i have a love-hate relationship with shading vitiligo
normally in order to bring life to black/brown skin you use purple shades, but purple looks deathly on pale skins. so its like balancing a tightrope of red and purples. monochrome shading is the real mvp here for creating a bit of depth with kisses of purple and red. also look at all those layers lol.
time to add highlights and maybe a bit of bronzing...
im actually going to expand on why Ray has Vitiligo. A lil bit of worldbuilding will you. I've copied most of this directly from his oc Bio wip... it's rather vague but hints at how vitiligo is symptom of his failed nervous and immune systems and explains some medical history. It doesn't really go in depth with what the main disease is, so perhaps I'll nerd out another time lol
Most Desmondian species have a bundle of nerves that connect from their wings and tails into their nervous systems along the neck. These are often referred to as love glands, because when you hug your partner they tend to touch. It's a very vital part that can influence romantic attraction as it attaches directly to the love center of the brain.
Ray suffers from bond sickness. A rare condition. It weakens and causes rapid muscle loss. Once muscle is lost after the age of 25 it cannot be regained. It can cause fatigue. Additionally causes rapid pigmentation loss and sometimes hairloss.
This condition is tied directly to his species bondmarks. Bondmarks are the bundles of nerves that connect the wings nervous system to their main nervous system. These bundles of nerves travel directly up to hypothalamus. The part of the brain considered to be the control center of love. These bundles of nerves are highly sensitive.
The condition typically will only trigger itself with the loss of a friend, partner, or family member. Some individuals will go their whole lives without knowing and may pass a recessive gene to their children.
Ray's condition presented itself at age 20 upon the death of his lover Rajah. Initially he had red eyes, orange feathers, dark skin, and black hair. Upon Rajah's death Ray began to rapidly lose coloration and muscle mass while slinking into a deep depression for 6 months.
At age 23 he married his second spouse Daniel which momentarily stopped the loss of body mass and pigmentation for two years. When their marriage began to crumble the symptoms slowly returned. When Dani refused to move to Earth with Ray like initially planned so Ray may have a more hospitable lifestyle, and access to more diverse healthcare Ray completely severed their connection. Approaching 27 Ray lost pigmentation again, thus his blonde hair and pink eyes, but worked hard to maintain his muscle mass out of pure spite. This wave of pigmentation loss only lasted 3 months.
Scarlett, a later girlfriend, also causes Ray a third go around of pigmentation loss after assaulting him with a bite to his bond gland. Due to the emotional shock and trauma Ray experiences extreme loss of pigment in a matter of two weeks. A silver lining is that this incident helps advance research into the condition, but whats that really worth as you lose your personhood?

Workforce Paradox: Mental Health for Trauma?
Because the things we see, do and say in the workforce can be traumatic in the name of survival. --------
Here we go again! We're about to embark on a wild ride through the not-so-magical world of workplace mental health. Spoiler alert: it's a bit of a dumpster fire, but hey, at least we're talking about it now!
The Global Mental Health Landscape: A Tale of Progress and Paradox
While some countries are crushing it in the mental health game, the U.S. is still trying to figure out which end of the therapy couch to sit on. Let's break it down:
Global Success Stories
- In the UK, companies investing in mental health programs are seeing a £4 return for every £1 spent. Talk about mental health stonks!
- Some forward-thinking global companies are implementing innovative approaches:
  - Google offers "blue sky thinking" time for employees to work on passion projects
  - Unilever provides a global Employee Assistance Program and mindfulness training
The U.S.: Playing Catch-Up in the Mental Health Olympics
Meanwhile, in the land of the free and home of the brave, we're still struggling:
- Nearly one in five U.S. adults live with a mental illness. That's like if everyone in California suddenly decided to join a giant group therapy session.
- Workplace stress causes about 120,000 deaths in the U.S. annually. That's more than shark attacks, coconut-related injuries, and death by selfie combined! I'm pretty sure many have seen the unfortunate news of the worker who was found at her desk for a very well known banking brand, in the office, and had been there for enough time to warrant at least a wellness check that never happened. Whether it was a medical emergency or mental health crisis It really begs the question of if work is worth this much?
The Current State of Mental Health Investment
While some progress has been made, many companies still lag behind in providing adequate mental health resources:
- Only one-third of Canadian employers have a mental health strategy in place, and most are not measuring the outcomes of their investments.
- 70% of Canadian employees are concerned about the psychological health and safety of their workplace.
- Workers' comfort with discussing mental health with senior leaders has decreased from 37% in 2021 to just 19% in 2023.
The Work-Mental Health Paradox: When Your Job Becomes Your Therapist's Job Security
Work is supposed to give our lives meaning, right? Well, plot twist:
- 54% of workers report that work stress affects their home life. It's like bringing your annoying coworker home for dinner every night.
- Depression is a leading cause of workplace issues, with 55% of people citing work as a contributing factor. Congratulations, your job might be your depression's MVP!
Leading Causes of Mental Health Breaks
1. Workplace stress (shocking, we know)
2. Toxic work environments (like that one coworker who microwaves fish in the office)
3. Lack of work-life balance (because who needs sleep when you have deadlines?)
4. Burnout (when you're so fried, you start to resemble that fish your coworker microwaved)
The Impact of Trauma-Informed Approaches. A light in the darkness?
Implementing trauma-informed practices in the workplace can yield substantial benefits. Know that your workforce isn't just mentally drained, they have likely had to do many things in the name of survival and some of them may have had to be in the name of your company and if it is against their personal beliefs or morals, there was likely some internal trauma involved.
For Employees
- Increased psychological safety and resilience
- Improved sense of belonging and job satisfaction
- Better overall mental health and well being
For HR Departments
- Enhanced ability to support employees effectively
- Improved recruitment and retention of talent
- Reduced absenteeism and presenteeism
For the Organization
- Increased productivity and employee engagement
- Reduced healthcare costs and disability claims
- Improved company culture and reputation
Implementing Trauma-Informed Practices
To create a more supportive work environment, companies should consider the following strategies:
1. Provide comprehensive mental health training: Educate all employees, especially managers, on recognizing signs of mental health issues and responding appropriately.
2. Develop inclusive policies: Create flexible work arrangements and mental health leave policies that accommodate employees' needs.
3. Offer access to professional counseling: Partner with mental health professionals to provide confidential counseling services and support groups.
4. Foster open communication: Promote a culture where discussing mental health is encouraged and de-stigmatized.
5. Implement wellness programs: Offer initiatives that support overall well being, including stress management workshops and physical fitness activities.
6. Regular assessment and improvement: Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of mental health programs and make necessary adjustments.
The Silver Lining: Companies That Get It
Some companies are finally realizing that happy employees are productive employees. Who knew?
- 83% of US workers suffer from work-related stress. But for every $1 spent on mental health concerns, employers see a $4 return in productivity gains. It's like magic, but with fewer rabbits and more therapy.
Conclusion: A Call to Action (With a Side of Millennial Humor)
Listen up, corporate America! It's time to stop treating mental health like that weird cousin at family reunions. Invest in your employees' mental well being, or watch them Snapchat their resignation letters. Remember, a mentally healthy workforce is a productive workforce. And let's face it, we could all use a little less stress and a lot more time back in our lives to just live. We do not live to work, we work to support living.
So, let's make workplace mental health a priority. Because if we don't, the only thing we'll be crushing is our souls. And that's not a good look for anyone's Instagram feed.

50% Faster App Development: The Power of Partnering with Us
Tumblr media
It’s no child’s play to develop a mobile app, much less for a start-up. The pressure to deliver a high-quality product quickly, navigate complex coding challenges, and ensure seamless performance across multiple platforms can be overwhelming.
Limited resources and strict project deadlines, which usually hinder the process, make these challenges more difficult.
It could be the difference between getting a sound and user-friendly application launched before the market, or lagging behind competitors in any of today’s fast markets. However, this kind of efficacy achieved takes much more than just a good idea — a specialized team with the right experience and technical know-how will be required.
This is where our team comes in to make all the difference. Our vast experience in mobile app development for startups helps in smoothening out the entire process by overcoming hurdles to bring your app to the market faster and more effectively.
How Well Are You Versed with the Landscape of Mobile App Development?
Mobile app development for start-ups is now face to face with the changing times of upgrading technologies and user expectations in the fast and ever-changing digital world.
Building on top of that, cross-platform development has been at the forefront, with increasing adoption thanks to frameworks like Flutter. The unique fact is that Flutter is popular for enabling developers to create high-performance applications with a single code base, accelerating delivery at a cost that is about half cheaper.
Another principal trend involves increasing weight to Minimum Viable Product development (MVP development) . This is because the MVP approach allows startups to prove a concept by getting something to market quickly and subsequently collect user feedback about data-driven decisions to further iterate upon that product.
Instead, this underscores the need for an ultra-rapid development process so that startups can deploy their apps quickly and continuously refine them based on user feedback.
Common Challenges Faced by Companies
Knowing all these boons that the industry has experienced, mobile app development for startups should be a track walk but companies face numerous obstacles.
The major challenge, in this case, includes the technical complexities involved in developing a robust, scalable application that features the user’s expectations. Quite often, startups have insufficient technical expertise and resources; thus, grasping the nitty-gritty of app development feels very challenging.
The other important challenge is resources. Startups do usually work on lean budgets with smaller teams, affecting their ability to invest in the tools, technology, and talents they need. This sometimes becomes a limitation, slows down the process, and jeopardizes the quality of the app.
Finally, there is the pressure to need to iterate at speed. For relevance to any competitive market, a start-up needs to iterate on its app very fast. However, trying to balance speed and quality may have drawbacks for the user experience or app performance.
Mitigating these challenges requires a strategic approach and correct expertise, which is feasible through partnering with an experienced team.
Why Partner with Our Team? — The Smart Choice
Expertise and Experience
We possess substantial specialization in the niche of creating mobile apps for startups, hence when developing a mobile app we have considerable expertise and experience!

Mitral valve prolapse treatment aims to relieve symptoms, prevent complications, and improve the quality of life of people who have blood that leaks back into their heart’s left atrium. Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) occurs when floppy or excess valve tissue doesn’t close correctly. Instead, it bulges into the heart’s left atrium, causing mitral regurgitation. Mitral regurgitation is when blood leaks back into the left atrium through the prolapsed valve. Many people with MVP don’t experience symptoms, but treatment is necessary for those who do. Let’s cover mitral valve prolapse treatment strategies, including medications and surgical options. Mitral valve prolapse medications Medications are often the first line of treatment for mitral valve prolapse to manage symptoms and prevent complications. These may include: Beta-blockers: Beta-blockers reduce the heart rate and blood pressure, decreasing the heart’s workload. This relieves symptoms, like palpitations and arrhythmias — also known as heart rhythm disturbances. Diuretics: Also known as “water pills,” diuretics help reduce fluid buildup in the lungs or legs by increasing urine output. This helps ease pressure on the heart and reduces swelling. Heart rhythm drugs (antiarrhythmics): These medications help maintain a normal heart rhythm by correcting arrhythmias. Blood thinners (anticoagulants): Blood thinners prevent blood clots, which can be a complication of mitral valve prolapse. Anticoagulants reduce the blood’s ability to clot, reducing the risk of stroke. Antibiotics: Sometimes, a healthcare professional may prescribe antibiotics to prevent bacterial infections that can affect the heart valve, especially before invasive medical procedures. Additionally, doctors often prescribe angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) to treat mitral regurgitation from MVP. Potential side effects of medications for mitral valve prolapse As with any treatment, medications used in mitral valve prolapse treatment may cause side effects, such as: low blood pressure (hypotension) slow heart rate fatigue gastrointestinal disturbances electrolyte imbalances dizziness allergic reactions bleeding If you notice any unusual side effects, speak with a doctor to ensure you receive proper management and a possible adjustment to your treatment plan. Mitral valve repair surgery Mitral valve repair surgery involves fixing the existing valve to ensure it functions correctly. Healthcare professionals often prefer this procedure over valve replacement because it preserves the valve and heart function. The surgery typically involves techniques, like stitching torn valve leaflets, removing excess valve tissue, or reshaping the valve, to improve its closure. Potential side effects of mitral valve repair Possible side effects of mitral valve repair include: infection blood clot formation bleeding stroke irregular heart rhythms Mitral valve replacement surgery When a repair isn’t possible, a cardiologist may recommend mitral valve replacement surgery. This procedure involves replacing the faulty valve with either a mechanical or biological valve. Mechanical valves are made from durable materials and can last approximately 25 years, but they require lifelong anticoagulation therapy. Biological valves from human or animal heart tissues, such as pigs or cows, do not require long-term blood thinners but may have a shorter lifespan of around 15 years. Potential side effects of mitral valve replacement If a cardiologist recommends mitral valve replacement due to severe mitral valve disease, it’s important to know the possible side effects that may occur. These may include: bleeding at the incision site infection within the new valve or at the incision site irregular heart rhythm valve malfunction blood clot formation Who needs treatment for mitral valve prolapse?
Not every person requires mitral valve prolapse treatment. Many people have no symptoms, and healthcare professionals may prefer the observational approach to monitor your health. It’s recommended that people without mitral regurgitation follow up with a doctor every 3 to 5 years, while those with mitral regurgitation should see a doctor once a year. However, treatment becomes necessary if you have severe symptoms, including significant shortness of breath, chest pain, or palpitations, as well as if you have: severe mitral regurgitation leading to heart failure atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) that can lead to blood clot formation, increasing the risk of stroke possible heart failure, with signs, like fatigue, shortness of breath, and swelling in the legs (edema) How effective is mitral valve prolapse treatment? The effectiveness of mitral valve prolapse treatment depends on several factors, including: the type of treatment your age the severity of your condition the presence of other medical conditions Medications can manage symptoms and prevent complications, while surgical options may provide long-term relief. With appropriate treatment, most people can expect an average life expectancy. Frequently asked questions about mitral valve prolapse Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about mitral valve prolapse. Is mitral valve prolapse considered heart disease? Yes, healthcare professionals consider mitral valve prolapse a type of heart disease that affects the valves of the heart. What should I avoid if I have mitral valve prolapse? One older study suggests avoiding stimulants, like alcohol and caffeine, which can worsen symptoms or lead to other complications, like heart failure. How serious is a mitral valve prolapse? While many people with MVP rarely have a serious case and don’t require treatment, those with severe cases may experience life-threatening complications, like heart failure and arrhythmias. What type of doctor treats mitral valve prolapse? Cardiologists are the primary specialists who diagnose and treat mitral valve prolapse. They may work with cardiothoracic surgeons if surgical intervention is required. Takeaway Mitral valve prolapse treatment aims to relieve symptoms and prevent complications through medications or surgical procedures, such as mitral valve repair surgery. Regular monitoring via echocardiogram is important for those without symptoms, depending on the presence of mitral regurgitation. Although treatment effectiveness may vary, with appropriate management, the outlook is generally good.

What Works and What Doesn’t: A Look at the Lean Startup Method
The lean startup method has transformed the way entrepreneurs approach building new businesses. It focuses on creating a minimum viable product (MVP), iterating based on customer feedback, and minimizing waste, this method aims to increase the chances of startup success. Lean startup, like any other methodology, has its strengths and weaknesses. In this article, we will explore what is lean startup method, what works, and what doesn’t in this method. For more articles visit Apac Entrepreneur.
Tumblr media
What is a Lean Startup?
The lean startup is a methodology for developing businesses and products, which aims to shorten product development cycles and analyze if a proposed business model is viable. The concept is to turn ideas into products quickly, measure how customers respond, and then learn whether to continue it or not.
What Works in the Lean Startup Method
Customer Feedback: One of the core strengths of the lean startup method is its focus on direct customer feedback. By engaging with customers early and often, startups can validate their ideas and make informed decisions. This approach reduces the risk of investing in a product that the market doesn’t want.
Agility and Flexibility: The lean startup method encourages agility and flexibility. Startups are advised to pivot when necessary, allowing them to adapt to changing market conditions and customer needs. This adaptability can be crucial for survival and growth in dynamic industries.
Minimum Viable Product: The concept of the MVP is central to the lean startup method. An MVP is a simplified version of the product that allows the startup to test its value proposition with minimal resources. This lean approach helps conserve resources, like time and money.
Build-Measure-Learn Cycle: The build-measure-learn cycle is a fundamental process in this method. Startups build a product, measure how it performs, and learn from the results to make informed decisions. It promotes continuous improvement through regular feedback loops.
Encourages Experimentation: The method promotes a culture of experimentation and learning. Startups are encouraged to test hypotheses, learn from failures, and iterate on their ideas. This iterative process fosters innovation and continuous improvement.
What Doesn’t Work in the Lean Startup Method
Misunderstanding the MVP: While the MVP is a powerful tool, its concept is often misunderstood. Some startups launch products that are too minimal, failing to provide sufficient value to attract and retain customers. It can also harm the startup’s reputation, making it difficult to regain customer trust.
Ignoring Long-Term Strategy: The lean startup method emphasizes short-term experimentation and learning, but some startups may neglect to develop a long-term strategy. Without long-term planning, startups may struggle to scale and sustain their operations.
Overemphasizing Speed: This method focuses on rapid iteration and quick market entry can sometimes lead to an overemphasis on speed at the expense of quality. Insufficient testing can lead to products that are not fully vetted for bugs or usability issues.
Inapplicability to All Industries: The lean startup method is not universally applicable. Industries with high regulatory requirements, such as healthcare and finance, may find it challenging to implement rapid iterations. Also, hardware startups may struggle to adopt the lean approach.
Team Alignment Issues: Implementing the lean startup requires alignment and buy-in from the entire team. If team members are not on the same page, conflicts and misunderstandings can arise, hindering progress.
Conclusion
To conclude the lean startup method offers valuable principles and practices that can significantly enhance a startup’s chances of success.  Its emphasis on customer feedback, MVPs, agility, experimentation, and adaptability provides a framework for building a new business.  However, entrepreneurs must also understand and address the potential risks, such as misunderstanding the MVP concept, ignoring long-term strategy, overemphasizing speed, and team alignment issues. Overall, this method increases the likelihood of success by focusing on customer needs and continuously iterating based on feedback.

How does hydration play a key role in recovery?
Water is your ultimate recovery buddy! Proper hydration is vital for optimal bodily functions, including the healing process. Water flushes out waste products and delivers nutrients throughout your body. Aim for eight to ten glasses of water daily. Herbal teas are another excellent way to increase your fluid intake. Remember to avoid caffeine and alcohol as they can dehydrate you.
Are there resources for personalized advice?
While this information provides a solid foundation, everyone's needs are unique. Consult your healthcare provider for personalized dietary advice tailored to your specific health conditions. Additionally, reputable clinics often offer comprehensive post-procedure care guides, including detailed nutritional recommendations. For instance, Clinique Vasectomie provides a valuable post-procedure care guide: [Link to Clinique Vasectomie's post-procedure care guide].
Should I prepare my diet before the vasectomy?
While anxiety might be a bigger concern, pre-vasectomy nutritional preparation can be beneficial. Aim to be well-nourished and hydrated leading up to the procedure. This provides your body with a strong foundation for recovery. You can find more information about nutritional preparation for your vasectomy on the Clinique Vasectomie website: [Link to Clinique Vasectomie's vasectomy preparation page].
Are there any foods to limit during recovery?
While there are no long-term dietary restrictions, some suggest limiting spicy or acidic foods for a short period after the procedure as they might irritate the incision site. This is temporary and shouldn't be a major concern.
Remember: By following these nutritional tips, you're actively supporting your body's natural healing process after a vasectomy. A healthy diet not only aids physical recovery but also contributes to your overall well-being during this time. For a smooth and speedy recovery, prioritize a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients and stay well-hydrated.
Bonus Tip: Consider adding a section on healthy and easy meal prep ideas suitable for post-vasectomy recovery. This could include suggestions like protein smoothies, lentil soup, baked salmon with roasted vegetables, or chicken stir-fry.
