in what style did you start to write (first person, third person, *-style or novel-style?), how do you create an oc? What are your steps for developing an oc?, what people make you happy when you see them on the dash? 🫶 have a good day!!

style — i’ve always written in third person. i don’t think i was ever in a community where they write in first, BUT! but. i definitely did encounter a lot of the *action* rp types back in the early days. you don’t see much of it anymore, or at least i don’t. the only first person writing i do is for the spider journals or any in character discussion!

oc development — oh god okay i think usually every oc starts with a concept. ocs rarely start with names or faceclaims for me, it’s always just a Concept of a profession or sliver of plot. for example, liam first started with the pitch of “spider-man variant” and from there there was tons of research and name searching and then faceclaim finding. research is a really big part of developing any oc (for me, but it should be for everyone too. do your research!). somewhere along the process, or even first, a pinterest board will be made where i can figure out aesthetics and personality. i dump a lot of ideas into the notes app and then from there it’s just a matter of willpower to keep writing them. i have some development guides (character templates— anon you know the packet) that i used to use to guide stuff, but i don’t really anymore

dashboard — honestly, while i’m sure you’re expecting a list of blogs tagged, i love everyone who comes across the dash. seeing all my mutuals brings me so much joy and i love the little updates everyone gives about their lives, or their rambles about characters, or some gif set that made them lose it. it is a very special treat to catch coma on at the same time so if there had to be any names it’d be @bledf1rst also @diaboluse @redhead-reporter @dereiserne @hauntrcss @pistoiet so maybe there’s a tiny list. this certainly isn’t everyone but seeing these few feels a lot like seeing old friends when the memories all come back and it’s easy to just talk!
