Previous - Start Road to Recovery - Next

So I poured my heart into this update because this is what the core of this comic is. Unsurprisingly, between the silly jokes and the drama, Road to Recovery is first and foremost, a story about trauma recovery. Which is the reason why Robbie, just like in the game, is stuck with Sparky instead of Eli: because this is about what happens after abuse and trauma, and how things can get better even if the road is long and recovery is not a linear thing.

This is the end of the first... part? chapter? The prologue?? I guess. To be honest my original goal was just doing this. I'm awful at finishing my own projects so I told myself that if I just managed to finish the first part of this thing it would already be a success. But I had a lot of fun doing this so I will keep working on this and wil keep updating.

So there it is. They are friends now. I hope you liked this first part of the story. I know the pacing has been a mess. This is my first comic, english is not my first language and this has been my first attempt at drawing after almost 6 years of not touching a pencil. But I learnt a lot about storytelling, and and comics, and had a lot of fun, and that's one of the reasons I plan on keeping updating this.

Also thanks @moosemonstrous for your continous support while doing this and helping me make sure the english made sense.

Finding out that deepsea fish can turn their their photophore lights on and off makes Wraith and Viscera's hunting alot more scary in the daRK-

Somebody asked me if Tobi and the Janitor/Sully would be friends which I will get to (short answer: yes), but the thought of that leads me into Ghost Hunter Reader choosing the restaurant as their next haunted location. FF's harem would be mad jealous seeing the human Ghost Hunter be so lovey dovey/friendly with another being who clearly isn't human either.

FF Reader: You're like the only person who shouldn't speak right now.

My ramblings here:

I'll talk about Hunter first because it's the shorter one. A lot of the terms that were used back when Hunter was alive to talk about disability are now considered offensive, including some that were used in medical diagnoses. Some of these words were already insulting to begin with, but others became slurs as people started using them as insults. And being a good person who was raised in an environment that was progressive for her time doesn't mean she's automatically going to know that now that she's come back. So yeah, she fucks up.

About Robbie. He doesn't like her, he's had a bad day, he's already stressed and she just straight up insulted Gabe. And something that @robbiereyesangr114 pointed out is that Eli probably has already used every existing slur to talk about Gabe so yeah. She stepped in a big landmine I don't think it's our of character for him to blow up.

Something that's stablished is that Robbie is used to defending Gabe. I mean, his first reaction when he finds out Guero and his friends bullying Gabe is not panicking or trying to talk them down, but throwing a punch even if that means that he gets beaten down because they outnumber him. So yeah, it's not the first time.

I personally think that this also means that he has probably been punished a lot for doing protecting gabe, because unfortunately, something that happens quite often is that the people who face the bullies end up facing more repercusions than the bullies themselves. I don't think he's going to react well in the moment to being told to calm down or someone justifying what just happened, even if it comes from someone he usually trusts.

So huh yeah. I think that's it.
