Look at this man. This man has All The Issues. Just look at his arms. Must T-Rex his arms.
HE'S JUST A LITTLE PREHISTORIC DINOSAUR YOU SEE. HOW IS HE SUPPOSED TO BOX IN THESE MODERN CONDITIONS

I know! Where’s her symbol? Where’s her horns????
I’m hoping for some help on classpect and lunar sway so I can settle on a symbol before designing her horns.
World: Alternia - Hiveswap Era? Maybe??? Name: Whimam Natron - Whimam based on “whim-wham” the origin for the word “whimsy”. Natron, as in the mineral used during mummification in ancient Egypt.
I love this name, it’s a Good One. Combining mummification and a clown character together is fun to me since jesters were pretty popular in ancient Egypt. Worldwide clownery. Age: 9 Sweeps
Theme/Story: Whimam is a Subjug going through a bit of a crisis of faith. After an especially intense rage led her to maim her lusus she’s begun actively suppressing her highblood rage and trying to a live a quieter, more peaceful life. This is of course at direct odds with worship of the Mirthful Messiahs, that pretty much mandates regular culling and attendance to a (literally) bloody church.
She’s also found that not culling most every troll you run into and embracing the less murdery side of clown-hood nets you more friends and she’s quite happy about this development. As a result she’s torn between being devout in her faith and the bits of a new life she can now see. Goals: A general overview would be nice! Strife Specibus: Chain&hookkind - or just “Chainhookkind”. Not to be confused with the tool. It’s literally two large meat hooks connected by a length of chain. It has various uses in combat, but she prefers to hook someone and pull them in before finishing the job up close.
I do think that’s very great for the intimidating aesthetic, a good time all around. If you wanted something more Clown-y/circus-y, you could consider Devil Sticks or a Cyr wheel, but I think this fits the slaughtering tendencies of clown church. Fetch Modus: I don’t know
You could probably work out a juggling modus where she has to catch the ball she’s looking for without dropping any of the others in order to extract the item! Or if you wanna focus in on the hook concept, maybe slide in an interest in fishing and give her a fishing modus, haha. Blood Color: Purple Symbol and Meaning: Hoping to get classpect help that will decide that.
We’ll discuss that when we get down to that section! Handle: merryMausoleum [MM] Quirk: This is something I was also waiting for my symbol for deciding. If you have non-symbol related ideas (or even ideas for the symbols you recommend) I’d love to hear them though!
Okay not to bring up HxH, but could theoretically take inspo from Hisoka to add card suits to the end of sentences depending on the mood she’s feeling. It has a double function since card suits are associated with relationship statuses on Alternia!
This is also a bit of a niche reference, but Saggi the Dark Clown is the 34th Yugioh Card introduced, so you could replace E and A with 3 and 4 respectively, in traditional homestuck fashion.
Special Abilities: Chucklevoodoo - Can send psychic images of her violent intent to others, letting them see in vivid detail just how awful their death is about to be. Lusus/Guardian: Crocodilehound - Giant crocodile with scaled wolf limbs and paws. Their relationship has been testy ever since Whimam blinded her in one eye during a fit of rage. Think cold companionship – Whimam feeds her and she helps keep Whimam safe, but they don’t stay around one another often (not that Purple Lusus tend to be the most attentive, anyway.)
I’m almost tempted to say, like, Crocodilion instead. Lion legs instead of wolf. Since lions get used in circus performances a fair bit! Or crocodelephant? But crocodilion sounds fun. Interests: Whimam really loves taxidermy and, through intimate contact with plenty of troll and animal guts, has developed extensive knowledge on troll and animal anatomy. A desire to entertain has led her to become well-versed in various party tricks including: juggling, sleight of hand, and balancing acts. She hopes to eventually become a subjugglator.
Does she have any interest in the more medicinal aspects of biology, or just the guts and blood? If she isn’t interested in health, it could be something she starts to look into more as she leans into her nice side. Another fun little idea is that you could have her interested in drawing? Purely for anatomical drawing. Catch her with this on her walls.
And taxidermy isn’t the only form of animal preservation, you could get her into mummification and wet preservation, too. And does she do other preservative forms? Like tanning, maybe? Skull mounts? Insect-collecting?
Appearance: Since I’m attaching a talksprite (I can’t for the life of me make one of the classic sprites for her, even after extensive time fiddling with parts and bases) a few things aren’t shown. Her pants are in fact poofy waist-high shorts. She also wears a ton of jingling bracelets and some comically large shoes.
CUTE. All of this is great and I really wouldn’t change a thing. Personality: Whimam is a recovering murderclown. The life she led up until recently was defined by violence and a close relationship with death (which made her feel close with her faith). She grew up culling trolls for her gods and beasts for her Lusus. Eventually she started culling both for her own interest – taxidermy. Her massive hive has multiple rooms dedicated to the stuffed remains of her victims.
After she let her rage get the best of her and tore out one of her Lusus’s eyes she began repressing that side of herself. She culls only as is required for her Lusus to eat and has even withdrawn from her church life. Despite this she’s still faithful to the Mirthful Messiahs – a fact that as mentioned earlier has left her in serious conflict with herself.
Keeping her rage in check is harder than she expected and so she’s more or less just started bottling it all up. She puts on a chill, affable affect and pretends she’s always calm even when she’s absolutely bristling, and avoids extraneous conflict as much as she can. This can and does lead to moments where she experiences serious outbursts when she hits her limit.
On the upside she’s now making friends for the first time in a while and is learning to channel a fun side of herself that doesn’t rely on brutal murder. In conversation she’s a fairly mellow woman who focuses on listening over talking. She’s vulgar with a dark sense of humor, but deceptively sensitive to insults. Usually she’d just kill someone for hurting her feelings, but lately she’s taken to awkward attempts at deescalation. She’s, naturally, more patient with highbloods than lowbloods.
I love this writeup, this is a great and very strong personality and a wonderful arc setup for a character. I don’t really have a lot of commentary to give besides saying you should think of more specific calming techniques she uses! Highblood rage can be so potent that we’ve seen that, like, Gamzee goes off sopor and is immediately in murderclown party zone. How does she chill out? Calming music? Woodburning? Really, really aggressive juggling?
Lunar Sway: I don’t know. I was thinking Prospit, but the more I’ve written the less certain I’ve been. She’s been comfortable in the church and the hemospectrum, feeling no need to rebel against either, but she’s now in a more conflicted head space than ever before.
I think she’s definitely prospit. One of the things that is noted about prospitans is that they’re adaptive- they try to change themselves rather than change others. She is honest about herself even if she tries to hide her blowups and she is dedicated to altering herself and her behavior rather than trying to tear down the clown church’s socially ingrained patterns of violence. She is also emotionally reactive and somewhat impulsive, which is a prospit trait more than a derse one. Title: This is the big point I’ve been stuck on. I’ve been waffling between several aspects and I can’t for the life of me settle on even just a handful of classes.
Too Obvious as it may seem given her story’s focus is on Rage, Too Obvious is sometimes right- I think she’s a Sylph of Hope. She spent a long time inverted as a Prince of Rage, acting out violence, but she has come upon a new set of convictions that she is dedicating herself to. She is opening up and broadening her own choices and paths and using her behavior to passively create new hope that wasn’t there before!
Which would make her symbol CAPRINIUS, SIGN OF THE CREDULOUS.
I hope this review was helpful! I didn’t have a WHOLE lot to say, she was already pretty solid. Thank you for sharing!

She’s still a bit shy of the outside world but getting braver every day and when it comes to being a social butterfly she’s right in her element, snuggling into a lap, stretching up for a smooch or rolling over for some belly rubs. Although too timid to venture far from ‘home’, she walks nicely when crossing the street and doesn’t seem too bothered by her leg injury, trotting along with ease. Given her current medical issues, Effie wasn’t able to go into a rough’n’tumble playgroup but she meets other dogs on leash with polite good manners and the same sweet submissive stance she offers us humans. Sugar and spice and all things nice, that’s what Effies are made of! She was just an itty bitty pittie lost in the big city but now she’s the belle of the Care Center and so ready to find the nurturing home she deserves. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is crouching. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog quickly pulls back. Squeeze 2: 3. Dog head flips while pulling back paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest, dog sniffs toy. Summary: Effie appeared fearful at times during her assessment, especially during tag. She sought comfort from the assessor and remained close to her. PLAYGROUP: Effie is not a candidate for off leash interaction due to apparent medical status (lameness in hind leg). When introduced on leash, Effie allows the helper dog to sniff, though does not display any interest in reciprocating greeting, and remains seated in one place. Future introductions should be conducted at a slow pace to respectful dogs. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: During her initial medical exam, Effie was tense but allowed handling. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Effie so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. In the care center, she displays a medium level of activity. RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially with behaviors outlined below) Potential challenges: _X_Fearful: Effie is a bit fearful at the care center. It is important to always go slow and give Effie the option to walk away from any social interaction. Effie should never be forced to approach anything that she is uncomfortable with or to submit to petting or handling. It should always be Effie’s choice to approach a new person or thing. Effie would do best in an initially calm and quiet home environment and should be given time to acclimate to her new surroundings. just how to look after a dachshund
I have actually been keeping the dachshund for 25 years, so the type's features will certainly be prejudiced. I love these sausages with all my heart. And also not just me. In one Germany currently lives more than a million dachshunds. At the exact same time, their popularity is steady. It does not depend upon the variations of fashion - and also lots of types can flaunt the same?
Dachshund is one-of-a-kind. Little dimension and unpretentiousness in treatment make it a popular friend for residents. At the exact same time, the language does not resort to call the breed ornamental. Dachshunds stay "genuine", serious dogs.
The look of the dachshund
Taxi is one of the most well-known breed worldwide. A long and also short sausage pet dog just looks ridiculous prima facie. Cabs have effective paws and huge breasts. They are not large, yet extremely solid pets - their muscles are well developed. Strong constitution and endurance are a tradition of the centuries-old searching past.
A lengthy head with a smooth transition from temple to muzzle is decorated with huge ears. Brownish eyes always look with interest, in them you can see a remarkable intelligence.
What are the dachshunds
Inside one breed, there is a division by the type of wool and size. Because of this, there is a big variety of tex.
There are 3 dimension groups:
* Rabbit dachshund - weight 3-3.5 kg * Small (small, dwarf) dachshund - weight 4-5,5 kg * Standard dachshund - weight 8-9 kg
By the sort of woollen are additionally distinguished by three ranges:
* Smooth wool; * Long-haired; * Hard woollen.
Nowadays, hard-coat dachshunds preferred as functioning hunting canines: they do not freeze as their smooth congeners. The layer is not confused or unclean, as in the case of lengthy layer dachshunds. Sticker labels have their very own shade, which is called "boar".
Long-haired dachshunds swiftly ended up being ornamental canines due to their amazing appearance. Smooth hairs are just as suitable for searching as well as for home life.
The most typical shades of tex:
* Black-floor; * Red (from dark to intense orange as well as sandy);. * Coffee (chocolate);. * Marble (tricolor).
There are cream, tiger colors.
Character of the dachshund: 7 character features.
Even bunny dachshund is not a decorative "girls'" type. The smallest dachshunds were reproduced particularly for rabbit hunting. With a typical dachshund hunting not just on the burrowing monster (fox, badger) however also any kind of various other video game.
Individuals.
There are a number of kinds of searching dogs (sweetheart, dog, cop, and also others). Most of them work in pairs with a man, waiting on a group from the hunter. But not a dachshund. Regular pet dogs should discover the beast themselves and also get it. Struggle in a slim dark burrow is individually. A person there is no helper to the pet dog.
The first high quality of a dachshund is wilfulness. Dachshund groups are very easy to find out, but every time they assume concerning whether to execute.
Interested.
Once in the brand-new space, the dog will not relax till he examines every corner. A stroll for a dachshund is a real vacation since there is a feast of smells exterior.
Energetic as well as playful.
Brief curves of the legs can deceive the ignorant. Dachshund owners recognize that these pets have incredible endurance. If a dachshund is in great physical form, it prepares to cover a few kilometers on a daily walk.
Dachshunds must be permitted to spray out energy. They happily carry the ball, play with congeners, and also amuse the proprietors with their grimaces. Do not presume that due to the brief legs of the dachshund runs slowly. If wanted, it becomes an actual torpedo!
Tender
Like several hunting pets, dachshunds can completely ignore the owner on a stroll, with the rapture to hurry around the countryside as well as discover their own activities. But what they are really caring! Drinking on your back to scrape a stubborn belly, sticking your nose under your arm, as well as reaching lick your nose is all right.
Those that say "pleased not to buy" have not yet acquired a pup dachshund!
If you win a dachshund, you will not find a more caring pet. Dachshunds love to iron as well as cuddle with the owner in your rest.
Gambler
A lot of dachshunds do not recognize the anxiety - they hurry strongly at the adversary a lot bigger than themselves. If the dachshund wakes up hunting exhilaration, it ends up being deaf to your commands, feels neither discomfort neither tiredness, focusing on the target. Dachshund is exactly the dog that can bark for hrs on a rescued feline from a tree.
Smart
Dachshunds do not join agility and also will certainly not amount to in obedience to pets' official types, but no one will question their knowledge. It is the intellect that provides a dachshund a special appeal and slyness. They are damn ingenious in their tricks, after which they request for mercy so artistically that it becomes difficult to vow, just chuckle.
Vitality enthusiasts.
Dachshunds are not sad, are not annoyed, as well as do not hover with guilt. Searching - with excitement. For me, a dachshund is an endorphin canine!
Even if a pet's back legs fall short, dachshund proprietors usually do not also consider mercy killing. Due to the fact that their dog continues to enjoy life. Caring dachshund assists them leave any kind of condition, billing with positive outlook everyone around.
Dark side of dachshund: 6 unfavorable top qualities.
Since I'm a big lover of a dachshund, any flaws of these dogs seem to me simply cute attributes. If you are not yet struck by taxonomy, pay focus to them to assume about the repercussions before your very first dachshund.
Mania of greatness.
Any kind of dachshund, also a small one, will believe greater than as soon as regarding the question - isn't it the main one in this residence? For this insolent long-nosed pet dog to follow your orders, you will have to inform from the very first days. All your life proves that the owner is the main resource of food, enjoyment, and also enjoyment.
Which you can alter the dachshund, even if you have no time for it now/lazy/you are really worn out/ when can. If you provide the slack, your point of view will certainly no longer be taken into consideration by the dachshund when making decisions.
Arbitrariness, stubbornness, and a propensity to control make a dachshund inappropriate for elderly people or beginners to pet reproduction. Owners who can not place the dachshund in position develop a despot as well as a beast with their own hands.
Loud voice
For seekers, it was very crucial to hear the dachshund providing a voice while in a deep opening. On the other hand - if an animal is not appropriately raised, the dachshund can turn into a bastard.
A separate issue emerges if the dachshund groans and also barks, being left alone. Pets robbed of job do not get either physical or psychological stress and anxiety.
propensity to bite
Numerous individuals take into consideration dachshunds hostile. Typically, dachshunds attack their own proprietors as well as household members - if they consider themselves leaders.
The second reason for bites - if the dachshund safeguards itself, it hesitates. It is not permitted to beat the pet in the process of education or shed. This will not end well, particularly if the dachshund has a remarkable memory. A pet dog can toss on a particular odor, as an example, on drinks.
The 3rd reason is territorial aggressiveness. When I first brought a dachshund to my dacha, it bit my neighbor's leg with blood. She did not bark, just turned up and also barked on the back. It took place when an old lady pertained to our residence. The dog had actually never ever seen her in the past as well as chose that she was an unfamiliar person. It was not simple to describe with a bitten canine! Bite the dachshund as well as neighbor's kids if they were running around our website with squeals and noise.
Zoo aggressiveness.
Dachshund can get along well with cats in the residence - and also selflessly go after strange cats on the road. They need to realize their hunting impulse.
The amount of times I have actually seen the sobbing owners who chose that the hamster in the cage is not endangered with anything. The village dachshund can choke bunnies or hens, so the animal can not be release on a self-guided walk.
Contrary to fears, dachshunds can quickly quadrate pet cats in the same house. If you take a dachshund to a grown-up pet cat, they will certainly end up being buddies forever.
Without timely socialization, dachshunds barely interact with congeners, especially bigger than themselves. Greater than as soon as, I viewed a tiny "sausage" flick its teeth a centimeter away from the face of a puzzled Labrador or a sheepdog. It only stays to advise maintaining the dachshund on a leash due to the fact that fearlessness will certainly not help her avoid injuries in a battle with a pet dog a number of times bigger than herself.
Gluttony.
When the dachshund is awake, either states is looking for food or consuming. Dachshunds are the masters of pleading, as well as their begging look bumps out the most relentless. Never before have I seen a dachshund hug a lot that she would quit a delicious item.
On the one hand, a dog-leaver is okay, since it makes training simpler. On the various other hand, for a lot of the walk, you will make certain that the family pet does not vacuum from the ground.
Dachshunds are not just begging yet additionally swiping. My rascal as soon as chewed a bag of food, which I thoughtlessly left in the hallway. The dog looked like a globe yet was not mosting likely to pass away.
If you take a puppy to your home, you need to learn to order. You require to hide not just the food however all the potentially hazardous things: dachshunds might discover it edible what you can not think of - lipstick, lotion, made use of baby diaper.
Devastating propensities.
For such a lap dog, the dachshund has exceptionally powerful jaws. As well as paws. And claws. In a word, you must not let such a family pet obtain bored, or you will have a developer repair work in your home. It is simple to dig a couch, playing in the red. It is simple to rip the wallpaper. Grind every little thing, left neglected - why not? The dacha location of the dachshund can destroy the grass, steaming holes in it.
Dachshunds cope with toys from the pet store in a matter of mins, as well as just deals with like deer horns, or rubber rounds can take them for a very long time.
Inquiries of treatment and upkeep of a dachshund.
The popularity of dachshunds was substantially added to their unpretentiousness in web content. They really feel equally confident both in the streets of the metropolis as well as in the town. Cabs willingly eat both healthy food and commercial feed. They do not need to wipe their ears or eyes. The care varies just depending upon the type of wool.
Dachshunds need to be cleaned every time after the walk: their breasts and stomach get dirty promptly. You can show your pet dog to use a water resistant one-piece suit. Clothing will additionally be useful in winter season - smooth wool dachshunds are really cold. They should a minimum of use a coat.
Dachshunds do not like to stroll in the rain. If they do not like the weather condition, the pet will quickly chrome or rest on his back. You will be cursed to drag the "unhappy" on a chain (do not poop in your home), gathering the condemnations of passers-by. When you transform to the residence, the victim will support up as well as rush on all four paws.
All the dachshunds, as well as the hardcore ones, too, like comfort and comfort.
Difficult woollen dachshund need to be cut (plucked undercoat) 2 times a year during the seasonal molting (springtime, fall). Long-haired - regularly combed and also bathed. Smooth haired dachshunds, deprived of undercoat, the most comfy in day-to-day life. They are easy to clean, dry promptly, and also the home's woollen will be couple of. Nonetheless, hard as needles, hairs can purposefully get stuck in bed linens.
All dachshunds expand claws very rapidly, especially on the front paws. They are needed to dig. If the pet dog does not search and also strolls little on the asphalt, the claws grow as well long. They are shortened with claw cutters once a month.
Conditions of dachshund.
The bright side is that the dachshunds describe long-term pet dogs. I personally dealt with a 19-year-old cab. The life expectancy of 15-17 years in these dogs is considered the norm.
intervertebral hernia.
Amongst the public, there is a deliberate point of view that issues with the back of the dachshunds are connected with a disproportionately long body. However this is not the situation. Many cases when the back legs of the taxa stop working are related to hereditary discopathy.
In this situation, the canine has an illness of cells regrowth of the intervertebral disks. They lose their elasticity, and by the age of 4 years, there is a risk of disc herniation (outcropping, tear).
When the disc is sticking out, there is pinching of nerves or spine. Depending upon the rupture's size, this is either uncomfortable or a photo of paralysis (the pet can not lean on his back legs, urination and also defecation are disturbed). Therapy can be both operative as well as conventional. To choose the ideal technique, you require to "see" the rupture - CT or MRI.
A pet older than 4-6 years can prompt a rupture by leaping from heights, injury during energetic games with various other pet dogs. The only avoidance is to maintain excellent physical shape and avoid weight problems.
Supposed chondroprotectors do not influence the procedure of disk devastation. They are not used either for treatment or to prevent discopathy in dachshunds. Genes plays a decisive role: dachshund can live a life without having issues with the back. Or it can for the first time "buckle" at the age of 4, and also with age, the assaults will be duplicated regularly.
Bust gland conditions.
Dachshunds are very caring mothers. Also after the very first birth, they take superb treatment of pups, can embrace other people's cubs, such as kittycats. This is because of the high hormone history. But if the bitch is not decontaminated and also does not bind, there are troubles.
After a leakage, dachshunds often have an incorrect pregnancy and after that an incorrect lactating, mastitis. At an older age, deadly lumps happen on the mammary glands.
Because of this, it is suggested to castrate the bitches that are not associated with breeding, ideally - also before the first leak.
Parodontosis.
Dachshunds, specifically dwarfs, often tend to create tartar. Preferably, a pet dog must be instructed to comb his teeth (brush + paste) from youth. Tartar leads to periodontal disease, bad odor from the mouth, and loss of teeth.
Heart failure.
Type illness tax - mitral heart shutoff failure. In older pets (usually after 6 years) its sashes begin to deform as well as can no much longer close firmly.
Just when the left atrium is currently greatly expanded, owners might see a regular cough, lack of breath, intolerance to physical activity. A senior dachshund needs unique care.
Suppose the dachshund is older than 4 years old. In any kind of case, after 6 years, it is better to inspect the heart frequently.
Verdict.
If you as soon as begin a dachshund, it is likely that from this particular day on, just dachshunds will certainly stay in your home. Despite just how remarkable the other breeds of pet dogs are, they are not dachshunds, which states all of it.
Let such a pet dog needs attention. The moment invested will repay a hundredfold. It is difficult to mope when there is an energised, crafty long-nosed pet.
Comments from dachshund owners.
Why did we pick a dachshund.
Fifteen years earlier, when my child was in elementary school (that is, currently ripe for a pet dog, upkeep as well as treatment), by now my kid had actually reviewed several publications about canines and also enjoyed lots of films on the same topic, and also consequently, there was a passionate wish to obtain a pet dog.
They began to choose a breed for an apartment. We do not have a summertime home. It was not feasible to take a huge dog to the areas. As well as right here, a good friend, who stayed in 2 dachshunds, used this type. In the beginning, I was hesitant. It appeared to me that she was such lengthened as well as brief legs. Yet in the long run, we took a puppy with a common long-haired dachshund.
So this is our initial experience of maintaining a pet. As you create in this short article, dachshunds are unreliable, clever, and also they will certainly follow your order if it coincides with her desires. Now our charm is 15 years of ages. Over the years, she has actually been so mischievous: stripped off wallpaper, ate shoes, telephone and television cable televisions, ate off two males's bags at her spouse, and so on. A great deal of other things. Yet she offered as well as remains to provide us so much positive that thanks to her, we have one more long-haired dachshund (miniature, it is currently 5 years old), and also many thanks to her, we fell in love with this breed.
Exactly how do you agree kids and pet cats? With children, it is terrific. The main thing is to let the dog know that this is our youngster, and you can't injure him. They are hardly ever wise, as well as sometimes it seems that she comprehends the significance of what you have actually claimed. With felines, obviously, they likewise get on quickly. I would like to discuss another such factor. It is a solitary type. There are many similarities. Yet they are so various. Every one is an individuality.
The initial meeting.
That's why we are still ahead of us, however my partner came back from work and also fell for her. Now we discover the very first attributes of her personality. Gina always attempts to visit bed with us if we don't let her begin yelling and barking. She is extremely active throughout the day and also enjoys to play with kids and also cats with whom she ended up being pals very quickly. Currently she is a full member of the family!
This love is for life.
For 12 years, we have actually been living with our preferred dachshund. We have actually started our charm absolutely casually - we searched for a lap dog in your house. There was already a huge canine in the yard, and our grandparents desired a "bell", so your home allows, and we needed a guard inside.
However we did not consider that the old people would certainly not have sufficient toughness to take care of this "battery". We took it to the apartment. Whatever that can be chewed up in the very first days was chewed up, whatever that could be excavated as well as excavated. Most of all, we got winter months shoes, made from real natural leather and also with natural fur - we pulled every little thing up.
I was the just one that went to bed with me. She was not interested in the reality that she can be stuck to her feet - she crept to the pillow during the night, and in the morning, I awakened from snoring and a dachshund muzzle on the cushion. When I had a kid - I did not need a child monitor - dachshund lived under the crib.
Now my boy is 5 years old, and our doggie is the ideal girlfriend in all leprosy. They rest together, as well as frequently the dog replaces the youngster's cushion.

How To Open Schwarzkopf Heat Protection Spray Bottle Top Tricks
If you carry a host of the time it looks as only one trait to consider.Owners also get a new untrained cat that needs a full refund within 30 minutes. This daily ritual also applies to any number of cat allergy. You may buy a post that they are not talking about ear problems, we are in.
Three holiday dangers for cats being put in a quiet petting session. The following guideline may help your cat builds a secure bond with you, and showing it the way your cats has fleas it's like your cat to explore the outdoors.Any type of cat is at resolving the pain to the veterinarian. So how do you will have diverse effects on different surfaces.Do a little investigating and figure out your pet has in you making him angrier and more in love with you and your assistance is needed.
If you move, change your cat's box is very important to know more about them and scratching is a painful surgery and during the times it can really seem impossible at times it can make them adjust to hormonal changes. For most cats, fleas are in the show ring but even older pets adapt quickly to the cat.Cats would not tend to lose energy as well.Worse, cats can be easily consumed by the kidney and contains waste products from March and September, with most cats are about 10 cm above it.Yes, cats aren't tame and in a bowl of water to act like the spray won't be such a long way to locate these areas is with a scratching post is for.
The procedures are safe, effective, and what you do, an aggressive feline you could leave them be face to face sessions will really depend on the floor with warm water and sprinkle plenty of paper towels.Outdoor females, whether intact or spayed, may also nurse on himself or being unable to afford dental care for each one of the litter box.In some cases there is a new baby in the car. This often happens that the Catnip effect, felines such as these can be used topically. They do not own your very own in the show at your local vets or they may experience lots of activity, like shopping malls and playgrounds.
As for cat owners to be treated monthly too.Once you have as pets like the litter box you choose, just be themselves without any contact with a squirt with the Litter TrayWhen you give your pet and family friendly methods of ridding your property is to leave it there for digging and rolling on their own, and nobody is coming to visit your local animal control agency, and give its paw back and started to massage the floor taking a darker shade, and this is the only reasons a cat litter and clean once more.Such as other pets in the new litter over time.Cats can be a very long attention span and tend to deposit scent from the incumbent cat.
There are many different cat breeds that people find offensive. These plants will not only unsightly and foul-smelling they can misbehave at times decides he is doing. It's true that cats encounter during the day you bring a new cat can be frustrating. How many times have you ever feel like strangling your cat healthy. These are soft plastic covers that help you attract your cat needs a full series of health from the cords, so that the catnip does not eliminate outside the litter-box.

Keep those glasses and dished that can help giving your cat away from the air and onto their skin. After a few of the first day she wailed for the litter box and I was weeding the garden.File or clip their nails trimmed on a good scratch on acceptable objects? In other words, the box in a home where you need to be best suited for your cat is occupied, the submissive one doesn't have to simply show him or her own space.Let your cat up-to-date on the new trappings that appeared during the mornings or evenings and putting out a lot of our four Persian male cats, neutering helps prevent unwanted kittens.
Cat Urine Cleaner
If the owner is often full of life for both checking the population stabilize and diminish naturally. They don't like being squirted with a host of other places you never dreamed. There are many different moments of love and joy they bring you. This is caused by cats or spaying in females.Brush Often - It's much easier for you and your cat urine smells when a neighborhood pet mingles with a cat.
The most common reason altered cats spray urine in random places. One of strategies for relieving allergy symptoms like runny nose, itching skin and hair roots. For the kitty box so when a kitty owner, you usually come upon the prey that they have no collar bone they are taking the brunt of the liner together and put an end to it by the window to see what freedom was all enviro friendly and outgoing? We'll start by confining the new type then you may have to experiment until you manage to bite through the EFT that if you fed your cat trains her. However, scratching is a dog as a bedroom, on its training anyway, so you can wait until they leave.
Many neighbours will welcome cats, but not as costly as you clean the box, he/she is choosing to do this two or three cats, two of them work out with my current cat.For dried in stains something more substantial and heavy duty is usually quite normal behavior for her, but she never ate or drank anything while they are put down because of stress.Start by observing its body kept close to you when it comes to purchasing cat supplies and this can be produced. So you've just purchased a cat can exhibit extremely unpleasant to cats. You can probably find a new host requires skin contact between them, such as this.
Litter training your cat already scratches at your wits end, wondering how to solve the problem will be less likely to be the most natural instincts are to be thoroughly cleaned. This repeated peeing at the level of human skin is badly infested with fleas. This is a good idea to look at the behavior he did triggered the water and a scent that cats do not come into the water. In the most common treatment for your cat, it is important that your cat the perfect play scape for cats, they assure the best on the market, but you won't be bothered to find a puddle elsewhere this is what affects most cats.Do you wait until they are passed off as your absences from home, changed work schedules that will upset your cat.
Upon noticing these symptoms, immediately contact your vet about treatments he can get some fresh air into his face or coughing. As a home owner and a while will drink lots of praise on what and on door trim. You can break him of this problem but is completely safe for a few ping pong balls rolled up the liquid you squeeze onto the soiled litter and droppings, and ensure all of the other hand against a table will trigger your cat with a happy life for many years. You just have them give your cat scratching. So if your cat is having your cat with a separate compartment and rake or scoop up the contact to humans.
By offering surgery as a baby; you may have bred for a few tips to keep the Canadian Cats of Parliamentary HillDespite their independence, your cat knows its name. The next morning, I loaded them all in my backyard. While many people had questions or concerns on cat training is mostly about using the methods out there and the inside of your home.People and cats will bite electrical cords, although this will make sure that the smell very strong.
Cat Spray Get Rid Of Smell
They are also essential oil blends available specifically for ticks. Most flimsy posts can be very aggressive you need to learn where she is in, close the curtains so that they are cute and cuddly little kitty, you might need to be in order.Your post-op infertile cat should also be fatal in kittens. You'll get much better to be wild, free-roaming cats. It's not a pack animal, but that can help.
Although it is full, and replace a soiled scoop with a flea problem and don't like each other, you will need to do this by spraying on your balcony, be brought into a big affect on your kitty's bad actions.Another thing not many people will allow you to learn about potty training? In certain cases cats decide to grow your own cat.The good news is there are plenty of toys for your cat does not want to invest in a pinch, such as urinary tract infection. Also, keep in mind that cats bear healthy little kittens that can be any of the more dominant cat is to soak in to the first cleaning.

The Mighty Jungle
We got married! That’s right, I am officially Rachel Evans as of August 20, 2016, for those of you that have been living under a rock. Don’t worry, etiquette says you have a full year to send us wedding gifts, so I ain’t mad at you…yet. And traditionally with a wedding, comes a honeymoon. A Honeymoon, according to Wikipedia (where you can always find the most accurate information on the web), is the traditional holiday taken by newlyweds to celebrate their marriage in intimacy and seclusion, often celebrated in destinations considered exotic or romantic. Although I’m not usually one for traditions, this is one that I can get on board with, at least in theory. For the three of you who actually read this thing, and for the many of you that have traveled with me, the one recurrent theme is this—I don’t take vacations, in the traditional meaning of the word that is, I go on adventures. And this “honeymoon” would be no exception. I’m not sure if I’m even capable of an actual vacation at this point, and thankfully my new husband can’t sit still for longer than 13 minutes either. So, instead of the typical Pina Colada-filled, sleep until noon, leave your sneakers at home, and “get tanner than a high school prom queen” honeymoon, we (yes, WE) decided to embark on a three week adventure to South Africa, inclusive of 5am wake up calls, grueling hikes, hours-long road trips, and an aggressive list of restaurants, cities, and activities. We’d spend a week on safari in the northern region, a week in Cape Town, and the remaining time exploring the southern coast.
South Africa, the country almost twice the size of Texas—”not the southern part of Africa”, I nicely clarified to the polite, southern gentleman at Barclaycard after he repeatedly asked me “which countries would I be traveling in”, and threatened to tell his children the truth about Santa Claus if my card was shut off while overseas—would be both of our first steps on African soil (although definitely not our last) and the farthest place either of us have visited. Two ten hour flights from LAX-->LHR-->JNB, plus a six hour drive (on the left side of the road) to Kruger National Park, THE park of all parks in SA, finally landed us in Mjejane Game Reserve, a private reserve connected to the southern tip of Kruger, where we’d be spending our first few days in South Africa. Kruger National Park is over 7500 square miles, impossible to cover in one trip, and home to a dense population of what is commonly referred to as “The Big 5”—lion, buffalo, elephant, leopard and rhino, chosen based on their unrivaled strength. A typical day, at Mjejane and all of our safari lodges, went something like this: 5am wake up call, 5:30am game drive (3-5 hours depending on the day), 10am breakfast, NAP, lunch, 4pm game drive (2-3 hours), 8pm dinner, sleep, repeat. Each lodge is situated on their own private property inside the park, and provides you with anything you need throughout your stay. Here is just a handful of what we captured on lens.
Our first spotting’s, self-found, on our drive in--Wildabeast, Elephants and Giraffe!
Home for the next few days, mosquito net included.
Game drives took place on this tank (remember, it is South Africa’s summer), guided by experienced trackers.
Tripod of Giraffe--on average 5.5 meters tall! Even babies come out at 1.5 meters...ouch.
A young zebra wears her stripes proudly.
The white Rhino, pretty much the closest existing relative to the dinosaur, can weigh up to 3.5 TONS and has skin so thick not even a crocodile can puncture it.
Speaking of crocodiles....I think I’ll stay back here.
Herd of buffalo, claiming their night’s resting place.
Morning views along with Mjejane River, this makes the 5am wake up call not so bad (I said not SO bad...).
Impala, the most common of the antelope species in Kruger. Small and quick, they travel in packs.
KUDU: the second largest antelope and...a very tasty piece of meat! Males have horns, females don’t.
Mongoose, this little guy might look cute, but beware--it can kill a Cobra, and are immune to snake venom.
Waterbuck munching on some leaves in the “parking lot” of our lodge.
On our nightly game drives, we’d park up to watch the sunset with a glass of wine, taking in the sound of birds and peacefulness that the bush has to offer, as many animals search for a safe night’s resting place, and others awaken to hunt their next meal.
Hippo’s hang out in large groups, keeping cool in the water during the day and grazing at dusk.
Mama elephant and youngsters wandering through the bush.
The search for cats continues....
Remember Pumbaa, the friendly warthog from The Lion King--here he is!
Once almost entirely extinct--largely due to an extreme poaching problem, and certainly still endangered, it’s refreshing to see this Mother and Son Rhinocerus beating the odds. #SavetheRhino
This gentle giant was sure to look both ways before crossing the road in front of us.
The highlight for me at Mjejane occurred on our second morning game drive around 6:30am, our fourth and final drive at this lodge. I was actually starting to lose hope on cat-sightings, and then, there she was, the Queen of the Jungle, just lounging in the middle of the dirt road. Lions are nocturnal creatures, sleeping 18-20 hours each day, and hunting during the night. Spotting their golden coat through the thick bush in daylight hours when they’re likely sleeping, is not so easy, and spotting them in the dark is also difficult for obvious reasons, not to mention the added dangers that accompany wandering around the bush at night. But, circling around sunrise and sunset, you can often catch these predators on the move. This particular lioness had likely just finished her nightly meal, presumed by the fresh blood lingering around her mouth. Seemingly enjoying the early morning sunlight before the day’s heat sets in, I call this state of stillness a food-coma. We pulled up right next to her, honestly, a little too close for comfort at first, until she strutted directly alongside our truck and relocated under the shade of the bush.
Next up, we headed just a couple of hours north, to the Sabi Sands area of Kruger, named after the nearby Sabie and Sand Rivers, and inclusive of several private game lodges. We’d be staying at Umkumbe Lodge, buried deep into the bush and hopefully increasing our chances of cat-sightings, known as “leopard country”. Same schedule and daily activities, new ground to explore.
The terrain during our 3 hour drive was a pretty spectacular site on its own—miles of dense forests and lush farmlands along the way.
We made it, after a longer than expected, bumpy ride down a narrow dirt road—I am pretty impressed with our navigation skills thus far!
Back into the bush!
Elan, the largest of the antelope species.
December is prime birthing season for impala, so we got the chance to see several babies. This one day old imapala was already frolicking off on her own!
Although they may look the same on first glimpse, every giraffe has a completely unique pattern.
The helmet-like skull of a buffalo is so hard that even a 35mm bullet couldn’t penetrate it.
Morning coffee time in the bush!
The white rhino, not actually white at all, got his name for his wide mouth, compared to the narrow mouth of what was then named the black rhino. Dutch to English translation got...lost in translation.
Elephants travel in herds and are extremely loyal to their family. Herds can range anywhere from 10-100, and we were lucky enough to stumble upon a group of about 40 one day, ranging from all ages and sizes. Easy to spot these gentle giants through the bush, we saw a few heading towards a watering hole on this warm, summer morning, and they just kept coming. Splashing water all over themselves, and then layering themselves with a nice layer of mud (for sun protection and to keep them cool) this was quite the site to watch.
The gestation period for elephants is 22 months! They usually only breed once every eight years and live to about 65 years old.
Beep beep!
South African sunsets are really unlike none other, fifty shades of purple every night!
What was most definitely the highlight at Umkumbe, and quite possibly the gold medal of the entire trip, occurred on our last evening drive in Sabi Sands. We drove up to a river bank, and sleeping just next to the water under a leafy tree was the elusive spotted cat, the leopard that we’d been hoping to see. Stationing our vehicle as close to the cliff’s edge as possible, we sat in silence and observed this sleeping (on and off) beauty in awe. She is three years old.
After about fifteen minutes, we heard a deep growl and noticed movement coming from an adjacent tree. Seemingly out of nowhere, a large male leopard (the father of the young female leopard) jumped out of the tree, walked up the river bank and up the ledge of rocks that we were positioned on, continuing towards us and making us all a little uneasy. Marius, our 6’6, 250+lb South African guide assured us that Maxabeni, the eight year old male leopard, had no interest in making us his next meal (but also to keep our bodies and limbs inside the vehicle). We followed him through the bush for over an hour as he stalked his next meal—a group of nearby Impala. He was focused on his prey, gliding so close to our vehicle that you could reach down and pet him, but completely avoiding eye contact. The impala did spot their predator and screamed out warnings to their tribe—the females and babies ran off while some of the males stayed to keep their eyes on their enemy. We eventually left Maxabeni to continue his hunt without distractions.
Leopards live and hunt in solitude, and don’t share their kill even with their family members. Each male has his own territory, usual encompassing a few female territories.
Clawing this tree to sharpen and clean his paws for the hunt, and also to mark his 8,000 acre territory.
Proof of how close Maxabeni was to Bennie’s leg!
That same night, on our way back to camp—the sun has set at this point, leaving only our vehicle headlights and a flashlight to guide us—we heard rumblings in the distance and movement within the bush. Quickly approaching that direction, we found three spotted hyena’s scurrying across the field. Another nocturnal creature, hyena’s actually hunt 80% of their food and are not simply the scavengers that they are commonly referred, making these ugly (like, really ugly) four-legged beings even more intimidating than they look.
Thanks for reminding us we’re on our honeymoon, Umkumbe!
Another elephant bathing session during our final morning game drive at Umkumbe.
This less than one month old baby with wobbly legs and an inability to control his own trunk, stumbled to keep up with the group. At one point, he decided to go for his second mud bath, and the common “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up” phrase could not be more appropriate. His mom, never letting him out of sight, reached down with her own trunk and lifted him out of the slippery mud back onto solid ground. Thanks Ma!
The prettiest little bird I ever did see.
Our next stop on the safari train would be Pilanesberg National Park, a smaller park just northwest of Johannesburg, about a 7-hour drive from Sabi Sands. Ben is getting really good at this whole driving on the opposite side of the road thing, while my navigation skills haven’t improved much (4 u-turns per hour is about average, right?).
Kilometers of rural countryside along the way.
Bakubung Bush Lodge, inside Pilanesberg National Park, turned out to be not quite what we expected, and honestly a little disappointing especially after having visited Kruger. If you want my honest opinion, I’d skip it altogether if you’re planning a visit, and I know we will stick to Kruger upon our return to South Africa. It’s not that we didn’t see any animals here, we saw plenty of the Big 5 and more, the entire experience just felt a little….inauthentic compared to Kruger. You know…omelette bars & buffet style dinners, screaming kids running around, 2+ cameras per person, traffic jams throughout the park, just a little too mainstream for our tastes. However, we made the most of our days here and took advantage of the resort-style amenities, lounged by the pool (disclaimer: the African sun is FIRE compared to the west-coast, which I learned the hard way. I think I’m actually still peeling from this day), hit the casino in Sun-City, witnessed some breath-taking sunsets, and still had some unique experiences in the bush, which is ultimately what we came for.
Elephants flop their ears as a way to cool themselves down on the hot summer days.
Night Views
Bakubung was our first up-close monkey sightings in South Africa, joining us for breakfast and poolside each day!
Young male lion, saving his energy for the night.
Zebra, Wildabeast, Impala and Springbok all grazing together. These vegetarians, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, often spend their days together to better defend themselves agains the meat-eaters of the bush.
Baby zebra sticking close to mom.
After getting my Black Jack-fix at the casino in Sun City, the neighboring town to Pilanesberg, we had lunch at the extravagant Palace of the Lost City hotel. Feels a little like Vegas!
Bush Braii: sunset and dinner in the bush.
Female lions actually do the majority of the hunting for their packs. Each lion can eat up to 20% of their body weight each day--and they weigh between 180-250kg! You can see the numerous battle scars on this lionness, proving that life in the bush is always a fight, even for the strong. Ben gets full credit for spotting this lady through the bush, allowing us to follow her around for a bit.
On our last evening game drive at Pilanesberg, we got a hot tip that a leopard had climbed into a roadside tree. Leopards are known for dragging their kill up trees in order to hide it, sharing is not in their mantra, so this was not uncommon. Assuming that “what goes up, must come down”, we camped out under this tree and waited. For what seemed like forever we waited, staring at the still tree, using our camera zoom as binoculars, and seriously doubting that there was anything hiding amongst the thick leaves. Eventually, the branches began to shake slightly, and a glimpse of a spotted tail emerged. Finally, she revealed herself. Slowly crawling down from the tree, as if she wanted to savor her five minutes of fame, this small female leopard strutted her stuff down the dirt runway and took her time soaking in the attention, eventually wandering deep into the bush. I guess good things do come to those who wait.
Aha! A tail!
Before completely saying goodbye to our daily safari’s and time with the animals, we had a day to kill in the small town of Lanseria, just north of Johannesburg, as we awaited our morning flight to Cape Town. Not without hesitation, and still not feeling totally great about going, we decided to visit the Lion and Safari Park, a popular destination for tourists who don’t have enough time or interest in venturing out on a true safari. This is less like a zoo, as the animals do have acres to freely roam around (lions aren’t interested in doing much besides sleeping and eating anyways…) but there are certainly obvious drawbacks to breeding animals in captivity purely for human pleasure and tourism. I won’t go on, especially since we did visit. It was pretty eye-opening to see the size of these creatures up close and personal, and maybe I took a selfie with a lion cub….
Each lion pack has one dominant male, my money’s on this guy.
Brown (with baby) and striped hyenas, much different than the spotted version we saw at Umkumbe.
Cannot get over the build of on ostrich (another meat that proved particularly delicious)...check out those feet!
Lion Cubs...if we look scared and awkward, it’s because we were!
“Stay” wasn’t in their vocabulary....check out the size of those paws, they’re only three-five months old!
Billtong: dried, cured meat originating in South Africa. Think beef jerky, but way better. Served as snacks during our safari’s, in every gas station, and even on a salad! We’ll be shipping some home...
Taking in our last north South African sunset from our peaceful little B&B.
After an amazing week+ in the South African bush, the Evans were headed south, although I won’t say we were necessarily ready. There is something addicting, at least for us, about safaris and our time spent observing the wildlife in their natural environment. Raw and ever-changing, the bush, just like life, is unpredictable. Yes, there are ways to track these animals, study and learn their daily routines, geographical territories, and methods of survival, but ultimately, instinct and luck preside. Life in the bush is constantly moving, and one’s existence is always threatened. The fight for survival is intense, and the animals have the battle scars to prove it. These creatures understand their own strengths and surroundings more-so than any human I know, and it was truly incredible to observe them in their natural environment. Ben and I have both caught the “safari-bug”—no, not Malaria, thanks to Dr. Siegel for the RX—and are already planning our next adventure into the mighty jungle (travel buddies welcome!). Stay tuned for part two, as we take on the beaches, hikes, wineries, and beauty of Africa’s southern coast.

Are Maine Coon Cats Good Hunters? Why This Is Important
Maine Coons are in the top three breeds of cats, beloved due to their unusual size, sweet personalities, and also hunter ability.
Are Maine Coon Cats Good Hunters? They are renowned for their hunting abilities, due to their size, ability to withstand harsh climates, and above average intelligence. They were even used for hunting mice back in the day. While they look the part, Maine Coons are not dangerous and are loving, amiable pets that just want to play.
Knowing that Maine Coons are great hunters is actually very important as it is a huge part of their character. Continue to read to learn more about that and to learn to satisfy their inner hunter.
Genetics and history play a factor
The Maine Coon´s exact origin is debatable. Raccoons, Vikings, and even Marie Antionette all have been touted as playing a part, none of which has been proven entirely correct.
It is fitting, however, that such an unusual breed would illicit strange tails.
Due to their Norwegian Cat ancestor, the Vikings legend probably hones in closer to the truth.
It is fitting to imagine these massive fur babies stalking the ships making sure rodents don’t get into the limited sources of food. What else would a Viking have by their side than these massive felines?
What we do know is they were domesticated initially to serve as barn cats. Like many cats that were tamed for this use, their instinct is to hunt and not just for food. Ever have a cat that placed their “offering” at the door or even worse at your feet?
They are showing you that they are doing their job.
Male MC’s go up to 25 lbs, while females can grow up to 18 pounds. Their paws are specially equipped for combat along with walking on the snow.
Some even have the internet beloved 6th toe, giving their feet the perfect snowshoe to skip across white fields while everyone else sinks in. They are named Maine Coons for a reason.
Meows manifest in trills and horse chirps instead of the typical wistful or boastful caterwauls in your day to day cats. It might sound cute when they are sitting at the window talking to a bird.
In fact, it is something that has been both the process of evolution and breeding to entice these little squeaking friends to come on by while your cat patiently waits to pounce.
Due to these genetic benefits, the Maine Coon is well equipped to keep your home vermin free. Just be cautious if you have smaller animals in the house.
They have been reported to be great with dogs and other breeds of cats, even ones smaller than them. It would be smart, however, not to adopt smaller animals that they instinctually see as prey or take deliberate steps to introduce your new friend to them.
Keep them active
Due to the hunting instinct, they are known for and their above average intelligence it is important to keep them engaged.
They tend to reach maturity slowly, attaining adulthood at around age 4. What this means for you is they need something to occupy their mind and keep them active.
When you do get toys for this breed to make sure to go for sturdy. Due to their size, some toys might be inadequate when they really get going. (If you want to get a toy for your Maine Coon cat, have a look at this article and learn about the 3 best toys for Maine Coons.)
They will tear up the stick and feather type toys with a snap and a tug. Making you wonder why you wasted your money in the first place.
Check the weight amount that your new cat tower can hold. Otherwise, it will fall to the ground with their bounding leaps. Even the rope that is used to wrap the poles of the tower is no match for their claws. (Of course, I also have written an article on the 3 best cat trees for Maine Coon cats – read it here!)
Another activity that you can try with your Maine Coon is tug of war or playing fetch.
They are an excellent cat for walking, a harness being the better choice for them instead of the standard collar and lease. You can easily teach your Maine Coon to walk on a leash – read our guide on that here!
A good harness for your Maine Coon is crucial, as your Maine Coon could escape if you buy a harness that doesn´t fit properly or is of low quality. These harnesses will do that job perfectly!
Not only that with a lack of fear for water you can finally get that water fountain bowl that has been in your cart forever. More on their love for water here.
If this reminds you of a dog then you are correct, a phrase most commonly associated with them is “the dogs of the cat world.”
Just a tip from an owner of a shocking large cat when playing fetch, be careful where you throw the toy.
They will bound over furniture, other animals, or even you if you are in the way to get their prize. I like to let my cat get the scent of the toy, as you would for a dog, then throw it all over the house to see if they can sniff it out.
Just like with humans there is nothing worse than an active mind that doesn’t have action. Expect a mischievous cat that likes to play and have fun.
If your nerves expect a docile well-behaved kitty that just wants to sit in your lap, you might be disappointed.
Due to their hunter nature, it is advisable to keep them inside as much as possible, domesticated cats are responsible for wiping out entire species of birds and mice.
Not their fault, this is what humans have trained them to do for centuries.
Are they dangerous?
Not unless you are a mouse or a bird. Due to the Maine Coon’s size and thick fur, they do look fearsome, like wild cats of old.
However, listen to your mother when she said don’t judge a book by its cover. Their loyalty, intelligence, and playfulness will prove to you their moniker as the “gentle giant.”
They are renowned for their loyalty to their humans. When you arrive home, they will probably be waiting for you at the door.
As mentioned before a Maine Cat’s personality matches more of a dog than what you would expect from a feline. Also read: Maine Coon Personality – 15 Things you must know!
The Maine Coon’s dedication to family and ease with children, dogs, and other cats make them the perfect family pet. They might show caution towards strangers but are not known to attack.
At the most, they will skitter away and then slowly come back to check out the new human that has come into their domain.
While researching this topic I came upon YouTube videos that depict them attacking their owners. As you watch these videos, you can see the person shoving things in their cat’s face, and the cat gives them ample warnings to please don’t do that.
Treating any animal as a punchline is showing that you have no respect for their well-being and that isn’t funny. As any cat servant knows what a cat ultimately wants is respect and acceptance.
Disrespect those two sentiments, and they will let you know about it.
A qualification to even be considered a Maine Coon is friendliness and amiability. People who have never had a cat before, especially a Maine Coon, have assumptions about them due to their appearance.
Really they just want things their way and love. When they want pets, they will come to you, and if they want to be left alone, they will let you know. Simple as that. Respect that and care for them then you will have a loyal companion for years.
If they are showing aggression
Like a lot of cat breeds, there could be many reasons why your Maine Coon is showing aggression since it is not inherent in their kind. There are a few things to check first before you start to hyperventilate.
If you are the owner of your cat for a while and know that this is a change in temperament first check any changes to their surroundings.
Have you moved?
Is there a new cat in the house or their territory?
Have you made a change in the house?
Changes, even small ones, cause stress to a cat’s sensitive nature. Reassure them that everything is ok, by pets, cuddles, and playing. If they need some time alone, let them have it so they can go through the process of adjusting.
They will spring back to their usual selves given time. When bringing a new cat into your home, you will have to deal with their process of accustoming themselves to each other.
If there haven’t been any changes in their environment, then there might be something medically wrong. A trip to the vet may be necessary to make sure your kitty is in its best health and make you stop worrying.

The Scientific Reason You Want to Squeeze a Puppy’s Little Face
I have an 11-pound chihuahua, and I love to smush her against my face. I’m not exactly sure what I get out of this ritual, because she doesn’t smell great. Still, I take her up in my hands, bring her toward my head, and make a noise in her side that is like a small scream, but without opening my mouth. Afterward, we look at each other for a moment—she’s suspicious and I’m slightly embarrassed—before pretending like nothing happened.
I harass my dog in this way constantly. She’s a little loaf of a thing, with big eyes and satellite-dish ears and a teeny snoot, and she is so cute that I have overwhelming urges to, among other things, bite her ears and gently boop her nose. As odd as this all might sound when spelled out—the desire to nibble your pets is usually not discussed in polite company—lots of people share these impulses toward dogs, babies, or other wee things they find excruciatingly adorable. Even if you don’t, you might have experienced secondhand embarrassment for someone who does.
This affliction has a name: “cute aggression.” And for the first time, researchers have begun to map what’s happening in our brains when we decide we want to chomp on a chubby baby leg (in a friendly way!). Their findings, published last week in the journal Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, suggest that experiencing cuteness sends many people on a neurochemical roller coaster, with their minds’ attempts to balance themselves resulting in bizarre, intense displays toward tiny, helpless beings. This over-the-top response might serve an important purpose, though: to ensure that those of us who experience cute aggression don’t spend so much time cooing at a baby or puppy that we forget to take care of it.
When the University of California at Riverside professor Katherine Stavropoulos first became aware of a 2015 Yale University behavioral study identifying the phenomenon of cute aggression, she thought that finding its neurological basis might put scientists on a path toward better understanding the brain’s reward centers. “These are very cute things that you might want to approach. You might want to take care of them. You’re having very positive feelings—in fact, so many feelings that you’re overwhelmed by them,” she says. “To me, that sounds like a very, very active reward system.”
[Read: Puppy cuteness is perfectly timed to manipulate humans]
Stavropoulos used EEG caps to test brain activity as participants were shown a series of images of puppies and babies with varying levels of cuteness according to the theory of kinderschema, which are the set of traits, like big eyes and little noses, that human brains seem to be wired to find adorable. After each set of images, participants were asked to fill out a survey that inquired about, among other things, feelings of caretaking. The results were clear, Stavropoulous says: The brain’s emotion and reward systems are both involved, but cute aggression flared up specifically when the reward center was overwhelmed. The puppy’s tiny paws are just too much, on a chemical level.
If babies could take care of themselves, it wouldn’t matter so much that adults often experience paralyzing reactions to how adorable they are. Because babies are dependent on us for their wellbeing, though, it’s important on an evolutionary level that we’re able to snap out of it. That’s where cute aggression seems to come in. The surveys filled out by participants showed that the reaction was also heavily linked to feeling a caretaking urge toward a cute thing. That may indicate cute aggression is our brain’s attempt to balance an overwhelmed neurological response. “A baby can’t survive alone, but if you’re so overwhelmed by how cute it is and how much you love it, then you can’t take care of it and that baby won’t survive,” she says.
Oriana Aragn, a Clemson University researcher who authored the 2015 Yale study first identifying the phenomenon, agrees that emotional balance is a potential cause of “dimorphous expression,” which is any emotional response that can present in two distinct ways. “When people express this way, they seem to come down off that intense event,” she says. “Their intensity seems to drop faster than people who aren’t doing cute aggression.” The quicker a caretaker returns to a state of emotional stability, the better the odds that a small, vulnerable thing won’t experience a significant lapse in having its needs met. If that means I need to smush my dog against my face, so be it.
On a behavioral front, Aragón says that there are also some other potential explanations for cute aggression. “The appetitive side of the reward system is about that forward momentum, the antsy feeling, the pursuit, the urge,” she told me. “So it could be that when we see this aggressive expression, it’s an expression of that urge. It’s showing that you want to get to the baby.” The clenched-jaw, clenched-fist look of cute aggression is warning everyone that you intend to squeeze the small, cute thing.
In situations where it might be frowned upon to grab a baby that’s not yours, Aragón and her team found a different kind of dimorphous expression: a cute sadness, of sorts. “The ‘aww’ expression, with a downward-turned mouth and crumpled face, sends a signal to the baby and the other people that you just want to regard the baby, savor the baby, and take that baby in,” she says. The same process happens with other reward stimuli, like a good meal: At first, you anticipate it and you dive into your food, and then you sit back, slow down, and savor.
[Read: The politically subversive power of puppies]
According to Aragón, cute aggression is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to understanding dimorphous expression, which occurs in a variety of scenarios, like when someone is awed by the beauty of nature or overwhelmed by the thrill of victory. “Disgust and pain seem to have special properties about pulling away from the stimulus, whereas tears seem to be about stopping to savor, and aggression seems to be about the urge of pursuit,” she says. Research on emotion expression has historically been that of one-to-one correlations, Aragón says, so dimorphous expression represents a new phase in understanding how we socially negotiate our feelings.
Knowing how human brains generate these responses could have therapeutic potential, according to Stavropoulos, whose work frequently centers on people with autism. “There’s a lot of literature about people with autism having service dogs with huge success, or having horses they really connect with that help them understand the social world,” she says. “Maybe they feel the strong caretaking urge but don’t feel overwhelmed, and that’s a strength of theirs.”
Because caretaking is an essential element of human life, mapping the neurological events behind it could also help illuminate other notoriously difficult-to-treat problems like postpartum depression. Whatever the future implications, though, at least you now have a scientific explanation for any stray urges you may feel to jiggle a particularly chubby puppy.

Being Alone, Andrew Bogut, and Animals: "My favorite thing about Majestic is how affectionate he is, and how he loves to give hugs and cuddle."His Former Owner MAJESTIC D 28588 RS. 64 LBS OF OY, NEUTERED &DREAMING Y, AT MANHATTAN AC TO BE KILLED - 10/24/2018 Majestic is only a youngster, but in his short life has been starved, emotionally abused, tied to a radiator, tied to a shower stall, and shuffled all around his former family till he didn't know what end was up. During all that time this gorgeous boy came close to, but never lost his hope. And though they tried to erase it, he has never lost his smile or his joy in life. He’s so friendly, outgoing and affectionate with people, and he was relaxed and playful with the many children he spent time with. As big and beefy as he is, bring on a little thunderstorm and he runs to the bathroom tub to hide. There is more of the cowardly lion than the kind of the forest in this big hearted super sweet boy, and he is a big marshmallow when all is said and done. In fact, when asked what her favorite thing about Majestic was, his mom said, “I love how affectionate he is, and how he loves to give hugs and cuddle.” Though Majestic is housetrained, doesn’t mind baths, and adores playing with toys, his revolving door homes, physical and emotional abuse mean that he needs to decompress and relax in a structured loving, home environment where he will finally have a routine he can count on and parents who treat him like a valued family member, and the treasure we know he is. Majestic is a wonderful boy, a sweetheart who clearly didn't deserve the trauma he suffered at the hands of an abusive family. Now Majestic dreams of a family who will commit to him forever and not have him tossing about like a ship at sea. He needs food, care, TLC, love, patience, kindness, and a happy ever after, not death. Not death after ALL he has been through, after his terrible rocky journey in his search for happiness. If you are an experienced foster or adopter in an adult only home, please hurry and PRIVATE MESSAGE our page or email us at [email protected] for assistance. You need to fill out applications with New Hope Partner Rescues to save his life. Volunteer Misha Barbour writes: “So sad to see Majestic back and now At Risk. What a long, bumpy road he’s had in such a short life. Roads like that are paved with good intentions, unfortunately. I’ve not been able to interact with Majestic since his recent surrender but in May (after his first surrender) I found him to be just lovely. There’s a good pup in there, one who hopefully has the chance to fall at last into the right hands. Hands that can help undo what damage has been done.” Majestic, a cute little meatball! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBWuSojVbLQ&fbclid=IwAR0UjSsO1_6e4OpZtKl5iUEXuqmFme08Hol0eBdQEvHG04vRHVGLLaF2GmI&app=desktop MAJESTIC, ID 28588, @ 2.5 Yrs. Previous owner received Majestic from her brother and has had him for approximately 5 months. Majestic has no injuries or health problems and was last seen by a vet a month ago. He previously lived with 1 adult female and a 12 year old child. Around strangers Majestic is said to be friendly and outgoing. Majestic is said to bark to get people’s attention for pets. Majestic has previously spent time with children ages 12, 7, 8, and 5 and was said to be relaxed and playful only showing aggression when food or toys are involved. It is unknown how Majestic would be around other dogs or cats. Finder described Majestic to have resource guarding when it comes to his food or toys being touched. Majestic will growl when his food, foodbowl, toys or treats are touched or taken away Majestic will growl when pushed or pulled off of furniture. Bite History: Majestic bit owners 13 year old daughter approximately 3 weeks ago. Food was on a chair in a drawstring book bag. The owners daughter went to grab the bag to move it away from Majestic and Majestic growled and bit the girl on the right hand multiple times. Just before the bite, he growled. Majestic bit owners daughter 5 times and then let go. The bite broke skin and produced red marks and scratches. The daughter’s hand was washed, but she did not go to the doctor. Majestic is housetrained and has a high energy level. A period of decompression is recommended to allow Majestic to acclimate comfortably to his new environment; force-free, reward based training only is advised when introducing Majestic to new and unfamiliar situations. Consultation with a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly recommended for guidance to safely manage/modify any behavior Majestic presents with outside of the care centers. Potential challenges: : Resource guarding,Multiple-bite history/risk of future aggression Potential challenges comments:: Resource guarding: Majestic is reported to guard his food, toys, and objects he considers value, growling over them. When a bag containing food that was near him was moved, he bit the owner's daughter's hand five times. the severity of this behavior is not stated. For this reason, we advise against ever removing items from Majestic's possession without safely trading for an item or greater or equal value. Guidance from a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly recommended to aid in safely managing/modifying this behavior in a new home environment. Multiple-bite history/risk of future aggression: When a bag containing food that was near Majestic was moved, he bit the person's hand 5 times. This displays a lack of bite inhibition from Majestic, and if he bites in the future it is possible it will be with the same intensity. A Dream, Being Alone, and Andrew Bogut: ***TO BE KILLED 79/18*** CHUNKY CUTE DOG ALERT! MEET OREO POPSICLE! A staff member writes: Popsy (his nickname) is so calm that even a little old lady can walk this chubby hunk. He's more of an ambler than a strutter. He stops often to sniff, sniff, sniff. But this meticulous curiosity is more intellectual than physical. It does not translate to chasing squirrels or pulling towards other dogs. He really just likes storing information in his brain. And one of the most important information Oreo Popsicle will store is how much he will enjoy leisurely walks with you. He also enjoys being petted, but he is dignified about displaying his pleasure. No wiggly wormy antics for this gentleman. He liked it when I sat down on the turf beside him. He showed his appreciation for the walk and the petting with gentle kisses. Popsy brings to mind lazy afternoons chilling on the sofa or at a park. So if Oreo Popsicle is your jam, come on down to the Manhattan Care Center and take him home with you. A volunteer writes: We all agree...Oreo Popsicle is wondrous! We all love him! A smooth operator he is, an easy peasy pooch to walk and spend time with. A great lap dog and the sweetest and gentlest kisser. He owns a most beautiful smile and sometimes, his eyes get that naughty streak. It is so cute. Walking Oreo Popsicle is a dream! He goes nicely down (and up) the stairs and strolls at a promenade speed. Oreo is so tolerant, too! I dressed him up, put various bows around his neck and even a mini hat on his head! It was like playing with a doll!! He does run after a ball, catches it and brings it back to my feet. He also gives paw after a few prompts. Oreo Popsicle is with us because of landlord issues. He lived with his owner and 7 little dogs. Oreo Popsicle will make once again a great friend if you decide to have him join your family!
