the shapes and lines morph along her page as she takes selfish glances back toward jayce. shori smiles as the lines come together to form the crease of his ear, the sketch was close. the delicate shading of his eyes took her words as the drawing ever so slowly begin to gaze back. his voice shakes her from the page. he was talking to her.. HE WAS TALKING TO HER!

her pencil moves to the angelica's and aster's blooming around the edges of her sketch of him. through her art she could speak. Angelica's for inspiration and aster's a symbol of love. ah, one's first muse. her gentle smile deepens as she begins to speak.

" you know...ever since i'v been able to draw, i'v always drawn flowers. they're just.. incredible things. they have their own language but only through art, through us. and the colors they come in ! the most vibrant shades of anything you can imagine. we'd honestly be here all day if i got into petal shapes. " her voice is bordering on giddiness before she catches herself ranting.

Granted, this was neither. Her voice isn't necessarily loud — but in the fragile, ice-thinned way things have gone quiet, it's about as loud as weight crunching through said silence. He freezes, trying not to move much as he scoffs out a laugh. Curious, but figuring she was almost done, he returns his attention back down to the journal he'd had in his hand, cradled along the inside of his open palm. Thumbing along the page, seconds tick on by, each moment passing punctuated with the scratch of her pencil.

❝ So . . . ❞ He drawls, peeks over from the edge of his vision, careful not to move his head or tilt it too much lest she tell him to stop again. The quiet is too distracting now that he’s aware of it, snapped from his early focus as he’d been. But it’s not a bad thing, only . . . His attention drifts elsewhere for the moment, interest hooked far from the pages of half-scrawled sketch work & notes scribbled in his book. ❝ What're you drawing anyways? ❞

Not the best conversation starter, hell not even a good ice-breaker, but he's amused, willing to indulge & play along a little while longer. He just isn’t sure how long she’s been sketching or how long until she’s finished. Hopefully not much longer.
