First Kiss
Characters: Edmund Pevensie x Reader (p.s. You wear reading glasses in this fic)
Setting: Modern world, teen characters
Warning: ?
Summary: Basically, the title
*
For almost an hour, the window beside you seemed to be the most interesting part of the classroom. You watched as the water droplets embellished the window, and the soft sound of rain put your mind to sleep. That was until someone from behind tapped your shoulder, and you jumped slightly. Careful not to interrupt the teacher's lecture on the human brain, you turned your head quietly.
Your eyes met with his, and something inside your chest set on fire, spreading through your body chillingly. His unruly hair was now slightly sticking up, and you had the urge to fix it, but your eyes stayed fixated on his cheeky grin and twinkling eyes.
"Well, are we still working on our project?" Edmund stated quietly.
You couldn't help but smile, and roll your eyes. "Still at my place."
"Miss (Y/N)," a voice stated quizzically. "Would you like to tell me what part of the brain this is?"
You saw Edmund's eyes flutter close and he had his fingers set between his teeth to hide his grin, which barely worked.
You turned back to the whole class, who had their eyes on Edmund and yourself, to face the teacher with a lazily trimmed haircut.
Brushing a stray hair behind your ear, you averted your attention back to the board.
The teacher grunted before using his hand to point towards the diagram of the human brain. You adjusted your glasses and leaned forward slightly.
You paused before confirming the answer confidentiality, "The limbic system. It's set under the cerebrum and, well, it associates the human's courses of actions with their mood. There's different sections of the limbus system that determine specific qualities about the connection between actions and moods."
The teacher grinned heartily and continued on with the lesson, and a warm feeling of pride settled in your chest.
It was not long before the bell had signaled, that the students began to scurry out the door, trying to get out of the school as quickly as possible.
"Well, you two," the teacher stated to Edmund and yourself, both of you taking your time to pack up. "I expect your project to be the top grade. Don't let me down."
Edmund waited for you by the door as you packed your glasses away and began to search for your phone.
"I've got it with me," he chuckled, making me roll my eyes and drag myself towards him before snatching my phone.
"Don't take my shit, Pevensie."
He smiled before saying, "Lucy is asking about you, she wants to know when you'll visit her again."
"Soon," you stated, as you and Edmund opened the door to the exit and stepped out into the soft rain.
The school grounds were still occupied with students loitering around. Some were waiting for their siblings and friends, some for the bus, and one pair of students were making out in the middle of the rain, in the middle of the teacher's parking lot.
You couldn't help but imagine yourself with Edmund being there, doing that. But you quickly brushed off the thought to avoid the blush on your cheeks from spreading. Your feet picked up their pace and you walked past them as fast as you could.
Edmund took you by your elbow and stopped you. "Woah, Einstein, slow down."
You looked back at him, to where the soft rain was gracefully decorating his cheeks and lips. You turned your eyes to the grey sky and the rain began to harden.
Turning to Edmund, you stated, "We're taking the bus."
He sighed. "Of course we are."

"Do you have anymore of the Reece's pieces?" Edmund called out from the kitchen.
The sound of rain outside was overpowering as you attempted to answer back. "Second last shelf, left hand side!"
After a few moments of silence he called out again. "Got it!"
You rolled your eyes and continued to edit your project, tiredness about to consume you whole.
It's been an hour since you and Edmund were at your house and your parents still haven't arrived back from work. Every part of you was extremely thankful because you just wanted to spend time with Edmund; no interruptions.
You and Edmund had become friends solely on the basis of this major project for psychology. Before a semester of being friends, you had a small school-girl crush on him.
Now, you were absolutely smitten by everything he does. Dangerously, nearly the only thing on your mind was Edmund Pevensie.
But he wouldn't want to go out with someone like you, you thought. There's girls that a prettier, less nerdy, more funny.
There was a knock at your door that caused you to jump and adjust your glasses. "Yeah?"
Edmund entered the room with a bright packet of Reece's pieces in his hands, handing it over to you to share. You smiled and turned away from the keyboard as he sat down on your bed and you began to eat. Your eyes drank in his soft features, the way his freckles decorated his face and lips were always prepared to pull up into a smirk.
He patted the spot next to him, shuffling over to make room for you. But you didn't move, the dooming thumping of your heart would give yourself away if you sat next to him. Instead you turned back and continued to edit the assignment.
"(Y/N)," he stated. "Take a break, you've been editing it almost twice over."
"I need to make it perfect," you attempted to say smoothly.
"Sit next to me."
"Give me a minute-"
"(Y/N)."
You stomach sank as you turned back at him, his eyes focused on yours. Rolling your eyes, in an attempt to distract him from your nervousness, you settled on the bed next to him.
The next few seconds was just you two, eating and laughing at weird noises the other would make.
"Hey, Pevensie," you chuckled half-nervously.
"Yes?"
This was your moment, just get it off your chest and move on. It's alright if he doesn't feel the same way, even though it'll shatter your heart.
"Um," you began, pushing your glasses further up your nose. "Well..."
Before you formed a sentence, you removed your glasses and placed them into your lap. A nervous huff of laughter escaped your lips as you tried to settle your beating heart.
And at that moment, when Edmund asked you that single question, everything (even the rain outside) fell silent.
He asked quietly, "Can I kiss you?"
Before you could take in a breath, he placed a hand on your cheek and smiled softly.
The only words that could escape your lips was, "Are you fucking around with me?"
A moment of silence passed between you and in your mind, nothing was functioning. Was this happening? He didn't shake his head, but he leaned closer. "Can I kiss you?"
You didn't nod, you didn't shake your head, and you didn't speak. It was the most blissful silence. And when you closed your eyes and leaned in, something bursted inside of you.
Your lips met, and that heat that started from your chest grew and spread. He titled his head and pressed a hand softy behind your head, pulling you closer, and you loved every minute of it.
You broke off the kiss, your heart aching for more but you had to breathe. "Fuck," you muttered.
He smiled. "We're not there just yet."
You smacked his chest and guided your hands around his neck, leaning in once more. You breathed him in, the taste of Reece's pieces on his lips caused you to sigh. He opened his mouth, and you did the same.
The world that was once around you didn't exist, it was just him, his taste, the way his teeth softly bit down on your lip. It took every fiber of you to not react weirdly, to play it off as if it was normal. But you were melting inside.
When you were moving into his lap, he broke off the kiss. "Who's kissed you before?"
"No one," you muttered, flustered.
He frowned. "Really?"
You leaned back and moved off of him, the urge to kiss him was growing, but you backed off. "Yeah, I mean, who wants to kiss a nerd?"
He paused and intertwined his fingers with yours. "Well I mean, if nerds kissed like that..."
You grinned. "I thought I was doing terrible."
Edmund laughed and pressed his forehead against yours.
He kissed your lips once more, chastely, and with patience. "...You're amazing."
You bursted out with laughter and leaped onto him, causing him to chuckle and fall back. He placed your glasses onto his face, as you dug your face into the crook of his neck and laughed again; while he was busy lazily kissing your hair and cheeks.
