i am once again in the unity VR development hole (although with a very different focus this time) and man there really needs to be a better way to do rapid testing with this. i have to take the headset off to go back to the editor and put it back on when i want to actually try something out. additionally the headset sort of 'sleeps' when it's not on your head so you can't, like, wave controllers around while looking at the editor. UNLESS you cover the little light sensor in the headset that it uses to determine it's on your head. i've seen a couple of tutorial guys have a literal piece of opaque tape over the sensor and i should probably do that but either way it's annoying and cumbersome
technically the APPLE VISION PRO fixes this problem in theory with its AUGMENTED REALITY DESKTOP TECHNOLOGY but: lol
#my bad hot take is that the vision pro is genuinely technically impressive in certain ways#like i was very dubious about the gesture tracking and that seems to work reasonably well#and the passthrough camera seems surprisingly decent#however that battery life is a non-fucking-starter and it's fabulously expensive#and i don't think there's actually as much demand for what they're offering as they think there is
