Armbands with Scarab Decoration Part of the treasure found in the royal necropolis at Tanis, found along with Pharoah Psusennes I and two other late period pharaohs (21st-22nd Dynasties) whose burials were found more or less intact at the site of the ancient city of Tanis to the north-east of Egypt's Delta region. The country was divided during these reigns and the burials were nowhere near as rich as the more famous 'intact' burial of Tutankhamun, but nonetheless yielded some spectacular finds. Psusennes I along with his successor Amenemope and predecessor Shoshenq II were buried in chambers beneath the paving of the temple of Amun in Tanis, where they lay forgotten until their rediscovery by Pierre Montet in 1939. Montet's discovery was the greatest find in Egypt since Tutankhamun, but its excavation on the eve of war in 1939-40 meant the find never received the attention it deserved. The Egyptian Museum in Cairo contains the World's greatest collection of Ancient Egyptian antiquities, covering all periods of Egypt's rich history from the Pre-Dynastic, Old, Middle & New Kingdoms all the way to the Greco-Roman era. #osiris #temple#god#isis#sobek #egyptian#egipto#egypt#egitto#pharaohs#faraones#tutankamon#dinastía#artegyptian#artegypt#anticoegipto#ancientegypt#museodelcairo #egiptologia#egyptoloyi#Giza#museoegizio#museoegiziotorino#metropolitanmuseum#britishmuseum #museoegizio #amazingegypt#metropolitan#britishmuseum#neuesmuseum#museumcairo (at Egyptian Museum) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_wGrV4hlMR/?igshid=17au9bv3f10n9
