Walking along the uncrowded road, Sophie was being angry. She was thinking about unpleasant accident in the police station and shame started to cover the girl inside. Street lamps, which were lighting up all dark sides of the street, looked at her disapprovingly, making Sophie to start weeping.

- I will always be alone. Nobody wants me and appreciates me as a person and professional specialist. I need to find out another interesting character otherwise my practice at the radio station will be failed. A real journalist must be fair and honest with anyone, - says the girl, keeping her head down and looking at indifferent pavement.

At this moment Sophie was wondering why Higashikata Josuke refused to answer her simple question. Because of excellent intuition, Sophie guessed that the police officer has a dark secret which nobody should know.

- He was pretty scary and serious at that time when he grabbed my hand. I know… I know Higashikata-san isn’t a selfish antagonist in our story but why…why did he make me to go away? I just...

She has cried. Wet drops, appearing around her eyes, like tiny sapphires, are flowing away to her hot cheeks, cold nose and soft lips. Standing in the center of the uncrowded road, the girl wants to leave the town, hide in a stone cave and at the end disappear. Realizing that this dramatic plan is impossible to do, Sophie has picked a flower and started to examine it: emerald leaves with thin petals match perfectly. In an instant, this beautifulness of nature burned in her hand.

- This flower was like me and I suppose that I will burn too. Very soon, - whispers the girl, - And now… [Mrs. Brightside], teleport me.

- Hang them in the tree like that, - says a loud voice.

- Today I have brought more shoes, Heruki.

Sophie turned her head sharply: two of them: a boy and a girl looked like teenagers, were sitting in the tree which was full of shoes: business shoes, fluffy slippers, boots and sneakers. All of these stuffs were hanging in the oak tree which was also bound with long multicolored shoelaces. Sophie, drying her eyes, suddenly made a decision to approach and view.

- Hi! What are you doing here?

Both of them looked at her with astonishment.

- We have been putting shoes in a tree, - answered the boy, smoking a cigarette.

- Have you! - Sophie exclaims, - What for?

- For fun, - says the girl calmly.

They have been looking at each other for a minute without moving. The girl was pretty young with brown curly hair, flowing on her shoulders. The boy, who was smoking a cigarette, was wearing a black coat. Another tempting thing was that his nails were painted with the same black colour.

Sophie started to take off her heavy boots.

- It’s a really bad idea, guys, to hang shoes in a tree because they can be taken down by councils, I suppose, - advises Sophie, working on her laces, - Like this!

She was standing with bare feet, jumping from one to another. It was bloody cold outside.

- It’s my gift for your oak tree which is full of shoes. It looks like the souls of owners hang here, - says Sophie.

Teleported near the house, Sophie is walking along the grey pavement, having a main goal to reach home.

- It’s postmodern, - whispers Sophie.

Every step is a real pain for the girl but she keeps moving. Staying next to the neighboring cottage, Sophie noticed someone familiar on the veranda. It was a total shock when she understood something: the man, who is sitting in a chair, was the same strange person in the library. It seemed that this guy also recognized her.

- Good evening!

The man just waved, looking at Sophie’s feet.

- I just… I forgot to put on my shoes... Morning was pretty sunny and warm, wasn’t it? - screams the girl, laughing nervously.

- It was.

- My name is Sophie and I’m your new neighbour! It is nice to meet you.

- Same.

- What is your name?

- Rohan… Kishibe Rohan, - says the man mistrustfully.

Sophie just looked briskly.

- Well… See you…

- Later.

- Yeah, - and she started running to the porch.

Opening the door and entering the house, she is thinking about her practice at the radio station and assignment which was sent. She grabbed her head, moving her hands across the whole cold face.

- God, I’m shaking like a leaf. It’s a headache to find and then interview another person… I’m going to die.

Taken a hot bath and made a cup of cappuccino, Sophie had already opened her laptop and started searching for information. Swiping through various sites and articles, she could not find a person who would be famous, talented and interesting for readership. Finally she has found out.

- Rohan… Kishibe… Impossible… Is a famous mangaka?!

Gintama: My two cents

So this lengthy post is my consolidated response to 30-Day Gintama challenged posted here on tumblr.

I am entitled to my own opinion and so do you. If you don’t like the content and direction of my writing, feel free to leave and there’s really no need to be crass. Credits are due to the makers and editors of the fanarts I used (randomly grabbed from the internet, those are not mine), and also to the production of the Gintama anime where I took some screenshots. Of course, Gintama is owned by the troll master Sorachi Hideaki.

Why you like Gintama

               I like Gintama because of the unique way it unraveled its story (in no chronological order either, no solid plot and the fourth wall is crumbling, production and the characters are not even trying, and many scenes are blatant plagiarism, recycled and half-assed work). It had its own way of creeping under your skin, and it grows on you. Most importantly its mangaka Sorachi Hideaki is such a tease that when you think you already know where the story is heading, he trolls you and make a fool out of you.

How you discovered Gintama

               A friend recommended it to me because she knew I was enamored with Oguri Shun who was cast as the live action actor for the main character so she recommended that I watch the anime.

Favorite opening song

               Donten by Dozu because there was a version of Gintoki and Hijikata’s Seiyuu singing the song (or trolling the song, idk haha)

Favorite ending song

               Mr. Raindrops because Elizabeth was so damn cute in the video…

This is the Cherry Blossom viewing where once again, Tae is the person bringing the Yorozuya and Shinsengumi together. And just look at the five them (Gintoki, Otae, Shinpachi, Kagura and Sadaharu) enjoying the view of sakura. And this was the first encounter of OkiKagu so yeah!

Favorite Male character

               I am  torn between Hijikata Toshiro and Kotaro Katsura.

Least favorite male character

               It would be Kondo Isao I guess. He actually looked cool when he’s in charge of the Shinsengumi, but his moral compass gets lost when he’s stalking Tae.

Guess… it’s Shimura Tae... She’s pretty and strong inside and out.

I think it will be Tsukuyo because she becomes a hooligan when she’s drunk.

Favorite Pairing

It’s Okikagu hands down. Whereas GinTae is like an old married couple for the way they act and the way they understand each other more than words, Okikagu’s dynamics (their rivalry) are mostly immature and childish even for Sogo who is a freaking Shinsengumi officer. Oddly though, Okita and Kagura understand each other with their fists haha. I do think that Okita hides his sublimated sexual attraction to Kagura by provoking her to bite his head off every single time they see each other.

Least favorite pairing

               Gintoki being paired with Tsukuyo.

Favorite episode

               Ep 364 where Sogo’s constant smile as he fought Kagura (cosplaying as Kanna) exposed his feelings for her (this episode is gold haha)

Saddest episode

               When Shogun Shige Shige died :(

Funniest episode

               When Catherine transformed into a very pretty, young woman.

Favorite Arc

               Yagyuu Arc. There’s been a lot of goldmines there for my ships haha.

Least favorite arc

               I think it would be the one where Shinpachi found himself a penpal and he made Okita pose as Patsuan.

I only read the most recent ones actually (because the anime took on a hiatus), so it would have to be the volume containing the Silver Soul Arc (by default).

Why you would recommend Gintama to others

Because

     1. Oguri Shun is Gintoki in the live action <3

      2. Because a very subtle yet deep connection (between Gin and Tae) is woven into the intricately crafted moments spread out in the entire series, building on mutual trust, respect and family among others.

      3. It paved its way to success by plagiarizing/ parodying (most of the time especially the early episodes were parodies of well-known anime and manga)

      4. The cast is composed of strong, independent ladies able to kick asses.

     5.  It’s a welcome breath of fresh air in the anime world because of its twisting (twisted) plot.
