Completely unrelated fandom post but I've been getting back into Dragon Age again for Veilguard and I had to make a lil doodle of my HoF 😔☝️

His name's Godfrey Drogo Cousland, but most people call him Fred. (Drogo, if you're a freak) (Keeping up with the weird ass Cousland name cause what the fuck is a Fergus?!)

Godfrey (Fred lmao) is very much about duty first before anything, since Bryce probably raised outstanding citizens. He did, however, throw a tantrum spanning multiple days when he was conscripted by Duncan. (Understandably so) He was the most bitter, conniving cunt in Ostagar but quickly straightened himself when he realized the threat of the blight. Also has a bit of a soft spot for Alistair (they do gay shit like care for each other) due to the whole grieving thing.

Unlike Alistair, he is the model Gray Warden, morally dubious and always thinking of the greater good. Alistair is sort of his moral compass, urging him to do better than just the status quo.

He's found home in the Gray Wardens. He's skrunky 😔

Last year when s4 dropped, the fandom was confused whether Viren passed out bc he had a nightmare or bc the resurrection spell was failing and I even made a post about it saying why I believe it was a nightmare. After that I wrote a draft of how I thought it would play out, bc my plan was to make a comic of it.

It would have been funny if I'd have managed to do it bc I cut really close, but the final version was more light on the tone of what I wanted it to be! I always saw Viren as a character that was desperately searching for validation, ever since that scene where he looks into the mirror and shouts at it calling it useless and meaningless and being left to stare at his own reflection, and also in the books, when he's about to give his life for Harrow's, so In my drafts Viren would be back at the day Lissa left him, not what I thought was his first time dealing with rejection, as I always believed it was a trauma passed down by his parents but we didn't get to see his past too deep, but certainly the first one in the timeline series (unless we count kappar, which I tend to do but we don't know any details yet?). Then we'd see harrow and the scene that he rejects Viren and then Soren, when he decides to leave him in s3 when he does not accept the spell on him (Viren does not know that Soren killed his clones).

It's interesting that in a way the actual nightmare does go through the rejection theme, but more in the subtext, when in the scene with Harrow he actually accepts him, and says he's sorry. Also when baby Soren runs away. But overall I interpret his nightmares as him confronting his guilty and responsibilities, not exactly the root of what led him down his dark past. Which I don't know how to feel? Because there's no healing without recognizing, but it does makes sense that he's not going that deep and worrying more about the aftermath of his actions, the man is about to die, he doesn't have time to process his traumas 🤣

Anyways, the point of my drafts was that I thought Aaravos would feed him more clearly through his weakness, and I wanted to play with that scenario. It was always a thought in my mind that Aaravos somewhat had access to those nightmares, I think that is hinted on Callum's, right? He is able to detect which person in a room is tinted by dark magic, and control it like a puppet, so him being able to influence the nightmares is not Farfetched. But yeah, Aaravos was the only one in the narrative, aside from Claudia, that validated Viren's pursue of power and protection of his morals. I truly do not think Viren wanted to rule Xadia for the sake of ruling Xadia, or that he wanted to be king for the sake of being king. That man is one paranoic neurodivergent bitch that can only feel safe when doing things with his own hands and I relate so much ☝️😔

7. What is your deepest joy about writing?

best part about writing is i can just write the most self-indulgent shit ever and then i read it back later and i'm like hell yeah this is exactly what i'm looking for! i'm not kidding i frequently go back through all my documents rereading all the concepting i wrote like it's a little bedtime story. no one can scratch my brainworms better than me fr! ☝️😀

22. How organized are you with your writing? Describe to me your organization method, if it exists. What tools do you use? Notebooks? Binders? Apps? The Cloud?

mm i'm fairly okay about the organization of my writing stuff. after i got my first laptop, all of my writing has been on computers and kept in my google drive. i'm actually considering making another account to transfer all my stuff over so my personal google acc has more space kasjdfkjsdj

i love making so many folders and color coding in there though. i'm planning on retitling all my fic document stuff in a certain way to make it easier to find them, but i don't know what way works for me yet. there a quite a few documents that are out of place because it's either there's not enough of the same-fandom documents to make a folder or i just don't know how i wanna organize it yet. reorganizing is a process i have not had a time for recently hehe

if you're talking about actual writing, i have a couple fics where i make a separate document for the outline i wrote and switch between the outline and the draft, e.g. my docs "[revalink] crystal snow draft" vs "[revalink] crystal snow outline". usually i do this because the way i wrote it in the outline conveys the exact emotion or image i want and use that as a reference while i write the draft. also it's just fun to see my own brain on display! otherwise i keep one huge document for each ship where i braindump my ideas onto, e.g. my doc "_revalink concept reservoir" and then just add headers/outline in the document. the revalink concept document is currently 80 pages long LMFAOKDJFDJK but it's a bit messy at the moment bc i've been copy pasting a lot of stuff in there

27. Who is the most stressful character you’ve ever written? Why?

hmm of the fics i've properly finished and uploaded, i don't think i've ever actually been stressed writing a character KDFHKDJFD i've mostly written soft cute self-indulgent stuff so it's not too difficult to write them being soft.

i guess what i'll say instead is i actually had a difficult time in general writing the 'like crazy' fic. most of the premise and style of the fic was something i had a hard time conveying, particularly writing link's character in that first half. i try to get in the heads of my characters when i write and figure out what they would do and why they would do it based on what i know about their character. and it was just. really hard to write link in the self-indulgence of what the vibes/lyrical meaning of the song 'like crazy' was while also keeping him within the boundaries of the character i perceive him as.

38. What is something about your writing process YOU think is Really Weird? If you are comfortable, please share. If you’re not comfortable, what do you think cats say about us?

i wish i could tell you something outright insane or outlandish but i can't 😔 my writing process just consists of me laying in bed with my laptop and youtube on my switch hooked to the tv playing videos while i stare at a google doc for a couple minutes until the words come to me, rinse and repeat for as many days as needed until the fic is edited and finalized.

maybe the weirdest thing i've done while writing was either laying down on my side in bed like. semi-fetal position but arranging myself in a way where i could still type on my laptop, or when i got up to lay down and cuddle on the floor of my room with my dog for a little bit to take a break from writing. sorry for the boring answer 🙏

OH THANK GOD. Honestly it’s not an easy choice either lmao but I’m confident I’ll be able to pick one ☝️ before the night is over (I have now narrowed my choices down to 3 yay). Thank you once again for your service to the community ♥️ some further thots 💭 about the previous poll (it’s the trauma starting to unravel I fear). Back in my days as a VC newbie, it was pretty much accepted that Marius was the love of Armand’s life, like no one really ever put that into question or tried to dispute the claims and there was no discourse whatsoever about the relationship being side eye worthy like there is now. Slowly but surely things started changing and Daniel became the people’s princess, fair and square, and that’s a narrative that has for the most part prevailed even if now there is more room for (brilliant, life altering) discourse re: his relationship with Lestat, after it was disregarded by a lot of fans for years as nothing more than a rivalry with a good dose of UST, even though their love for each other has been explicit in the books since the very beginning. But I guess it’s one of those plot points people just preferred to ignore (to favor Loustat maybe? Idk idk). And then Armand himself told Lestat he was the one he’d loved the most. But then again Louis is the person Armand’s been with for the longest and is (arguably) his most functional relationship. What I’m trying to say here is that this truly the impossible choice and it’s making me anxious lmaooo why is Armand like this???? Truly the Helen of Troy of VC 😔 still love ya tho xoxo DA

I was a baby though lol a very young 12, and I read TVA and TVL first which made me decide that Marius and Lestat were the ones for Armand. I didn't truly appreciate Devil's Minion until I was around 16-17 and the subtler themes really stood out to me, but then it was like Daniel wasn't a viable option for Armand anymore?? At least in the fandom sphere. And Louis and Armand as a couple had ended on such a tragic and seemingly final note, so baby me didn't pick up on all the juicy little tidbits Anne sneaked in there throughout VC for them.

I went cold on Marius as I got older, but I was an L/A girlie FROM DAY ONE EVEN IF I WAS THE ONLY ONE I DIDN'T CARE 😭 there's definitely massive Loustat blinders on a lot of the fandom, but I've got Armand blinders so I can't really blame them, can I? And then PL happened and Trinity Gate is a thing!! Daniel's back!!! Blood Communion validated the heck out of my L/A feelings!!!!

Goodbye 2020

It’s just past 9.30 PM, so I’m less than 2.5 hours away from a new year, 2021... I have no idea what that year will bring me. (As @veerledejaegers mentioned, it can be basically only get better from here, right? 😬) But for me personally, 2020 has been a year full of suprises. A year full of lows (obviously), but also some signficant highs. One of those happened on Tuesday, 15 September 2020. That’s the idea I joined Tumblr. ☺️

Since then, I’ve been welcomed warmly my most of you. I have learned so much from you. Whether it was about Spanish culture, Islam (or the perspective of a Muslim young woman in particular), the experience of people of colour, about Germany, the 🌈 that is called the sexual spectrum (as well as the various genders people may identify as 💖), or about Belgian schools... But through Tumblr, I also learned a lot more about myself. About who I am as a person, that’s okay to struggle with things. And that other people struggle too. That brings me to my final point of disovery. I thought I already knew a lot about mental health. But you guys have taught many new things about and varities of mental illness, experiences of what than can be like, and –most importantly– methods to improve your mental health.

So, first of all: thank you so much for all of that!!
