         #CARRD.  BONDS. SAVIOR. META. / #LILY 25+ SHE/HER!
independent  yuna of final fantasy x / x-2.
Tumblr media
ONE. i am private, selective, and drama free and have no patience nor tolerance for seeing hate, bigotry,  discrimination (transphobia, homophobia, racism) or any kind of inhuman behavior on my dash. my replies can fluctuate between fast and slow.  TWO. my primary exclusive ship is tiyuna and my exclusive tidus is aqua’s tidus, hauleni. we are embarking on this journey together as close friends wanting to expand on yuna and tidus’ relationship, world, and life together. that does not mean i am not open to antagonistic, familial, platonic, or other romantic ships, but the primary ship is with aqua’s tidus.  THREE. do not infomod my muse unless they are in spira, nor godmod or assume my muses actions. that makes me highly uncomfortable. i am extremely adaptable to all kinds of relationships but if your muse doesn’t know yuna? then get to know her by writing! she is not someone who will stay the same her entire life, as she says, ‘i will keep changing’. her core parts won’t, but who she is, will, as i want to firmly incorporate reality in my portrayals. FOUR. i tend not to follow duplicates unless they are close friends because it tends to cause bloodshed as i’ve noticed and experienced. i’m not here for petty drama but meaningful bonds, writing experiences and fun.  FIVE: all graphics on this blog were by aqua / mooglerph with some gradient touches, and i am eternally grateful to them!  SIX. i prefer plotted threads as opposed to random but if you give me a one liner i will find a way to work with it. all i ask is match passion for passion. i tend to lose interest if we aren’t equally interested.  SEVEN. there will be religious themes as yevon is bascially a cult and and also if there are any triggers on my blog ask me how you’d like them to be tagged.  EIGHT. not sure if i will do exclusives / mains beyond aqua’s rendition of tidus, but if you’d like to let me know. i tend to forget a lot of things but i am always going to interact with more than one version of a character save tidus.  NINE. psd template made by jayneedits. please do not take anything off this blog via inspiration, themes, or my headcanons. icon sources / bases by dressspheres. TEN. i usually prefer discord over ims, as i am focusing on the dash intently and will often take much slower in communication. but i am not against interacting there! just expect slowness.  ELEVEN. due to square enix not really realistically aging up / timing the journeys of ff in my honest opinion, my yuna’s ages will be different and not ‘aged up’ for shipping purposes but realism on my blog. for example the journey in x is approximately a year long and she turns 18. post last mission? she’s 21. a lot happens, and also it makes an already natural and innocent relationship between yuna and tidus to me if possible, even more meaningful.  TWELVE. do not underestimate yuna because she doesn’t physically fight. without bias i genuinely think her to be one of the most powerful heroes in final fantasy to date by will alone, and x-2 she only continues to temper her unyielding strength. she doesn’t need aeons to accomplish things that people with weapons do, nor her dressspheres in x-2. her core is like that of a diamond. absolutely and utterly unbreakable, which means you will find a very hard adversary if you do think she is only an ‘uwu soft voiced’ cutie. which she is cute! and lovely but, please don’t woobify yuna. she is a protagonist and a powerhouse of a woman and i will not sugarcoat that for anything. THIRTEEN. more when i think of it but by all means, if you can be patient with me, i promise to give you tons of adventures with one of my favorite heroes of all time. thanks for reading! drink water yeah?

HOW I RUN MY BLOG —
Tumblr media
SPEED.
★  - Variable.
Sometimes I’m fast as the speed of light and I get things to you so we can play back and forth all night long and other things the draft just sets there and collects dust for a while since my muse won’t let me think of what to do next.  Sometimes I have to re-read entire threads just to reply because things have sat for so long.
There are factors that contribute to this but I’ll get into that further down.
REPLIES.
★  - I normally write in Novella.
Longer replies are just how I function because I’m long winded and have a lot to say. The thing I normally tell my partner when I’m starting or it’s my first post and it became a monster of a book is. “Sorry, I had to set the scene.” I like to establish where things are and where the character(s) are.  I’m not shy about using NPCs in the least, and I welcome my partner to use them too. World building is important to me. Small details make it easier to reply. The more I have to work with the more Edward can react to, and that in turn helps keep the thread alive.
When I don’t know where my character is, and I don’t have much world building around them threads tend to die out simply because I don’t have a lot to work with.
STARTERS.
★ - Starter Calls are overwhelming.
I used to do starter calls, even on this blog and I always got a lot of reaction to it but because of that it would become overwhelming and then I end up getting people who have not discussed things with me on them and end up not knowing what to write. I tend to use memes more to interact with new people or I just write them something and tag them directly.
INBOX.
★ - It’s always open for all to use.
Mutual or not, please feel free to use both my inbox and my DMs to ask me or Edward whatever. I generally reserve my DMs for OOC conversation but there’s one person in mind who drags me into IC from time to time; you know who you are. -pointed look at bro-
If you have questions, or concerns please ask me. I’m happy to answer any of your questions. Sometimes I forget to write things out, and sometimes when I do write things out I forget words or flip things, thanks dyslexia, I’m trying.  I’m always here for clarification.
My inbox is open to all to speak with Edward however you want. If you want to use it to start IC interact just be aware I’m likely to move it to a new post because reblogged asks drives me insane. You can speak to him however you like, know that if you are rude to him he’s 9 times out of 10 going to bite back. If I feel you’re crossing a line I will likely block you from the ask without explanation or warning.  If you’re going to be a jerk, I don’t want you on my blog.
Teasing him is fine, but please read the room and learn to tell when enough is enough because more often then not I’ll write as much in my tags. I talk in them a lot.
SELECTIVITY.
★ - This is a non-private blog.
I will RP with most people who approach me to interact with Edward. I’m not very picky about how I write with as along as you can write well.  By that I mean, proper grammar, spelling and sentence structure.  I understand typos and late night posts being trash fires; happens to the best of us - but I just want the proper use of “They’re | Their | and There” to be applied - dialects not included.  ( Anything between quotations can be written however you’d like because it’s speech.)
I’ve stated before this blog is OC friendly. I have quite a few that I RP with and I love them all dearly but that’s normally because they have their OC so established it’s easy to interact with them. If things are confusing about an OC or a crossover character approaches me and I don’t know how that character would interact with Edward it’s hard to write something to start.  I don’t mind interacting with OCs because I see it no different then all the characters The Elrics have interacted with in the video games, however as the same with replies I need as much to work with as possible.
I also need people to have a basic understanding of the world they’re RPing and if they don’t, be it because they are an OC or a character outside of FMA’s fandom, please be willing to research and/or ask questions. I will do the same for you.
Lastly just because I am non-private does not mean I won’t tell you “No”. I am not obligated to RP with every person who approaches me and sometimes I just get overwhelmed. 99% of the time it has nothing to do with you, I simply am just overwhelmed and can’t handle more than I already have on plate right now.
WISHLIST.
★ - This is mun dependent.
A lot of the things I wanted to accomplish with this blog I have, and there are still things I would like to do yes, but most of the time I just want a really engaging plot. I don’t mind if my muse gets injured or hurt in plots because normally these things are being discussed OOC.
My biggest wish for this blog is that my fellow muns speak to me OOC. It’s easier to plot things, create stories and all around write together if I know something about the person I’m writing with, so please feel free to come talk to me.
HONEST NOTE.
★  - I’m a nervous person.
I spend a lot of my time wondering if I messed things up.  I have mental illness to deal with and my brain likes to lie to me a lot. So I get nervous and worried and I have to go do things to make my brain stop thinking about what my anxiety is telling me.  I love talking to people OOC but at the same time it’s hard for me to do it too. Some days it’s as simple as breathing and I don’t think twice about it and other times it isn’t.  When I’m quiet, I’m crashing or trying really hard not to.
This effects the speed of my replies. I used to have a really bad habit of getting so depressed I would fall off the face of the Earth for literal months on end because I didn’t know what to do with myself.  I don’t want anyone to deal with my issues, just know that they’re there. Sometimes I can be mean and harsh and I apologize for that. Sometimes it’s like I have two different faces because well I kinda do. Mania and Depression are hard to deal with and I get scared of people knowing too much about them out of fear of what they’ll think of me; because I get scared of being too much.
I’m sorry if that’s a lot to handle and I understand if people unfollow me for it but I believe in transparency because it’s not something I can get rid of but only control. I try to post OOC stuff to let people know what’s going on in my life when there’s a significant dip in my mood, and I apologize for all my disappearances. Please know I cherish all of you and I appreciate all the people that have taken the time to get to know me and Edward.

Vato Falman
Alright, here’s another prompt week! This is for @teammustangweek day 1- Vato Falman. I have made an attempt and we’ll see if I succeed in this. Warnings: just a little mention of blood. Not much but... y’know... just in case. Ok, well then please enjoy!
Vato Falman knew to expect the unexpected when he joined Roy Mustang’s team. He’d expected to be a part of conspiracies, deceitful acts, and even mutiny. What Falman couldn’t have foretold of the unpredictable was a child prodigy of an alchemist and his towering behemoth of a younger brother joining their ranks. Mustang had told them about the recruitment of a younger alchemist, and Falman had thought that he would be eighteen, maybe even seventeen if they played their cards right. He never expected a twelve and eleven year old to waltz into their group.
It may have been the first time Falman felt himself questioning if following the Colonel was the right thing to do. If they were starting to recruit children, then were they really helping their country? Was taking the negative outputs of the current state of Amestris and the repugnant turnout of the creation of a child soldier truly going to give them a positive solution in the end? A positive can be conceived from two negatives mathematically, but Falman had his doubts that it could be carried into their reality.
Nevertheless, past experience and logic dictated that Roy Mustang would only do what he believed was best to help their cause. If recruiting a child was going to get them there, then Falman supposed he’d have to continue giving his support. That being said, it didn’t mean he had to get to know the children either.
Falman never really developed good relations with children. They tended to find him boring and unpleasant company, and, quite honestly, the feeling was mutual. He was quite sure these new children, Edward and Alphonse Elric, weren’t going to be any different. And it appeared to be the Colonel’s wish for the boys to never stay long at the office, as he was always giving them some assignment or mission that was halfway across Amestris. They always came back, tattered, dented, even bruised, but alive. And Edward would never cease to barge into their small office, stomping in loudly with those heavy boots, as if the noise could make up for his height in catching people’s attention, and slam the report down on the Colonel’s desk, demanding another assignment.
Today was, obviously, no different, except for one key thing...
“You can’t meet the Colonel at this time, Edward,” Lieutenant Colonel Hawkeye had stated, holding that burning, golden glare with her own stony expression. “He’s in a meeting.”
The brothers had just entered, door banging loudly when Edward had slammed it open. Falman had immediately noticed that Alphonse was covered in dents, scratches, and smears of dirt. Edward hadn’t been looking any better, except all of his dents were bruises. He’d marched up to the Colonel’s office door with Alphonse tagging along behind him, murmuring greetings to everyone, before Hawkeye had stepped between the alchemist and his next wooden victim, forbidding him to go inside. He’d spouted out obscene phrases about the Colonel, grumbled and growled under his breath, then, once he’d cooled some of his scalding temper, he’d demanded to know when the meeting would end. Hawkeye had been unable to give him a definite answer. This then led to another, yet smaller, rant about various things that were considered the Colonel’s flaws, leaving Falman particularly uncomfortable with the child’s ability to drag a prestigious man’s name through the mud (or something worse than that). Alphonse, the quieter of the brothers, had interrupted then, suggesting that they go clean themselves up in their dorm room instead while they waited. If Falman’s deductions were correct, it seemed that they had hopped straight off the train and headed towards the office. Most likely for yet another assignment. Edward had mumbled out a few more choice words before giving a swift turn on his heel, and stomping back out of the office, the giant suit of armor clanking behind him.
Falman had watched the entire interaction from his desk, silent and hoping to blend into his chair. He’d decided, once the door had given one last, booming slam, that Edward Elric had made it to the top three of his “Terrifying People to Avoid” list, thanks to that infamous temper of his. He had taken place right under Lieutenant Colonel Hawkeye, and Colonel Roy Mustang. Actually, now having given it a little more thought, Edward might actually be in the top two instead.
The position was cemented a half an hour later when the door was slammed back open again, revealing none other than the Elric Brothers with Edward in the lead. Edward glanced over at Hawkeye, who gave a swift shake of her head at his silent question. He tilted his head back and groaned. Loudly.
“Cheer up, Chief,” Havoc called out, flashing a smile behind his cigarette, which, Falman noted in disgust, was against military regulation. “You could just hang out with us until the Colonel’s done.” Edward glared at the chipper Second Lieutenant, mulling over the option. Falman hoped he would decline, if only for his sake at least.
“That sounds like a good idea,” Alphonse said, nodding enthusiastically. “What do you think, Brother?” And that was the deciding factor, much to Falman’s dismay.
“Yeah, sure,” Edward shrugged, trudging further into the office. “It’s not like we’ve got anything else to do right now.” Falman valiantly tried not to sink into his chair with a weary sigh.
“What about the Philosopher’s Stone?” Fuery piped up. Edward allowed a snarl to be his reply, making Falman flinch.
“Another dead end?” Heymans asked, discarding the papers he was supposed to be looking over at his desk and ignoring Hawkeye’s glare. The man was a courageous fool, in Falman’s opinion. Even the Colonel couldn’t stave off the frigid glare of the Lieutenant Colonel.
“Yeah,” Edward sighed into his growl, leaning up against Havoc’s desk. “Turns out it was just some alchemist that was good at magic tricks, too.”
“He’d make distractions for his audience,” Alphonse added in for clarification. “And then slip in the real thing he was supposed to be transmuting while everyone had their attention turned away. If it wasn’t for Brother’s sharp eyes, I wouldn’t have known it.” Edward’s cheeks turned a touch darker as he waved his brother’s praise away. An interesting change in behavior, Falman decided, taking a mental note to file into his brain for later.
“Nah, come on Al, give yourself some credit,” Edward smiled at his little brother towering over him. “You were onto him a second after I was.” Falman was quite sure that, if Alphonse had been capable, the armor would have blushed at the praise.
“So, what are you guys working on?” Edward asked after a brief moment of pause, peering at the paper Havoc was supposed to be working on. The Second Lieutenant shrugged, pushing the paper around on his desk.
“Just another murder,” he sighed, working his cigarette between his teeth. Any semblance of a smile on Edward’s face fell and Falman could have sworn that, if it was scientifically possible, the atmosphere surrounding the alchemist had grown heavier.
“Scar?” Edward hazarded a guess. Havoc shook his head.
“Nope.” He popped the ‘p’. “Some new guy, I guess. Never seen this kind of killing before.”
“What’s his trademark?” Edward crossed his arms and spread his feet shoulder’s width apart. Alphonse listened just as attentively as his brother, peering over his shoulder.
“He destroys the body of his victims from the inside out,” Heymans answered instead and everyone turned to look at him. “Looks kinda like something Scar would do, but it’s always in the torso, not the head.” He held up a picture, showing the back of it off to the boys. Was he trying to spare them if they’d rather not see the body, Falman wondered, unsure what was exactly appropriate to show a child. Edward strode to the other side of Heymans, getting a good look at the photograph, while Alphonse stayed where he was, fidgetting with his gauntlets. Falman was pretty sure though that most children would have shied away from the graphic display as well, but Edward most certainly did not act like a typical child.
“What is it, Brother?” Alphonse asked, catching his brother’s furrowed brows and golden eyes studying the picture.
“Looks like an alchemic reaction happened in his gut,” Edward mused, straightening up, eyes still locked onto the mutilated body. “Like chemicals, not alchemy.”
“I have been looking at different reactions certain chemicals have within the human body,” Falman interceded, deciding this was probably the time he should enter into the conversation. “And I believe I’ve found a few.” Edward marched over to his desk and Falman’s hairline sparkled with sweat. Oh dear, this was not what he wanted. People on his “To Avoid” list are meant to be avoided. If he didn’t avoid them, then what was the point of even having the list?
“Whatcha got?” Edward leaned over Falman’s shoulder, staring down at his desk covered in books and papers. His manner was casual, but Falman felt as though a man with an ax was standing behind him, poised to swing. It’d be best if he trod lightly, he supposed.
“I’ve searched up various chemicals, mostly acids, but all with corrosive qualities and the ones I’ve come up with are sodium hydroxide, sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide, and silver nitrate.” He pointed out each element in a chemistry textbook he’d found in the back of his closet. From his university days, he’d assumed. Edward followed his finger as it hit each chemical. Apparently, that wasn’t enough because soon after he snatched the book from Falman’s desk and buried his nose into it without a word. Eyes still trained on the textbook, Edward turned on his heel and walked to Heyman’s desk, taking the proffered picture. His eyes flicked between the photograph and book for eight minutes and thirty-seven seconds before pulling himself away from his studying.
“Definitely not a base,” he stated, staring right at Falman. The man swallowed, feeling a spotlight land on him.
“I didn’t think so,” Falman agreed, hesitant. “But I wanted to include them on the chance that there was possibly a new way to change their chemical reactions from burning to eroding.” Edward narrowed his eyes and Falman was sure that a dagger was being aimed at his head right now.
“Yeah, that won’t be happening anytime soon.” The dagger had been thrown. “If the chemical reaction was changed, then that would mean the chemical itself was altered with too.”
“Ah, yes, that... that is true.” Falman blushed and fidgeted, trying to maintain eye contact but feeling the dagger sink between his eyes. “I just... wanted to ensure that alchemy wasn’t able to affect them. My understanding of it is... minute at best,” he admitted. Edward’s lips pursed. He gave a slow nod, eyes flitting back to the textbook.
“Don’t worry about that,” he reassured, waving an absentminded hand towards Falman’s direction as the eyes devoured every word they could find. “Alchemy has to follow the laws of physics, chemistry, and... every other law in science. There’s nothing special that alchemists do that can’t be done in a lab.” He paused and looked up, thinking. “You know, besides not needing a lab to do what we do.” He shrugged and turned his attention back to the book, leaving Falman both assured and terrified of an alchemist’s abilities.
“What does that leave us with for the chemicals then?” Havoc brought the subject back on track, tapping his cigarette on the edge of his ashtray.
“The acids, obviously,” Edward strode back to Falman’s desk and plopped it between them, gesturing towards the various acidic chemicals scattered across the pages.
“We’ve got sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, and hydrochloric acid.” Edward pointed to each one in turn. “Hydrofluoric acid is the worst by far. It’s super corrosive and can destroy pretty much anything, but that would mean the body should be almost completely destroyed. Everything but the guy’s stomach is still intact. Sulfuric acid can cause some really bad burns too and might even disintegrate a body, but it looks like there’s a lot of blood still in that guy so that’s out too-”
“Wait, why?” Heymans interrupted, leaning on his elbows at his desk. “What does blood and sulfur acid have to do with each other?”
“Actually, it’s sulfuric acid,” Falman corrected. “And the combination of both hydrogen and sulfur oxide creates a chemical that can exsiccate any liquids.”
“Exsiccate?” Fuery queried, popping back into the conversation from the sidelines.
“Means ‘to dry up’,” Edward shot out, not sparing the young man a glance. “Sulfuric acid dries everything up so there wouldn’t be so much liquid blood still in the guy’s gut.”
“So, that leaves... hydro... acid-something, right?” Heymans’s eyes jumped to each person in the room, growing eager. Falman could only describe the room as full of electricity, despite that the required climate and environment for electricity was not currently available in the office.
“Hydrochloric acid, yeah.” Alphonse decided to answer Heyman’s question. He nodded his head, placing a gloved finger to the chin of his helmet. “It’s corrosive, but not overly so that it can’t be contained to a certain area.”
“And it doesn’t suck up all the water near it,” Edward added, nodding along with his brother’s words. “It’s nearly perfect.”
“Wait, wait, hold up there, Chief,” Havoc raised his hands, brows furrowed. “Isn’t that the same stuff we all have in our stomachs though? What, did the guy just have more of that acid in him than any of us do?”
“He could have swallowed it,” Alphonse murmured. Hawkeye shook her head.
“I’m afraid that there were no chemical burns in the victim’s mouth or throat,” she supplied, surprising everyone with her voice after her quiet vigil. Falman glanced up at Edward, noticing the boy had raised a finger to place over his mouth, eyes turning hard and distant.
“It’s in our bodies, though,” he mumbled. He looked to be deep in thought, then he suddenly slammed his hands down onto the desk, making Falman jump from his chair in fright. “It’s Alchemy!”
“Brother?” Alphonse’s voice was hesitant and broke the shocked quiet that covered the room after Edward’s outburst.
“Al, it’s alchemy!” Edward turned to his brother, eyes flashing in triumph. “It’s so simple! Think about it, hydrochloric acid is naturally made by our bodies. It’s just chlorine put into a hydrogen solution. Hydrogen is everywhere, but do you know what you can eat that has chlorine in it?” If Alphonse had human eyes, Falman could imagine that they would have been alight as his entire armor body perked up.
“Vegetables like cabbage, broccoli, radishes, tomatoes-”
“Yes, exactly!” Edward’s arms were waving about now as he jumped to Alphonse’s side. “If this guy ate something with chlorine in it, then all the alchemist would have to do is transmute the hydrogen in his body to the chlorine in the food he was digesting and-”
“No way!” Heymans leaped to his feet, a drop of sweat tracking down the side of his face. “You mean I could die just from eating a tomato?” He shivered, whimpering, “But I love tomatoes.”
“It makes sense,” Falman gave a slow affirm, awed. How on earth did a child of thirteen years old manage to solve the cause of a murder case that his superiors had been mulling over for the past two days? In less than thirty minutes, no less! It was remarkable.
“Of course it makes sense,” Edward snapped, shooting Falman a soft snarl. The poor man’s awe swiftly changed to well-placed fear as he scrambled to sit back in his chair and make the appropriate notes required for their latest discovery, avoiding those piercing eyes.
“We’ll report this to the Colonel once his meeting is finished,” Hawkeye commanded, giving a stiff nod of satisfaction. Everyone gave their own compliances to her order, resigning themselves back to their paperwork. Edward and Alphonse remained where they were standing, shifting their weight on their feet as the stifling silence enveloped them.
“So...” Edward strolled over to Falman’s desk, fingers playing with the cuff of his blaring red coat’s sleeve. Falman glanced up, cold hands hovering over his spine. “You got another case you need help solving?”
It was of immense relief to Falman that he did, in fact, have a few case files tucked away into his desk that had been stumping him for quite a few days now. They most likely may have saved his skin from a brush with Edward’s scorching temper. It was also helpful for Falman that the Elric brothers' own intelligence was equal to those of college students rather than elementary schoolers like he had originally expected. The two brothers held university level conversations with one another, seemed intrigued to have Falman’s intellectual input from his non-alchemic perspective, and didn’t need him to clarify any of the more elaborate words he preferred to use that were at his disposal within his vocabulary.
Maybe, Falman mused as he listened to Edward and Alphonse’s elaborate discussion about the best way to test a chemical’s acidity without using a testing kit, these children weren’t so terrible to be around after all.
Ok then, that was my attempt at understanding chemistry... I hope it fooled someone. Thanks for reading!

ART IS NOT MINE!
Disclaimer: I do not own Fullmetal Alchemist or anything associated with it. This is purely fan made for fun, not for profit.
That being said, I have taken time to edit this story (Originally Blue Eyes Black Tears) and its chapters so there will be more content and a more developed plot as I didn’t develop it in the previous timeline until about chapter five. This also means there may be less chapters but they will be longer.
I hope you enjoy!
Blue Eyes, Veiled Lies
Chapter One: A Day Like Any Other
It was another dreary day in central, and a certain blonde alchemist had just returned from a mission in the east. Edward had also visited his extended family, the Rockbells, while there so it made returning to the city even more unbearable. Winry hadn’t heard from Alphonse in the past two months since he had disappeared. In fact, Al’s disappearance was the only reason Edward had decided to stay in the military. The brothers had finally found a solution and the elder Elric had finally made good on his word. Al finally had his body back.  All was well for two months, until he was suddenly gone, with no trace.  It weighed on the alchemist’s mind that his brother had vanished without a trace and he, a state alchemist, could find not a single lead.  He had been searching, wearing himself down to the bone, searching and searching, alas, to no avail.
He sighed heavily as he donned his trademark red coat and left his military dorm. It seemed all military staff received one so Ed figured for a while it might be a useful base of sorts. He was on the second floor, but he was near the end of the hall so the stairs that lead to the exit were practically outside his dorm. He closed and locked his door before he trudged down the stairs. Dread stirred like a lead weight in his stomach, making him feel ill, as he thought of what he had to report to the Colonel. He could only imagine the Colonel’s smug visage as he revealed that he had found nothing, not one clue about Al’s disappearance. Mustang’s snide comments alone were enough to make him turn around and forget about even turning in the report. It was sad he would rather deal with the angry Colonel than admit failure.
The blonde let out a frustrated puff and exited the dorm building sullenly traversing the sidewalks towards central HQ.  The one positive thing, Edward mused, was that at least it wasn’t raining and the sun could not blind him.
It took little to no time to reach the main building and he trudged up the front stairs, looking at the building, filled once more with dread.  He, if possible walked slower as he entered the office building and started grumbling to himself as he neared his destination. The blonde’s top lip twitched in disdain as he stared at the solid wooden door that lead to the Colonel’s office. He knew as soon as he knocked and was permitted access he would be looking at Mustang’s smug face. “That bastard.” He grumbled under his breath.
“Are you talking about me?” a deep, rumbling, sarcastic laden voice sounded from behind the blonde and he stood petrified, gold eyes wide in surprise.
Edward took a moment to recover himself before he spun around and hissed, “What are you doing?”
The Colonel quirked and eyebrow. “Just got done with a conference with the general. You?” he asked as he brushed past the shorter male pulling the solid wooden door open. He held it open gesturing with a flick of his head that Edward was to follow him.
Ed was frowning now, unwilling to give the man what it was that he wanted. Already Mustang was smirking at his expense, god he couldn’t stand this asshole. He lasted a moment longer as the raven-haired man took his seat behind the desk and begrudgingly spoke. “I brought my report from my last mission.”
“And?” the Colonel had his fingers steepled in front of his mouth so Ed couldn’t tell what expression he was making as his dark eyes were guarded.
Edward scowled at Mustang his amber eyes flashing as he bit back the rebellious comment that longed to pass his lips. “And what?” he said shortly.
Edward could hear the amusement in the Colonel’s voice now, “Surely I am not such a bastard that you can’t discuss your findings in a civil manner.”
Edward clenched his teeth at the jab and willed himself to calm. “I found nothing.” The words were forced out, warped further by bitterness. Ed pressed his lips together in a thin line as he waited for the Colonel’s response. His heart hammered as he waited for the ridicule to come.  The silence seemed to drag on forever and just when he could stand no more the Colonel finally spoke.
“This is troubling.” He rumbled his eyes glazed over as he looked somewhere past Edward’s shoulder. The blonde tilted his head slightly confused by the sincerity in Mustang’s voice.
“Yeah, it is.” Edward agreed quietly they fell into a mutual silence and the blonde glanced around the room unsure of how to proceed. He had expected ridicule but he was taken aback by the strange, sincere behavior from Mustang. While he stood awaiting some sort of direction from the Colonel he took a glance around the room. In the corner of the room Havoc, Fuery and Breda sat around a table, file folders strewn across the flat surface as they talked quietly amongst themselves. It piqued Edward’s curiosity, but he wanted to be sure Mustang was done with their business. He looked back to the Colonel and cleared his throat to get the older male’s attention. “Was there anything else?” he asked softly.
Roy focused back on the blonde when he cleared his throat and nodded. “Yes, you are free to go. I’ll be sure to read this.” He stated as he placed the document on his not-to-large stack of papers occupying the right-hand corner of his desk.
Edward nodded and bowed before casually walking over to the three men. “What are you guys working on?” he felt a certain amount of pride when he noticed the young sergeant jump at his words. Fuery looked up quickly hiding his surprise with a kind smile and a nervous laugh.
“Hey Edward, what brings you here?” he asked quickly, nervously.
It wasn’t to out of character for Fuery to get nervous so Edward let the behavior slide and cordially answered Fuery’s question. “Just had to turn in my report from my last mission.” He stated looking over the documents trying to read snippets. Unfortunately, Havoc noticed and placed an open manila folder on top of the documents.
“Hey chief, this is private business, unless the Colonel has put you on this case, I can’t allow you to read.” his voice and expression were apologetic, and though Edward was miffed at being caught so soon he simply shrugged his shoulders.
Breda spoke next “So how did your mission go? Did you get any leads?” he asked sounding genuinely curious.
Edwards expression darkened and he gritted his teeth together a slight growl permeating his throat, “It was a crap shoot. Not a damn clue left behind. It’s like whoever I’m dealing with knew I was coming or something.” He muttered
“Maybe they never where there and you were sent on a wild goose chase.” Havoc presented the idea marveling at how quick Edward’s emotions changed regarding his brother.
His eyebrows shot to the top of his forehead and his eyes widened as his mouth hung open in shock. He definitely hadn’t even considered this and man did that piss him off. If the Colonel was sending him missions that had nothing to do with finding his brother, he would be beyond pissed.  Edward regained his composure after a moment and closed his mouth his teeth knocking against each other uncomfortably. “I would like to believe the Colonel would be more sympathetic to my situation.” He said lowly.
Havoc smiled mischievously and shrugged, “Just food for thought, things are never as they seem Ed, you shouldn’t trust so easy.”
Edward puffed defensively “What are you implying?” he asked fiercely his gold eyes blazing.
Havoc held his hands up palms out in a calming gesture. “Easy there chief, I was just saying. It’s all about perspective, I just want you to consider every option.”
Edward was unsure how to respond. He felt fatigued as the anger left him as quickly as it had come. He became indifferent to everything and desired to be alone in his dorm. The blonde sighed and half turned “Ah, I guess I’ll be going now.” He said softly throwing a halfhearted wave over his shoulder his head spinning the entire way back to his dorms. So lost in thought was he that he nearly ran over another soldier. He felt the contact and looked up an apology spilling from his mouth before he was even aware of who he had even ran into. “S-sorry! I wasn’t paying attention.”
“Oh, it’s okay. Are you alright?” the man’s voice was smooth as silk and he appeared concerned. He was about a foot and a half taller than Edward, his black hair was slicked back against his head and curled gently at the base of his neck. His blue eyes held a genuine concern for the blonde his thin eyebrows curved up in worry. He wore the typical blue military uniform, only he didn’t have the coat on. Edward surmised that he must have been running a quick errand in his own time to be without his coat. He couldn’t peg what exactly, but something about this soldier had captured his attention. The kindness when he spoke perhaps, or maybe simply his attractive appearance.
“Uh,” started the blonde alchemist inelegantly, “Uh, what’s your name? I’m--!”
“Edward, right?” he finished the blonde’s thought with a soft smile, “You are kind of famous you know Mr. Elric. As for me I’m Emil Leighton.” He held out his hand cordially, “A pleasure to finally make your acquaintance sir.”
Despite himself Edward flushed at the compliment and shook the offered hand. “N-nice to meet you too.” As much as his name was helpful, it was a bit overwhelming when strangers knew who he was.
The blonde had barely returned his hand to his side when Emil started speaking about a mile-a-minute. “Wow~ It’s so nice to finally see you in the flesh, I never thought this would happen to me!” he said breathlessly, his eyes shone with barely subdued enthusiasm and he launched into more words not even giving Edward a chance to speak. “Say, what are you doing right now, I was killing some time before meeting with a friend of mine, but it isn’t for a while.  Would you mind if I killed some time with you?” the blonde’s gold gaze locked with Emil’s blue and the soldier flushed as he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, “Oh jeez, I got a bit carried away, uh, even though you just met me would you mind spending a bit of time with me?”
Edward stood, slack jawed and speechless as he stood at this tornado of energy in front of him.  While Emil seemed a bit over the top he didn’t seem horrible, and for some reason Edward couldn’t find a reason not to spend a bit of time with this guy.  He cleared his throat and regained his composure flushing awkwardly his gaze shifting to the ground as he scratched thoughtfully at his cheek, “Uh…sure why not. I was just heading back to my dorm…. if that’s okay…?” he finished uncertainly.
Emil’s face split into a big smile but he reigned in his response to a simple, “yeah, sounds cool.” And a slight nod.
The blonde alchemist smiled weakly and sighed “Okay, then.” He started walking and ensured that Emil was following him. He unlocked the door and flipped on the light. The room looked unused save for the stray book here or there.
“Uh, are you sure you really live here?” The black-haired soldier asked sarcastically as he took in the basically pristine living space.
Ed rolled his eyes and took off his red coat hanging it on the back of one of the kitchen chairs. “I don’t really live anywhere, I’m usually out on missions for the Colonel.” He just hoped Emil didn’t turn out to be as much of a sarcastic bastard as Mustang or he might have to reconsider his thoughts on Emil.
The soldier in question chuckled and snorted, “Do you mean Colonel Mustang? He and I didn’t hit it off to well on our last mission. For being as sarcastic as he is my humor didn’t mesh well with him.”
The Alchemist quirked a blonde eyebrow and let a half smile contort his features. “You’ve worked with Mustang?” he asked slightly skeptical. The only thing he could think that made sense is if he was part of the investigation that Mustang’s crew was on that Edward was not a part of since he had asked to be sent on any mission that might have leads on his brother.
“Oh yeah, they actually just asked me to join up for a case they are working on now. Havoc is actually the friend I was going to meet, don’t suppose you know him too?” Emil asked tilting his head slightly to the side.
“Ah—Yeah actually, I usually work with Mustangs crew, but lately I’ve been sent out on missions looking for leads— “he hesitated and wondered briefly if he should tell this stranger about his brother. Logically though he was working with Mustang’s unit that meant he would probably find out sooner or later and maybe at some point he might end up working with him on a mission at some point in the future.
Emil eyed the smaller male curiously as he hesitated and Edward shook his head returning to the conversation, “Uh, sorry.” He started awkwardly before continuing his thought that had caused him to falter. “My brother has been missing for two months so I’ve been looking for any leads and I asked Mustang to send me on any missions that might have leads on his disappearance.” The blonde finished his gold eyes serious now.
“Ah, that makes sense, must be why I’ve never seen you until now, being always on the move is rough.”
There was a short but drawn out awkward pause as Emil fidgeted suddenly looking apprehensive, “I actually should get going Mr. Elric— “
“Ah, call me Edward please.” The blonde hated the sound of mister before his name, it made him think of his father, and well, he didn’t like that man. He caught the uncertain expression on the other’s face nodding reassuringly as Emil hesitantly continued.
“Edward, I have to go meet with Havoc about the new case.” He bowed slightly “Thank you for the time! It really made my day.” He finished brightly.
The blonde returned the bow suddenly feeling uneasy, unsure as to why, but smiled regardless. “Nice to meet you.” He responded simply as Emil saw himself out.  Ed locked the door after he left and stood for a moment sighing heavily.  He exhaled and leaned against the door running his left hand through his golden bangs. “What a strange man…” he thought to himself as he looked out his window at the evening sunlight that flooded his living space. Another sigh and he made his way to his room and retrieved a book he had been reading and curled up in the chair by the lamp.
---
Emil stood on the sidewalk and looked back up at the window of the room he had just come from. He smirked slightly and stared a moment longer before a soft chuckle came from his throat as he walked away.

4/15
He wants to see him. But he won’t say a thing. It’s so hard to watch him suffer like that. I won’t let him suffer much longer. I just got to keep up my work. Oh, he will be so surprised. When he sees all the work I’ve put into this for him…I can’t wait.  The monster finally agreed to help me.  This will drastically shorten the time we have to wait. Oh, my dear, soon you will be mine.
Okay~ So end of chapter one, here we go~ I hoped you enjoyed and please leave a review! They are a writers fuel!                ~CGreyson~
