Boy can I explain nonny <3 This is a bit long so strap in and im sorry

Dragon Age is (currently) a three game series composed of Dragon Age: Origins (PS3, Xbox 360/Xbox One, PC), Dragon Age: II (PS3, Xbox 360/Xbox One, PC), and Dragon Age: Inquisition (PS4, Xbox One, PC) and its really unique because of its selling point that your actions impact the games as you progress. Like if you kill one character in one game they’ll stay dead through the rest of the series which makes you feel lived in the story and that your actions matter. Dragon Age is also an RPG so a roleplaying game kind of along the same lines of DnD where you get to make and play your own character. And yes there are romances and you can be gay.

The First Game of the series is Dragon Age: Origins where you choose from a selection of six unique (technically seven) origins or backgrounds for your character. You can be anywhere from a human noble or a Dalish elf, the unique elven culture in Dragon Age of nomadic clans dedicating to reclaiming their past. But eventually, from the events in your origin, you wind up a member of a secretive and elite order known as the Grey Wardens whose duty is to protect the world from the Blight.

The Blight is this spread of a horrible disease known as the Taint but is characterized by the presence of Darkspawn, a kind of zombie like creature who exists only to destroy the world. Grey Wardens take the heavy duty of protecting the world from the Blight, which have nearly wiped all of humanity multiple times, at all costs. And currently the country of Ferelden is under going a blight and due to events you wind up the only Grey Warden with your companion Alistair to save the world and reunite Ferelden which had fallen under a civil war.

Along Origins you meet many interesting characters. Alistair is your friendly co-warden who has a mysterious parentage that he hides under his happy go lucky attitude. In contrast to Alistair is the witch Morrigan who is your favorite goth swamp queen who would insult you and you thank her. In addition you meet your chaotic bi rogues Zevran and Leliana. Leliana is a nun who is on the run and hiding from a dark past and she is suspiciously good at murder. And Zevran is not at all hiding his aptitude for murder as an Assassin for hire who tried and failed to kill you but who can ignore that charming bastard?

Dragon Age II follows a much smaller story of a Ferelden refuge who had escaped from the Blight to the city of Kirkwall named Hawke. Unlike in origins where you get to pick your background 2 limits you to Hawke but fear not, Hawke is a loveable bastard and you can still customize them. Throughout DA2 you get to experience all the delights Kirkwall has to offer: Demons, crime, corrupt cops, and fighting your way to survive in this city and make a name for yourself.

Where Origins sets the stage for the world DA2 you are the actor in that play - literally the game is divided into 3 acts that take place over a span of 7 years. DA2′s main conflict is the argument of Mages vs Templars, as in DA’s lore while there are those who are born with magic they are forced to live in prisons policed by the Templar order and the church. You explore the more political arguments of; are the Templars right in their fears of magic as Kirkwall is filled to the brim with corrupt mages or do Mages deserve the chance to live and prove themselves freely from their prisons.

Your romancable companions in DA2 are all bisexuals as the true theme of DA2 is: be gay do crime. You have the foils of Anders: the runaway mage who fled from the prisons the mages are housed in and is determined to bring mages to freedom, and Fenris: the runaway escaped slave who curses magic for only inflicting pain and suffering in his life and wants his warnings to be heard about the dangers magic bring. In addition you also have Merrill, your cute but terrifying Dalish mage who would probably murder you with a cute smile and then go oops. And of course, my pirate wife Isabela, who lives a life free from commitment and is dedicated to the idea everyone should have a good time no matter the cost. Also while not romancable Hawke’s bff Varric deserves every ounce of praise he gets as never before has the energy of “two idiots sharing a braincell” ever been so well adapted.

Then finally we reach Inquisition. After the events of DA2 it triggers a full on war between the Mages and Templars that is destroying the land and causing severe damage that neither side can handle anymore. Desperate for an end to the conflict the Divine (err... fantasy pope) calls for a meeting on both sides... only for the entire thing to literally explode. Killing everyone present and causing a hole in the sky which now means demons are raining like cats and dogs you are the only one to survive. In Inquisition you can once again return to pick between unique backgrounds like in Origins but you don’t get to play through those backgrounds sadly.

You now possess something on your left hand which gives you the ability to patch up the hole in the sky that is pissing demons and due to being the only survivor everyone is incredibly confused about you. Eventually the Inquisition is formed around you, the character they are calling the Herald of Andraste (Andraste is fantasy Jesus) due to your ability to seal the holes. The mystery unfolds as over the course of the game you learn what caused the explosion, how you are connected, and what exactly the mark on your hand is.

DAI has the largest numbers of romance options so I’m gonna give a quick bullet point list for them all

Iron Bull (Pansexual, All Races): A Qunari (think Tiefling but big and beefy) mercenary who is far more clever than he lets on, as well as being the rope top dom of your dreams. Literally! Bull’s romance is a really healthy bdsm relationship if you are interested its very well done

Josephine (Bisexual, All Races): Your loveable ambassador and advisor for the inquisition. She is a workaholic noble who is a tried and true classic romance. Sweep her off her feet and duel for her hand all while navigating the nobility

Dorian (Gay, All Races): The flamboyant pariah rock star mage, he demands attention whenever he walks into the room. Although he wants to be all talk and no emotions make no mistake he is making puppy eyes at you the entire time and gets deeply offended if you say he is. Also not going to lie Dorian is the best piece of gay male rep in gaming history.

Cassandra (Male-only, all Races): Your stern warrior wife who is all serious no funny business... expect she is a bleeding heart romantic who reads horrible smut for fun. You wish to COURT HER?? I mean... if you want 👉👈 she won’t say no...

Blackwall (Female-only, All Races): Your weird dilf who wants desperately to prove himself every step of the way and help people. He is a constable for the Grey Wardens, but all the details on him seem murky... Ah well I’m sure its nothing, the Grey Wardens are a secretive order after all.

Sera (Lesbian, All Races): My wild child, monster chugging, beer guzzling, arrow shooting lesbian. Sera is here for a fun time and not a serious one, she’ll always make sure to keep you humble and ensure you aren’t getting to big for your breeches.

Cullen (Female-Only, Human and Elf only): Cullen’s the Inquisition’s commander who oohh boy is steeped in a lot of trauma. Cullen’s actually a character you get to know through out the series and see just all the horrible nonsense he’s been through. But he is your tragic self loathing... he isn’t princely but he is your adorkable charming

Solas (Female-Only, Elf Only): The humble apostate who joins the Inquisition out of curiosity of the breech, he is an expert on what the hell is going on with that hole in the sky. However, he holds a wisdom that goes far deeper than your typical apostate. Smooth talking and refined he carries a heavy cloud over him.

I left out a lot and all the nonsense with books and what have you but this is the easiest overview of the series I can offer. It’s main selling points is the deep story and characters throughout the games. And of course who doesn’t love the ability to make and roleplay your own character as a bonus? The games are bit of a flawed gem and Origins in my ugly child but they are truly a delight if you are interested

Lava’s Art Masterpost

Hey, all! Welcome to my art masterpost! I have no idea if this is a thing that is done typically for art, but oh well, I like organizing things, so here we are! What you’ll find here is mostly Dragon Age, with a few non-DA pieces in there, and there’s a range of styles I like to use, depending on my mood. But a lot of what you’ll see will most likely combine lineart with some other form of coloring/shading.

Feel free to browse at your leisure, and I hope anyone who stumbles upon this enjoys what they find! :D And thank you to anyone who sees this and likes, or reblogs, or even just stops by to peruse a bit!

All that said, away we go!

Digital Portraits:

1. Portrait of Nameless Woman, 2020 - This one is just an experiment with a watercolor brush that I did. It’s not anatomically perfect, but I enjoyed playing around with shading.

2. Sketch of Aja Amell, 2020 - This one is basically sketch practice with my Amell~ Not really the most expressive pictures, but it’s a start toward drawing her more expressively. Full disclosure: Aja is one of those OCs of mine that I have had trouble with deciding on a definitive appearance for several pictures, and I really want to work on upping my level of consistency when drawing her.

3. Long-Haired Fenris, 2020 - Exactly what it sounds like; this was for practice drawing Fenris’s features (I love how distinct they are), but with long hair because I am weak for it. This one was a fun piece to shade, and mixing the stylized lineart that I normally use with a greyscale shading spectrum was really enjoyable.

4. Portrait of Ilorin Lavellan, 2016 - This is an oldie. Basically practicing expressions, and it is technically a WIP, but I’m still very happy with how the shading turned out, especially because this is actually (aside from the unfinished hair) one of the more minimal pieces I’ve done in terms of lineart It’s still there, and it still shapes the flow of the picture in some ways, but it also ends up flowing with the shading instead of standing out next to it, which I like. (Both styles are good, though, and I love seeing other artists try both too.)

5. Old Portrait of Aja Amell, 2016 - Much older picture I did of Aja; she... honestly looks very little like the newer one, I think, and that consistency is something I’m still working on, but this one was the first picture of Aja with that particular hairstyle I drew. What I like about this picture is how young she looks; it fits with her image as a fresh and sheltered Circle mage who’s only about 20 years old at the time of DAO.

6. Old Portrait of Trilyn, 2016 - They very first piece of art I posted to tumblr~ It’s not exactly how I envision Trilyn anymore, but it was still very fun to draw, and helped me get a feel for drawing him in the future.

Dynamic Movement Pictures/”Moment’s in Time”:

1. Tabris in Arl’s Estate, 2020 - TW: blood. I am super proud of this one. My ultimate goal is to draw all of my Warden DAO OCs, and I could not believe I’ve never drawn my Tabris, and so here she is. This was, in large part, practicing expressions because I absolutely love art that depicts characters in motion, or capturing some kind of expression.

2. Velyn in the Rain, 2017 - This one was actually based on some art that I saw in a Teen Wolf fic! It was an experiment with a more expressive style (and one of the first pieces I did without lineart left in the finished version) and it was a huge step out of my comfort zone. But overall, I am extremely happy with how it turned out.

3. Jem Nocking an Arrow, 2016 - And here is the lineart version. This was entirely an excuse to draw my DAI baby, Jem, and to do a cool archer pose because archers are my fav, and I love characters in motion.

4. Solas Teaching Trilyn Fade Magic, 2016 - This one was a painterly picture that was also (like the Velyn picture) something which I tried to keep lineart out of. Overall, I am proud of a lot of parts of the pic, but I think I would definitely go back over it and change a few things now if I had the patience.

5. Trilyn Closeup WIP, 2016 - TW: injury, blood, mention of abuse in the author’s note. A lot of early pictures I have are of my OC, Trilyn, and this is one of my absolute favorites. His entire upper body is technically in the picture, but I hadn’t finished rendering it yet, so this was what I posted. And it was an experiment with a cross-hatching style with the pencil tool for some texture, with air brush shading and a blurring tool. It’s a style I had fun playing around with!

6. Trilyn Blood Ritual, 2016 - TW: blood, injury (the slight cut used to supply the ritual with blood). This one was definitely a sort of “captured moment” from a backstory I gave Trilyn, and I think what I was really going for was an atmospheric piece that could fit with any potential fic I wanted to write for Trilyn. And then it ended up being practice for extreme lighting/shading techniques, and drawing the blood and the gross mass of demon ichor (or whatever the heck that is) turned out to be highlights of making the piece for me.

Art + Text:

1. Freedom and Control, 2020 - TW: scars, but very difficult to see. This one was ambitious for me! It started originally just as Solas and my Tal-Vashoth OC, Saara, facing each other, because I love the dynamic I’ve built for them in my head, but then it turned into an attempt at a tarot-esque background, and just sorta grew from there... Overall, I’m happy with how it turned out, especially with how Solas and Saara themselves turned out. The version you can actually see a larger view is here.

2. Marianna and Delia Codex and Art, Pt. 1, 2020 - I love writing my own codex entries, first off, and I love combining art with text to create a (hopefully) seamless work. This work was an attempt to flesh out these OCs of mine with both art (because unique facial structures are hard for me to get down, but so important regardless) and text (because writing~). I think it turned out well overall, but there are elements of the portraits that I might at some point touch up a bit.

3. Marianna and Delia Codex and Art, Pt. 2, 2020 - Part 2, with what I refer to as a “DAI Outfit Change” because I have always loved seeing fans show their own OCs as they look in DAO, DA2, and then finally DAI. So I absolutely wanted to jump on that bandwagon myself. The skin tones are a little off (and I’m sorry about that!) because I was playing with the watercolor brush at that point, and it dilutes the colors I use. Still working to figure that out, but I was very happy with the overall lineart and structures of the faces.

4. Alistair/Aja Amell Picture with a Blurb, 2017 - Ooooold, old, old, old, OLD! I still love the art, and I’m soooo happy with how the interaction between Alistair and Aja turned out (drawing kisses is extremely difficult for me; I always end up creating a distorted weird lip-creature, instead of realistically puckered lips...). I’m not as happy with the blurb that went with it? At that point, I was still very much figuring out my own DAO worldstate, and the characterization for everyone, so, eh. Take it with a grain of salt!

Unfinished Costume Designs:

1. Ancient Elvhen Armor with Dwarven Influence, 2018 - People who do costume design work are amazing and mystical beings, and I wish I could do what they do. This was an attempt at merging the Keeper robes from DAI with a more dwarven armor aesthetic, solely because I created an ancient elvhen character, Ceda, who was taken in by the Cad’halash dwarves mentioned in the Witch Hunt dlc, and I wanted this character to have a mix of the elven style of armor and the dwarven style. I’m overall decently happy with it, but there’s still that persistent level of self-criticism present.

2. Herald of Andraste Outfit WIP, 2016 - This was a very old picture, not one I showed around a lot, but the idea for this was entirely born of my intense interest in how fashion and outfit designs could be used to create a symbolic image for the Herald of Andraste. In general, I love the combination of ceremonial armor with long and flowing cloth, so that was what I went for here. I’m still actually very proud of how this came out, and headcanon something similar for my Herald in my canon DAI worldstate.

Pencil Sketches:

1. Quick Saara Sketch, 2019 - TW: saarebas mouth scars. Exactly what it says; very quick sketch of Saara I did in a small notebook I carry around with me. This was basically a test for myself to see if I could manage to draw Saara with the features and facial structure I envisioned for her without needing to use a lot of references.

2. Mass Effect Character Sketch; Jesse, 2018 - Similar reason for drawing this one as the above Saara sketch! With these characters, I love sometimes the way they can turn out with the specific character creator used for them, and when I draw them, I enjoy trying to create a definitive look for them using what I get from the CC, and my own knowledge of Hooman Faces.

3. Saara Sketch, 2017 - TW: saarebas mouth scars. A more detailed sketch of Saara than the one above, and one I definitely put more time into overall. It’s currently the profile picture I’m using for ao3, and is the definitive go-to reference picture I use whenever imagining Saara in a fic, or for other Saara pics I make. I am extremely proud of this picture, and feel like I should work in graphite more often. It’s such fun, and the texture is so nice to look at.

4. Sketch of Nameless Alamarri Woman, 2017 - This was a sketch I did of what I envisioned some Alamarri tribes to look like; I used artistic depictions of Gaul tribes and hairstyles for inspiration, and have used this as a go-to reference for my version of Alamarri tribes. Nothing super notable about this one, but I really liked the way the shape of her face turned out.

Events and Gifts:

1. Another Scar, 2020 - TW: blood, injuries, gore. The most recent piece of art on the list, and a gift for @cartadwarfwithaheartofgold; featuring sisterly love between Rica and fem!Brosca, which was her requested prompt. This was a tough piece for me because of the difficulty with the lighting I dealt with. For some reason, that one particular element of it gave me so much trouble. Overall, I’m very happy with how it turned out, though, especially the skin tones of the sisters; Brosca I always sort of like as having this greyish, more gaunt look to her, while Rica I like seeing with a darker, richer, and warmer tone to her.

2. A Very Cousland Christmas!, 2019 - This was for a holiday exchange for a server, and I drew a friend’s Cousland (Elissa, the girl on the left) with my Cousland (Gazza, the girl on the right). I love kid-fic, and I love kid-art, and so I decided... baby Cousland art! Drawing kid proportions was the toughest part, I recall, and I thiiiink it turned out well, and I’m still quite proud of it overall. Elissa’s design came entirely from my friend, but I added the holly~

3. Exchange Gift with Dis Brosca and Mabari, 2018 - This was an exchange gift for @fanfoolishness, using her lovely Dis Brosca, and was my first real attempt at backgrounds... I struggled with the coherence of the foreground and background a bit, but I’m still very proud of how it turned out, especially with the colors I had to work with. What I also really enjoyed working with was the lighting and the expression on Dis’s face. Backlit subjects are always fun to play around with!

4. Inktober Picture, “Deep”, 2017 - TW: scars, injury, mentions of abuse in the author’s note/attached dialogue snippets. This was for an Inktober prompt (the only one I’ve ever done, sadly... because I am bad with deadlines...), and again features Trilyn. Trilyn’s backstory has him a former slave in Tevinter, and a lot of the early works I do for him are sort of deep-dives into his life there. It’s all meant to be an exploration of the things he endures, and then those moments when he overcomes it all and takes back his own autonomy and self. This art is definitely provocative, and I can understand if not everyone likes it, but to me, I just wanted to show just what he faces (without glorifying it) before showing the moment of his own triumph.

5. Christmas Holiday Picture with my Brosca and a Friend’s Amell, 2017 - This was a piece of art drawn first by a friend of mine, @nanahuatli~ She drew the Amell, the background, the mistletoe, etc. All I did was add my Brosca to the mix to finish the image. It was a lot of fun to do, 1) because it was fun trying to match her style so that the picture looked cohesive, 2) because I love doing collabs with friends, and 3) because it was just such a fun thing to imagine my surly short Brosca, looking at this weird plant/fungus/thing dangling over some puckering human! It was an absolute joy to do this collab with her!

6. OC Kiss Week Pic of Jem and Saara, 2017 - TW: saarebas mouth scars. A spur-of-the-moment thing meant to demonstrate just what kind of dynamic my OC, Jem, has with my other OC, Saara (both of whom are members of Leliana’s network in DAI). This was a very quick picture (deadlines...) and was mostly just to have fun drawing these two characters interacting, and to see if I could make them look like themselves. I think I did a decent job with it overall, especially with Jem’s kissy-face! (Again... drawing kisses are the bane of my existence, although hands and feet take a close second.)

galatea island

i’ve always been a huge fan of dragon age to the point i started fantasize about it a lot. this idea is unfinished, but i thought it would’ve been cool creating an antivan island based off ancient sicily, since it’s where i live. please, keep in mind that i’m translating from italian and that there may be mistakes. be gentle! feel free to use it! you don’t need to ask permission for your fanfiction or your character, but do not alter the informations. i would like to read, though! thanks. ♡

tradition says that a princess from rivain, whose name was galatea, was predicted from the court mage the coming of the first blight when she would have turn fifteen. if the princess had saved herself she would have found a fruitful land, different from the others.

the day of her fifteen birthday finally arrived. galatea boarded a tiny boat and after the first couple of days she got desperate, crying and screaming at the ocean; then the promised land appeared on the horizon, just like the court mage told her.

the land, besides its beautiful landscapes, looked uninhabited except for one man. he explained that the island had lost its people due to the eruption of the volcano aretusa and the two of them were apparently ‘chosen’ to repopulate the area.

obviously, this is nothing but a legend. it is (probably...) true that a rivaini princess escaped the blight through the sea; however, she wasn’t alone: most of the court went with her, along with some grey wardens. the ‘mysterious’ man was perhaps just her future consort, prince nicola from antiva. be that as it may, now the island carries the name of this legendary princess.

the location of the island is highlighted in the picture.

galatea – the island, not the princess – has often been the subject of disputes. it was invaded multiple times by both its neighboring kingdoms (antiva, rivain and even the tevinter imperium) and the qunari, because of the particular and apparently magical soil of the island, capable of wipe out the corruption more than any other land.

the island was definetely conquered by queen asha campana in 4:62 black, during the weakening of the local government. to this day, the descendants of the galatea crown are really proud of their antivan ancestors... and, exactly like their ancestors, they are extremely corrupted. the administration of the island would be up to them, but merchants are far more important (followed by farmers and fishers) because of how they exploit the soil’s properties to make money.

this is why, for the most part, its population shows a skin color range that goes from ebony to olive. the qunaris are a minority, but they are pacific and well-integrated. humans and city elves are by far the most common races. the island isn’t much appealing to dalish elves, however, because there is nothing left of arlathani’s culture. the only clan that wanders this area, the ghi’myelan’an, left the mainland in order to escape the fifth blight and stayed to study the particular properties of the soil, which they think they may be connected to ancient elven magic.

you can find a famous volcano, the aretusa, which is the home of a female high dragon. however, this dragon – whose species is sutera stalker, exclusive to the island – isn’t aggressive as you may think it is.

a witch of the wilds does, in fact, take care of the dragon. her name is verbenia and she lives in the sutera plains. although she isn’t one of flemeth’s favorites, terrifying and creepy stories revolve around her. one of them involves revenge:

from the shore of its country, a foreign prince was thinking about conquering galatea. the witch apparently managed to lead him on: the island was suddenly a few meters away from the man, who started walking on the ground of the desired land. the witch interrumpted the charm only when she was sure that it was too late: the prince was already drowning.

speaking of religion, at first rivaini’s faith was exported to the island, but the several submissions have heavily troubled the cultural and religious side of the islanders. andrastianism became the most popular religion after the conquest of queen asha campana. we could say that (note: i’m BAD at math so i apologize if there is any mistake):

97,8% of galateani are andrastians in particular — 84,6% follow the orlesian chantry — 13,2% follow the imperial chantry

3% are atheists

0,2% are other

imperial chantry followers are a consequence of tevinter imperium’s invasions. because of that, mages aren’t seen as bad as in the majority of thedas. there still is a mage circle in biancavilla, though. luckily, mages and templars seem to coexist happily.

the mages developed a really peculiar way of fighting, derived from the usage of the stick by farmers and shepherds. initially there wasn’t a defined technique: the stick started appearing in –170 ancient among those considered ‘poor’ and it was an honorable weapon for a duel. eventually it became so deeply-rooted to the culture that mages now use their staffs like the old farmers’ sticks and it is praised to the point that is common to think of it as a form of art.

the languages spoken in galatea are mainly two: the antivano, which is the strange mix of spanish and italian that we hear in the games, and the galateano, its primary language, which in real life would be my dialect, the siciliano.

the antivano isn’t of common use, even though everyone knows it. official documents are released in both languages.

other headcanons:

trastamara is the most important city of galatea and the former capital of the old kingdom.

thanks to a special agreement with antiva, galatea has its own ‘special statute’ that allows the island to have more political and administration freedoms.

porto saladillo was founded by the antivans during one of their first invasions. it has developed a strong playful antagonism to trastamara.

many of the most important antivan poets, scholars and historians are from galatea.

the island is also home to giants. the ones that survived the eruption were for the most part killed by the great warriors of queen galatea’s kingdom.

the inhabitant of galatea is called galateano. the people of galatea are the galateani.

Backstory: Her parents are highly known bakers in the Orlais. The bakery is known to be the Divine Justinia’s favorite bakery, even dropping by for a random visit here and there. This came into play when everyone planned on having the family come to the conclave to cater the event.

Marinette went ahead of her parents to bring in the first of the items that were needed for their job. Unfortunately for her, she got lost and found herself smack dab in the middle of trouble.

Adrien Agreste:

Species: Human

Backstory: The son of a nobleman who wanted to keep him away from the outside world. Despite this, Adrien had managed to run away to join the Templars at a young age. He got into some… trouble when his best friend helped his friend got messed up with the Hero of Ferelden. Then once again when he got transferred to a new place… and dealt with the Hero of Kirkwall.

He doesn’t have the best of luck. However, throughout this, he managed to rise through the ranks and was asked by none other than the right hand of Divine to join the Inquisition.

Gabriel Agreste gave up his chance of becoming a famous fashion designer to take care of his ailing wife during her pregnancy. Instead of fretting over designs, business deals or becoming the man as we know him as, gave everything up. Giving up the limelight to be there for his wife and their unborn son.

For Gabriel, nothing is more important than family...

Emilie Agreste remained hospitalized after giving birth to Adrien Agreste and shortly fell into a coma. Gabriel had to take on several odd jobs to pay off the hospital and to provide for his son. One of those jobs ended up being a delivery man for the Dupain-Cheng bakery.

I'm playing this game for the first time and loving Cassandra and Lavellan together so much. (I'm playing with a mod where I can romance her with a female PC!) Lavellan starts off as this confused and small and non-Andrastian prisoner who disagrees with Cassandra on so many things, but Cassandra puts so much trust and faith in her and so much on the line for her - even with Lavellans who are adamant that they're not chosen, they're just doing their best and they happen to be the ones in the position to make this choice. Cassandra is so proud to know her, and backs her up even when she disagrees with Lavellan's choices! The romance scene is really cute between two characters who are adults and have a day-to-day working relationship that isn't going to change, but are still just having fun with how charming it is in a way that builds on their friendship. Not to mention their battling together, of course - the ways they can protect each other and fight for each other's goals (and give Cassandra all the elven swords and shields), how worried they sound if the other one gets hurt...whoops, I found myself another loyalty kink ship.

I also just like playing as Lavellan generally, with how much of an outsider she feels (the "Dawn Will Come" scene is so alienating! it really works!) and how much of the game is about visiting the sites of past elven trauma and/or glory days.

My Lavellan uses the (default lol) name of Ellana, is a rift mage, sports a lovely buzzcut and vallaslin, has a lot of feelings about elf history (and visiting the Plains/Graves especially), believes in elven gods and doesn't care to pretend she's Andrastian, and besides Cass is closest friends with Solas, but don't feel that you have to write my specific PC - I'm excited to read about yours too!

But! I also love all the little hints about the work that Leliana's agents are doing, and their friendship (walking in on their card game at Caer Bronach is kind of delightful), and the letter from Rector's mother asking why he uses a code name for work (why are you ashamed of your name, Wilbur??) is one of my favorite in-universe documents. Slice-of-life or slice-of-mission with Charter and Rector would also make me really happy. Here again, just the closeness and trust and faith that these people have in one another is my jam.

Fandom-Specific DNW: Canon-typical levels of Cassandra's association with the Chantry and belief in the Maker/Andraste/the Herald shouldn't be taken to contravene my DNW of Christian themes, but I wouldn't want Satinalia fic or something focused on the Andrastian faith. Nonius was one of my favorite new characters in Harrow the Ninth. His whole impossible arrival via evocation-by-poetry, battle with the Sleeper, and epic departure to fight the Beast made me very, very happy on levels I have trouble explaining. It was so heartwarming?! Because it was impossible, and because poetry won, and because they went off to do the best they could...I don't know, exactly. (Iiiii also just love that he's named for the Redwall mouse.) I'd love to read more about his life - being unprepossessing and very human but also paladin-like and really fucking good at being a swordsman, representing the Ninth House in slightly less decrepit times, his mysterious past with Gideon the First (and Pyrrha, sort of), however it happened that he died far from home in an unknown place and couldn't be recovered for burial, "chickenshits don't get beer"? I fell hard for this show and Abigail/Raelle is the ship I’m most excited about - they get off to a bad start for all kinds of personal history reasons and have problems with each other, but when it gets down to the wire Abigail would do anything for Raelle and is very gung-ho about having Raelle’s unconventional but extremely powerful magic under her leadership, regardless of Raelle being a loose cannon. She told her she loved her!! <3 And by the end, Raelle also clearly knows what Abigail's going through (like when she talks her down in "Citydrop"), respects her leadership, and cares deeply about her and wants to protect her in return. I love that loyalty dynamic, and their competence as fighters/witches.

Physical combat, strength in general, magical strength, ability to work magic together, knowledge of the magical canon vs. out-of-the-box techniques...what parts of their skills and their bond could be challenged in the weird dimension that the end of season 1 leaves them in? Or when they get back home and new challenges await? (In my head, the decision not to send them to War College is not revoked; the unit becomes some kind of special-forces secret strike team rather than cannon fodder.) Maybe something where Raelle goes/has gone into a fight as a berserker-type for Abigail and then comes back to her, or where Abigail protects/has protected her soldier (her girl!! I love her protectiveness of Raelle towards the other cadets, imagine it in a battle!)? Or an arranged marriage AU where it's usual for witch soldiers to marry to combine their magic power or something...If including smut in the story, I'd especially be up for something d/s-y where the loyalty-kinky dynamic of Raelle being Abigail's weapon, at her command, is echoed in sex!

OR. The alternate history that the show has created is so interesting and I'm craving expansion of that through fic! Tell me about the Bellweather ancestor who was a slave and ended up powerful and influential enough to begin a dynasty, and how she met and was recruited by Alder. Or other enslaved witches, witches in the American Revolution or the Civil War, or the founding of Fort Salem and standardization of American military magic with its various influences, or Chinese or Jewish or Mexican immigrant witches who maybe came from different magic traditions and might have had to make the choice of whether or not to reveal that they had magic (if the system knows you because of your descent in the country?), serving their country but also binding their daughters and granddaughters forever.

Or the future of both of them now that they’ve found each other!

Aww thanks, Auby!! I decided to lean in and had a lot of fun with these.

51. Favorite Warden/Hawke/Inquisitor headcanons (any or all)?

GOSH, this is so broad! I’ll go with some HCs for my characters that are a little unusual and/or contradict things established in canon.

Beatrice Cousland - Morrigan performs the dark ritual with Alistair without Beatrice’s knowledge or consent. For those unfamiliar with Beatrice’s story, she and Morrigan get a slowburn romance throughout the events of Origins that has a pretty different trajectory from Morrigan’s canon romance. On the eve of the final battle, Morrigan proposes the ritual, and Beatrice flatly refuses to ask Alistair to go through with it. She is perfectly content to sacrifice herself, do her duty as a Grey Warden, etc, plus she argues that this ritual is just a final way for Flemeth to exert control over Morrigan’s life. But Morrigan can’t bear to lose Beatrice, and she feels she has very legitimate reasons for wanting an Old God Baby that her lawful good gf doesn’t understand. So after Beatrice falls asleep, Morrigan sneaks out and convinces Alistair herself. Beatrice is shocked and upset when she makes the final blow and lives through it. Her time during Awakening is spent with Big Angst trying to figure out why Morrigan would go behind her back, why she would leave afterword, and how the heck is Beatrice gonna find her swamp witch gf again.

Edric Surana - By the end of Origins, my boy’s personality is 50% mage rights, 30% wanderlust, and 20% spite. He has no desire to stick around and be Warden-Commander. He can’t bear to be told what to do or to give other people orders anymore. He also shirks his duty because he and his BFF, unhardened King Alistair, end the game on tense terms, since Alistair doesn’t want to be king and Edric thinks he needs to suck it up. After Edric survives killing the archdemon (in this worldstate, Morrigan’s ritual is very much an awkward act of wlw/mlm solidarity), Edric and Zevran leave for Antiva together. Edric is an active participant in Zevran’s quest to hunt down and kill Crow masters, which pleases them both immensely. I’ve got a vague idea that Edric actually shows up in Kirkwall with Zev during the events of DA2.

Anias Hawke - like many Hawkes, she is a disaster, but I think in her own special ways. She goes from “bright-eyed refugee trying to do the right thing” to “overtired bureaucrat/public figure, constantly thwarted at doing the right thing” to “washed-up celebrity who spends too much time drinking with Isabela on weeknights and Aveline on weekends.” Probably my most unusual headcanon about her is that I simply rewrote the whole end of Act 2 / beginning of Act 3 because I was so mad she didn’t immediately get to have a follow-up conversation with Isabela about stealing and returning the Tome of Koslun. Anias is doggedly persistent and simply would chase Isabela to the city gates if she had to. This short, kind of mediocre fix-it dialogue was my earliest foray into DA fanfic, before I even knew there was an active fandom :’)

Bastien Adaar - Only 15 hours into my first playthrough of this game, so everything about Bastien is subject to change! I’ve been toying with the idea of roleplaying her as a faithful Andrastean who genuinely thinks she might be the chosen one? I don’t see that much with Inquisitors, especially with an Adaar, so I’m trying it out and seeing where it gets me.

52. Favorite non-Player Character headcanons?

Kirkwall feels so lived-in! My brain is full of specific ideas for the ways the DA2 companions spend their time away from Hawke’s missions. Merrill spending time with Alienage kids and telling them Dalish stories about elven heroes :’) Anders’ clinic is always busy, but every day is a different adventure - delivering babies, curing food poisoning, unexpected veterinarian queries that he’s 100% unqualified to answer but he’s so beloved by Darktown residents that people go to him, anyway. Fenris devotes serious time to learning to read, but I also like to think (after a particular Sebastian party banter) that he decides to teach Alienage elves how to fight. Aveline on the slow, tragic slide from ‘daily city patrols’ to ‘daily office paperwork.’

53. That One Headcanon that hurts to think about?

I love thinking about Taliesen and Zevran re-meeting in Denerim. I HC that Taliesen still has “yeah, we’re best friends! also, would definitely still sleep with you if you asked” feelings for Zevran. But since Zev’s actually experienced some personal freedom + healthy relationships by this point, his feelings about Taliesen are complicated at best. You know when you’ve grown and changed a lot, but somebody from your past shows up, and they haven’t changed at all? And they still have all their old flaws and lame ambitions? Must be an incredibly bittersweet moment for Zev - confronting his changed circumstances and how much he’s grown, but also confronting the realization that he doesn’t have any choice about killing his other lover, too.

54. Fluffiest headcanon ever?

Gosh… everything about Beatrice and Morrigan after the events of Origins’ DLCs. When they finally meet up again, perhaps a year or two after Witchunt, they are finally able to admit the depth and complexity of their feelings, and begin to reconcile their very different worldviews. They settle down in Orlais together, they’re very good moms to Kieran, Beatrice hangs out around the Orlesian court being a chill knight, probably stealing kisses with Morrigan in alcoves that aren’t as private as they think. I commissioned art of them at this point in their lives just to indulge my desire for fluff.

Last film watched: Oof, I don’t remember last time I watched a movie so I’ll pick whatever comes to mind first. That’d be uh... uuuuuuuuuh...... Upgrade! With Logan Marshall-Green. I spent a couple of days raving about it I think. The ending was right up my alley.

Favorite TV show watched: I’ll go with Criminal Minds because I’ve re-watched it 3 times and CSI: Las Vegas because Nick Stokes *cough*

Favorite OC: My holy trifecta aka my BGII Bhaalspawns that l still sometimes see in every other OC I have. They will always have a special place in my heart so I’ll write a lil bit about them that you can probably guess from their nameplates lol

Martyr was Chaotic Good. She really wanted to be accepted by people and did everything she could to please them. Her cheerful do-goodly facade started to break in Suldanessellar when elves wanted nothing to do with her after she once again saved everyone. It broke completely when the party got attacked by desperate soldiers that knew they had no chance but they needed the bounty that was placed on Bhaalspawn after Saradush. In the end she simply disappears losing all her desire to do anything in this world. Sarevok may have followed her.

Reaver was Chaotic-Neutral pirate captain until Sarevok destroyed her ship and her crew. Very offended by that move (mostly because of all the gold lost at sea) she sets out to be a thorn in his side. Actually finds friends along the way. Xan cries at night because she’s having none of his doom and gloom. Minsc and Boo are her BFFs. Irenicus had the most impact on her mental state. Actually considered staying soulless so the nightmares would stop. Didn’t give rat’s ass about great elven city, and prophecies. Just wanted gods to leave her alone. Said no to power, said yes to new ship.

Witch was Lawful Evil drow sorceress that lived one too many years and was fixated on gaining knowledge, often forbidden, for knowledge is power. Wasn’t actually a Bhaalspawn but was very interested in them. Saw Sarevok as the most powerful of them all so she wanted him for experiments.With immense magic knowledge behind her back, Witch had no trouble pretending to be Bhaalspawn and luring Sarevok in her trap. However, her success didn’t last as Irenicus had a jump on her. She arrived in Athkatla positively livid and ready to unleash hell. She always had plenty of pawns to do the dirty work for her. At some point she ran into Keldorn and got him out of a pickle (unintentionally). He didn’t like her at all but quickly realized that he wasn’t powerful enough to smite that evil determined to catch another evil. So he agreed to help perhaps hoping to control the damage done in that chase. As time went on their companionship proved to be most fruitful. Keldorn was surprised to see Witch have same disdain for chaos as him and zero intention to help other evildoers. Witch slightly softened up and started considering that having friends had its perks. Still enjoyed the sight of burning Suldanessellar just a bit too much. In the end Witch accepted the power and ascended. Keldorn declined her offer to be her champion but didn’t say no to occasional visits to her temple.

Sweet, spicy, or savory: Savory I suppose. Just a little bit of sweet. No spicy. Ever.

Sparkling water, coffee, or Tea: All of them. Each day a new craving.

Pets: This is where this post got stuck in my drafts. I had a cat, a cute assbutt with zero regard for closed doors and a deep desire to plop down on a dinner table. She died last summer after months of struggle. She has been with me for the most part of my life and I still can’t stop thinking about her. Her name was Mysya and she really liked sleeping on my chest.

Elves (Kyle’s Story/HD/DHaF Universe)

So, since I’m the one that created elf characters for the roleplay/DHaF/HD world, my friend left it up to me what elves are like in our world...

That being said, I KIND OF went a little crazy developing them... so... here, have what elves are like in our world... also, it’s under the cut because when I say I “kind of” went crazy... I mean I really went crazy. So, enjoy!

Elves cannot drink more than 2-4 shots of liquor, depending on the elf, without dying of alcohol poisoning

When the elves realized this, they started experimenting with different things to see if they could get a buzz off of anything

Eventually, they found that they could get buzzes off of certain poisons

The poison will kill any other species

There are a few different types of elven liquor

One is a green drink called kumir

This drink causes giggle fits and tequila-like effects

Lots of elven babies have been born after the parents drank this drink

If another species drinks it, this drink causes explosive diarrhea and vomiting until they die of dehydration

As of now, there is no antidote for this poison

One is a bright orange drink called luuha

This drink is usually the cause of bar fights, so most elves tend to steer clear of this one

It can also cause an elf to see bright colors they otherwise wouldn’t normally see

If another species drinks it, this is the most painful of the poisons to drink

This poison is used in poison darts when an elf is trying to slay an enemy to not only kill them but also to disable them so that they cannot attack back

As of now, there is no antidote for this poison

One is a pale yellow drink called luisae

This drink causes contentment and over-affection

Lots of elves have professed their love for friends and crushes under the influence of this drink

When an elf drinks Luisae, it causes a tingling sensation along their whole bodies and makes kissing and holding each other a lot more enjoyable for most

If another species drinks this drink, it causes dizziness until they fall asleep… and never wake up

Elven scientists have been working on an antidote for this poison but have not found one yet

One is a bright blue drink called Rusta

Pronounced “ROO-STUH

This drink causes rowdiness and otherwise quiet elves to become much chattier

This drink is known as the Poison of Truth because it makes the inhibition disappear so that an elf can truly speak their mind

When another species drinks this poison, it causes them to foam at the mouth and die almost immediately.

This is the least painful of the poisons, though it does cause an… odd sensation

There is an antidote for this poison, but you only have 4 seconds to drink it before it’s irreversible

One is bright pink called Hoopa

Hoopa is known as the Dead Man’s Poison because it causes elves to fall right asleep

This is one that elves that have difficulty with sleeping will take

This particular poison, when taken by another species, is very painful but will just make the drinker fall asleep and never wake up.

You can usually tell when someone is poisoned with this poison because all of their veins will turn black

Has a connection to the earth that no other elves do

When an elf puts their ear to the ground, they can hear the “earth’s heartbeat”

No one else can hear it, so the other species refer to elves as the “schizophrenic species.”

Elven mages can use nature to revitalize their magics and boost them

Elven mages can do certain things with nature, like boost a flower’s lifespan or cause one to grow early

Elves have a special connection to other magic-using creatures

Elven mages feel it more strongly

Elven mages feel more connected to other nature magic-users

Magic-using creatures such as…

Witches

And familiars

Elves have royalty

There is a king and queen of the elves

The royalty is not always chosen by bloodlines, though 99% of the time, it is

If the elven people do not like a royal family, they have the right to kick them out of their position

Most elven royalty have been very good to their people

In the elven world, the queen has more power than the king

Most elves pray to have a daughter, but they will love and cherish their children no matter what sex

Female elves are spoiled and usually have a “nature room” where they can soak up that wonderful feeling of being close to nature

Female elves are even more connected to nature than the males

Elves do not typically participate in human activities or go to human places

They have their own stores that are similar to human grocery stores, only they are filled with mostly hunting supplies with just enough food to feed those elves that don’t wish to or are bad at hunting

At the end of every night, these stores will hand out food to the needy elves

They also have buildings that are like indoor forests, as a means for revitalizing the elf’s body and chakras and kind of like their form of relaxation therapy

Elves are a big believer in the healing power of colors

Being as they are beings of nature, most of the colors they believe in are nature’s colors

They believe that pink flowers will heal wounds

They believe that blue flowers will heal the mind

They believe that laying in a field of grass and staring up at the blue sky will put you in a trance that will also heal your mind

They believe that red flowers will bring back your passion *nudgenudge*

They believe that orange flowers will bring you peace

They believe that black flowers will poison the soul

They believe that the brown of tree trunks (and other parts of nature) will bring great pain

Elves have their own pantheons, all based off of different parts of nature

The goddess of all gods is the goddess of nature, or as humans call her, Mother Nature

Her name is Elais

She has long, flowing green hair the color of grass freshly rained on

She smells like your favorite flower

She has beautiful eyes that change color depending on what she wants you to feel when she talks to you

She has a voice that sounds like a soft breeze

The god of fire and the ocean (yes, fire and water) is Leonari

He has hair made of fire

He has eyes that look like an ember, glowing in the middle of an otherwise empty firepit

When he’s angry, his eyes turn from a soft ember to a roaring fire

He has a temper but he also is great at calming others in the middle of a rage

He curses the most out of the other gods and goddesses

He’s also seen as the god of depression

Not that he causes depression, but he helps elves to be able to deal with their depression

Elves with high tendencies toward depression tend to worship and pray to him the most

The god of the flowers and trees (plants, basically) is Gerardi

His hair is short and spiked

It’s rainbow colored and the colors shift every time he moves

His eyes, much like the nature goddess, change color, but his eyes reflect your soul and your intention in the world

If you’re “evil,” they turn red

If you’re “good,” they turn purple

If you’re “neutral,” they turn green

The goddess of weeds and other “undesired” plants is Magis

Her hair is green, short, with yellow tips

Her eyes are also green

She has pale skin that changes color depending on what species the person that is looking at her is

If a witch, her skin is like a pale grey

If an elf, it’s a pale green

If a werewolf, it’s white

If a vampire, it’s a pale brown

If a siren, it’s a pale blue

If a djinn/genie, it’s a pale pink

She has a look in her eyes that calms people when they are in the middle of a panic

She is the goddess that people with high anxiety tend to worship and pray to the most

Elves typically prefer to wear as little clothing as possible

The less clothes they wear, the more connected they feel to the world

The buildings I mentioned earlier with “nature rooms” are clothing optional

In fact, they encourage you to go in nude, like a spa

Most elves prefer to wear like… basically a bikini

Just enough to cover the vital places

Elves see the body as a holy temple of Elais

They eat specific berries that will boost their connection to the earth

These berries also cause hallucinations where they will see Elais

They are very big on natural exercising and going on runs out in nature

Lazy elves (yes, they do exist) are looked down upon because they’re seen as being careless toward Elais’ temple

Elves live about 300-400 years

This is partly due to their diet, but it’s also partly due to the fact that they’re connected to the earth

When an elf picks a berry from nature, that berry has a certain magic in it that boosts their lifespan

Just like how elven mages can boost the lifespan of plants, plants can boost their lifespans as well

Most elves are excellent hunters

As I said earlier, those that don’t, there’s a special section of the store for them

Most elves live in 3 places across the world

Most elves prefer the cold over the heat, but they also love LOVE tropical rainforests

When an elf is turned to a vampire, it turns into an entirely other creature

Elven mages don’t typically share their given names

If they do, they lose their power

The only way after that that they can use it again is if in nature while using it or if the person who knows gives them permission

FINALLY managed to "fix" my problem, had to update the AMD Drivers apparently (???).

Game is running smoothly now, BUT the computer's fan is now kinda going to town on him, gaining its charateristic loud noise + burning temperature combo.

Had this been winter I wouldn't mind, I've spent many a year using my computer as free heating, but it's almost summer, I'll have yo counteract the effect with my AC now...

As a side note, finally started Legacy of the Dragonborn, started is a big word tho, I just got the ring(s) at Silent Moon Camp, the elemental defenses obe is kinda meh, but the Transmutation one is pretty good with my character for now, with the magicka and magicka regen buff.

Playing as Veronique Gawain (Which is, technically, a Breton Name? Mostly done to test the Lucien standard names, and guess what, he DOES call me Veronique at times!), Witch (obviously, only magic characters in my Skyrim).

She's distantly related of the current queen of Wayrest, the one we meet in TES Legends and we help ascend to the throne.

Her mother is the 3rd daughter of a noble currently going against King Barynia of Wayrest (Also from TES Legends), but is also his 4th cousin twice removed, and was particularly strict with his 4 daughters, trying to locate them onto advantageous positions within Wayrest and High Rock society.

Of the 4 daughters, the second ended up becoming a high ranking member of the Bretony Church, fighting tooth and nail against Barynia attempt to imperialize the faith via the Corrupt Order of the Hour. Watch out for her, she's important later.

Veronique's mother was supposed to marry into a political ally's family, to strenghten their bonds, but is not really into all this political intrigue thing, she'd be happier if they left her alone with her books and sone magic, trying to get back the arts that have been lost to time and the oblivion crisis...

But her father is a dick so she has to marry some dude, and Veronique's Mother, Armida the name, is still bummed about it, but thinks of a surefire way to get out of the whole deal.

So, Armida is weird, she's a weirdo, have you ever seen her without that stupid familiar on her shoulder? No. She also has, like, no friends, because she doesn't really have the time for it, too busy mixing potions and summoning dremoras and wondering why is their face so black Compared to their whole body.

Anyway, since noble life is a burden, and despite the fact she's gona miss her sisters, she decides to fake her death. She goes in the garden to "pick flowers," and prepares her death with a dusfigured body and some blood, skipping kingdom into Daggerfall.

There, she lives in peace for a couple years, even meets a kind young man, a classic Girl meets Ork tale, they become friends, her second friend after her wretched crow, much later she gives a try at the whole married life with him, she mostly appreciate the fact he seems completely fine with her hectic work hours and shit, it all goes fibe untill some of her father's men from Wayrest come into town and recognize her.

They assume the orc kidnapped her, so gather some racist bretons and the town guard, go to their witch cottage in the woods, break down the door in the night and set fire to it. Classic shit, Ork dies trying to stop them, never much for fighting or getting angry, Armida is brought back kicking and screaming to Wayrest, realizing later on she ended up gettinv pregnant by some weird twist of fate.

Her father expects her to get back into the old political intrigue life, but she doesn't, the taste of freedom too strong now, and not wanting for her daughter to become just another pawn, so she opens a portal to the Ashpit, as you do, PREGANANT to quote the sacred texts, and DEMANDS her hisband back to Malacath.

Malacath, god of outcasts, goes "Oh, Okay, sure, fine by me, I'm too old for this shit."

So, the Orc becomes the Green Knight, a spectral green knight guarding Armida for eternity, bond by undying devotion, and who gets pegged. He tears her father in half, her eldest sister becomes head of the household, poisons her own political husband, and takes control of the situation.

She gives free rein to Armida and her spectral husbando, who just locks up in her new mage tower and doesn't disturb anyone. They have Veronique, who is spoiled rotten by her grandmother, aunts and parents, and lives a long and happy childhood.

They survive the Pirate Attack of 4E 188 seemingly unscathed, the Order of the Hour and the Dark Brotherhood failing as a result, leaving the Bretony Chantry to fulfill the power vacuum. Veronique is interested in magic like her mother, but she has s passion for religion and lore, the tales of the knights, their ancestors, elven and men, their histories.

The much fabled Grail of Bretony (Imperious Races Mod). Their ancestors died trying to bring the Grail back to Wayrest, but she will succeed where they failed.

Tales of its location have begun to crop up. Most of them indicate Skyrim, a province rich with unexplored ruins and deep lore, artifacts and myths, forgotten and cosmological magic, of ghosts and automatons...

The Second Sister, her favorite aunt, priestess of Mara, is however the only one who knows this. The family, her parents, only know she's going to Skyrim on a pilgrimage, to visit the temples of the 3 chief dieties of Northern Mythology, Kyne, Dibella and Mara, to get in touch with her human roots or some shit.

Her Aunt, however, is helping her in her quest. She will be escorted to Riften, to the temple of Mara, to get directions on how to acquire her favour, and where her escort will conveniently lose sight of her. Lady Mara has given her aunt a vision of a blue khajiit, hiding nearby, that will give his life for hers, a good, faithful bodyguard in her travels, and some lead on the position of the grail, sonewhere in Falkreath Hold, suggesting to check on the local tavern for clues.

There she meets Inigo, Lucien, and news of a museum, opening up in Solitude, seeking treasure hunters and explorers, the perfect way to gain some coin and have an excuse to seek out ancient artifacts and knoweledge...

But seeling knoweledge open many a door in someone's inner mind, and her relationship with the gods has always been... academical at best, so, when she started finding pages of strange books, peppered on the corpses of those who wish her harm, as forbidden knoweledge starts flooding her mind, she wonders nust who might be responsible for this, the sudden desire to snatch people bones and turn them into soldiers growing stronger...

And Herma-Mora waits, secure in his new, fallen disciple, and her skill in finding a way to get to him.

Also her mother bastard familiar is there for some reason, maybe she knew her daughter better than anyone and knee she was up to something, she doesn't mind even if her talons are kinda digging onto the flesh of her shoulder through her robes, BUT she helped her find her own familiar!

A specteal, demonic dog called Styx, a puppy, ready to grow into her own fierce protector, abandoned by her old master near the Lady's stone, another step in her journey.

(From Falkreath, she has gathered 4 doomstones where near, Lady and the 3 Guardians, and she assumed the Grail, given the historical importance of the sites, might be located near any of the 13 doomstones. She finds her Familiar and a Dilapidated old temple with some daedric and aedric altars instead).

@joyful-soul-collector tagged me in a 12/12/12 challenge so i might as well do it now. i didnt take much consideration of what the questions were and im going with apollon only bc hes currently my least fav out of the bunch. (also major CW for edgy shit and emotional baggage and what not) basically... rp an oc of your choosing to answer some p neat questions. my questions are on the bottom ;p.

1. Would you rather have a monkey tail or cat ears?

stupid question... my phsyical form is perfect. but to humor this, i would say monkey tail. it is far more interesting, plus ela already has... cat ears.

2. Sweet or salty? Tea or coffee? Fire or ice?

foolish to believe that i have such vapid and binary tastes. but if you must know, i prefer spicy foods, coffee, and... of course... fire.

3. What would you do if you lost your best friend?

ha! i purposefully distance myself so as i do not feel the pains of loss. if that were the case though, i would maybe cry, write poetry, and after a century of self reflection i would... forget.

4. Are you scared of the dark? Have you ever been?

god... amateur questions really. i cannot lie and say i was never scared of the dark *sigh* i still... am i guess? but does it matter? is anyone afraid of the light?

5. Have you ever dyed your hair? Would you ever consider it if you haven't?

yes, i have. back around the 8th century in baghdad, a merchant offered me henna. it dyed my hair a bright red. i enjoyed my redhead escapades for a good 7 months until i went to europe, got called a witch, and was burnt alive. it felt good though.

6. Do you like to play with fire?

... i am... not very fond of this question...

7. Who and or what do you live for?

well myself of course. i could humor you and say ra, gaius, and ela but honestly, i dont... live for them per se. they're merely specks of organic material as is myself in the wider scope of nothingness. relationships are just as meaningless as anything in this game we call "life".

8. If you were a merman, what would your tail look like?

dolphin tail... they are my muses after all.

9. Have you gone to school? If you have, what was your favorite class. If not, why not?

im so much older than the western concept of a "school". ive attended academia and lectures before, such as scholarly debates between... ugh... sokrates and alkibiades. or many science and mathematics lectures with chinese and arab teachers. my favorite was with a young mayan astronomer. she was....exceptionally smart for a human.

10. Have you ever had a pet? Or taken care of an animal in any way? What was the animal's name?

ive had many bonds with animals such as dolphins, ravens, snakes, wolves, cattle, etc. probably the closest ive gotten to an animal though was a raven i named poe. i was centuries early to the poet, but it only felt right. he was a beauty. he died too quick though, but that's the price you pay as an immortal.

11. Can you swim? Can you drive? How fast can you run?

i swim faster than any fish, and i drive like hell on asphalt. i beat hermes in a footrace if that means anything?

12. Have you ever been hit on purpose?

what an exceptionally hard question to end on? are you perchance a therapist? i dont want to linger on it but take it as a reason why i hate zeus. besides that yes. ive been in a fight or two... or three... or close to a million. people say i have a very punchable face. i dont see it.

Holden and Bea Everette

This is my character submission to @asshole--official ‘s Journals character contest. (For those who don’t know it ends May 20th). I tried submitting this before but I have a better tactic this time picture wise!!

This post will be long, I apologize and please stick it out, I spent the past 3-4 weeks ironing all the details out of my characters (I also apologize for submitting two, but they’re twins).

They’re intwined with a story I’m working on and are close with my character, Serephina, in no way shape or form does she have to be physically included in your story. She’s just apart of their backstory.

But let’s get into it!!

These are the twins, Holden and Bea Everette and they’re color palettes - My specialty definitely is NOT drawing people

Holden and Bea Everette

A set of fraternal human twins assumed to be orphaned at birth. Raised in the Yggdrasil forest, primarily by an elf named Tiana, until they were in their mid teens. Upon leaving they had a hard time with the dramatic shift of society, not used to being faced with other humans let alone ones that were aware of their own mortality and aging process.

They’ve lived in Falcon Claw for about 5 years now and live on the outskirt of town so when the village fell they were not affected in large matter. Holden works as a guard, and Bea does not work in town but does the housework and cares for a garden where she grows vegetables and flowers. They don’t leave the village often, only for the occasional visit to the Yggdrasil forest or when Holden is tasked with leaving the village for work.

They share a friend who currently resides in Brightport (will later move to Phoenix Drop, she’s the protagonist in a story I’m working on.). Her name is Serephina Maureen, who they are very attached to, and happens to be a witch. They met as children while Serephina was visiting the Yggdrasil forest with her mentor (who will eventually be revealed in my story). The twins are very close to her and she occasionally visits.

Animals they own (Bea names all the animals, they’re all after plants as well):

White shorthair cat - Cy (short for Cyclamen) - male

Tan longhair cat - Ginger - female

White hen - Daisy - female

Tan hen - Sunny (short for Sunflower) - female

Brown hen - Apple - female

Gray goat - Mel (short for melon) - female

White horse with black mane - Baby (short for Baby’s Breath) - male

Gray, purple, and green rock dove - Snap (short for snapdragon) - male

The cats are free roam - they’re allowed anywhere they please and often tag along with Bea during her daily life, occasionally Holden when he’s not on the job. They sleep inside every night. On the right of the farm there’s a small barn, it’s only used for storage holding Mel and Baby at night and on rainy days. Baby is Holden’s horse and accompanies him at work and on journeys. The coop is right next to the barn and holds the hens at night and on rainy days. When she’s there to watch over them, Bea allows the hens and Mel to roam around the property. Snap is Holden’s bird mainly used for sending and delivering messages. When not delivering, Snap either accompanies Holden to work or sleeps in his cage (a classic bird cage), Serephina, the most common recipient of the letters keeps a cage for him in her home to allow him to rest. When Serephina does not have access to Snap for sending a letter the twins with recieve a letter from her familiar, a black crow named Cobb (male).

Here’s a very very very rough sketch on how I imagined their farm. I’m not attached to it whatsoever so it can be changed however you please. I thought it’d be nice to include this just in case.

Let’s get into personal bios!!

Bea

A semi short girl standing at 5”3, with waist length blonde hair. Shares the same green eyes and light skin as her brother as well as a face of freckles.

She’s ditsy and bubbly. Not that intelligent and is comedically blunt.

Being blunt allows her to be confrontational very easily. Isn’t afraid to stand up for herself and others

Cannot read a situation/room

She’s illiterate and has Holden write letters and reads letters and stories to her when needed.

Looks up to Serephina like an older sister (she’s actually older than Sere by six months) and during her visits she enjoys following her around and spending as much time with her as possible.

Dabbles with elven magic. Barely capable of doing it though, the only thing she able to do is speed up the growing process of plant.

Favorite color: dusty pink

Though she’s usually secluded, when around others she’s a social butterfly - going into town isn’t common though

Will befriend anyone and anything as long as they’re kind to her.

Capable of becoming angry, but it’s not common.

A bit of a hopeless romantic, she hopes to one day find love. She’s very oblivious and does not know how to flirt nor how to recognize flirting.

Would love to have children one day - wants a lt of children

Sexuality: Unknown

Capabilities

Cooking and baking - ranges from excellent to subpar depending on the dish

Cleaning

Taking care of living things - such as plants and animals

Gardening

Strength: Strong enough to carry the animals (excluding Baby) baskets of crops - incapable of self defense.

Sewing and embroidery

Slight capability to draw

Slight capability at magic

Intelligence: mediumish - very ditsy and forgets a lot of facts of things she doesn’t particularly care about, can remember trails to get back home and facts about people - gives good life advice

Healing: Capable of healing wounds using herbs grown in her garden. Able to stitch wounds up and patch up in general. No where near a doctor

Her hobbies include:

House work - cooking/ baking

She learned to take care of a house while growing up in the Yggdrasil forest, being ditsy she occasionally forgets or mixes us some steps and things go wrong, such as but are not limited to; salty pies, unmade beds, the occasional over or undercooked meal. Holden is usually there to lend a hand when she needs one.

She tends to the animals they have around the home She takes trips into town for items they don’t have access to at home, such as wheat and cloth. But will occasionally sell extra farm or animal goods. Selling is not common because her and Holden survive well on Holden’s salary.

Gardening

Gardening was something she picked up after leaving the forest. Where she did know how to speed up the growing process she had no idea how to normally care for a garden. She was taught the basic by Serephina, who grows her own herbs, and by Holden reading some gardening notes/books to her. She grows her own herbs and vegetables such as; carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce, radishes, beets, and fruits such as pumpkins, strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. She also enjoys growing various types of flowers. She names all her animals after plants.

Favorite flower: Daisies

Some other plants she grows: Lilies (Serephina’s favorite flower), Snapdragons (Holden’s favorite flower), Carnations (Tiana’s favorite flower.), Catnip

Artistic Hobbies

She began drawing in the forest and takes it up when she has nothing particular to do. She’s not particularly talented, she’s mediocre at best, but that doesn’t stop her from doing what she enjoys

Sewing and knitting. She repairs her and Holden’s clothes when needed. She also makes quilts and blankets, as well as making the occasional piece of clothing. She enjoys embroidering flowers at the edges on blankets and towels.

She finds working with flowers as artistic. She makes her own flower crowns, is always seen wearing one. Arranges bouquets to keep around the house at all times. Enjoys pressing flowers, Holden gets upset when he goes to open a book and finds it filled with flowers.

Other

She likes to go for walks. Sometimes in fields, sometimes in the forest. She just like nature. Sometimes wanders off with one or both of the cats and just sits in an abandoned field or at the edge of a river and works on her latest project, sometimes its drawing, sometimes it’s knitting, sometimes it sewing or embroidery it depends on her mood. Usually brings a lunch or snack for her and the cat(s)

Outfits

She enjoys flowy clothing such as skirts and dresses.

Makes her own clothing, as well as her brother’s

Enjoys floral print if she able to find cloth with it, otherwise she might embroider a flower or two on the edge of the skirt

Never seems to be wearing shoes - she enjoys being barefoot

Wears shoes when he heads into town, just a little pair of flats

ALWAYS wearing a flower crown unless she’s sleeping or making a new one

Floral jewelry such as flowers ties together to make a bracelet

Wears aprons while cooking and baking - she embroidered Cy and Ginger on her apron.

Magic Limitations

A decently tall/ slightly above average height man that stands at 6” , with shaggy brunette hair. He slicks it back for work. Shares the same green eyes and light skin as his sister as well as a face of freckles.

Has a strong sense of justice and is calm and level headed. Watches out for his sister a lot. He’s a worrier, though he can stay calm and collected he’s always prepared for the worst

Can read and write, often reads books and letters to Bea, writes letter for her as well.

Enjoys reading

Has a crush on his childhood friend Serephina. It’s a very large crush and has trouble keeping his composure around her.

YEARS from now (like after the timeskip) he moves to Phoenix Drop to be near Sere

Knows how to do the hard work of farming such as tilling ground. Does so for Bea when its needed for her garden

Favorite color: midnight blue

Weird thing for boats. Has never ridden on a boat. Really wants to.

Secluded. Doesn’t enjoy being around others, very anti social. Only speaks when spoken to. Only heads into town for work

Works as a guard in town.

Capable of becoming angry, but it’s not common.

Currently only had eyes for Serephina, but if approached by someone who is in love with him he would accept and start a relationship with them even though he does not love them. He would try his best to treat them right and would want to fall for them.

Sexuality: straight - but on the verge of bi - not exactly sure if he’d date a man but also not against it.

Capabilities

Basic cooking - not that great

Cleaning

Farming - in the sense of plowing and sometimes planting

Strength: High - very capable of self defense. Carries a sword with him on the job

Intelligence: Medium - much smarter than his sister, not in high enough intelligence to be a scholar

Working

Holden works as a guard in Falcon Claw, he keeps quiet and is usually on parole. He’s good at breaking up fights whether its a petty argument or a physical one. Doesn’t talk to people that often, has a speak when spoken to attitude unless it’s his sister, he’s got the nickname “silent guard” because of his refusal to make conversation with the locals. Not particularly close with the Lord, more of an around the village guard, hopes to be promoted to being a personal guard though.

Reading

He was taught to read and write by one of the Elder elves in the Yggdrasil forest and loves delving into a story. He doesn’t have much time to read but once in a while he stops by the library and picks up a book or two. On his off time he goes with Bea to the river and reads while she sews or draws. Sometimes he reads books to his sister while they’re out there.

Writing

He doesn’t write often, and he’s no story teller. He keeps a journal that he’s kept up with since he learned to write. He’s also in charge of writing any letter him or Bea need to send.

Hunting

Usually only for food. He does well with a bow and brings home small animals most days that he’s off of work. He’s not against a vegetable only diet, but he thinks it’s beneficial to have meat in his and Bea’s diets. He prepares them as well seeing his sister bawls her eyes out every time she’s left to skin and gut an animal.

Artistic Hobbies

He wittles a little bit. Not talented enough to have a career in carving but he enjoys making little animal statues for his sister and customizing his arrows

Other

Like Bea, Holden also enjoys going for walks. But he’s more of a climbing kind of a guy and likes to hang out in trees in the forest by the house. He used to do the same as a kid and old habits die hard. He usually has a book, whittling tools, or arrows on him.

Outfits

Holden doesn’t put that much work into his outfits.

Usually a basic shirt, some baggy pants, a belt (usually just rope, he’s has nicer belts but rarely uses them), and a pair of boots.

Wears earthy tones; whites, tans, and browns.

Sometimes seen wearing a flower crown, by force of his sister

At work he wears armor,a basic set nothing special

His cape is yellow, he chose this color to try and impress Sere - she didn’t notice

I didn’t add much color, I just tried to indicate the animal’s colors and the color of Holden’s cape (that matches Serephina’s skirt)
