Seteth didn’t know the specifics of what had transpired in Rhea’s private chambers, but he knew the archbishop well enough to guess. Rhea tended to wear her heart on her sleeve, and she made no secret of thinking of Araceli as a second chance to regain what was lost. And when she’d viewed someone or something like that, Rhea tended to get emotional, which meant, inevitably, she’d err.

Well, he’d heard shouting earlier, and the slam of something being broken. That confirmed that, indeed, the proverbial bomb had gone off. He’d caught a glimpse of Araceli’s face when she’d hurriedly left; her expression was enough to deter him from speaking to her at that very moment. So, he’d waited a few days for the two of them to settle down, and he’d arranged to meet with Araceli in private.

“I’m sorry for what happened between you.”

“I called you here not to discuss it, but to check on you. I realize that the archbishop’s sense of tact is ... lacking, on occasion. How are you holding up? A foolish query, perhaps, but it must be asked. Please, be honest.”

ON OTHER FIRE EMBLEM GAMES: i am most familiar with three houses, thracia, heroes, and awakening but have a general grasp on most of the other games. it can only take me so far, though. for games/characters i'm not too familiar with, i hope you don't mind if i ask questions!

PORTRAYAL NOTES ( NOT SPOILER FREE) (IT'S BEEN FIVE YEARS)

it has been 3 years since flayn was last here, so i understand that it may be confusing to have her suddenly drop in with all of the progress she's made. the explanation i have (detailed more in this post) is that she has been on a holy mission around fodlan this whole time.

my interpretation is based mainly on her in academy phase, once you've recruited her. so you can assume she has already been kidnapped and rescued and all that jazz.

three hopes revealed to us that flayn is prone to overexertion due to her actions in the war. this was something missing from my old interpretation that i'll be integrating into things i see fit.

people who know seteth may also be familiar with flayn; students of the blue lion house should also be familiar with her (and she will be similarly familiar with them) so you're free to skip the pleasantries and go straight to action. for ease of interaction, i assume that our muses have been introduced to one another in mission threads or settings that are official school business (i.e. an assignment), but do let me know if you prefer otherwise.

flayn is a nabatean, and while fellow dragonkin (or even particularly nosy humanfolk) may sense or suspect something up with her identity, it's a fact that won't be explicitly known by people who aren't seteth or rhea. so even if you and i know who she really is, your muse won't. having her reveal this to other people is not out of the question, but will take a long time and lots of trust.

similarly, her identity as seteth's daughter should be secret to everyone except for her, seteth, rhea, and other nabateans. so your muse wouldn't know the true nature of her familial relationship with seteth unless she says so (but this is something i feel she has less reason to reveal, as it implicates seteth too)

Do you have characters or types of characters you don’t think you can handle writing, but wish you could? tbh my indie has a wide range of character types and I try to not write characters that are too similar. However, I guess I tend to not write types that are Too extroverted

What kind of scenes, situations etc do you believe you enjoy writing the most? I enjoy all types but I suppose very emotional scenes are fun for me, whether it's angst or positive emotions

Do you have any scenario in mind for your muse(s) that gets you thinking “man I hope I get to write this one day”? for Mikoto, I just want to write her with her children and also, tbh, finding a new love haha I'm in no rush for it but it'd fun if it happened. Help this wouldn’t leave my head: Yuri’s toddler of a daughter gives him a makeover using his makeup. What shenanigans ensue, nonetheless how Yuri’s spouse reacts to it?

No one would have ever pegged the mischievous and mysterious Yuri Leclerc for a family man. But that was before he fell head over heels for the Archbishop of Fodlan.

He was enchanted, and it was a wonderful thing. You looked up at him with such adoration in your eyes, and he returned it ten-fold…sometimes with an actual, genuine smile (and in public, no less).

So even with the surprising shift in his demeanor, what pleasantly surprised evryone was the arrival of the young couple’s daughter.

The baby was perfect in every way, and both parents were absolutely enraptured by her. It was incredible to watch the aloof Yuri become a doting husband and father. Especially when she started to get a mind of her own. 

Her first four years flew by, and it wasn’t long before she was running around the monastery, adored by everyone whose classes she crashed (until Uncle Seteth plucked her up and returned her to one of her parents with yet another stern reminder to keep an eye on her…and of course would be ignored).

But there was one day in particular that surprised even you.

And it started when you had your day filled with meetings and bureacracy, but Yuri had himself a day off. Which meant he would be taking care of the young Lady Leclerc on his own.

“Come, my dear. We have a full day ahead of us, don’t we?” He mused, all but scooping her up from her bed before she was even completely awake.

She yawned, a sweet, dopey smile on her lips when she realized it was her father peppering her face in kisses.

“Mornin’, Papa.”

“Good morning dearest one.” He hummed, “Did you know that you and I will have the whole day to ourselves? Well, once Mama gets dressed and ready for the day.”

“I absoluI didn’t know.” She replied with great surprise in her voice, eyes widening at the revelation.

Yuri grinned, tucking a curl of lavender hair behind her ear. “Then you should quickly come up with activities for us to do, today. We only have a single day to ourselves, so we must make it count.”

“What do you wanna do?”

“I will do whatever it is that my daughter wishes to.” He replied as smooth as ever, earning a fit of happy (if not slightly mischievous) giggles.

The pair returned to the ARchbishop’s quarters wswiftly enough, just in time to see you stretching in your seatbed, lazily propped against the pillows in a feeble attempt to get up.

“Mornin’, Mama!”

“There she is,” You smiled sleepily as your husband returned to the bedside, “Is today your daddy-daughter date with Papa?”

“Yeah,” She replied, briefly wiggling out of her father’s arms so that she could sit in your lap. You watched as she climbed in, snuggling into your arms. “But I didn’t know ‘til Papa woke me up.”

“So he surprised you with it? How very sweet of him!” You hummed, strokin gher hair softly.with a thoughtful smile. “And have you been plotting out hwat you’ll be doing with him?”

“I don’t know! He asked me the same thing!” She exclaimed, pointin gback at her dad.

Yuri chuckled, offering a lazy shrug, “Well, there are many opportunities for fun, my dear. We don’t have to come up with them right away.”

“True…you’ll have a full day of joy and delightfun while I’m trapped in meetings all day…it will be….much less fun for me.”

“Don’t worry, Mama. When you have a day off, we’ll have lots of fun, too.” She said sweetly, not knowing that her mother’s duties as Archbishop meant a day of was rarer than any other da in the yaer.

“Thank you pet.” You managed a pinched smile, which Yuri offerd a kiss to your hand and a reassuring grin.

“Fear It won’t be long before you have a day of your own. I’ll call in a few favors.” 

His promise was reassuring, but as a realistic former mercenary, it made more sense to bet on the opposite. There were some things that not even Yuri could pull off…and sneaking in a day off for you had been one of  years.

‘Well, don’t let me interrupt your day. I’ll be dressed and i’ll dress and be out of your hair so you can enjoy your time togther.”

“Thank you, Mama.” Your daughter beamed up at you, giving you one last hug.

Somehow, the two of you had managed to raise a perfectly sweet little girl.

It didn’t make any sense to you, personally, but you weren’t complaining.

Yuri saw you off with a similar barrage of kisses (though these were far more searing, considering he was head over heels for you). 

“All right, then- now that we’re finally on our own, what shall we do?” He wondered aloud, hands on his hips while his daughter bounced on the bed.

“We gotta get dressed too, so we can start our day!” She realized, pointing at him. “I can pick out your clothes, and you can pick out mine, Papa!”

“That is an excellent idea.” He agreed wholeheartedly, “I did raise a daughter with impeccable fashion sense, after all. Let’s get started.”

He led her to the dresser, and after careufl consideration from both parties, they settled on an outfit that Yuri would likely never set foot in public wearing. 

However, the love he held for his daughter transcended all sense of shame or embarrassment. Especially when he knew that the Archbishop alone would get to see this; and that you would likely find it adorable that your daughter wasnted to dress him so badly.

“Okay! You look amazing, Papa!” She decided with a happy grin, “Now you get to pick mine, right?”

“Yes, of course. We shall hurry to your room after I have put my face together; I was so excited for our day together I did not get even a little ready ebfore I woke you. How silly.” He mused, only to elicit a sharp gasp from the young girl.

The epipany had struck, big time.

��Papa!! Can I help you put on your makeup?!” 

“Can you help me…?” He trailed off, the situation suddenly becoming much, much more serious.

You weren’t ever allowed to touch his makeup, after all. It was very precious, very expensive, and something he took immense pride in being able to wear perfectly each day. To waste such an imporatnt luxury to him would be truly tragic.

Ad yet…when he looked into those big, round, sparkling eyes…

Who was he to refuse her?

“Very well.” He finally conceded, “I will allow you to do my makeup, this morning.”

“Thank you, Papa!!” She exclaimed, bouncing away from him and making a break for the washroom. “Oh, I can’t wait!! I’m so excited to make Papa pretty!!”

“I’m sure you’ll execute flawlessly.” He followed behind her, feeling quite proud of his daughter. She was awfully precious already, but when she got passionate about something, it was a sight to behold.

She would without a doubt be formidable once she got older.

The pair of them were in teh washroom for quite a long time; so lnog that they didn’t even realize that you’d come back to the bedroo. Your initial mission was to retrieve a number of important documents Seteth tasked you with reviewing overnight. 

What madeyou stay was hearing excited voices behind the washroom door, and the distinct sound of giggling that was notable only when she was scheming something with your husband.

Intrigued, the papers were temporarily forgotten, and you went to the door, knocking gently.

“Is everything alright in there? It sounds like something very important is happening.”

“Everything is fine, my love. Did you forget something?”

“Initially I did, but it sounds like you’re having a lot of fun, in there. Am I allowed to take a peek?” You heard them whispering back and forth, debating whether or not his wife and mother of his child should be given entry to their secret mission.

Eventually your daughter giggled, and you heard her little hand on the door knob.

“Okay, Mama. Papa said you can come in if you say ‘please’.”

“Very well…may I please come in and see what you two are getting into?”

The door swung open, and two lilac-haired faces were beaming up at you. Though one face looked…rather different from usual.

A hand went to your mouth, his eyeliner dragged across the sides of his face, well past his eye (and over and under it). His eyeshadow had become blush, and any other form of makeup he had stashed away had been applied to his face, clothes and anywhere his daughter could reach.

“I see you’re speechless.” He quirked a lopsided eyebrow, “It appears you did even better than I thought you would, my dear. Your mother’s fallen in love with me all over again.”

“You’re so pretty, Papa!!” She grinned, arms open wide, “You’re sparkly!”

“It appears you did use some of the shinier powders, didn’t you.” He mused, running his fingers along his cheek and finding the shimmering dust on them. 

She nodded vigorously, before throwing herself at her mother’s legs. “Did I do a good job?”

“Oh, my dear, you did a wonderful job.” Your smile was broad and sunny, making Yuri’s heart skip a beat. You were so lovely when you were happy.

Particularly when it was at his expense.

“Perhaps we should get him cleaned up before the day starts, though.”

“What? Why??”

“Because I’m afraid he’s so beautiful now, it’ll make everyone else jealous when they see him.” Your argument was sound and reasonable, making her gasp with the realization.

“You’re right!! He’s already pretty…we don’t want them to be jealous he’s even more pretty.”

Yuri pulled her back to his side, pecking her cheek with a big, purple-pink lipstick-y kiss. 

“Let’s do as your mother says, then. She’ll need a wardrobe change before she leaves us behind.”

“What do you- oh.” Your off-white Archbishop’s gown was now covered in the residual colorful powders that your daughter had caked herself in, her sweet hug accidentally coating you in a rainbow of makeup.

It was Yuri’s turn to laugh.

“All right, that’s enough fun for the morning. Come along my darlings, let’s get ourselves cleaned up. I’ll have a messenger inform the counsel that you’ll be a bit delayed.”

He wrapped an arm around your waist, and held his daughter to his hip, guiding the three of you from the washroom with sheer happiness giving him the sweetest glow.

There was nowhere he’d rather be than with his family.

Even if you were all smeared in makeup. 

(When Seteth saw what happened to the gown later that afternoon, Yuri received a harsh scolding).

Seteth wasn't often lost for words. He was known, among other things, for his sharp wit and even sharper tongue. Yet even he was taken aback by her sincerity. He can't help but smile back at her.

"It is nothing, Byleth. I meant what I said: I consider you akin to family. And I will neither betray nor abandon you."

Perhaps he'd been a tad cryptic when he proclaimed as much. In truth, he was worried that his fragments of knowledge of what she was, would do her more harm than good. But that didn't make his vow any less genuine. Her heart and soul were Nabatean, at least in part. And that was enough.

"Should you need anything, no matter how trivial, do not hesitate to call upon me."

"Family should be there for each other, should they not?"

Looking at some stuff for a plotbunny of mine, I incidently noticed this 

and in the jp version

With the expected differences in delivery and tones but bar that -

Rhea here is acting as if she knew what Jerry wrote in his diary, and is surprised her bro found out !

(Did she read it already, or knows what it’s about?)

I’ve already supposed during WC, in general (and after her Seiros the Warrior stunt), Rhea ultimately thinks the world needs Sothis, because she cannot guide it to prosperity like the Goddess most likely would.

Still, because Rhea hasn’t completely given up on Fodlan yet, unlike Lehran, she still cares and offers her help to everyone around.

Rhea felt “safe” enough, at one point, to abandon her hair dye and use her real hair colour (maybe her real name too?), even if that used to spell certain doom a thousand years ago.

And then, she read Jerry’s diary.

And learnt why Jerry ran away, because bby!Billy isn’t “natural” and how it made him afraid. Especially afraid of her, someone who saved his life, someone he knew and worked with and apparently had a good relationship with for at least 300 years.

Of course the game follows this course, the second Billy becomes green Rhea is more and more insistent on making them sit to bring Sothis, because red herring and all -

But what if Jerry’s reveal also participated in her general feeling of hopelessness and resignation, at how only Sothis can save the world now?

People might be seeking Nabatean parts for power (breaking in to steal Seiros’s bones and actually the SoC?), people knowing they can find “power” in Nabatean blood, people knowing her niece has “special blood”, gross experiments using Nabatean parts (demonic beasts, even if they are using artificial crest stones), old enemies resurfacing in her own home (Solon) and now, that.

It’s not the final nail in the coffin (i suppose kind of similarly to Dimitri, Rhea’s final moment of despair is the Holy Tomb, aka humans really seeking Nabateans parts for power + a Hresvelg!) but she grows more and more desperate, the probability of another Red Canyon happening grows higher with each passing month -

The world is going to fall, someone she thought she could call an ally died, and lo, that someone had never been her ally (at least not for the last 21 years) - she needs Sothis more than ever now and oopsies, her brother finally catches on her plans -

Imo she’s less pissed (lol) than surprised, but ignores him because from the moment Billy started to show signs of Sothis awakening, Rhea became an ostrich, putting all of hopes for a good resolution of the situation on what Billy represents - people know Flayn is a Nabatean and are hunting her for her blood? Seteth’s first reaction is of course to gtfo away, and hide again, because he knows what will happen if she stays, Rhea most likely knows it too - but it’s alright, because Billy is here.

Billy, who might or not be Sothis at this point (for her) is here so there’s no need to panic !

And yet, the world really start to spiral in a narrative she knows too well, a narrative she cannot stop (but doesn’t try to stop either?) and so she fuels all of hopes on Billy and the chapter 11 revelation.

With the added twist that unlike last time - when Nabateans were alone against Nemesis’n’pals - now she has allies, so maybe Zanado won’t happen and they have more “time” than what they thought...

But no, imo Jerry’s diary really hurts Rhea because it’s not like his death deprives her of an ally, but it’s more like Jerry’s diary reveals he has never been an ally to start with -

I know Rhea already knew Jerry found her “frightening”, but I don’t think it’s because he knew she was a Nabatean, more like she knew he thought she was stupidly strong, and sometimes has to act stern’n’scary befitting her role

Jerry finding bby!Billy not “natural” and running away from Rhea could only mean, imo, to her, that Jerry found out his baby wasn’t human and ran away from her, who isn’t human either. Unlike Willy and the Adrestians of back then, the second Jerry finds out she’s not “natural” like his baby, he bails out on her.

In other words, a person she thought highly of and respected/loved/called an ally/friend would have left her in a heartbeat (lol) if he ever knew the truth about her.

Ultimately, Jerry’s diary to Rhea, in the course of the game, cements the “we cannot trust humans because they will turn on us the second they know who they are” feeling she had 1k years ago - then dropped - then believed in again - then re-dropped.

Humans are out for their parts, Nabateans cannot trust humans -> only Billy as Sothis can save them now. 

That could explain why she hyperfocuses on Billy - beyond a mere wish to see her mother again - Billy/Sothis is the only person able to thwart a cycle that starts to replay itself and ended, last time, with the Red Canyon.

As for Seteth’s reaction...

He came to trust Billy, but wonders what they are, and asks Rhea what she did to Billy, unaware - at that point, that Billy is supposed to be Sothis.

When he finds out (after Supreme Leader’s stunt) he has his anwers, as expected, Rhea really tried to rez Sothis he is annoyed, but what is done is done but moreover...

Now understands what has been going on in her head, and how desperate she is (something she later confirms) and what she wished for, Sothis to bring order back to the “wayward land”.

Seteth accepts to help Billy - and it is revealed, given how deferent he is to them in SS and follows their choices, that he actually shares Rhea’s wish, maybe not to see Sothis return, but Billy, her avatar, to guide the land. Imo, given some of his own lines, Seteth too believes in a better world guided by Sothis, but unlike Rhea, even if he despairs at the current state of Fodlan with wars and what not, he isn’t yet at that point where he gave up on humans and Nabateans and a world where Sothis isn’t here - the second she appears (or her avatar) he undestands and follows her lead, but if she’s not here? He’ll try to manage and do his best for Fodlan...

Something Rhea did, but then stopped believing (or not? 12 vessels in 1100 years isn’t the sign of her being completely desperate, despite what we’re told) and believes again.

It’s kind of fitting with the Nin dev interview from 2020, Sothis is the Progenitor God to Nabateans, and they believe she can make the world go back on the right rails again.

However, Seteth still thinks/hopes/believes that even without her, Fodlan can go round, something Rhea doesn’t anymore, at least during that specific moment the game is set in, and before Billy receives their “revelation”.

Unfortunately, it is with much sorrow that I must let go of Lianna and Seteth. All of my teacher muses are being affected by my job as a teacher and my current mental state around the job doesn't help in the slightest. It would be best for both myself and my thread partners if I didn't try to hang onto three muses and just focused on one, which will be Thrasir, my non-teacher muse. Many apologies to all my thread partners, hopefully I will eventually have the mental space to pick them up again.
