f/o who isn’t used to smiles and laughter that you have to just wait, treasuring every small glimpse of a dimple showing on their face or a small smirk… if they have a lopsided/uneven smile too you love that about them so much, even if they don’t. maybe you make the most stupidest joke ever and they snort or stifle back laughter, shaking while trying to hold it in. you try to make them laugh again after, wanting more, but with the appearance they’ve grown used to keeping up they fight the urges to do so again.

…maybe you do get to hear their actual laugh one day as they grow more comfortable around you to do such, the sound of it whether it’s loud or soft or belly laughter or a chuckle or a chortle or really just whatever seems best at that moment is not just special to you but special to them, too, because they’ve never thought their guard would be let down so easily like this one day. but here you are now and they can’t help but let you in
