Mi Nina Bonita, you know where your name comes from? You ever hear of Chino y Nacho? No, I say. You need to read more. They’re famous. Everybody knows #ChinoYNacho. They sing #reggaeton. You’ll like it. I send to you manana. The next day I receive a link to a music video by Chino y Nacho called, #MiNinaBonita Mi Madre became an iPad addict pretty quick. Searching YouTube videos of her favorite musicians like Whitney Houston, John Denver, Celine Dion, and her latest discovery, Chino y Nacho. She used to write me letters on looseleaf filled with Spanish proverbs like “las paredes oyen” which means the walls have ears. It was when she thought I should be more discreet about my affairs. Another was “no hay rosa sin espinas” which translates to there exists no rose without thorns. It’s when she wanted me to understand that all happiness comes with some pain, not everything in life was going to be perfect. Today, she sends me her messages through #YouTube songs. Like Chino y Nacho’s song, “Mi Nina Bonita.” It was to tell me where my new name came from. Part 3 of Mi Madre up at #muthamagazine https://www.instagram.com/p/ClQ5F0CuDc3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

New Book: Reign of Crumbs
I'm excited to announce a new book: Reign of Crumbs, published by Kilgore Books.  You can read and hear all about it on the Kilgore Kickstarter, along with the other books in Kilgore's Spring line-up.  Supporting the Kickstarter will help get all these books published--don't wait!
Reign of Crumbs is 76 pages of brush pen drawings about my family over the course of year's worth of kids' antics and bedtime conversations.  Several of these cartoons have appeared on Muthamagazine.com

Part 2 of Mi Madre #comic is up at #MuthaMagazine. I have so many fond memories of my mother growing up. From plucking roses from neighbor’s gardens to spiritual rose baths to going to Botanicas to refresh her shrine to watching her feverishly trying to scratch Lucky Scratch Offs so we could live the dream. Check it out!! #motherlove #missher https://www.instagram.com/p/Ckmh_9hO0Pj/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
