because I like him and can relate with him more. I found it so hilarious that the reason V was Zen’s saviour when his motorbike crashed was because he was actually following him around to get a good photo of him and his motorbike lmao. But it’s exactly because of that, that he could call an ambulance and save Zen’s leg, it would have been devastating if he lost it.

Ray is really Saeran huh? Mint Eye, V, Rika.. Ray’s fear of being abandoned, his disdain for the RFA, they’re all Saeran… But yeah, it’s so nice to hear about Jumin and V’s childhood memories, they were so cute as kids! Hearing about them and seeing how Jumin acts with V, you can really see how much Jumin cares and cherishes V as a friend, it’s really sweet. I think what Yoosung fails to understand about V and everyone else is that, everyone grieves in different ways, just because they don’t show it as much as you does not mean they’re not hurt or that they’ve forgotten. Yoosung is so focused on his own sadness that he fails to understand that the others are sad too but regardless, the world still keeps moving. It’s cruel when you think about the idea that the loss of a person doesn’t really mean anything to the world itself but that’s how it is, whether it be Jumin, Zen or V, they still have things they need to do, and just because they’re not stopping everything in their lives to grieve doesn’t mean they’re not hurt. Everyone needs something to do to redirect their sadness, isn’t that how it is? I know that Yoosung doesn’t like being treated like a kid but sometimes his thoughts, his perceptions and everything, they really are childish tbh… HAHAHA, trust 707 to have hacked Yoosung’s computer and got him addicted to LOLOL!! It was a great distraction for Yoosung though hahaha, Seven is smart!😂

I feel so bad for being mean to Ray, especially when he uses the crying emoji omgg, it breaks my heart😢 I’m sorry Ray! I really like you!! But you’re toxic!! LOL It’s funny that Rika loves and admires the idea of a perfect love that will never change regardless of what happens to her physical form, a love that transcends the human heart, yet she couldn’t believe in V’s heart that produced such emotions in his photos that made her feel like that. In the end, it wasn’t V that was unable to keep it to an unchanging heart but instead herself that couldn’t even believe in the person that never changed. A person who yearns to be loved but doesn’t believe anyone could possibly love her, that to me sounds like what Rika is.

You can kinda see why Rika felt so insecure, I mean she’s got problems already and V’s empty words that lack substance only drove her crazier. Rika must take responsibility for her own actions, but you can’t deny that even though V tried his best, he really didn’t express himself properly to her. He had the heart, the feelings and everything but he wasn’t able to show her how much he really loved her in a way that she could understand it. Him hiding Rika and everything from the RFA… Is still a decision I understand and accept but can’t agree with, everyone is too involved to be left in the dark all this time, I believe they all have a right to know everything and V shouldn’t stop that. I know he wants to protect them and do everything himself but not knowing and not doing anything for something they all care about is disrespectful to their wishes. I’m really happy that V is someone Jumin cherishes so well that even when the others doubt him, he continues to believe in him, I really love the trust they share with each other despite my disagreements.

I guess what Rika needed was someone not so perfect like V. Because V was willing to do anything and everything for her, she couldn’t trust him, since everyone that surrounds her brings her pain in some way like her parents so how could she believe in a person that wholeheartedly loves her for who she is when there hasn’t been anyone that has? Although Rika is very drastic and obviously quite unstable, you can’t help but feel for her that it is hard to truly trust someone that loves you for who you are when you can’t even love yourself or feel undeserving of such love. As someone who understands that feeling, I can’t help but feel for Rika. In the end, her darkness won out because she could relate more with it, something she’s lived with for years rather than another unreliable person that might leave her like her parents and step parents did (emotionally).Especially since V loves her unconditionally, it’s hard for her to believe in a love where there’s no reason for him to love her and do so many things for her. She’d rather he have some sort of motive so that she can understand why he would like her. In the end, it also makes me doubt whether V really likes her or just wants to save her with his sunlight that is attracted to her darkness… But I guess that could be a form of love as well..

Although V blames his selfishness for destroying Rika since what he projected unto her wasn’t love but his own stubborn expression of himself that was restrained due to his fears of possibly being a failure as an artist. She was the only one that could see through his photos the meaning of them all. But just as he blames himself for not understanding her, so should Rika. She failed to understand V himself and his thoughts and dragged Saeran and all these other people into her crazy cult. I’m so mad that Saeran became like this because of her insecurities and problems.

Rika blames V for not being able to save her, but really, the one with the duty to save her was none other than herself. If she gives up herself as she did then no matter what V did, it wouldn’t have connected, which it did not. In the end, we can only rely on ourselves to help ourselves. And for someone like her who refuses help, how can she expect others to save her? If V is selfish, then Rika is the most selfish one because in the end, she never cared about anyone but herself. Whether it be her charity organisation or V, she didn’t do these things for others, she did it to make herself feel good and feel saved. Regardless, it did help others but she also created a great deal of pain with Mint Eye by brainwashing people with drugs, physical pain and words, things can’t balance out like this though, so in the end, Rika needs to understand the gravity of her actions and the consequences it caused to people like Saeran.

Ray has done bad things but I can’t help but feel so bad when I choose the answers that break his heart. Especially when I can so understand the sentiment of wanting to be useful to someone, to be acknowledged, to not be abandoned and to not be alone. Ray is of course an extreme case of this but nevertheless relatable. You can understand why V had to lie that she suicided considering the influence she has over the RFA and how easily she could have manipulated them to Mint Eye if V didn’t intervene..

It’s kinda saddening to see that V’s love for Rika was obsession, but then so was hers in a sense considering what she always wanted was to be accepted and saved, she believed that love could save her so when V’s didn’t and instead illuminated all her insecurities, she went nuts. It’s nice to see V realise his faults for hiding everything and merely projecting his desire to be a free artist/person through his obsession/love towards Rika but in the end, it’s too late isn’t it? Saeran having to be a sacrifice from all this is just too sad… I still think V should have told 707 about Saeran since he had a right to know. But as stated, it’s all too late… It’d be just too painful to 707 if he were to tell him of Saeran’s death now… Sigh, such a depressing route for all the characters this time around..

Overall, I think the route lacked the romantic connection needed between V and the heroine since it was just mainly the heroine trying to support him all the time as he tried to get through the pain of Rika becoming like this and hurting others due ot their relationship problems. But yeah, very heavy and depressing route...

Okay this is going under a read more cause it’s surprisingly long sorry I kind of went off more then I planned to.

Also, I discuss sexual misconduct and assault toward the end of this, it’s not too detailed but I did want to give people some warning just in case

1. Yoosung – It was my first route so it’s always been a bitspecial to me, but even putting that aside I just really like his route. I knowa lot of people fixate on the whole “just like Rika” thing and take issue withit but honestly, I could never bring myself to care about it that much. Like,no I didn’t exactly like being compared to his dead cousin, but I didn’t getangry or annoyed at Yoosung for it. I understood that it was coming from aplace of grief. He was in a deep depression because of Rika’s supposed deathand he never got the closure he needed for it, and no one else seemed to betaking him or his feelings seriously. It’s not surprising that he would clingto the first person (MC) who showed genuine interest in him and try to findwhat he lost (Rika) in her. It’s not right for him to do that, of course, but Icould understand and empathize and so I was willing to be patient. And it’s notlike he does it the whole route anyway, he stops the Rika comparisons within afew days, and from them on he sees MC as her own person and likes her for whoshe is, though he’s of course still dealing with his grief. I thought it waswell-written, honestly. I guess I can understand not wanting a romance thatfocuses so much on your love interest grieving someone else but… yeah I justcouldn’t be bothered by it in the same way everyone else seemed to be. I lovedYoosung’s character development and I enjoyed every minute of it. Plus, sinceit was my first route and I knew absolute nothing going into this game,everything was genuinely surprising and fresh and felt real to me, a feeling Islowly lost as I did more routes. Plus, Yoosung’s endings are the best?His good ending is so beautiful and his normal ending is just super cute. Andhis bad endings… well they certainly live up to being bad endings lmao. They were interesting at least and they got astrong emotional response out of me so, that’s saying something at least.

2. Jumin – Okay so everyone seems to have pretty strongopinions about Jumin’s route one way or the other. For the people who are onthe side of not liking it, let me just say… I get it. Really, I do. I also kindof, um, don’t care? Okay that sounds bad just hold on. I’m not reallyinterested in writing out a big defense of why Jumin’s route isn’t Problematicbecause for one thing, plenty of people have done that already and for anotherthing, I don’t necessarily disagree with the people who don’t like Jumin’sroute. I get where they’re coming from, parts of his route are veryuncomfortable. I don’t think he’s as bad as certain people make him out to be,but he undeniably crosses the line at some points of his route, and I candefinitely understand not liking it because of that. As for why I like it, well, part of it again camedown to how much I empathized with Jumin, which was a lot. Much like Yoosung,no one else in the game seems to take Jumin very seriously. They write him offas unfeeling and no one really tries to understand or sympathize with him. So,I got why Jumin acted out the way he did in his route, though of courseunderstanding is not the same thing as excusing. But the other thing is… I thinkhis route is wildly entertaining. It was the only one, aside from Yoosung’s,where I genuinely had no idea where it was going. Jaehee’s route, thoughenjoyable, was easy for me to predict, as was Zen’s route. And Seven’s route Igot spoiled for long before I even got to it. I liked that Jumin’s route was sounpredictable to me, it made it really fun to go through, and I thought Juminwas a really interesting character and I liked getting into his head and learningmore about him. It was still fun to play even after the first time. So, since Iliked Jumin’s route so much purely for the entertainment factor of it, it waseasy for me to forgive the more “wtf” parts of it. And listen guys, Jumin mademe strawberry pancakes and read me to sleep, why would I ever want to leave hishouse to begin with?? (Also, fun fact: it was Jumin’s route that made merealize Jaehee was my favorite character.)

3. Jaehee – I’ve already talked a lot about her route here, andhow I don’t like the ambiguity of it and the weird pseudo-romance between herand Zen that only serves to placate the people who don’t want Jaehee/MCromance. It breaks my heart that my favorite character in the game and of alltime is only my third favorite route, but I mean, her route is still good and Istill enjoyed it a lot. It’s just unfortunate that I don’t love it quite asmuch as I love her. But enough negatives. In general, I don’t see a lot ofsimilarities between myself and Jaehee, but what she said about how she holdsherself back from being happy because she’s afraid of it disappearing? Boy thathit me hard. I really loved Jaehee’sgrowth throughout her route, seeing her realize her own worth and that it’sokay to take risks sometimes and she doesn’t always have to play it safe,seeing her find a true place in the RFA and in the world, it was all sobeautiful! I think Jaehee’s route is interesting in how it deals withloneliness and self-worth, and plus Jaehee herself is just so cute?? The textsshe sends and the responses you can give are just so adorable I love how muchJaehee opens up she really is so charming and fun. So yeah very solid route, Ijust wish certain things had been handleddifferently but y’all know that already I don’t need to go into it again.

4. Seven – Uuuuh boy. Hm. I’m not a huge fan of Seven’sroute. Particularly, I don’t care for the actual romance in Seven’s route.Which is kind of a big deal. But I’ll get to that. A lot of the “reveals” inSeven’s route were spoiled for me back when I was still only on my second route,so there were very few surprises when I actually got to Seven’s. To befair, a lot of these things I probably would have guessed myself anyway becausethe hints aren’t exactly subtle, but I didn’t even get the satisfaction ofwatching my guesses be proven correct myself because I didn’t get to make thoseguesses at all, I was spoiled too early. My fault for following a lot of MMblogs so early on in my playing, but still annoying. Not everythingwas spoiled for me at least, there was still a lot I didn’t know about Sevenand Saeran’s past and that was interesting to learn about. I also loved that littlesubplot in Seven’s route with Yoosung and Jumin lmao. As I’ve said tho, theweakest part of Seven’s route for me was the romance with him. I didn’t likehow mean he is to MC, and I had a difficult time placing myself in MC’s shoesbecause I couldn’t find any reason that I would want to keep pursuing someonewho was treating me and acting the way Seven was, so I felt really disconnectedfrom the whole thing. Probably super hypocritical of me to take issue with theway Seven treated MC when I didn’t take issue with the way Jumin treated her,but I simply wasn’t as invested in romancing Seven. I always seem to have that problemwith Seven. Even in his Christmas route and even in his Valentine’s afterending, I just… didn’t care. Like, they were objectively cute, and I swear I actuallylike Seven, but somehow when it comes to romance with him I disengage almostentirely. So idk man, maybe I only like Seven as a friend?? It’s weird. Sevenis such a strange character for me for a lot of reasons I won’t go into but thepoint is, since a lot of the mystery around Seven was ruined for me early on,his route didn’t hold as much interest for me as it should have, and the factthat I wasn’t invested in the romance part of it didn’t help. I don’t hate hisroute or anything, but I have a hard time saying I like it.

5. Zen – I don’t like Zen so there was very little chance of meliking his route anyway. Even if that wasn’t the case, tho, it stillwould have ranked very low because of the whole Echo Girl thing. I just… reallydon’t like stories that are like “girl ruins guy’s life with false sexualmisconduct accusations” because it pretty much never happens like that in reallife and it only perpetuates the idea that victims of assault and harassmentare lying and dramatic, and that makes it more difficult for people to come forward when ithappens to them. Zen’s route makes a big thing out of Echo Girl accusing him “withoutproof”, and of course we know that she was in fact lying, but the way it’spresented it’s like… look, I’m always going to be inclined to believe thevictim, with or without proof, because the consequences of me believing themand being proven wrong will do far less damage than if I didn’t believe them,and they were telling the truth. It’s not immoral for people to have believedEcho Girl’s story even if she didn’t have “proof” (which, what would that looklike anyway?). Also the way they disprove her claims is pretty gross too,because they disprove it by showing that Echo Girl was attracted to Zen and saidthings about wanting to have sex with him before the alleged incident, sotherefore she must be lying. That’s not how that fucking works. And again, weknow that Echo Girl was lying, and that she was in fact the one harassing him, but think about what this is implying. Thatbecause Echo Girl is attracted to Zen, he couldn’t have assaulted her? Thatbecause she said before that she would like to have sex with him, she couldn’t possibly have changed her mind and therefore he couldn’t have assaultedher? That because she expressed interest in him, it’s impossible that anyadvances he made could have been inappropriate and therefore he couldn’t haveassaulted her? Echo Girl being attracted to Zen has absolutely nothing to dowith whether or not she could have been harassed or assaulted by him! Saying that herinterest in him is enough to disprove her claims is really gross! It doesn’tmatter that they were false, the implications of all this is still bad! Theycould have and should have handled all of this differently, the route wouldhave been better off for it, but the way it’s written is just so bad and perpetuatesall kinds of awful ideas.

Jihyun Route: Another Story - Notes

Below the cut are the notes of opinions & thoughts I wrote down as I was playing Another Story. It’s below a cut because it’s very lengthy; I think it came out to over 8400 words. I certainly don’t expect anyone to read all of it, but I had a few people ask for me to do this, so here it is. Some of it is more in-depth analysis, most of it is probably nonsense, a lot of it is me thirsting. 

Everything written is what I was thinking at the time something happened in the moment of playing the game so you can see how my theories/emotions of the game progress day by day. I did not go back & change anything I wrote after finishing the route. I haven’t even gone back to proofread it yet, so my apologies for ridiculous errors or confusion. 

The notes are broken up by days & then by endings (I’ve only completed good & normal endings so far). Obviously, this text will be loaded with spoilers. I apologize if you’re on mobile & the cut doesn’t work & you have to scroll past this horrendously long post.

I’m sure some of what I’ve said here will be controversial, but I’m not here to argue with anyone or create discourse; this is just a means to express my opinions & lingering curiosities about some aspects of the route.

I by no means disliked this route. I very much enjoyed it for all it’s drama, twists, emotional upheaval, discoveries, & Jihyun’s sexy sexy voice. 

Prologue

That bedroom at Mint Eye is essentially my DREAM room. Wowza. So much pink! Yeah yeah, Ray, I’ll play your game as long as I don’t have to leave that bed. Ever.

Fuck. Ray is wearing gloves. FUUUUUCK me right up. GLOVES!!!

CATCH MY ASS FLIRTING WITH JUMIN ALL DAY ER’DAY. I told Juju I wanted to hear his voice. I’m so thirsty.

Jumin released a quote book. It probably has great lines like, “Yaaaaaa” or “What is fried chicken?” … I’d buy it. Will probably turn out to be the best trilogy I ever spent money on.

“Mankind is born lonely.” (Call Ray after 00:00 chat). This game just got deep as fuck. I’m not ready for that kind of existential commentary at midnight on day one, ok? Let’s chill. I came here to talk to cute boys/girl, not mull over how mankind was doomed from the start.

Zen is already basically horny & ready to rumble if you tell him you called him in the middle of the night because you were thinking about him & honestly that already makes this a fantastic update.

I’m glad we got a little more context on how Yoosung had a random friend who joined a cult & tried to recruit him. Solid tie-in, Chertiz. Bravo.

JUMIN PREFERS FULL-BODIED WINE. FUCK ME RIGHT UP. THIS MADE ME SO HAPPY.

Yoosung, you’re breaking my heart. I want to comfort him so bad. Everything is still so fresh & he’s so frustrated. He’s going to be an emotional rollercoaster this entire route. I can feel it. Deep in my bones.

Ok, day one is almost fucking over, where in the mint wig hell is V?! This is supposed to be his route, right? I’m fixing to start answering for Ray in a hot minute if Pastel Princey doesn’t show up pronto.

ZEN IS SUCH A NARCISSIST & I LOVE HIM FOR IT. “I wonder what I’d look like wet.” Me too, send a selfie quick. Please. I’ll beg.

I can’t stop flirting with everyone holy crap I’m probably going to bad end. I don’t even know who I have the most hearts for currently…

DAY TWO

Why are the longest chats in this game at 2 in the damn morning?! Cheritz, please…

Have I mentioned I really like V’s new sprite outfit? CAUSE I DO. It’s an excellent style. That coat with the pin on the lapel is perfect! Mmmhmm.

Also, V’s sprite’s body language seems pretty important to me. That arm wrapped over himself & holding his other arm feels very closed off. He’s the leader but he’s curling in on himself. Yes, by now we know he has secrets, but this almost feels like he’s unsure of himself for other reasons. Maybe I’m reading too much into it.

In a call V says the dark sky was taking over the moon but then in the next chat he says he couldn’t sleep because the moon was too bright. WELL, WHICH IS IT? I am betting that "bright moon" was probably just a lamp. Flip the switch, V. Turn it off & go to bed.

Aye, Jumin went to a foreign university. I want to know where. Have it ever been said how many other languages Jumin knows? I know he goes to New York & China for business a lot, so do we assume he takes translators with him or that he knows enough of the languages to get by? I’m so curious.

HOW V & JUMIN MET IS THE CUTEST SHIT I HAVE EVER READ IN MY LIFE OMGGGG. Jumin calling the insurance company about a toy car. Stop I can’t. I love him so much.

LITTLE JUMIN IN SUSPENDERS OMG I AM SCREAMING. That mini suit is probably bespoke Armani. Damnit.

Jumin talks about almost being kidnapped on multiple occasions as if it were just a minor inconvenience of his day. “Ran out of pancakes, almost got kidnapped, crashed my toy car…”

Yeah yeah Ray. They're AIs. Sure. Uh huh. Totally believe you.

HOLY SHIT. Seven got a major equipment & set up upgrade. Someone tell me he posted to r/battlestations ?!?!?

Ray said he's going to try to tame me with food & honestly I am not opposed to this. He found my weakness so quickly. BRING ME ICE CREAM! STRAWBERRIES! CHAMPAGNE! Ask Jumin to make me some pancakes, I liked those.

The first recommended party guest is a vampire (who could pass for Eros Katsuki Yuuri in a cape). I love this silly game. You think if I told Jumin that the 'Twilight' series was really a documentary he would believe me?

So Jumin confirmed he doesn't have siblings. That's actually one of the lingering questions I had about him. I’m glad he & V found one another at such young ages then. One could argue that they’re like brothers.

I am going to say it - I think Yoosung needs to meet with a licensed professional on a set schedule. He has no outlet for these emotions he's feeling & fears being badgered by RFA members when he does express himself. I feel so bad for him, especially knowing, as the player, that he was right all along to question V & the lack of evidence on Rika's supposed suicide. The RFA chatroom is not a safe space for him. Yet on the other hand, he’s being very selfish in wanting the others to grieve the same way he is. This is a very complex character bit about him.

Jaehee continues to be wary of me nonstop… but is 100% convinced that Seven is inviting the actual planet of Pluto to this party. ::looks directly into the camera::

Ray is reaching obsessive level status. This boy just attaches to anyone that’s remotely nice to him, doesn’t he? I’ll admit, I went into this route but really liking Unknown. He irritated me. I knew he was tormented & abused, but he was not a good man. Ray though, seems really sweet. So are we to believe sometime between now & the two years into the future something happens to him that just causes him to snap & no longer want to be nice?

DAY THREE

Zen is saying “lmao” a lot.

Ok so this route has some of the prettiest CGs I have seen in this game. I am loving them.

This slow mellow piano melody (I guess V's theme) is very lovely. It makes me sleepy in a good way. That gentle crescendo in the middle with the chimes gives me chills.

I actually like that we get to see more of V's hesitation & examples of him still struggling with the grieving process.

Yoosung is really lashing out here. I understand his frustrations but he is very blind to his own selfishness.

Aye, not to RUSH anything but uhh… when do I get to start giving answers like “V come save me” cause homeboy is at Mint Eye. I’m at Mint Eye. We can fucking leave Mint Eye together. Just saying.

“It doesn’t matter what happens to me” This almost feels like V’s emotions go beyond just self-sacrifice for those he cares about. This blatant disregard for his own safety feels very self-damaging. I’m wondering if they’ll tap into this idea further in the story. Does he not feel worthy of existing? Of love?

This is disgusting. Rika has some serious psychosis & V decided to suffer in it as some way to "prove his love". That's not love. This is blatant abuse. I'm appalled. V was blinded by 'love', literally & figuratively.

In the end, V was abused. He had his love for Rika twisted/manipulated & used against him. He was physically hurt by his lover. This makes me angry not just because it happened but because he gave consent. I’m just… so fucking baffled. You do not encourage someone who is mentally unstable (or even stable) to inflict pain on yourself or others as a means for them to try to maintain a grasp on their sanity or ‘happiness’ or because they want proof you ‘love them.’ V encouraged this, he allowed it, he consented & it fucking spiraled out of control. He took on so much pain. He thought by doing this he was somehow helping Rika, but it didn’t! It just made everything worse & Rika went on to hurt more people after this. Yes, I see that V is trying to redeem himself somehow, trying to keep everyone else out of the situation so they don’t suffer like he did & so they don’t get hurt but I can’t ignore the fact that V made mistakes in their relationship as well. Rika’s growing mental instability should have been handled with a lot more care (therapy ((if one doesn’t work try another)), hospitalization, medication). He knew from the beginning she was like this, no? He enabled these tendencies she had & it wasn’t good for either of them. I want to know his end goal. Was he just being selfish? Did he think only he could be a cure for her? What was he getting out of this since it didn’t read as if he was really being loved back. Did he do any of this out of malicious intent? No, I don’t think so - it reads as if he was doing what he thought was right but V made mistakes & I feel sorry for them both. V is a very tragic character indeed. He thought his love was some sort of cure-all for his lover but it wasn’t. This is actually very sad. In a way, I guess he did stop her from hurting others (for a time) or hurting herself, but that still doesn’t make this right.

I was heavily suspicious of V in the original routes (even though his voice was so goddamn sexy), particularly in Yoosung & Seven’s routes. I still think V is not entirely free from blame. I don’t think he’s by any means evil or manipulative, just misguided in what he thought was love but really was just self-sacrifice & pretty damn obsessive if you ask me. It also rings heavily of codependency. You don’t give up every part of yourself so your partner can find ‘happiness’, that’s not a healthy love. Love yourself a little more than that, Jihyun, please.

I don't like Rika. Yes, she did good things while ‘alive’ & at one point she might have been healthy & mentally stable but it spiraled out of her & anyone else's control into a very very dark place where she became toxic, manipulative, & delusional. She's done horrible acts that I refuse to look past regardless of her previous ‘good deeds’. Bad people can do good things for all the wrong reasons. She needs medical help, I can see that, but that doesn't mean I have to like her. Her words & actions against V are very selfish as well, demanding he prove his love by letting her physically hurt him? She targeted his need to please & exploited the hell out of that - backed him into a corner & kept badgering him about him proving his love (even though he seemed all too willing to do just that). This is wrong in every way. Mental illness isn’t a ‘free pass.’

This conversation between MC, Yoosung, & Jaehee felt very productive! Yoosung seemed to actually listen & take in another POV.

DAY SIX

Ok, I officially feel like I have no fucking idea what the actual shit Rika or V are talking about in any of their damn video novel conversations. Too many damn metaphors & nonsense. Yes yes, sunshine, flowers & dark skies. Let’s move along. I’d rather hear Yoosung crying.

Is this why he was so determined to try to be the outlet for her pain? He really thought this was his way of protecting her? A set of photos in his series was called Obsession, right? Was this all about an obsession with Rika? Makes sense to me at least. V is in deep, I'm questioning his mental stabilities as well in these flashbacks, honestly.

He wasn’t the cause of her “devil” but I think he certainly had an inadvertent hand in helping it flourish.

Real talk - Jumin, that was some outstanding advice. He’s telling this to his friend & they’re just children at this stage? That is some serious insight. I will never get over how Jumin, who is so emotionally closed off, is such a damn good friend to V. His delivery was impeccable as well, it wasn’t condescending or judgmental; it was sincere. It was very matter of fact but did have a hint of genuine concern for his friend. Their friendship makes me very happy & I am glad they have one another. This isn’t just a “little” chat. This conversation goes on to very likely change V’s entire life… & Jumin had a massive hand in that. I’m so amazed, y’all.

If they ever make a route of him, I will be very interested in seeing what the event was that causes him to finally shift personalities between Ray & Unknown (at least I’m assuming it’s Ray vs. Unknown & not Ray vs. Saeran).

Ok ok, in this VN, V expresses that he feels grateful to have been told by Jumin to not live his father’s life & to live for himself & make his own opinion about his mom. So… when is someone going to step in & tell V to not live his life for Rika, because ever since he claimed to be “her sun” that’s what he’s been doing… living for someone else again. V needs to live for himself, find what really makes him happy. A lot of this route so far hints that V is struggling with self-love & being ‘selfish’ enough to find what makes him genuinely happy. Also, Jihyun seems very sensitive to the opinion of others. That’s an interesting character trait - nothing wrong with it. I quite like that he’s played up as sensitive but tries to take on burdens himself to spare others - makes him a very tragic & compelling character.

Yep, I expected this from Yoosung. He’s honestly not as bad as I thought he’d be. He even voices that he understands he’s being unreasonable & whiney - he just can’t help the way he’s feeling. I’m sticking with that since I’m fully on board with my theory that V needs to learn to love & live for himself.

Ray’s best call is the one you make to him after 19:49. He cares so so much. He has so much to give despite being hurt & used & broken over & over again.  This was a great phone call. Devastatingly sad, but excellent for his character.

Where in the fresh hell did Vanderwood just pop off to? Last I saw him Seven asked him to look after MC. Then never again…

You bet your ass I chose the answer to tie Yoosung up. Like my thirsty domme ass was going to let that opportunity sliiiiiide on by. I’m not even surprised that Yoosung giggled at the idea. Bless his subby heart. Boy wants it bad. I am willing to give & give & give...

Whooooa 21:53 chat: “Ray has entered the chatroom” but ended with “Unknown has left the chatroom” I know this happened before but this is right before the final fight, right? Is Seven going to show up & find Unknown instead of Ray? Are they even going to do the brother reveal? Ray’s going to die, isn’t he? I can’t help but think that if V had told him, Seven would have tried harder, would have gone there personally. But then maybe Seven would get hurt too? Is Seven going to die?!

Yes, Jihyun! Find & love yourself! Live for yourself! This is an excellent idea! I approve of this. You need this. Forget about Rika! I wish you luck!

I mean, they did show him in the control room in Mint Eye. He gave his final words & then there was the explosion. Is it too silly to hope that he somehow got out? Maybe...

Wowowow. That final chat with Rika, begging like that. That was brutal. Even in the middle there she switched between pleading & saying she’d get revenge. I really do pity her & I hope she gets help in this route but at this point I don’t even know. I’m on this emotional see-saw where I really dislike her but on the other side pity her. I’ll admit, I’m spending a lot more time on the side of not liking her. 

DAY ELEVEN

She’s not dead. There’s no way. I won’t believe it until I see a body (same with Saeran). YOU CAN’T TRICK ME. I’M A VETERAN OF THESE PLOYS!

Jumin. Fucking. Han. This man is so good. He’s so strong even though he’s struggling himself. That “lean on me” line nearly had me tearing up. Jumin Han is a GOOD MAN.

Also, Jumin said it isn’t confirmed if the hacker was in the building or not. I mean, being in a direct explosion could very well decimate a body, but what if he got out? Ray did sound pretty desolate about not having anywhere else to go & did seem pretty resigned to this suicide mission though. This isn’t fair.

PARTY ATTEMPT #1 (Invited 24 guests) - Good Ending?

WHAT?! WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON? Is this like a “bad end” party? Why is she here? I fucked up, didn’t I? (I feel like the Minister of Magic in Harry Potter shouting “He’s back!”) ((If she gets to live & Ray actually died... I can’t. I’m still so angry.))

Yoosung, noooo!

OMG YOOSUNG, YES!

V’s mom has managed to make me tear up nearly every time she pops up on the screen. She had such impact on this route despite not be present in the here & now of it. She’s an angel. A fucking angel. Every CG of her’s has blessed me. This background story on her was so amazing. Her struggle & sacrifice for her son & finding purpose in herself after losing so much was... so beautiful. I’m going to cry again. 

BABY JIHYUN WITH HIS MOM CG. I’m crying for real. This is beautiful. The emotions for this were so so good.

What is with this game & Alaska?! Everyone is going there. Maybe Ray went to Alaska! 

That’s rich, Zen. Calling Jumin an alcoholic. Pot meet kettle.

Shit goddamn Jumin, was it necessary to be THAT savage about Zen’s selfies?

Jihyun turned into a beautiful happy hippie.

Hippie Jihyun is hot as hell. That smile. Wow.

Holy shit. “I want to love you. I will love you. I love you, just as I love myself.” That’s a damn good line! Damn good. 

Honestly, I am beyond glad, thrilled, immensely happy that there was a two year gap between Jihyun & MC actually getting together. If he had just jumped right into a relationship with MC after all of this, I would have questioned the foundation of the relationship. He was not emotionally ready for that so I’m glad the story allowed the time break so he could grow, heal, discover on his own.

I like that Jihyun wanted to be called his birth name again, not the ‘persona’ V that he’d created for his art, like a cloak or shield. He found & accepted himself & wanted to be that person. That’s beautiful. Self-love is very hard to achieve. I know a lot of people struggle with it, so it’s nice to see that represented in a character.

I want answers for what happened with Rika. We are just to assume she was sent off somewhere to get help with no updates?

I do not like that Seven was never told about Ray. I know it would cause more hurt for him, but he deserved to know. That just felt dirty. I feel dirty.

I am genuinely impressed that Yoosung was the one to stand up at the end to apprehend Rika. He was a little tornado this entire route & I was glad to see him finally understand at the end that this Rika was not the same one he cared so deeply for. Being the one to grab her & hand her in, had to have hurt him - but he stepped up & did it. That was good progression for him. Took him a long damn while to get to that acceptance, but that action of his took a lot.

I’m glad Jihyun’s route focused more on his development to turn away from obsession & look toward himself. It’s a similar kind of character growth in the other routes (learning to accept yourself & grow beyond something holding you back). These stories were never just about falling in love with someone, they grew to be better versions of themselves in the end. Jihyun’s development was definitely more artistic (cushioned in prose & woven in metaphors & abstracts) than others, but it was interesting just the same.

I like that they made such a big deal about Jihyun getting his eyes repaired. He refused to get them healed other times, but showing he was willing now & grateful to Jumin for setting it up was a nice touch to see how developed he’s become & showing he’s willing to let go of Rika (despite him talking about her every other sentence still…). Baby steps. He’s letting go of the hurt, recognizing he’s worthy of love & happiness too.

Maybe it’s just me, but was anyone else sort of wanting to see a CG of one of Jihyun’s paintings? I would have liked to have seen what they considered his painting style. He looks much more relaxed & carefree in his good ending CG, I wondered if his paintings would have reflected that.

PARTY ATTEMPT #2 (Invited 5 guests) - Normal Ending?

I really like this idea of Jihyun just venturing out on his own to find what he likes, what makes him happy. The self-discovery journey. But boy, you were just stabbed. I don’t think you can be discharged within a day after a celiotomy.

Jihyun talking about his dream house is ridiculously cute. This man essentially wants a little messy cottage in the city. How adorable. He went from being a materialistic & pragmatic teenager to being content with a sort of abstract pleasures in his adulthood.

Oh, so in this ending Jihyun asks MC right off the bat to be with him. Seems a little rushed, no? I don’t think he’s ready. He’s feeling a lot right now. Who is to say his obsession won’t transfer over to MC? He claims to have learned his lesson & to recognize the difference between obsession & love but I still think it’s very soon. I really wouldn’t want this to turn into Jihyun becoming dependent on MC after this emotional trauma & that being the basis for their relationship.

MC’S ONLY RESPONSE IS “ALRIGHT” Omg. So bland.

Are we to assume that Rika is actually dead in this ending? Because she never showed back up? Hmm.

So there’s a 2 year jump in this ending too, only we’re to assume that MC & Jihyun have been together as a couple during that time?

Wait, didn’t Jihyun say he wanted a little house in the city with curtains to block out the sun? This looks like a high rise apartment with massive fucking windows & sheer curtains that let in a lot of sun... but ok.

WHOA WHOA, Jihyun became a musician in this ending?! I want to know what he plays! Does he play piano like his theme song?! Does he play violin like his mom?!?! I will cry.

Jihyun’s pouty voice is ADORABLE! Holy crap where has this been all my life?!

Oh, interesting! He’s still very sensitive to the opinions of others (I mean, I certainly didn’t expect that to go away, you’re always going to fear criticisms). At least, he seems a little more open to hearing them, even if he’s hesitant to play for MC again since he wants her to like what he plays. He’s still a little shy, private, & sensitive. Cute.

Jumin obsessed with pancake recipes confirmed. I love him so much.

His answer about their relationship was very sweet & shows how he’s come to understand a give & take balance, as well as loving himself & genuinely loving together. That was cute.

Still pissed that Seven never found out about Ray.

I went from being very skeptical of Jihyun’s character (he just felt downright shady) in other routes to liking him (now that we see the depths of his self-damaging & self-sacrificing behavior & the full reason behind all the secrets). He’s certainly not perfect. He’s made many mistakes. He was misguided in a lot of aspects. He’s still learning & now trying to do better. He’s talented, pretty, sensitive, kind, & generous. He was a victim as well & even had a hand in his own progressing downfall before he realized his mistakes & reevaluated himself & the situation. I definitely like him a lot more now that I know the reasoning behind his actions & seeing the changes in him for the better - especially seeing him accept & appreciate himself more. 

Yeah yeah, I’m going to be that person - I’m sad we didn’t get a kiss CG! I wanted one, not going to lie. Maybe we’ll get one for his After Ending if he gets an after ending?! Who knows. I wanna smooch him, that’s for sure. 

I expected to like the normal ending more since I liked all the other normal endings for the other characters more than their good endings, however I find myself liking Jihyun’s good ending over his normal ending. I just can’t get past the fact that I think he needed that self-evaluation time away from MC. That two years apart (though probably a lot longer than I would have expected the game to do) felt necessary. In his good ending, Jihyun sounded much more certain that MC was who he wanted to be with & to love instead of asking MC straight away to just stick by him in his normal ending. In his normal ending, MC questioned him, & he sort of recited a dialogue about their love. Maybe I’m reading too much into this, but it sounded like he was trying to reassure himself? Or maybe MC was just trying to gently remind him that yes, what we have is real, & healthy, & good for both of us & just needed him to say it aloud? Regardless, good ending sat better with me overall.

I still want to know what the other photos were in that series of photographs he took. I mean Seven, sounded pretty damn shocked by them. We didn’t even get a line about if it was actual imagines of inflicted harm or salacious material (I’m not trying to be a pervert for once, I’m genuinely curious).

Ray deserved better. I don’t think I can put it into any other words than that. I was very upset with his end in all of this. He didn’t deserve that. Only Rika & V knew his identity. Rika is either dead or being treated somewhere (depending on whichever ending you cater to) & in neither of the endings did Jihyun make known that the hacker was Saeran. I’m legitimately angry about this. How can Saeran even rest in peace that way? Is only the audience (& MC) to mourn for him? Everyone (RFA) is mourning for Rika in a sense but Ray deserves SOMEONE who knows who he was. Sure, Rika has that moment where she screamed & felt remorse, but she still didn’t speak up. Would anyone have believed her if she had? Maybe not. But he deserved someone trying on his behalf. Maybe I’m sitting too long on this, but it felt dirty. I know I said that earlier somewhere, but I still think it. This was wrong. He died in an explosion, alone, with only two people knowing who he really was & they didn’t fucking say anything. Seven is never going to really know what happened to his brother, so what happens if he goes looking for him in the future? Fuck, I’m crying again. I’m so sorry, Ray. You didn’t deserve this, you just trusted the wrong people.

Everyday he logs into the chatroom to tell everyone the weird things that are happening around his dorm room

Lights flickering on and off

The chair scraping against the floor as it moves on its own

“Seven I’m telling you!!! My guild members all told me that they can hear a girl laughing whenever my mic is on!!!”

Will probably sleep at another member’s house for a while ;;;

And when he returns he’ll see you typing scary messages on his computer

Let’s face it, there’ll be a lot of screaming and tears from Yoosung

But when he calms down you two start talking and he finds out you're not such a bad person ghost after all

“Did you have to scare me that much, MC? I was terrified you know!” ;;;; poor kid ;;;

Spends his days playing LOLOL, going to school and hanging out with you most of the time

And it was great at first because for the first time, he got to play pranks on other people

You told him the answers for his tests it wasn’t cheating okay, you just told him enough so he could pass ;;;

You guys have so much fun together that you find yourself more and more attracted to him

But you realize he’s spending waaaay too much time with you instead of his friends

Instead of real people

He doesn’t even log in to the RFA chatroom anymore

And you tell him to live his life and just forget about you but he confesses his feelings for you and why is the world so unfair and cruel to him?

First Rika, now you? He’s so deeply and madly in love with you and he doesn’t know what to do okay

You guys cry together for the rest of the night

And you realize...he has to let you go

It will be painful --you would say goodbye but he’d beg you not to leave him

There will be a lot of tears and begging and arguing but in the end, you make him understand that you’re already gone, that he can never have a future with you

And he’s such a bright kid with so much potential

So you leave

Yoosung will be a zombie for months --all the RFA members try to help him but they can’t bring you back anymore

He starts recovering after a while, thinking you’ve gone to a better place and his grades start to improve

When he graduates he’s surrounded by the RFA members and his friends

He’s so happy that doesn’t notice you watching him with a smile on your face and tears in your eyes

Zen

How can a ghost look so breathtaking?

When he first found out you were a ghost, he couldn’t believe it because aren’t ghosts supposed to look scary and bloody? ;;;

He’s surprised that he could touch you but he’s relieved that he can

Fans and paparazzi would go INSANE trying to figure out who Zen’s girlfriend is

You guys will just laugh it off and you’d even scare some of the paparazzi stalking Zen

Date nights are something else

“One ticket, sir?”

And he would almost argue that the guy was being rude because the most beautiful woman on the planet was beside him

But then, nobody else can see you, can they?

He’ll hold his tongue and pretend everything's okay

But you see the weight it puts on his shoulders, and you’re so grateful to him for accepting you as is (ie. dead)

You always have the best seat in the house during his performances (aka hovering above the crowd lol)

But whenever you see women looking at him and Zen ignoring everyone, you start to feel guilty

Because those women were all alive and you weren’t; you may love each other, but your love can only go so far

And day by day you feel worse seeing Zen fawn over you when you can never give him a child who would inherit his good looks

So you sit down with him one night and discuss it with him but he immediately stops you

“MC, for a long time I’ve been in relationships where they just wanted me for my fame and my good looks. You’re the first person I’ve met who loves me for me. I want to spend my life with you. Someday, we’ll be together, my princess. Please stay with me until then.”

You agree to stay and you guys are happy for quite sometime but you still can’t shake the feeling that you’re holding him back

“Hyun...I need to go.”

“Go? Go where? Let me grab my ja--”

“No, Hyun. You can’t come with me.”

Dread and fear fills him

And you’re both crying because you both love each other and he doesn’t want you to go

But in the end, he makes you a promise

“My princess, I can’t stop you from leaving...but please wait for me. I will surely find my way back to you again.”

And after a successful career and a long and fruitful life, you’re there waiting for him with a smile

Jaehee

She only saw you when it was absolutely pouring, at the back of the coffee shop on her way to or from the office

You quickly became her confidante, someone she could rage to about her boss or gush about Zen’s work

It became a routine, since you were always at the same place at the same time

You don’t talk much about yourself, but she takes note of every little detail you give

And soon it all kind of adds up

There was an accident not too far from the shop, with one single fatality, someone at the wrong place at the wrong time

And her heart just;;;;

Breaks

She wants to help you, because you’ve been such a comfort to her, but she doesn’t know how

But you tell her that just spending time with her is more than enough

Her heart is bursting with tears

Spirits are usually caused by lingering regrets or emotions right?

Jaehee suggests leaving the coffee shop one evening, taking a walk

Cautiously, you accept, letting her lead you around at first before you take over, pointing out places you frequented when you lived, where you had worked, your favorite store, the people you had met, the plans you had made

She listens, beaming the entire time, urging you on

When at last, you find yourself back at the coffee shop, which is now closed for the night

“This was the plan all along, wasn’t it Jaehee? To say goodbye properly.”

She takes your hands and promises to think of you every day, and that she truly believes she’ll meet you again some day

You hug each other for a long time before you pass on

Jumin

It’s so fun to be invisible in a CEO’s penthouse and office

You cause a lot of trouble before getting caught by the one and only Jumin Han

He seems so dull, but he takes the whole ghost situation impressively well?

Asks you why you’re causing mischief at C&R of all places

And you reveal your death was a result of a poorly managed project that links back to his company

He’s stunned and ashamed

But you watch in surprise as he promptly tasks Assistant Kang with appointing an investigation team

And as you spend more time haunting his apartment with him you two begin to fall in love with each other

He’s so tall but that isn’t a problem when you can just float to give him proper ghostly kisses

Elizabeth the 3rd goes absolutely bonkers chasing you around, and the pictures Jumin attempts to take are so confusing and a mess of blurs and the rest of the RFA are so confused

Reads up on spirit lore so that he doesn’t accidentally hurt you with iron or send you away somehow

Requests that you not play tricks on his staff, including but not limited to his maid, his guards, his chef, his stylist, his nutritionist, Elizabeth’s stylist, Elizabeth’s nutritionist, Jaehee ;;;

But he would LOVE it when you scare the hell out of his father’s new girlfriends like he would have such a hard time keeping that smirk off his face

Everything is actually good with Jumin; he doesn’t mind being with you and often reminds you that you are the love of his life and he doesn’t care if you’re dead --he loves you all the same and he just wants you by his side

Nothing can harm you, no other guy can have you and you’re with him virtually 24/7 --he’s the happiest man alive

Until the day his father sets him up with another woman

They need to secure the next heir to C&R

And you can never give him that

He refuses his father, saying he doesn’t care about heirs but it’s too late; you realize you can never give him a future --no marriage, no baby, no growing old together because you’re dead

At the same time, the investigation of your death comes to a close, with consequences being given to those involved in the project

So there was no reason for you to hang around his penthouse anymore..right?

Even though you loved him, you know you can never be together

Jumin would tell you over and over again that he only wants you and needs nothing else but you but he can see he’s already losing you

And the day you leave him is the day Jumin Han becomes the perfect puppet of his father

Saeyoung

Hates making you upset for many reasons, which includes the fact that you can fry his technology with a mere thought

Neither of you exist in the world, but you exist to each other and that’s all you can really ask for

Think of all the pranks you can play on Yoosung

You leave messages in blood everywhere, reminding him to eat right and shower and clean up his workspace a little

It’s a little startling at first, but he finds himself looking forward to finding them

And looking forward to hanging out with you

And it takes him a while, but he eventually realizes he’s in love with you

Because you’re so much fun to hang out with and you get all his jokes and his puns

And he wants to spend his life pranking people with you

But remember his route, when he pushed you away so much?

This time, you’re the one who pushes him away when you realize that Saeyoung never deserved this

You’ll help him escape the clutches of his agency, help him start a new life

But it’s a life without you in the picture

“MC, please, don’t do this. I love you!”

“Saeyoung, you don’t mean that! I can never give you the future you want. You and Saeran deserve so much more”

“MC, please. Please.”

He would actually get down on his knees and beg you to stay

But it isn’t right and you both knew it

So when you move on, Saeyoung shuts down

And Saeran does his best to comfort his brother but Saeyoung is a hollow shell for a long time

Until one day he brings out 707 again and starts making jokes and saying nonsense and Saeran is both relieved and even more upset that his brother’s coping mechanism has kicked in; he knows Saeyoung is still devastated inside

Saeyoung asks Saeran to come with him to the cemetery and when they get there, Saeyoung stops in front of a tombstone with your name on it

And he starts crying again

“She was the one I wanted to take to the space station, Saeran.”

V

The famous photographer V seems to have a new muse in his recent works

The problem is he never means to

You just sort of show up in his photos

A hand caressing a flower here, the back of your head there, always just out of frame, making it impossible to get a good look

He doesn’t know what to make of it

So he posts the photos in the chatroom and it scares the hell out of Yoosung

Seven makes it 100 times worse and talks about all the signs of a haunting

“Better check your phone, V, make sure there aren’t any pictures of you while you’re sleeping.”

There aren’t but he finds dozens of black shots in his camera roll? Like his phone’s camera had gone off in his pocket or something

Right?

It isn’t until his equipment battery drains alarmingly fast that he tries something new

“Can I have a proper shot of you?”

And he uses his phone to take a few pictures around him

And in the very last one you’re there, a full-bodied apparition, staring right into the camera  

His heart stops oh God what is this Seven was right

You finally reveal yourself, a little embarrassed at being caught

But really if you could haunt anyone wouldn’t you choose a darling like Jihyun?

He’s so curious about you, but at the same time is reluctant to bring up any bad feelings or memories you may still be harboring

Being an empathetic being, you can feel a sort of sadness buried deep in his heart

You help him take photos sometimes, since you don’t have to worry about getting hurt and you have access to all these weird angles thank you floating skills

You still photobomb any selfies he takes and take shots of him when he isn’t paying attention

RFA is confused as to why is V suddenly posting enough pictures to the messenger to rival Zen‘s selfies???

Deep discussions at the dead aha of night

If there’s an afterlife, why did you decide to stay behind?

“I had a feeling that there was something I needed to do.”

“And that involved sneaking into my work?”

He’ll never stop teasing you for that

As you get to know him, you grow more and more adamant about him moving on from the past

Ironic coming from a ghost

He seems determined to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders

So you finally tell him about when you were alive and your untimely departure from life, and that holding on to what cannot be is what kept you here in the first place

While it has a silver lining and let you meet him, nothing good comes from never letting go of guilt and pain

This man is so moved

You believe in him so much???

“I'll try, MC, thank you.”

“You’d better or I'll drain every camera battery from here to the United States.”

Can you actually do that???

You urge him to reconnect with the RFA for his own sake

Being alone is fine and all but isolation is something else entirely

Take it from a spirit who hadn't had a real conversation with anyone in years

He reconnects with the RFA and when you finally see him surrounded by the people he loves you see a bright light

As V turns his camera to you, you smile at him and wave goodbye before moving on

Saeran

As a ghost, you were basically nonexistent to the living unless you made a racket

It was a very lonely type of existence

Until Saeran came along, and was able to see and hear you

Turns out he was almost as isolated as you, though more by choice stemming from his past

For once in his life, somebody understands him and accepts him for who he is

Aside from his brother at least

He looked forward to every minute spent with you and he wasn’t afraid to show you his true self; you didn’t judge him and you weren’t scared of him

He couldn’t hurt you physically and he enjoyed your company so there was no reason to hurt you with his words or push you away

But he would never hurt you --because he’s already fallen for you

You’re his guardian angel

Saeyoung would always wonder why his brother stays in his room for most of the day but he didn’t pry

So Saeran enjoyed his days with you

Until you started talking nonsense about how he should live his life and spend time with his brother more, be with other people

He had no future with you and you only wanted the best for him

“How would you know what’s best for me?!”

“Because I love you, Saeran! This isn’t the life your brother envisioned for you!”

“I will do whatever I damn well please with my time on this earth!”

“Saeran--”

“I love you! Can’t you see that? I love you, MC! I don’t want to live in a world without you!”

You realize that the only way for him to move on is if you remove yourself from the picture

And you did

Saeyoung was startled when his brother started screaming and breaking things and nothing he did could comfort his brother

Why was he destined to suffer? Why did you leave him? You said you loved him --was that just a lie?

Eventually Saeran gets tired and Saeyoung holds him as he cries

Saeran would have a hard time loving someone again

And Saeyoung would always hear him crying in his sleep

But eventually, everyone in the RFA would help him move on and Saeran will learn to smile again

He still misses you though, and there will always be a special place in his heart for you

Vanderwood

He’s not scared of you

In fact, he asks for your help ;;;

His missions are now a piece of cake thanks to you

There’s an enemy waiting for him in the next corner? You tell him immediately since he’s the only one who can hear you

Surprise CCTV cameras? No prob, you can scramble the wires by passing through them!

Your presence calmed him and he felt like everything would be okay as long as you were with him

After all, if you were dead, no one could find you, no one could harm you and no one could take you away from him

But that’s the problem

You’re already dead

He’s in love with a dead girl

And how selfish could he get, holding on to you when you should’ve moved on a long time ago?

He would push you away, telling you to move on or go “haunt a different house, I don’t care”

But he does care

He cares so much

Hey there !! Can you elaborate a little on why you think Jumin is emotionally constipated?? Thank you in advance :D

I sure can, my dearfriend. 

As you see, by definition being emotionally constipated meansnot being able to handle and/or process emotion. It doesn’t mean thatyou lack emotion, or that your emotional range is in any way limited.Jumin isn’t emotionless, he just has a very hard time understandinghis emotions. In fact, sometimes I feel like people who areemotionally constipated are as much, because once in their life theymight have felt too much, incapable of handling and thereforsuppressing said emotions. I feel like that might be the case withJumin.

So, let’s have a look atwhat could have caused such constipation:

His birthmother

Itis made obvious, on multiple occasions in the game, that Jumin’sbirth mother was divorced by his father early on and seems to be outof the picture. She is never mentioned and his step-mother is the onehe refers to as ‘mother’, which indicates that he doesn’t share arelationship to his biological mother. Such things are often hard onchildren, especially if my assumptions are true and the woman decidedto abandon Jumin and her father. I cannot imagine Chairman Hanrefusing to let his son see his mother, nor that Jumin – especiallyat such a young age – would not want to see her. Being abandoned bya parent can leave deep wounds in any human being, let alone avulnerable child. 

His step-mother

After being abandoned byone of the most important females in anyones life to have herreplaced with this particular step mother did Jumin no good. Not onlyis she an obvious gold digger to the point that even a child would beable to notice, from the interactions he has with her it’s obviousthat he doesn’t feel connected to her at all. She is nothing but aburden he tries to avoid at all costs. On top of that it is heavilyimplied that she has been sexually harassing him for quite some time,as he barely even reacts to her advances in the visual novel, almostlike he’s gotten used to them by now. So, the second female and corerole model of his life turns out to be a disappointment and failureas well. Once more, something that leaves a child rather empty andlost.

His father

Now while Jumin has a reportedly greatrelationship to his father, that might actually be a big reason as towhy he is the way he is. For one, without a second parent to 'fixate’on, Jumin had to give all his attention to his father. The father hefirst and foremost got to know as a huge businessman. While they doexchange gifts and nice gestures, that is hardly something you wouldcall a healthy, let alone warm relationship. Anyone can spend moneyon a gift for you, but you will feel none the richer for it in theemotional department. So not only did his father lack a certainemotional bond to his son, Jumin also had to watch him have a stringof empty flings. That could have negative consequences for multiplereasons other than the obvious. Seeing someone he looks up to somuch, as a father and a rational businessman, give away love tofreely to meaningless women, losing all his rationality must havehurt in many ways.

Upbringing

His upbringing, in myopinion, plays a big role in this as well. For one he learned earlyon that all the praise he got was empty and thereby worthless. As ayoung, impressionable child you rely heavily on what people aroundyou tell you. What your surroundings encourage or discourage you todo can change the paths you take in life rather heavily. It certainlydid for Jumin. Not being properly praised, which in his mind probablyequated to not being praised at all, made him develop an unhealthyperfectionism. With him it’s either 0% or 100% with nothing inbetween. Seeing the world like that though, black and white whileignoring all these shades of grey, generally speaking has negativeaspects on emotions, as they rarely fit into such simple categories.

Life in the public eye

I think this one might notbe something a lot of people would take into consideration, but fromthe moment Jumin was born his entire life was spent mostly in thepublic eye. He seems to be one step short of being a full blown idolwith people constantly throwing themselves at him. As an adult thatis already restricting and tiring, but growing up that way must havehad an impact. You learn early on to control yourself at all costs,seeing as any misstep could be broadcasted for the entire world towatch. For someone who is responsible for an entire company likeJumin, he simply cannot afford any mishaps. So, to prevent suchthings from happening, once more he is forced to conceal his feelingsand thoughts in order to remain diplomatic and flawless.

Rika

I mean whodid this bitch not fuck over, seriously? The only friend Jumin everhad was V and the second she stepped into the picture that friend waslost to him. Now some people might think that hey, just because youhave a relationship you don’t just forget your friends and you areright. For most people that is the case. However, Rika, V and Juminaren’t your usual relationship type of people. For one V iscompletely obsessed with Rika to the point of unhealthy. He iscompletely dedicated to her, willing to blind himself and thereforruin the one thing that brought him joy (and money) forever, just toprove his love. I think it is safe to assume that he would be one ofthose people to say no to a friend in order to say yes to a lover,namely Rika. So, not only did Rika take Jumin’s best and only friend,but she also took the last bit of heart Jumin had left. She seducedhim in a way he hadn’t yet encountered and didn’t understand untilmany years later – which we see in his route – and V helped herdo so. Rika wanted Jumin for his money to make her dream of Mint Eyecome true and not only did V not stop her, but he enabled her. Shetoyed with Jumin’s emotions and when he didn’t deliver the way shewanted to she brushed him off and Elizabeth the 3rdstepped in, all his love and obsessions 'wasted’ on a cat.

Misunderstood

Thisis my last point and it is an important one: Jumin is always andconstantly misunderstood and mistreated. In the chat no one reallyseems to be on his side, ever. Yoosung and Seven arebuds, Jaehee always sides with Zen in dissing Jumin while he himselfis all alone. Not only that, but all his attempts to fit in areconstantly blocked off. Having grown up with no other childrenaround, other than V, in a very posh and rich neighbourhood, morefocused on pleasing his father and meeting his expectations thanteenage lingo, Jumin has no understanding of things the others wouldconsider normal. They often tease him for it, making fun of him andonly pushing him further towards emotional isolation. However, whenhe actually attempts to understand they think he is making fun ofthem and quickly shut him down. They also feed into a lot of rumoursamongst others teasing him about being gay – which he obviouslyisn’t but the press made up to get some sort of dirt on his otherwisewhite coat – only making him feel the more isolated. His loveinterest is dead, his best friend abandoned him and the rest of his'friend’ hate and belittle him. Who would not attempt to shut theiremotions off? Well, sadly turning emotions off isn’t possible, butredirecting them is, no matter how unhealthy. Enter Elizabeth the3rd.

Now how does his emotionalconstipation show:

Mainly through hisobsession with Elizabeth the 3rd, his overly fatherlybehaviour towards the RFA and of course the intense love for MC inhis route. All the emotions he doesn’t dare express with anyone elsehe focuses on the only living being that has never fucked him over:the cat. Despite everyone being hella rude and mean to Jumin hestills acts like a father figure to everyone, trying to make up whathis father fucked up with him, or at least attempting to. He sendsYoosungs parents to see him, because he thinks Yoosung is lonely, notreally understanding that he might not like such invasion at all. Hesends bodyguards to everyone to protect them. He offers Zen jobs tohelp him and gives Jaehee a lot of hours to make her earn a lot ofmoney as he was taught that money was the most valuable thing in theworld. As for MC, that one is actually quite understandable. He onlyever loved one woman and that woman ended up failing him as wellbefore dying. Now he finally meets someone that not only he is drawnto, but who understands him, who sees his attempts at being a goodperson as such, who laughs at his jokes, who defends him in a groupconsisting of pairs where he’d been all alone and never even attemptsto go after his wealth, gradually erasing the negative image of womenthat had been created in his mind. After years and years ofsuppressing his emotions, of course he 'lashes out’ on MC the way hedoes. It’s like she breaks a dam inside of him and then gets a littledrowned by the wave of emotion before he learns to control it. 

Inconclusion: Jumin is a very emotional person, but doesn’t know how toexpress himself correctly and often misunderstands certain emotionsin others as well as himself. He denies himself emotion which makesthem come out in sometimes negative ways. All this poor boy needs isa loving and very patient girlfriend.

Chapter Two: Another Side (Of Me)

After MC stepped out of the bathroom in her newly changed clothes, she meekly walked out with her bag in tow. Upon re-entering the living room area to join Jumin, she quietly set it down and she had to stop herself from running into anything after their eyes met.

“I do apologize, by the way. I said that I was going to wait for you before I called the chef, however, I realize that I’d forgotten to eat lunch.” Jumin said to her as she walked closer to him. “I hope you like Lobster Thermidor.”

“Anything is fine.” MC softly complied, even though, truthfully, she had absolutely no idea what exactly that was. She had to constantly remind herself that this was Jumin Han that she was about to have dinner with, and she was expecting it to be nothing short of extraordinary — that was for sure.

“What material is that, by the way?” He caught himself eying her colorful, distinctly patterned pajamas. “I don’t think I’ve seen that kind of look in our clothing line.”

The brunette was slightly taken aback, having secretly hoped that he wouldn’t make a comment. All she could hope was that he did not have a clear distaste for them, for these were honestly one of her best sets. “Cotton...? I think?”

“Personally, I cannot sleep if I am not dressed in all-matching satin, myself.” Jumin continued to observe her attire, not because he was displeased but rather from feeling intrigued more than anything.

“I mean, in my opinion, who cares about style, when comfort is the obvious winner in this situation?” MC shrugged casually, not trying to look terribly insecure of herself in front of him regarding his remarks. She was already turning to make her way back to the bathroom. “I do apologize, though. I didn’t realize that we were going to have such a fancy dinner. Had I known I… wouldn’t have changed so soon. I don’t mean to respect you, sir... Mr. H—... I mean... Jumin... I…”

He immediately grabbed ahold of her wrist to stop her, to which it took her by surprise. “Please, MC. Don’t worry so much, and anyway, I told you to feel at home. Actually, if it makes you feel better, I’ll even change into mine.”

MC’s eyes lit up, amazed at how polite and willing he was to adjust even the smallest things to make her more comfortable. As she watched him turn his heel to swiftly walk to his bedroom, she was still in disbelief on whether she was in a dream or if this was reality.

When he came back, she felt like she had to hold herself back from letting her jaw hit the floor as she reveled in his perfect figure hugging the jet black fabric of the satin pajamas that he said he wore. She looked down for a moment and sighed, feeling rather ordinary in comparison.

“Is there something wrong?” Jumin asked as he knelt down to her in order to better read her expression, worry quickly spreading his face.

“Be honest, Jumin...” She hung her head low, playing with her fingers before proceeding to point at herself. “Do you think that what I’m wearing looks... tacky?”

“Are you joking?” His expression practically aghast. “Was that all? MC, come on, you look good in anything. If you’re talking about your pajamas, though, then I’d say they’re absolutely adorable.”

“You’re kidding...” MC laughed, a dismissing hand waving across her face displayed her insecurity and denial of the truth behind his response. “I bought these for fifteen bucks at the Mall-mart just a week ago. They’re hardly compared to anything you own, I’m sure.”

Jumin shook his head, a small smirk peeking through the side of face as he winked at her. “Stop that. You know better that money doesn’t buy good looks — or happiness, for that matter. In fact, I’m actually looking forward to having dinner in our pajamas.”

“You mean it, Jumin?” MC gasped happily, watching him nod in response with crossed arms. “I’m sorry if I don’t have much to offer, but I still hope we can have a good night together?”

“Don’t be ridiculous.” He couldn’t believe how hard she was being on herself, his smoldering, gray eyes softening as he stared deeply into her own. “How silly of you to say that. Just having you here with me is enough to make the rest of my night that much better. Come. Dinner will be ready soon.”

After some time, MC watched curiously as she watched his chef promptly prepare dinner and set the table for them both. She could hardly believe his keen, swift hands as he worked. She and Jumin eventually joined each other as they sat opposite of each other once he was done, with only freshly made food, an unopened bottle of white wine, and a handful of newly lit tea candles between them both.

“Really... This is too much, Jumin.” MC’s eyes widened to the size of saucers, unsure of how to react at the spectacular presentation. “A-Are you sure about this?”

“Are you forgetting who I am?” smirked Jumin as they managed to meet each other’s gaze again within the dim lighting.

“I didn’t question your capability. I was referring to my own self-worth.” She clarified, smiling sheepishly back at him.

And this response certainly took him by surprise, for sure. His elbows touched the table as he twined his fingers together. He seemed to be focusing his full attention on her now.

“MC… How do you do it?”

“Do… what?” She raised her eyebrows in confusion.

Jumin felt a strange, fluttering sensation in his chest. He had to catch his breath as he caught a glimpse of her nose wriggling slightly. After a moment, he sighed, shaking his head as his soft smile peeked out once more. “Never mind, let’s eat.”

MC was practically culture-shocked as she stared at her plate. This was the fanciest dinner that she’d ever had in her entire life, and meanwhile this had probably been a typical evening for Jumin.

Jumin popped the bottle of wine open as he served them both, talking extensively about each other’s taste in liquor as they gradually helped themselves to their meal. After some time with small conversations in between, they finished up in silence. Once MC cleared her plate, she got up from her seat, blew out the candles, then began gathering the dishes and silverware together.

“What are you doing?” The young man asked with widened eyes, also getting up from his post.

“The dishes…?” MC said matter-of-factly as she promptly walked over to the kitchen sink.

“Leave them. I’ll have my maid take care of it in the morning.”

“You already got dinner, so I should clean. It seems like a pretty fair deal to me.”

“Don’t, please. You’re my guest.” He insisted, taking the dishes from her hands in one fell swoop.

“Which is exactly…” She took it back from him just as quickly. “…why I have to do them.”

“MC… Don’t do this.”

“But Jumin, I want to.”

The two of them continued this playful tease for a while, going back and forth between who was going to get the other to cave in first. When he saw MC hold the plates above her head with both of her hands, Jumin went for the opportunity to attempt at grabbing them from behind her, but she drew back quickly out of surprise and it caused her to fall backwards onto him.

MC gasped, feeling the force of her own body come in contact with Jumin’s. He, too, was certainly surprised, for he stood frozen in his tracks. She could feel her heart thumping against her chest, unsure of what to do next. She lowered her head as she put the plates down on the counter to break the silence, feeling Jumin’s arms retreat back to him right after she did so.

Jumin had opened his mouth to say something, but his thought was quickly withdrawn as he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. “I… have to take this call. I’ll be right back.”

Heaving a sigh of relief, MC watched as he turned his heel and walked down the hall to another room to attend to this private manner. She decided to leave the dishes be for now, walking over to the couch and taking a seat. Crossing her legs, she pulled out her own cell phone, logging into the RFA app and checking to see if anybody was on the messenger for the meantime.

To her surprise, MC saw that Seven and Jaehee were online, and she opened up a new chatroom. She explained to them both that she made it to Jumin’s place safely and that she was being treated well.

707: But MC, isn’t it really late?

Jaehee Kang: I thought that too… It’s my fault.

Jaehee Kang: Things were so hectic that I didn’t even check the time.

Jaehee Kang: I should have asked you to go tomorrow morning.

“It’s okay. I’m glad I got to see him sooner.” MC smiled as she glanced over at the room that Jumin headed off to after typing this out to them. She took a moment to detach herself from her revelry and fixated her focus back onto the messenger app on her phone.

707: MC,

707: do you plan to stay the night there?

Jaehee Kang: …No way. ^^;

MC decided to stay quiet about her plans to sleep over, secretly excited to be at a place aside from Rika’s apartment but, more importantly, also to be in Jumin’s residence, with him. Her mood deflated significantly as there were then talks about Glam Choi and the tabloids that spread like wildfire all over television shows and social media sites everywhere. She expressed empathy at the stress that he must’ve been undergoing, wishing that there was more that she could do for him.

Seven then went on to explain to the two women about how if even more shocking news ended up replacing the currently trending story, it would be possible that it could steal the lime-light away from Glam and Sarah.

707: After a night filled with roses,

MC blushed simply at the thought, seeing herself with him in this beautiful visual image that suddenly blossomed in her mind. It was almost as if he were a perfect fit for her, and her fantasies of sweet-nothings and marriage dissipated as quick as it came.

“That can’t be good for Jumin’s reputation…” She sighed a little sadly as she said this instead of how her original feelings told her to respond. She felt at peace, however, feeling like there was possibly some kind of hope for them, but not quite right now while things were hectic.

Her eyes rolled as Seven continued to crack his usual set of jokes, noting Jaehee’s apparent irritation throughout their conversation. MC later expressed her concerns of Yoosung getting to Seven’s place safely, as the red-headed hacker began to explain his busy-work spent apparently wrapping boxes full of Honey Buddha chips for his friend — among other nonsensible topics.

When he swiftly left the chat without much warning shortly after, MC stayed and talked to Jaehee about her hopes that Jumin returning to work the next day. After she reassured her that she would try her best, she bid her good night.

MC heard the muffled sound of Jumin still talking to the person on the other line, though not clearly enough to decipher the conversation he was having. She didn’t want to bother him, but also didn’t want to touch things without his consent. After some time, she settled with comfortably staring out at the night sky from the glass doors leading to his patio, taking in the view as she let her thoughts quietly settle in her mind.

Suddenly, she felt her phone in her pocket go off again, pulling it quickly thinking she was getting a call. However, it was just a notification of Zen starting up yet another chatroom. She decided to enter it, in hopes that she could convince him further with reassurance of her safety and get him to stop bugging her so much about her being at a man’s house.

Zen blatantly expressed his concern of MC being at Jumin’s pent-house from the get-go, however, to which she already expected. She snickered at this, knowing full well she was going to have to repeat herself plenty of times again that night. After some time, it appeared that Jumin, himself, went in to the chatroom on his own smartphone, which let MC know that he had just finished up with his call. It wasn’t long before they began bickering continuously, just as they always did whenever they were in the same chatroom. He continually lectured Jumin about treating MC like a lady and to not come onto her before she were to leave the next day.

ZEN: If you have a conscience at all, at least send a photo.

Jumin Han: A photo?

ZEN: Yeah!!! A photo of you two together!!!

ZEN: I have to check with my own eyes that MC’s safe

Jumin Han: No.

ZEN: What…

Jumin Han: I don’t want anyone else to look at her.

“lololol Jumin, you’re cute.” MC’s face turned cherry red as her grin widened in tow. If her hands weren’t holding her phone, she would probably be hiding her face in them.

Jumin Han: I’d like to sincerely thank her for taking the risk to visit me

Jumin Han: Is there anything she wants?

She heard footsteps, and before she could even blink, Jumin came from behind her and took a seat next to her on the couch. He looked over at her expectantly, to which she gasped lightly in turn.

ZEN: Are you ignoring me?

MC dropped her phone despite it blowing up with notifications of Zen spamming the chatroom, burying her head into her now free hands as she tried hard to hide herself away from Jumin. She couldn’t let him see that she was clearly falling for him.

She still looked up at him eagerly, however, and their eyes remained fixated on one another. He rested an arm on the back of the sofa, scooting himself closer to her as he began typing again but with only a single hand.

Jumin Han: I’ll make strawberry pancakes for you tomorrow. What kind of tea do you like for breakfast?

MC: You don’t have to… I can cook.

Jumin Han: No, you’re a guest. I can’t make you work.

Jumin Han: I’ll prepare everything that you need. Just stay by my side.

“I don’t know why, but I instantly felt better.” Jumin says this aloud as he also proceeds to type the same response on the messenger after some time, explaining to her that she helped him significantly.

MC giggled after he said this, backing away a bit as the two continued squabbling about matters again, that especially of topics involving Elizabeth the 3rd. Jumin regrettably wished that he continued to ignore Zen instead of speaking to him again. Somewhere in between, she made attempts to convince Jumin to go back to work, to which he spoke to her directly outside of the messenger as something that they would discuss for later. She backed him up against Zen calling him out as the “Trust Fund Kid” born with a golden spoon shirking his responsibilities like a negligent coward. This was getting old.

The brunette slowly reclined farther and farther back as the conversation continued. Her feet began to dangle from the sofa, as she made a huge yawn. Her arms proceeded to outstretch above her head before she took her hands to her eyes to rub them.

Jumin Han: Oh.

Jumin Han: MC seems quite sleepy.

Jumin Han: I should put her to bed.

“P-Put… me to bed…?” Her mouth agape as she glanced over at him once more, feeling sure yet unsure of what exactly he meant. He looked her straight in the eye as he worked on putting up his reply to the messenger.

Jumin Han: Of course.

Jumin Han: I can’t let you sleep alone.

Jumin Han: I’m going to go to the kitchen. I have some things to organize. Wait a sec.

[Jumin Han has left the chatroom.]

MC watched as he rose to his height and placed his phone on the table, turning only to have a quick glance at her as he walked off to the opposite direction. She practically forgot that there was another member in the chat, although she couldn’t help herself from rereading the last few messages that Jumin sent for the members to see. Did she really deserve to be treated like this?

ZEN: MC, are you really okay?

ZEN: Still… you’re alone with a guy…

MC: I trust Jumin.

And she says this with absolutely certainty, a wave of relief flowing through her. Still, Zen continues on with his repeated “big brother” lecture before eventually expressing his need to take a shower after a long day, and bid a good-intentioned farewell before taking his leave.

MC then followed Jumin over to the kitchen, who stared out deeply in thought as he rubbed a finger underneath his jawline. Her pace slowed, hoping to not be interrupting anything. However, she stopped where she was when he turned around to face her.

“Jumin, what are you thinking about?” MC tilts her head to the side in attempts to take a better look at his forlorn expression.

“Oh, it’s nothing…” He dismissed whatever thought in his mind rather quickly, his eyes directly at the brunette. “Just… old memories. Aren’t you sleepy? If you are, you can sleep on the bed. I’ll turn off the lights.”

“Where will you sleep?” MC asked, concerned. She definitely noted the sudden change in topic.

“It’s fine. I don’t think I’ll sleep.” He squeezed his fingertips along the bridge of his nose. “I have some things to think about. But nothing for you to worry about. Just rest up on my bed.”

She obediently followed this as she gently climbed onto his bed, for she had had a long day, as well. The thread count on his sheets must have been through-the-roof ridiculous and his pillows must have been touched by an angel — or something along those lines — because she had never felt something so comfortably luxurious before in her life. Her eyes watched as the young man began dimming the lights in the room.

“If you feel uncomfortable at the change of scenery… do you mind if I read for you?” She caught his eyes as it sparkled from the city lights that found its way in through the patio’s glass sliding doors.

“Please do. I’ll feel more comfortable if I hear your voice.” MC admitted, hoping silently that the lighting was dark enough for him to not notice the hint of pink in her cheeks.

Jumin took his place at the edge of the bed on the same side that she laid on, a book in his hand. He had a firm hold on the burgundy leather binding, flipping to a specific page as if he memorized the entire story like the back of his hand. “I’m glad that you want to hear it…”

Her breath slowed as she saw him scooting rather close to her, the wide smile on her face especially harder to hide now. But his own face seemed to soften as he returned the same look back at her. She caught him letting out a light chuckle as he began to read.

Jumin’s voice was softer than his usual tone. He earnestly explained to her about how the book was from a special “friend” – Rika, to be exact. He talked about how he put off finishing the story when she asked him what exactly it was about, because he didn’t want to end it knowing its sentimentality. From there, he continued to recite more lines from the book. MC tuned in intently as she let his sweet voice find its way into her mind — her heart. She found it soothing the way he gently, yet eloquently, he spoke. It was like music to her ears.

“I feel as curious about you as I was with her.” He turned his eyes away from the pages as he found himself bringing Rika back up again. “It’s amazing to feel the way that I do right now. I’d love to know more about you.”

“M-Me?” She pointed at herself, shocked at the quick transition he made.

“Yes, you.” Jumin grinned, clearly amused. “I didn’t realize when we were just talking on the messenger. But now that you’re right beside me, I really want to know you, MC.”

He continued to open up in a way that she didn’t expect. They hadn’t known each other long, but in the few days since she joined the RFA, she knew for a fact what she was getting into. The rest of the gang warned her about pursuing a relationship with Jumin, and that the ice in his cold heart could not be melted. MC was uncertain on whether or not she had actually gotten him to his point quite yet, but she knew that she was willing to keep on trying — for him, maybe even for them, if he allowed it.

“You made me turn all my focus on you… Thanks to that, I’ll be able to stop thinking about all those troubles. MC, thank you so much for coming. I feel so good that you’re here.” He brought his face tantalizingly close to her, his voice lowering to a near-whisper now. “I… never want to let you go. One day, once I finish reading this book to you, feel as if all my threads will untangle.”

While trying really hard to decipher what exactly that meant, he stopped her thoughts abruptly as he pulled away, gently placing the covers over her body and closing the blinds to his patio door. “It’s getting late, though. I apologize for keeping you up this long. Sleep well, MC.”

“Get some kind of sleep too, Jumin.” She told him worriedly, watching him walk off.

MC sighed happily as she let the waves of sleep lull her into a sweet slumber, hoping for Jumin to appear in her dreams…
