Great news 🎉 I'm thrilled to announce that the artwork "The Rooms" I created for the illustration exhibition #BADTASTE2022, which @meetthekawan curated, has received a Merit award from @hiiibrand ! Furthermore, the illustration "Museum Pests", on which I collaborated with my friend Sylvia, received a nomination. These works will be published in an online gallery and exhibited in cities throughout China. About Hiii Illustration Hiii Illustration 2021, or The 9th Hiii Illustration International Competition, opens to all illustrators, creative professionals and agencies, teachers and students worldwide, aiming to discover and reward outstanding illustration talents and works from all over the world, in an effort to advance the global development of illustration. The competition has four categories: A-Commercial, B-Publishing, C-Children's Book and D-Uncommissioned. In all, it has received 4,306 entries from more than 60 countries or regions around the globe, and after three rounds of rigorous evaluation, 578 (13.4%) of them made to the shortlist, and 185 (4.2%) are awarded. What do your insect traps look like? It's ok if you just can't tell. All bugs look like potential threats when you first start off learning about integrated pest management. To start you off, you don't need to get down to species level. You can ask for help and categorise them like this: - Yes Pest. Check @museumpests website to help ID. - No Pest. Accidental visitor that won't harm collections, but would be good to figure out how it got in here. If this got in, real pests can do it too. - No Pest. Regular inhabitant predator (e.g. spider). Don't worry, but maybe intensify cleaning if possible. - No Pest. Humidity indicator (e.g. springtails and woodlice). Certain insects will like very humid environments so finding them means you probably have a humidity issue to resolve. . . . ___ Follow for more memes and bite-sized useful information you can use to care for collections!

Museum Pests is an illustration project commissioned by my friend Sylvia Haliman, an objects conservator who is working in heritage conservation.
