“I´d like to order 21 cupcakes for tomorrow, please.”

Anna spoke while roaming the shelf filled with the most delicious delicacies at “Bjorgman´s magical cupcake” shop.

“21, alright, funny number.” The young man glanced at her curiously.

“Oh,” Anna bit her lips and pulled up her shoulders, intertwining her hands before her chest, “it´s my birthday tomorrow.”

“Really?!” Kristoff exclaimed with a smile, “well, I´d congratulate, but I was told one should not do that in advance. But I certainly wish you a nice day already!”

“Thank you.” Anna smacked her lips and put a hairstrand behind her ear.

“So, what flavors would you like to order, then?” Kristoff asked, ready to note down Anna´s order, waiting patiently while she continued to study the goods on display.

Anna was almost a daily customer, had moved to their neighborhood a few months ago. And she had captured his interest from the first sight, with her radiant smile, her smiling freckles and her jovial character. Kristoff admired her cheerful manner, truly intrigued by her happy ways even though she had told him that she had come here all alone.

The day, she had entered their shop he was lost from the moment she spoke to him, questioning him about every cake, cookie, or pastry there was. He had patiently explained the various products and drowned in her glinting eyes. From then on, each time Anna came over before her work, or after work and some days even twice… Kristoff tried to get free to chat to her for a moment, even if it meant only to remove her dishes and asking how her day had been. If only he could get a glimpse of her smiling eyes… And his day was saved!

“Kristoff?”

Anna stood before him with a giggle, waving a hand before his face.

Shit – he had completely drifted in his dreams of them strolling hand in hand down the beach…

“Oh, sorry. Got lost in thought… so, have you got an idea of what you like to order?”

“To be honest, I can´t decide. I mean everything here is so delicious. You know what? You put something together for me, yes? It will be great, I´m sure!”

“Alright then!” Kristoff chuckled with a shrug and scribbled something on his notepad, “shall we deliver, since it´s going to be quiet a big box to carry?”

“Oh, that´d be really kind. Hm… tomorrow at 2 pm?”

“2 p.m. it is, fixed.”

Anna was about to leave the shop, but stood for a moment, kneading her fingers before her chest.

“Would you like to come, too? I mean, since I´ve moved here, I see you more often than my own family…”

“Oh…. Hm… thanks, Anna….”

So, she invited him over… of course she was being kind… but what if she liked him…?!

As soon as I heard this song for the first time in Encanto, my brain immediately connected it to Katara (“Give it to your sister, it doesn’t hurt and see if she can handle every family burden”? And then the “drip, drip, drip” water connection? KATARA). Really this would work better as an AMV with voiceovers of quotes mixed in such as Sokka talking to Toph about Katara took care of the family after their mom died, Katara yelling at Sokka that since their mom died she’s had to do all the work, etc. But that would take significantly more work so here’s a gifset instead.

Working on a gifset I will post later, I noticed this little detail that I find beautifully tender:

When baby Pepa shifts in her sleep, Alma caresses her head gently with her thumb.

This made me think again about a post I read time ago, saying Pepa was a love deprived child because Alma completely neglected her during her childhood and that's why she had a complicated relationship with her mother.

That kind of takes about Alma being an awful mother since the very moment they were given the miracle infuriates me, because there's absolutely nothing in canon to support that theory. In fact, the little we see in the movie about the triplets' childhood is this beautiful, heartbreaking moment, in which a traumatized Alma looks at them and makes the obvious decision to keep living for them. She has been holding them tight through the whole scene of the escape, the persecution, the attack, Pedro's death and the miracle's creation, and she's still holding them in her lap now, sitting "safely" in her new home. But Alma is still paralyzed by the shock and the pain, and her babies are the ones who bring her back to her senses with their mere presence, reminding her there're still reasons to live. I will never accept that Alma felt anything but the deepest, strongest love for her children and did everything she could to given them the happiest childhood possible. I bet they were her world, and she was their world, and especially during those first years of the Encanto, the four of them lived for each other, before the gifts turned things more complicated. But even so, till the kids became adults, there would never be anyone more important for Alma than the triplets and there would never be anyone more important for the triplets than Alma.

During my father's wake two weeks ago, I met a friend of one of my brothers whose husband died some years ago by cancer. They were still young, both in their forties, so their children were quite young too. But she told me: "If I managed to stand up again was thank to my children. I thought I had left alone to take care of them, but they looked after me even more and made me feel so loved and protected that healing was a bit easier". I've always imagined something similar for Alma and the triplets. She protected them and provided for them, and they took care of her broken heart. The proof is that their gifts, as helpful as they could be for the town as a whole, are also direct responses to their mom's necessities: heal her wounds, soothe her fears and clear her skies. In their innocence, I think the triplets got their gifts from the love they felt for their mother.

I live for the relationship between Alma and the triplets, and how it changed and developed over the different stages of their lives. Now more than ever, tbh.

Happy 2022 everyone!

Man, the last 7 days have been absolutely crazy on my Tumblr. What a way to end a year!

Encanto was released on Christmas Eve and I made my first Mirabel gifset on Christmas Day.

2 days later, I posted THIS:

I didn't think too much of it when I released it but in the following 5 days it received 14700+ notes!! (and still climbing slowly) I am absolutely flabbergasted that something I made has touched so many people. I've stopped pinching myself.

It's like finding a golden door:

The other Encanto posts have collectively received 6000+ notes. Also I've crossed 1900 followers!

hi! your gifset of isabela is so beautiful, may i ask what version of photoshop are you using, or what are your sharpening settings? my gifs come out so pixelated when i export. thank you!

i use photoshop cs6! and my sharpening settings for animated media varies depending on how good the file is, for that isabela set i had a Encanto 1080p file under 3gb so i used a 500% 0.4 smart sharpen and then i lowered it's opacity to 80% to get the result on the set but for a set i made of Dolores i downloaded another file for Encanto that's a 1080p file of 7gb i think? and for that i used only a 500% 0.3 smart sharpen setting. obviously if you get even bigger files (for example 4k) sharpening too much will always give you pixelated gifs so test that out in screencaps first if you're unsure!!

as for the export settings, i make vibrant gifs so i switch between diffusion/selective and diffusion/adaptive to get best results, selective works amazing with big chunks of gradient-like colorings while adaptive works best in specific color sections, the annoying dots will ALWAYS be there when we export no matter how good and smooth the coloring looks on the canvas BUT i've found this work around tutorial that helps smoothing some of it, obviously you won't be rid of all of them but you will get a smoother gif: fixing pixelated gifs tutorial

the tutorial i linked already covers this but working with the save for web like this will help you out so much trying to detect what saving setting to use too, so like switching to selective or adaptive you're going to compare to the original gif and smooth things out from there

1. How did you get into graphics / gif making? I remember it like it was yesterday. It was like 1.5 months before Frozen came out (so early October 2013) and I saw people making so many gifs every time we got new footage and I went like "I wanna do that!" I struggled so hard before finally making my first gif... but it's the first gif that started 8+ years of this.

19. Your favourite fandom(s) to see graphics / gifs come from It's honestly pretty much the same as the ones I love giffing for myself, so Frozen, Big Hero 6, Elena of Avalor and Encanto (also Kairi from Kingdom Hearts, I don't gif her as much myself, but I will never get enough of seeing gifsets of her). And just Disney in general, I track #disneyedit for a reason.
