Hey! My moms finally letting me get a pokemon of my own, so i was wondering what the best dark or ice type would be for someone new to taking care of one? Battle potential doesn’t particularly matter to me, i just want a friend :3

Im also concerned about size, because we dotn have a huge house and me and my sister share a room, so i cant have a big pokemon

Well, congratulations on gettin' for first 'mon! Dark and Ice types can be a bit tricky to work with, but despite the rumors goin' around about Dark types, some of 'em can be very beginner-friendly!

For Dark Types, there are a few that are small and tame 'nough to be pets. Alolan Meowths and Rattatas are an option, but you need to have a strong personality to keep 'em in check or else they can become a bit spoiled or destructive. If you're lookin' for something a bit more chill, I'd say you should learn about Inkays! They are small, not really conflictive and can be pretty social if you end up with more 'mons in the future.

As for the Ice Types, they are a bit more needy in terms of the environment and husbandry they need. Some of 'em, like Smoochum and Sneasel can live in warmer climates, but most of 'em don't; and that's something to keep in mind if you live in places like Hoenn or plan to travel 'round. Spheals are great buddies, very cuddly and social (and, bit loud), and Alolan Vulpies are very popular for a reason!

And lastly, this is very common, but there's also Eevee! They're picked very frequently as a first-time 'mon, and you can evolve it into Umbreon or Glaceon eventually once you get to know it better!

I have a few questions about Echo!

1) when did she know she used to be Darkrai? My guess is at Dark Crater, either when she first laid eyes an Darkrai and just *knew,* or something about Palkia's speech about what could happen to Darkrai after being attacked in the portal.

2) what caused the scar on her neck? (Probs darkrai tbh)

3) alright so this is probably me overthinking things but did Echo change genders?? Asking cause Darkrai is typically referred to as 'he/him', and he has a distinctly masculine voice in his movie. Plus, it also makes sense with Darkrai and Cresselia being opposites: Cress is canonically a female while Darkrai is depicted as a male, full moon vs new moon, sweet dreams vs nightmares, day and night, light and dark, and so on. So did Darkrai go from he/him to ???/??? (as a 'human') to she/her? Did Darkrai just not give a shit? Have we been accidentally misgendering Darkrai this whole time?

Basically I'm asking b/c 1) confusion, and 2) is it another layer of symbolism about how Echo is nothing like her former self?

The truth about Echo's past life as Darkrai clicked the moment she first met Cresselia within Azurill's nightmare.

Not only did she piece the truth together because the sight of her long-lost sister-- someone she had scorned and despised and hated in her original life-- jarred her so much that it cleared away some of the fog in her memory. But it was the feeling. The rush of anger, of fury, the ache she felt upon seeing Cresselia again after years and years of separation. It awoke something inside Echo that felt real in a way she couldn't ignore. Like a puzzle piece finally slotting into place.

And even more, Echo had her suspicions leading up to said point. She cannot dream at all. Not ever. Never figured out why during her time as a human and Eevee, and yet other Pokemon tend to suffer nightmares around her (even as a human, this ability Bad Dreams never went away) which had caused some pain for both Sora and Grovyle over the years. And Echo never shared the secret that she doesn't dream. She never confessed to suspecting that these nightmares might be her fault, so Sora and Grovyle never understood the origins of their own nightmares either-- but Echo was able to deduce that she was indeed the source of the problem. Especially after Chatot had explained that Darkrai caused nightmares and pain wherever he went, and the correlation between Echo's powers, her amnesia, her sudden appearance on the beach, her life with Grovyle in the dark future, the Dimensional Scream/connection to the Time Gears, and Darkrai's personality were too coincidental.

What solidified this conclusion is that while Cresselia was traveling with Team Wish during their attempts to reach Dark Crater, Sora did not suffer nightmares at all-- for the first time in what seemed like ages. And it was a like a gut punch, a vicious stab in the heart, and Echo immediately knew why. It was because Cresselia was accompanying them, and her gentle light purifies bad dreams and brings good health. Someone that could cancel out the nasty effect Echo seems to have on others... and it did. Cresselia DID cancel out these nightmares and that could only mean one thing.

And Echo was angry, then. Angry at Cresselia. Angry at herself. And fueled that anger towards fighting Darkrai for the sake of everyone she loved.

You're right! The scar on Echo's neck is indeed from Darkrai. In fact, both of Echo's scars (the large one along her neck AND the one denting her leg as an Eevee/Umbreon or rather on her arm as a human). Each one was received technically at the same time, but with a twist! During the final battle at Dark Crater, Echo and Darkrai both went berserk and clashed in a desperate attempt to knock each other out.

Echo inflicted a wound onto Darkrai which took sizeable chunks out of his forearm. When Palkia shattered the dimensional portal it then instantly scarred that injury and Darkrai then carried it through ALL future lifetimes. Which is why Echo still has that scar as a Human -> Eevee -> Umbreon. Despite Darkrai receiving this injury during the peak of their final battle, Echo has bore it for all of her past lives up until the point she actually GIVES it to Darkrai. A new wound for him. An old wound for her.

Simultaneously, Darkrai inflicted the neck scar onto Echo who then carries this mark the rest of her life as an Umbreon. It's a bit of a coincidence that her neck scar ends up somewhat, strangely, resembling the red fringe that Darkrai has around his own neck. She finds this to be some kind of messed up joke being played on her by the universe, because now there's ANOTHER reminder of her old life being thrust in her face whenever she catches a glimpse of her reflection. (It's bad enough looking like Dusknoir as an Umbreon, but now this too? How unfortunate.)

A major purpose to these scars is that I think they are a bold (albeit complicated) way to show that both your past and present choices can cause self-harm when destructive, and that it can leave permanent marks that will haunt you through your entire life (or lives in this case!) but that in the end it doesn't define you. Despite everything, you can still grow beyond the trauma inflicted upon yourself. You can be more than the bad choices that hurt you. You can learn to live beyond your own perception and expectations! You can let go of your own mistakes and let them heal/scar, let them fade. And move on to be better.

And my friend, you are not overthinking things. I haven't explained Echo's progression through her life-stages yet, but hopefully I can shed some light on that topic now. (Apologies ahead of time if this is overly convoluted!)

Echo did change gender! Like this:

(Darkrai) he/him or they/them -> (Human) they/them -> (Eevee/Umbreon) she/her or they/them

The reasoning behind this particular progression is that I am guilty of inserting the main game lore into PMD. Whenever I think of legendary or mythical Pokemon (that aren't officially assigned male or female like Latios and Latias) I always immediately think of them as nonbinary in my mind. Darkrai in the PMD universe seems to use male pronouns as mentioned (or rather in the movie, like you stated, had a male-presenting voice) so I think Echo would have used he/him as a personal preference while living as Darkrai. However, he was still technically "genderless" as a mythical (or even nonbinary) and thus was comfortable with they/them as well.

Echo as a human is nonbinary and no longer uses male pronouns. I like to think of them as Echo's "blank slate" form. They think, feel, and appear in very simple but strong terms. And as such their gender binary has been washed away too! They use they/them because it's what Grovyle chose when he met them in the dark future. Grovyle decides that Echo is human based on what minimal knowledge he's gained from ancient tales/myths/glyphs about extinct humans, but he has no idea what a true human would look like since humanity is long dead. And since Echo has no distinct male or female characteristics as a pseudo-human, Grovyle doesn't shove them into a specific box of labels and instead starts using they/them to accommodate. Echo accepts it. Besides, with both amnesia clouding their past and a body that doesn't quite fit, Echo never really felt compelled to argue against his decision. It seemed counter-intuitive and like a waste of energy to argue. Echo was too busy being angry about other things to really care.

Echo as an Eevee/Umbreon uses she/her pronouns. This is because Sora starts using them immediately upon meeting Echo on the beach, and Echo (with a second round of amnesia and a body that now presents more towards female appearances) accepts it because it just makes sense. She has no memory of her past, and because Sora wholeheartedly starts calling Echo "she", well, Echo just goes with it. Because someone as sweet as Sora must know what she's talking about, right? She doesn't seem like the type to lie or play pranks, after all.

Additional note: Even as an Eevee/Umbreon, Grovyle still uses they/them for Echo since that's what he's used too. And Echo is fond of him using it anyway, so she is comfortable with it. It feels like a little promise between them. And it brings back some of the sparse good memories Echo had with Grovyle while stuck in the dark future together.

Additional ADDITIONAL note: Once Echo and Cresselia have begun reconciliation and start repairing their sibling relationship, she often refers to Echo has her "brother" out of old habit (eons of habit, really). Cresselia normally apologizes for the mistake and tries to correct herself but Echo isn't bothered by this at all. "I'm still your brother," Echo tells her, "If that's what you want to call me, then I see no reason to stop." And Cresselia appreciates it, because she's really trying, but it might take a little bit to re-train herself.

And you got it, my friend! The change in Echo's pronouns IS symbolism about how Echo has grown/evolved beyond her original self. That she is no longer the same being of pain and fury that Darkrai was-- and that she has moved away from this shadow of her past. That she has struggled to become something she's proud of, someone tempered by patience and hope. Love has changed Echo, and thus Echo is happy with this new version of herself because her loved ones chose it for her. And she is okay with that!

I also really enjoy the idea that while Echo and Cresselia are still opposites in both powers and personality, they now share common ground on at least ONE thing after being entirely different for their whole mutual existence. They can relate. They can be siblings again. They can heal. And they do together, they work and work and work on being good to each other and being overall better individuals. And they learn to love each other again. <3

Admittedly I'm not the best at this. Also confining it to the first couple generations (mostly 1-3), as that was what my dream was set in and also the ones I know best (though I still heavily consulted Serebii for this). But here's kind of what I'm thinking for the team...

Jonathan (THE): already assigned, with art and everything! Shiny Magikarp, later evolves into a white Gyarados. As a bonus, the Sapphire description reminds me of him in the castle too: "MAGIKARP is virtually useless in battle as it can only splash around. As a result, it is considered to be weak. However, it is actually a very hardy POKéMON that can survive in any body of water no matter how polluted it is."

Mina (POWER): Despite the name suggesting Fighting-type, I really wanted to do Psychic because that's what makes sense for her. I thought about the Gothita line but not only are they not present until Gen 5, but the descriptions don't fit her as well. I also liked the idea of the Ralts line particularly as Gardevoir has text about knowing the future and sacrificing itself for its trainer. But I think overall I prefer Eevee at the start (super adaptable and interested in lots of things)... and then teetering on the edge between Umbreon and Espeon near the later stages before finally evolving into Espeon just in time. We get the affection+daytime evolution which seems fitting for her, and again the description emphasizes Espeon's loyalty which also works well.

Jack (OF): Got so stuck on this one. I was drawn to mostly Electric or Bug types, but nothing stuck out to me as perfect. Venonat line is kind of fun. Nocturnal is a nod to his poor sleeping habits, big eyes because he's always looking and noticing stuff... Still not so sure on for him.

Arthur (LOVE): So I obviously want a dog. And I think Normal-type fits him. But there are no Normal-type dogs until gen 5. I thought about going with either a different type or an earlier dog pokemon, but honestly I think the Lillipup line works for Arthur too well so I'll break pattern and pick that. The whole line is about herding dogs who want to help keep other pokemon safe and I think that really suits him. Plus, moves such as Helping Hand where he boosts another pokemon's abilities, or Odor Sleuth that allow a Ghost-type to be hit with Normal/Fighting moves are perfect for him. That said, my second choice is Growlithe because they're also dogs who can have those moves, and are friendly/loyal with a good sense of smell that can pick up emotions. I just think the Fire-type and the Arcanine are a little less of an overall match.

Quincey (AND): He's generally quick to act and observant, so I was thinking some kind of bird for him, maybe. I like Ground-types for cowboy vibes but I think overall Pidgey line fits best for him. Quick, alert, large territory, beautiful plumage, a classic. I kind of feel like both he and Arthur would already be on their second evolution when you catch them, so he'd be a Pidgeotto already.

Van Helsing (VIOLENCE): The first thing I did was look up who can use Confusion or Supersonic, haha. I did consider Abra line but other than the super high intellect of Alakazam I don't think it fits best. And honestly... I know it's kind of a weird choice but weirdness itself feels fitting for him: I almost picked Lickitung. Abilities being Oblivious or Own Tempo works, the whole 'licking everything new to memorize it' kinda could go along with him having a million degress, and some of the moves work pretty well. Supersonic, Knock Off, Wrap, Disable, Refresh... I think overall I might lean towards Mr. Mime, though. Also an odd one, but the description mentions its ability to convince people of imaginary things which then become real and that seems fitting for him. Also the various Barrier/Light Screen type moves make sense for him always warding away vampires, and he's got Confusion and Double Slap too. Him being personally weak to Dark/Ghost types might make sense in some parts and make others more difficult, admittedly.

full disclosure, this au started as a joke.

so for the last two-three-ish weeks i've been playing with the idea of a pokemon au for the p5 cast, it's been living in my head rent free, and it's been developing with a speed i definitely was not expecting but am not about to question, and there is definitely an impending fic in the making. so i decided i'd try something new where i actually introduce an au on here before i start posting the fic itself to my ao3 and yes this is partially because my co-developer-slash-beta-reader-slash-best-friend has art pending for this. just gonna do brief introductions (as brief as i can manage anyways; proper character introductions are coming soon!) so without further ado, here we go :D

setup: this is obviously set in the world of pokemon; however it is not set in any particular region. this is partly because i wanted to keep my options open when selecting pokemon for the main cast. in addition, the main cast have been aged up to college age, with the pts in the 20-23 range (as of right now akira will be 22 and the rest will be adjusted around that). pokemon journeys begin around 17 or 18 and there's not as much pressure to start a journey as soon as you're old enough, which is why akira is only just starting his. non-thief confidants will be making appearances, though most will be only minor. also, morgana is not a pokemon - he is still a cat, and he can still talk. this will be explained much much later. for now here's the main cast:

akira: the one on a journey! he lives with sojiro, who runs a pokemon cafe in a small town, and futaba, his little sister in all but blood. he likes to run a mixed-type team and calls home often

ryuji: trainer who specializes in electric types! he was supposed to start his journey right at eighteen but wasn't able to due to his leg injury. he grew up with his yamper, which evolved into a boltund a few months into ryuji's recovery; the boltund is his best friend

ann: fierce fire type trainer who loves to travel! she's in a long distance relationship with shiho, who lives in a neighboring city. her starter pokemon was fennekin, which sparked her love for fire types; she's very protective of all her pokemon

yusuke: ice type trainer whose real passion isn't pokemon battles but pokemon art! he has a goal to paint every pokemon, and he's slowly working his way through every one he can find, starting with his beloved frosmoth. but he can't explore the world just yet....

makoto: the youngest steel type gym leader in her city's history! at only twenty, she was able to beat out several older candidates for the position of gym leader through her sheer skill and her coordination with her pokemon. her skarmory is a force to be feared

futaba: a young intern whose mother was a pokemon researcher! she mainly works remotely from her dad's cafe, but she's dead set on someday being able to visit her mother's lab. she's great with pokemon, with her umbreon providing comfort from darkness

sumire: the trainer with an uncertain path! her sister once ran a grass-type gym in their city, but she's been in a coma for months. she's not sure how to move forward. fortunately for her, mimikyu found her at her lowest and could help her choose a future....

i'm really looking forward to posting this au, both in the form of actual fic on ao3 and fleshing out the details here on tumblr! i've got big plans for the story, which is shocking for someone who struggles with plot so often, so i think this'll be a fun experience. can't wait to share more :3

Ok but.... Pokemon. What if pokemons were real and everyone would have they own team (maybe not 6, but 2/3). I MEAN GHOST TYPE WOULD BE SO GOOD. Also i cannot unsee at least one assassin having Nickit! It's pokedex entry has written that they are very silent and It erases they own tracks with swipes of its tail. THAT IS STEALTH. Also thievul can marks they targets with scent that help them stalks it. Like the bird in newer games. (Sorry for my english!)

I am totally unqualified to make Pokemon teams for AC characters as I have only finished one Pokemon game: Red. I am soooo unfamiliar with all the Pokemons (hell, I don’t even know what gen we are now???). I mean, I played Black, X, and Let’s Go Eevee but I never finished them. XD

So all I can offer you is this:

Desmond gets booted into Detective Pikachu AU idea

Whatever Pokemons Desmond gets, he must have an Eevee that does not evolve at all. This is to represent his endless possibility. The only possible Eevee evolution I think we should allow is Sylveon because we all know he’s going to spoil that Eevee. Two other possible Pokemons he could have are a CastForm that forever stays sunny whenever near Desmond (and is really more like a pet and doesn’t go to battle) or a Solgaleo. Just… give him a sun-themed Pokemon for the irony.

Going with the Eevee idea, his ancestors all have one specific Eevee evolution. Edward would have a Vaporeon, of course. Altaïr would either have Espeon (a reference to the psychic-like powers of the Apple) or a Jolteon (pokemon.com has Jolteon as the fatest of the Eevee evolutions). Ratonhnhaké:ton would have Leafeon or Jolteon if Altaïr has Espeon. Ezio would have Flareon (because I am mean and making this a Cappadocia reference, sorry Ezio). Haytham would have a Glaceon or an Umbreon. (Or, if we’re killing off Edward anyway, give Haytham Edward’s Vaporeon)

Altaïr would definitely be the cover-all basis type of trainer so, yeah, he’d have 6 Pokemons of various types (some even dual types).

Considering Nickit’s habit of stealing, I can see Edward or Ezio having a Nickit.

Honestly, all of them having a Thievul might make sense. Like they’re an unknown shadowy organization that’s known for (1) wearing hoods, (2) having Thievul and some kind of (3) Ghost-type Pokemon on their team.

I think Mary should have a Gardevoir and that Gardevoir stays with Edward after her death (I mean, if Mary dies in this one. I’m not saying we should kill Mary, just saying…)

Evie and Jacob having Nidoqueen and Nidoking would be funny. Like… their father gave them the Nidorans as their starter Pokemons. Even funnier is if Evie has the Nidoking while Jacob has the Nidoqueen. Or, if you want them to have newer Pokemons, they both received a Charcadet when they were young and Jacob’s evolved to Armarouge while Evie’s evolved to Ceruledge. Just, they should have one Pokemon that’s like different evolutions of the same Pokemon (or opposite of the other’s Pokemon).

I think Shay should have a Froslass as a reference to how Rogue lets you travel to icy parts and how the last parts are set in an icy location (not counting France).

I can’t explain why but I think Arno should have a Greninja and they’d be a tag-team.

Of course, Eivor gets a Corviknight.

I honestly like the idea that Desmond, Altaïr, Ezio, and Ratonhnhaké:ton all have an Alcremie because someone got them to twirl around and strike a pose to evolve their Milcery… who records the entire thing. (I’m betting it’s Edward. It has to be Edward)

Minerva appears as a Gothitelle. Hell, she could be pretending to be Desmond’s Gothitelle. Idk, Gothitelle can predict the future (or just the lifespan of the trainer?), it sounds right that Minerva is Gothitelle or something.

I have this conundrum. I kinda like the idea of Altaïr, Ezio, and Ratonhnhaké:ton having distinct Pokemons related to one another. Now, my first thought would be they would each have Kanto starter Pokemons to show how they’re the first main characters of Assassin’s Creed. Or, you know, they would have the legendary birds of Gen 1 instead to show their legendary status. But, at that point, I thought, why not just give them the Raikou, Entei, and Suicune setup from the Detective Pikachu AU? At some point, my brain goes why don’t they just have a Deoxys each with Desmond having a normal form, Altaïr getting the speed form, Ezio getting the defense form and Ratonhnhaké:ton getting the attack form?

And that’s when my brain gave up and went “Fuck it, give Desmond Arceus. Lol.”

Travis is a furstylist in Lightfire! I think he’s the main furstylist.

MORE HEADCANNONS FOR NIKEY AND WINONA (AND OTHER RELATED THINGS)

(This posts a little shorter than the last two!)

Nikey has patrols all over the world to make sure nobody is trying to secretly clear up the thick smog in areas he doesn’t have eyes on 24/7

Winona managed to acquire a decent sample of the dark smog for studying, though it was quite the risky heist! (It might as well been a heist at least.)

She, and the scientists she’s hired, are trying to figure out ways to dispel the small sample of the smog in hopes they’ll find a solution capable of doing so. Once they do that, they hope to produce the solution en masse, hopefully it’s not too resource-heavy to create it.

Ex-Team Sky members do not only use flying types anymore. In fact only-flying-type-teams are seen as a symbol of Nightsky and are highly frowned upon by The Sun’s Children.

Winona has an Umbreon and Espeon <3

Pokemon with night vision are highly sought after and owned by The Sun’s Children. It’s a lot of cat-Pokémon, cave dwelling Pokémon, and also Pokémon who don’t have eyes and rely on other senses (I.E. Zubat, deino, zweilous)

Lizard Pokémon and other reptilian Pokémon have difficulty keeping their blood warm due to lack of sun and as a result lack of places to bask in the sunlight. The same can be said for grass type Pokémon, and also fairy type Pokémon aswell.

Ground, rock, poison, ghost, and dark type Pokémon are thriving under the smog, since most of them can live decent lives without sunlight.

Winona has put out orders and parties of people to search for Pokémon in need of help and bring them to one of the places she or her colleagues can help them from.

As you can imagine most ecosystems who don’t rely on sunlight have been mostly uneffected by the smog. Of course like I mentioned in my last headcanon post, the same cannot be said for ecosystems such as forests, rainforests, oceans, deserts, ect.

I can’t help but draw slight parallels between Winona and Nikey, and Toriel and Asgore. It’s only slight! But the parallels are still kind of there.

It would be incorrect of me to say Nikey does not miss Winona, but the difference in how they miss eachother is that, like I said in my last headcanon post, Winona misses how Nikey was before Paldea, Nikey, though, just misses her in general.

I also think Winona also is kind of like Asgore in the sense he just wants to keep the underground hopeful and wants them to have some sort of future to look forward to. Winona holds sort of the same position

A lot of buildings and regions across the world have fallen to ruin due to most people flocking to places that have the limited (but not small) amount of places Winona and her colleagues/supporters can help support and create sustainable life to the best of their abilities.

A lot of people have taken for granted the joys of the world before. Amusement parks, sweets shops, tourist attractions, travelling the world, going on big grand adventures with your Pokémon, and especially being out and connecting with the world/nature.

Winona and her team/supporters have been able to slowly start to bring simpler things that aren’t exactly necessary for survival. Tv stations have finally been able to broadcast more lighthearted and easily consumed content instead of constant news nonstop, restaurants have begun to reopen across the areas Winona has reach in, and there have been parks commissioned all across those areas aswell.

She is absolutely putting effort into keeping children educated and entertained. Most young kids don’t really understand what’s happening, though some children are getting very cynical about these things. She understands where they’re coming from, and it’s difficult to try to atleast keep them a little happy and give them something to look forward to, but by Arceus is she going to try with all her heart and soul.

She is trying her damn hardest to keep people happy, hopeful, and fulfilled in any way she can all while running an entire rebellion. Of course she still has help, a lot of it, and she’s so, so grateful for it. It’s really admirable.

playing desolation, and by the time I post this I will have Caught up to Desolation! This is my own opinion and review on the game! For the record I've only played Rejuv and now Desolation of the entire series. In terms of pokemon fangames i have played ep 1 of Flux , Gaia, and Unbound. Disclaimer and TLDR: the game is Very good as I expected I had fun :] . The devs worked their ass off and the fact this game is free and has this much shown effort is so awesome. when ep 7 comes out i Will be reviewing once again. It wont be for more than a year though given the recent dev update. either way!

Pros:

I love the spritework sort of thing for the dialogue, when important characters come on. It's very pretty!

the credits system is gen p interesting. motivator for getting exclusive pokemon and items and even the capsules + mints, which imo is much better than the AP system that was in rejuv. its more easier to achieve and more incentive.

also HELL YEAH sidequests! I loved the tidbits of main lore u get from certain ones, and certain choices. Inch resting!

The difficulty still makes me work Hard to think but doesn't kill me with a bajillion reset and planning so that's all fair and good 👍 the only one I had to rlly drive home for was Jarred. Jesus fucking Christ. i had valerie flashbacks from rejuv but its worse cause it was a DOUBLE BATTLE.

the SPARKLES. lifesaver for me who loves the shiny sprite reworks in this game. i have a beautiful shiny greninja, umbreon, hydreigon, and vikavolt. Vikavolt is my favorite shiny i love whoever reworked that. Jade is so so pretty :]

the music is KILLER. Vs Shiv and Vs Nova is Good. Very Good. honestly the ost choices here rock. one of the best ost selections i enjoyed it very much.

interesting story! I can sort of peel bits of it off and it'll probably come back later to haunt me. Act 3 REALLY ramps up stuff so it did sweep a good amount of confusion I’ve had since the beginning. Act 3 was great. I miss Tristan. Nova's character is Great when it reaches a certain plot point.

I love the rangers bases, and the sidequest lore does build up nicely on the side. its starting to interfere with the main story too which hmmmmmmm hm hm hm. i will wonder about that.

Criticisms/ personal nitpicks:

i mentioned this above but i wish the ui for sidequests was a bit more clear. Like location wise, where to go, and all that. Icons above characters would rlly help me distinguish things.also PLEASE add flashing settings and shaking sets automatically to the options board pls pls pls.

I hope there will be more featured fields in the future. I did mention this was the more lax difficulty ive been through involving fields, and i watched playthroughs of reborn and played rejuv myself. (idk if theres more games with the field system but do let me know its literally one of my fav things). Like it went from oh God to oh ok to hmm to Oh God like a cycle. Though I think that’s just on my team balancing rlly

Please..... more TM versatility. While it does allow me to get creative with my team choices, it also limits what I can actually do. My TM pool is so low and i want to get creative so bad :']]]. The TM shop at Sunshell was a huge improvement though. very stingy though at lvl 65-70s though.

i Do Not like the maps for specifically silver forest and blackview. Its either very cluttering and makes me walk in Direct Circles, or leaves me very lost when im searching for a specific area. I do get the "open area" aspect of Silver mountain though, and it was easier once I got all the bridges down but still yk? but i literally couldn't find the move relearner Anywhere in blackview. it took me forever.

I wish i had more time to spend with some of the characters (Scarlett particularly) so i could rlly grow attached. I do understand that these are mostly main plot points blasting off from each other, but i just wish I could have had more interactions with the characters? More funny dialogue, more MC options to talk and affect relationship values, yk? I do anticipate an arc for a particular someone coming up though. so we'll see. the plot did do a rlly good job at the ceilia leaders though I adore All of them.

some of the language i winced at. idk if its just me so ill leave this one in the air. i dont know how to feel because im muddled.

In a way, because the plot blasts off one another, the room for me to acknowledge the changes in characters or their relationship between each other was a bit small. Like Connor and Scarlett, I think I only got like two cutscenes or tidbits of their entire growing friendship, so it didn't rlly hit me when The Scene Happened. Either way I do like themboth thumbs up.

SPOILERS THOUGHTS DO NOT READ IF U HAVENT PLAYED OR DO NOT WANT TO KNOW:

I ADORE Cecilia’s leaders. I’ve seen complaints how we seem to be Stuck There for some time and. Yeah I can sorta agree with that. Despite being Rlly Huge it also makes me Yearn for the Routes yk? either I love them all I Adore them dearly. Garrett is my favorite he got to me. Reeve and Rosetta and Aaron are all so very charming in their dynamics and gym leader squabbles.

Waldenhall is a Great Character in his introduction holy shit what an impact this guy had. also artem's sprite made me laugh so hard because their (idk their gender) portrait is just staring straight at the camera whats up w that.

Conclusion:

Should you play this game? YES. its quality is amazing, the artwork is insane, the gameplay is so good for pokemon fans who enjoy a good challenge, and want to get into some existential crises. In general, this series is So Far the easiest in the reborn deso rejuv trio. but it doesn't by far make it bad, or a cakewalk for players. Have a good ol time with it. My criticisms are my own nitpicks, but i rlly admire how much effort devs put into their fangames, by semblance of story, custom art, custom maps, etc. appreciate them lots and lots more. This game in particular weighs your choices a lot more, so you rlly have to snoop around for a particular result that you want. all in all lots of good fun!

i'm not the same person i was 6 years ago when i made my first social media account on twitter when i wanted to join the crowd and hype for the nintendo switch launch.

i'm not the same person i was, whether it be for better or for worse. it's kind of hard to tell at this point.

i've ebbed and flowed and gone through so much. i'd like to think i changed majorly maybe 3 times in these 6 years. falling in and out of interests, picking up or losing skills or tolerances, attitudes towards everything really, and friends coming and going out of my life has been a constant.

it's kind of depressing having this be my first post on tumblr, and if twitter does go kablooey then i might as well take the time to reflect passively if this is marking the next chapter in my life :)

i was told to not appeal to an algorithm on tumblr, and i think i'll do that. i'm going into college for the first time and there's going to be alot of change happening in the next few years. let this post be a marker of who i am in june/july of 2023, moving from twitter after my first account in january of 2017.

i love almost everyone i've met and kept in touch with with such a big heart. my first friend group on minecraft on A2MC, then celestial squids, then the waifu team ze, and the krd, then to omxgas and pocket splashdowns. every single person i've called my friend (except those who i actively hate), i appreciate you all; if you manage to see this post in one way or another whether it be next week or 50 years in the future. id love to name everyone but obviously privacy and. it feels dehumanizing listing everyone like a spreadsheet. it doesn't feel right.

i've been living with bad thoughts for ages at this point. while they may never go away, i'm at least doing things to keep them away when it really matters. which is probably why im writing something like this but whatever. no one will ever understand the true depravity/extent of my thoughts and feelings, and maybe that's okay. i'm one true me and only i can figure out how i feel and how to navigate it. i know who i can trust. i know who are genuinely good people and i know who makes me happy, and how i can return the respect and understanding.

if i find any of my current friends or even old friends, lets talk on here or something. id love to, despite being so socially anxious.

I Saw Her Again.

You ever feel like life is just one cruel, endless, cosmic joke? Like, you’re being forced to sit front row at the comedy of your own misery, and everyone else is in on the punchline except you? That’s exactly how I feel every single shift at work, every single time I see her. The goth goddess. The alt queen. The absolute embodiment of everything I’ve ever wanted and everything I will never, ever have.

She’s like something straight out of a dream—or maybe a nightmare, because the sight of her reminds me of how hopelessly outclassed I am. The choker necklaces, the loose black sweaters with her shoulders exposed like some kind of goth siren, and those thigh-high leggings that I swear must have been crafted in a lab to torment me specifically. Even her boots are perfect—those knee-high buckled masterpieces that clack against the floor like the death knell of my soul.

And her hair? Don’t get me started on her hair. Always in that two side-up style, with those cute little bows that make her look like she just stepped out of some anime I’ll never have the budget to watch legally. It’s like someone took every internet waifu I’ve ever loved and painstakingly crafted her to exist in the real world just to mock me.

She doesn’t even need to talk to make me feel like trash. She’s quiet, keeps to herself, just sitting in the break room reading Tomie or My Dress-Up Darling. And every time I see her, I’m hit with this wave of pure, agonizing attraction. It’s like she’s a Final Fantasy VII character made flesh, like if Tifa or Aerith had a secret goth sister who also played Genshin Impact and Baldur’s Gate 3.

The other day, I caught a glimpse of her phone wallpaper, and it was Cloud Strife. Of course, it was. And you know what? I can’t even hate Cloud because that would mean hating her taste, and I can’t even do that. I’m pathetic.

But here’s the real kicker: I’ve never even spoken to her. Not once. I couldn’t even say “hi” if my life depended on it. I just sit there, drowning in this pit of self-loathing, because what’s the point? Women like her don’t want anything to do with men like me. I know it. I’ve seen the TikToks. The ones where girls share horror stories about “creepy dudes” who hit on them at work or on the street. I’ve read the comments, seen the memes. Women don’t even want guys looking at them unless they’re hot.

And guess what? I’m not hot. Not even close. I’m like... the opposite of hot. I’m the guy they make TikToks about. I wear the same clothes every day because I can’t afford new ones, and honestly, I don’t even care enough to try. I don’t shower every day. I don’t brush my teeth every day. My life’s already a dumpster fire; what’s the point of pretending I’m salvageable?

I’m $10,000 in debt, for crying out loud. Even if I somehow found the courage to talk to her—like, let’s imagine a parallel universe where that’s possible—and even if she didn’t immediately recoil in horror, what could I offer her? Nothing. No car, no money for dates, no future. Just me, standing there like an idiot, while she realizes she wasted 30 seconds of her life talking to a loser.

I hate this. I hate her. Not in a violent way, but in this soul-crushing, helpless way. I hate how she exists so perfectly, so effortlessly, while I’m stuck here, a failure of a man, unable to even say a word. I hate that she’s everything I’ve ever wanted and more, and I hate that I’m everything she would never, ever want.

It’s insane how much I think about her. Like, she’s more in my head than Belle Delphine or Amouranth ever were, and that’s saying something. I didn’t think it was possible to feel this strongly about a real, actual person. I thought the Umbreon gijinka art on Tumblr had ruined me forever, but nope—she did. This real-life goth anime waifu has somehow eclipsed every fantasy I’ve ever had, and it’s torture.

I see her reading Tomie, and I can’t help but think, “Of course you’re reading Junji Ito. Of course you’re into dark, artsy horror that’s way too cool for me to even pretend to understand.” I see her reading My Dress-Up Darling, and I want to scream because even her manga choices are perfect. I bet she loves Marin Kitagawa because she sees herself in her—quirky, fashionable, effortlessly attractive. Meanwhile, I’m over here, some faceless NPC she doesn’t even notice.

The worst part? I can’t even be mad at her for ignoring me. Why would she notice me? Why should she? I’m just some broke, unwashed loser who can barely scrape together enough self-respect to show up to work. She doesn’t owe me her attention, and I know that. I know it, but it doesn’t stop me from wanting it.

And it’s not like I can just “better myself” or whatever garbage advice people like to throw around. Where am I supposed to start? I can’t even afford therapy, let alone a gym membership or a decent wardrobe. And even if I could magically transform myself into someone worth noticing, what then? Would she even care? Would she even look my way? Or would she still see me as just some random guy who doesn’t exist in her world?

I don’t know what’s worse: the fact that I’ll never have her, or the fact that I can’t stop wanting her. It’s like she’s living rent-free in my brain, and I can’t evict her no matter how hard I try. I hate myself for it. I hate myself for how much I care about someone who doesn’t even know I exist.

I’ve tried convincing myself that it doesn’t matter, that she’s just a co-worker, just another person I see at work. But then I see her again, and it all comes flooding back—the longing, the bitterness, the hopelessness. It’s a cycle I can’t break, and it’s killing me.

Maybe this is just my life now. Sitting here, stewing in my own misery, watching this perfect, unattainable girl live her perfect, unattainable life while I rot away in the background. Maybe that’s all I’ll ever be—a spectator to someone else’s happiness, someone else’s perfection.

God, I hate this. I hate everything about this. But most of all, I hate myself for caring so much. Because at the end of the day, it’s not her fault I’m like this. It’s mine. And that’s the worst part of all.

I'm planning on evolving my eevee into an espeon for type coverage reasons, which means I need to take her to a move forgetter so she doesn't evolve into a sylveon due to the Alluring Voice that she knew when I got her from a breeder. That's her favorite move to use when we do battles (her other three registered moves are hyper voice, calm mind, and covet) so my brother says it would be so cruel to her that she won't evolve if I do that. I'd teach her the move again right away after she evolves, I just want her to have a chance to be an espeon because you can't get sun dust very easily outside of Orre and I'm absolutely not going to Orre. Do you think it would really make her that unhappy that she wouldn't evolve?

I was gonna delete this blog but I'm keeping it a bit more just to answer this question :3 Your brother seems to be assuming she really wants to be a Sylveon, you gotta figure that out with your Eevee and no one else, have her hang out with other Eeveelutions at the park, or maybe take her to one of those fancy Eevee breeding shows, see if she seems to vibe with any evolution in particular. You gotta pay attention to these signs (under cut cus I got a bit excited lol):

Eevees that want to be Sylveons will not only try and learn faerie type moves, but they can be seen trying to acquire Sylveon abilities like Cute Charm! They can be seen being weirdly flirty to other pokémon, specially other faerie-types because they can learn moves from them. In my experience I also found that my girl Farelos would spend a lot of time bonding with everyone she met and would often try to bring Pokémon friends home with her, never forget, Faerie types are cute and loving but they can be very playful and mischievous also.

As for Eevees who want to be Espeons, something people don't mention much but is very true is that both Umbreon and Espeon are very protective pokémon, and that personality trait is the first sign they might evolve into those types. If your Eevee wants to learn stuff like Reflect and Rest thats already a step in the right direction, but just like Sylveon, spending time with psychic types and having fun in the sun with those psychic types, or you! Just a fair warning though, Espeons WILL wake up their owners to spend time with them as soon as the sun is up, if you like to stay up all night and sleep late an Umbreon is a better option and getting one is not so different from getting an Espeon (though Espeons tend to be less likely to steal your shoes while you're sleeping in the middle of the night)

Other small tips for the future are this: Glaceons LOVE ice cream and hate sunny days, and have the same desire for charming others as Sylveons. Leafeons, much like Espeons, love the sun though! And before evolving might forget to eat trying to photosynthesize. If your Eevee keeps sleeping on the TV or PC they're probably trying to evolve to Jolteon, Eevees who sleep on rice cookers are trying to evolve to Flareon and Eevees who keep yelling at the door everytime you go to the bathroom because they want to shower with you no matter WHAT want to evolve to Vaporeon

Ok I talked too much and already answered your question long ago, TL;DR pay attention to your Eevee and her needs, but also remember Eevees are adaptable and will change for your own needs too.

New Pokemon are coming to Pokemon Unite! (and my drafts are obsolete once again...)

A long while ago, I made a post on this blog talking about 4 pokemon that were leaked and coming soon to Pokemon Unite. At the time, one of those pokemon was Lapras, whom I had already made a moveset for, so the leak and official release made my old post outdated.

The other 3 pokemon were Goodra, Chandelure, and Umbreon, the latter two were pokemon I had sitting in my drafts at the time of the leak. When the leaked pokemon were officially released, I had made two posts regarding what my version of the pokemon were compared to the official post (Umbreon - Chandelure).

This is relevant again because, well, it happened again.

Now, I won't be vague this time. I'll just say straight up that, of the three pokemon shown here, Mimikyu and Meowscarada both had movesets sitting in my drafts.

Granted, both of them came out as the exact same archetype I had planned for them, but if I had made a draft for Blaziken, it would've been a Speedster, but I'm really glad it's an All-Rounder with a really cool moveset.

Now of course, I will be uploading the original draft along with my commentary once the pokemon are officially released. I do have to say that I'm surprised Meowscarada is the first Paldean Pokemon to join Unite over Tinkaton. Maybe she'll join officially in the future, who knows?

Maybe I need to get off my butt and start on Season 3 if I don't want this to happen again... When I have time...
