Matt chuckled at her reaction to his words, as if Foggy hadn't caught them in the act several times. He nodded though, in agreement with her. "Yeah, Foggy there's not a single reason to be alone this year," he promised. In a way the idea of Foggy getting drug along with him was kind of comforting as Matt had yet to meet a large portion of Jenna's family.

"Maybe if you're there, I won't be the most awkward one in the room," he teased. It was a joke of course, and only for some light spirited fun. In a way, Matt was a little surprised at Karen's invitation for tonight, but he was thankful for it. Despite their past, he really did care about Karen. Just not in the ways she cared about him.

It wasn’t often Jenna went in to visit Matt in the office, he knew that Foggy would tease him relentlessly for it and that Karen wouldn’t enjoy any second she was there but Jenna just hoped the bag full of lunch food was enough to smooth things over for now.

Based on what we know about Daredevil: Born Again, this is how I think the storyline of the show will go:

1) Episodes 1-2: Takes place a few months/years before the present day. Bullseye somehow escapes prison and goes after Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk for revenge. During a fight with Matt, Foggy Nelson is killed by Bullseye, resulting in Matt savagely beating Bullseye and nearly killing him. Matt then officially retires from being Daredevil. This was what Matt meant by “a line was crossed”.

2) Episodes 3-8: In the present day, Matt is unexpectedly pulled out of retirement by Wilson Fisk. Fisk says that he’s trying to be a legitimate Mayor and part of the reason is that he’s trying to win back Maya Lopez. However, his campaign has hit a snag in the form of Muse. Muse is a serial killer who is terrorizing the city as part of his “art” and has made Fisk his latest target. Since Fisk’s men can’t stop Muse, he had no choice but to ask Matt Murdock to do it.

3) Episode 9: In the finale to the Muse arc, Matt manages to take Muse down once and for all. Wilson Fisk then officially becomes Mayor. In his first act as Mayor, Fisk initiates a series of anti-vigilante laws aimed at taking down all the street-level heroes. He claims this is necessary considering that the city was terrorized by Muse, who he frames as being no better than all the other vigilantes. Realizing that Fisk double crossed him, Matt goes on the run.

4) Episodes 10-18: Matt Murdock is being hunted down by the NYPD. Since the entire city has turned against him, Matt has no choice but to seek out Frank Castle/The Punisher for help. This last half of the show is centered on Matt and Frank trying to find a way to take Wilson Fisk down, as well as repeal the anti-vigilante laws. The duo are also joined by other street-level heroes, such as White Tiger who was announced for the series. Also, maybe Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel since Yusuf Khan is in the show, which is CRAZY considering the tone. Although if Kamala is in Born Again, the most TV-MA thing they’ll let her do is probably say “shit” or “ass”.

To Me both muse and matt are EXTREMELY white liberal coded

muse reads to me as one of those white liberals who constantly preaches about how inclusive they are and how accepting they are to minorities but then turns around and calls the cops on homeless people and poc. he's very much using his "anti-bigotry" for social capital while actively oppressing the groups he claims to support, and when confronted about it gets extremely defensive about how he's being "attacked" and how minorities should be grateful for his allyship and it can be taken away at any time if they aren't nice and thankful enough for his support.

i think it's clearest in his inhuman exhibit where he poses them doing mundane tasks to show that they are "human too", but he gets the inhuman bodies FOR the exhibit by literally murdering them. his support is entirely artificial and for his own benefit to seem progressive and gain points.

matt's white liberalism is i think most evident in the beginning of the run and he gets a bit better by the end.

here matt talks over sam, telling him to let daredevil (a white man) and matt murdock (a white man) to handle the problem. he talks over him and does not let sam into active work of taking down tenfingers in exactly the same way that white liberals love to ignore the voices and perspectives of the people harmed by the systems they claim to be against and excluding them from discussion and activism. i mean hes literally standing over sam in the panel, towering over him both as his mentor sure but also as a white man prioritizing himself in the discussion of a problem that affects sam, not him.

by the end of sam's arc matt is able to recognize that he does not and will never be able to fully understand sam's perspective, and asking sam to think for himself instead of telling him what to do.

The similarities between matt and muse and how they're two different species within the same genus offers what i think is a very interesting angle to view the sam-matt dynamic through, and a new perspective to sam's thought process when matt was in that hospital bed telling him he's giving up on daredevil.

And he doesn’t understand why but he guesses that can’t be a bad thing. But it doesn’t mean that Hell's Kitchen was a safe place if it was then daredevil wouldn’t be a thing.
