i know i signed consent forms and that ultimately i let myself be put into this situation but i’ll still be taking my psychiatrist to court for putting me on 3 medications (including one meant for a disorder i don’t even have) just to “treat” my depression and that have given me the worst migraines and vertigo of my life to the point that i had to get an mri just to make sure i didn’t have a tumor

As a fellow skin picker, the things that help me may sound a little silly. Stim toys, long sleeves and high collars, trimming or growing out fingernails depending on what makes you less likely to be able to use them, ignoring mirrors when I know there is a trigger. Gloves, sometimes. (Most recently I tried acne patches and the physical barrier was useful.) Also don't be hard on yourself, just keep your skin clean and treat your wounds (rubbing alcohol or hot water to sanitize, plus a tiny amount of whatever cut ointment you have). You probably have some of the same coping skills already but you aren't alone in this. I hope some of this can be helpful.
oh wow anon thank you so so much for taking the time to give me all this info seriously youre too nice !!! 😭😭🫶🫶
stim toys or having my hands be busy fidgeting with other stuff definitely helps (and ignoring mirrors as well, its something i do a lot to deal with my disphoria as well) but i had never thought about always keeping my nails short for this AND i especially had no idea about treating wounds and cleaning my skin :((( now i feel like its super important but id never thought about it/no one had mentioned it before :((( so really thank u so so much for all the tips and info im super thankful 🫂🫂❤️
its really nice knowing theres other people going through this and im not alone ^^

not that i doubt u but what kind of conversation with ur derm led you to discover hes a lesbophobe
i’m on accutane and with accutane every month you have to take a pregnancy test and use birth control, and he asked me what method of birth control i’m using at the start of my treatment and i explained to him that my method of birth control is being a lesbian and he said “ok so abstinence”… then every month afterwards he’d ask me if my method of birth control “was still abstinence” and i had a girlfriend during most of my treatment and i would be like no, i’m not abstinent, i’m just not having sex with men. and he would be like yeah you told me that and about half the time he would roll his eyes. it’s a small thing but annoying bc he would refuse to change his language and acted put out when i would correct him

i’m trying a new treatment for one of my skin conditions (keratosis pilaris) and will maybe remember to report back if anyone is curious. i’m trying the salycilic acid body serum from the ordinady bc i’ve loved their salycilic acid for acne - genuinely feels like a hack so good i cant believe no told me about it before

I found a website where you can type the ingredients of the skin product you're using and it tells you whether they're comedogenic or not and if there's an irritant in there as well. The site is in Spanish but I assume it can be easily translatable by your browser.
But it case it's not, I translated it for you
Tumblr media
Once you click Verify, it brings you to this page:
Tumblr media
The mildly comedogenic ingredients are in yellow, moderate in orange, and high in red. The irritating ingredients are in blue.
The two "warnings" on top are the conclusions the website reached, the yellow one says this product is potentially safe, except if the case my skin has a strong tendency to get obstructed pores. The blue one says it can be irritating, especially in sensitive skins (you can't see all the ingredients here, but the last one was parfum, which is an irritant).
The website also said products that have comedogenic ingredients are usually safe as long as those ingredients aren't within the 5 first positions on the list.
Disclaimer: I'm not a dermatologist nor do I know anything more than the average person about skincare, I'm just an acne sufferer who thought this could be of use to people like me. And I hope it is!!
Here's the link to the website
